Other than Gates, you have a nice up and coming offense. Gonna suck come free agency time when they all want max dollars though.
Curious to see what your defense looks like.

I was always solid at Madden (any version really) on the All-Pro level. But this year, during my Franchise with the Rams, I throw SO many picks it's absurd. Even more so because Bulger has got the highest rating he's had in any Madden game (ah do I miss the Kurt Warner Greatest Show days...soo many people thought I was just being a d!ck when always selecting them).
Anyone else have this INT problem? Or am I just starting to suck?

I turn the INT way down on the slider. Average between 1 and 2 per game at most.
My Defense isnt really solid. My main D guy is Urlacher other than that Nothing particular. Looking to beef up the LB spot.

Looking to beef up the LB spot. You turn the INT way down and still average 1 or 2 picks a game? Wow. I bet I would beat you like 175 - 0 with the Lions. I have to get online now.

I kick up all the computer AI levels 4 notches and leave mine be on All-Pro and I'm 6 - 1 with the Lions in my first season.
I had played a full with the AI even and went to the Super Bowl. Too boring so I did a re-start. Now when I play it's way harder...I have to expand my playbook by about 40% and I have to read defenses like back in real life...it's ten times more fun and a lot like playing someone else who really *gets* football like Payback...

Anyone else have this INT problem? Or am I just starting to suck? ~ :-Xsk You're just starting to suck, bro. I was throwing all sorts of picks in the beginning, some 4 or 5 a game. A lot of them were coming in ridiculous fashion, too - linebackers jumping out of nowhere in front of a pass, crap like that. I'm finally starting to adjust to the coverage patterns (and develop the discipline not to Favre it downfield into double coverage) and the int numbers are coming down. I'm usually throwing only 1 or 2 tops a game unless I get frustrated and start chucking it. I've also started to find some solid pass patterns that really work for me. Now I just need Tony Ugoh to stop sucking and learn how to be half the man that Tarik Glenn was.

My INTs are up too this year -- although going into my second year with Cleo Lemon at the helm may be contributing Actually, the fact that the game is unforgiving with bad passes really forces you to be careful and, sometimes, if there just isn't anyone suitably open, taking the sack is the better thing. I'm learning. Fumbles are what are kind of crazy this year. I thought I read that somewhere, and sure enough, there are way too many of them.

I like how you post...Swarm. Helping someone is not in your vocabulary unless it benefits you Thanks. And ok since I thought about it and you caught me in a good mood I am going to try to try to help you. I can't promise I'll try, but I promise to try to try. Here goes...without really knowing your playing patters... 1A) Rule no.1...if it's in the game, it's in the game. They warned you. Which brings us rule 1B... 1B) Stop going for it on 4th down. If the team wouldn't go for it in real life then you shouldn't either. 2) Take the points. This also applies to rule 1B. 3) Learn how to run the ball and work the clock. This doesn't mean wait until this play clock runs all the way down to 1 to hike the ball, but set a pattern, take your time getting to the line, have confidence in your play call and try to read the defense if at all possible (more on this later)...Run the football. It is the foundation of the game and has been since the dawn of time. If you are not running the ball 25 times in a 5 minute quarters game a game on Madden you are probably throwing a load of picks and aren't winning too many games and I would humiliate you if we ever played. 4) Expand your playbook. Use the time on the clock to study it. Stop using all the same plays. 5) Learn defense. If you have to read a book read a book...if you have to watch the defense when watching real football do that...watching others play Madden always helps plus it's fun. If you learn defense, and stick to running the ball, you will win. I coached defense on a high school football team and it is an art. Once you get it, it's way more fun than offense - knowing how to hide blitzers and moving guys around and sacking the quarterback is way more rewarding imo. Once you learn defense, you will be able to read defenses better as well which will really cut down on your picks. In closing, I would put the AI back where it was. Just take your lumps. You are not going to get any better by playing at ROH level. Try those 5 things. Let me know how it goes. Good luck.

If you are not running the ball 25 times in a 5 minute quarters game a game on Madden you are probably throwing a load of picks I'm feeling saucy, so I'm going to disagree with this statement. I'm barely executing 25 offensive plays in most of my games, because I play a pretty methodical style. Only when the other guys keeps throwing downfield into the Cover 2 and letting me pick him do I get up into 40-50 snap territory for myself. Even with that, though, I wouldn't run the ball 25 times. For the team I play, that'd just be dumb. I could pass the ball with the greatest QB ever to play the game to Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison, or i could let Joe Addai run it and get squashed. It wouldn't make any sense to run for the sake of running, unless I really wanted to lose. I run to keep the other team off balance and to set up my play action, but when I actually want to gain short yardage and keep the clock going, I usually throw to Addai in the flat or have Harrison or Clark run a crossing route four or five yards out. With the Colts' personnel (and I'd imagine with the personnel of a few other teams), it makes a lot more sense. In an average game, I probably get 25-30 snaps, and maybe 10 of those are actual running plays. Everything else you said was right though. Especially the bit about taking the points.

Peyton Manning and the Colts may be the exception. I'll agree with that.
But if you have anybody else, if you want to win against someone or a level that is good, you need to run the ball 25 times. Please keep in mind, about 5 of those runs are killing the clock in the last 2 minutes of the game after I've opened a can on you. If you have Cleo Lemon you need to run the ball every play you aren't punting.

Agreed, Swarm....I definitely favor the run. I always do, but with Cleo Lemon it's all the more important.
As a result, I've made a superstar out of Brandon Jackson. 2000 yds this first season....on pace for about 1600-1800 in season 2.

With regards to the sliders, I bump down the INT's because not only was I throwing picks but I was picking them 4 times a game. Unrealistic. Now as for your 5 tips
1B. Never said I was going for it on 4th down. Only if I am down and it is close at the end of the 4th quarter or the half, right where most teams go for it.
2. Taking the points. A field goal is good enough if that is all I can get. I think that is understood
3.Running the ball is the most efficient way of controlling the clock. I think you do not realize that I know the mechanics of football. I understand. Its not about having 25 offensive snaps of running per 5 minutes. And how can you have 25 running plays in 5 minutes as well as any passes if you want to control the clock and take your time. That is 5 running plays a minute. I dont think I have ever seen that kind of offense unless they were playing no huddle. Also here in #3 you talk about humiliating me, which again goes back to what I said about they way you help people, by running them down
4.Expand Playbook. Again something you think I do is the same play over and over. I mix it up. That is why all my guys on offense get touches and catches. Its not the one man show.
5. Learn Defense. Never said the opponents were scoring a million points on me. I think I average 7-14 points for the defense.

That is 5 running plays a minute. 5 minute quarters equals 20 minutes per game and a little over 1 running play per minute. Man you suck at math as much as the Cardinals suck at sucking.

Anyone else have this INT problem? Or am I just starting to suck? ~ :-Xsk I am by no means a Madden expert, so take this advice for what its worth. 1. When passing, touch is much more important than on previous versions. It really is possible to float a pass over a defender's or zip one to a receiver right after he makes a cut. I was terrible at this until I spent some time on the passing skill drill (the one with the BIG tacking dummies). You have to be able to control the touch on your passes to beat this on hard. 2. Know your match-ups. Check them before the play and see where you can exploit a mismatch. I play as the Eagles. If one of my WR's has a shut down CB lined up on him, I know not to bother looking for him after the snap. 3. Read the defense before the snap and try to figure out if you are going to be blitzed. If I think a blitz is coming, I'll usually hot route my WR's on slants. If a blitz is doesn't come, I usually check my first receiver then roll out to by me more time to find an open secondary option.

Just like real life, their offensive line is just not that good at opening up holes. When I play as the Eagles I tend to try to hit LJ Smith and Westbrook with very short passes for ball control instead, unless its late in the game and I need to make sure I take time off of the clock.

Good call, Dragon Breath! This was the hardest thing for me to pick up on. I had this nasty habit of either just jamming down on the button and throwing the hardest pass I could or tapping it and throwing some wobbly crap downfield. I've since learned that there are a lot of subtle grades in between, though, and they're useful in different situations.

I finally got to mercy someone yesterday, which was cool. Manning threw 20 straight completions at one point and I picked him off 4 times. I ran it up to 27-0, then finally saw the option to give the guy mercy. There were only two minutes left, but I offered it anyway, and he accepted.
I know I appreciated it when I got it. Getting whupped sucks.

Week 8 Lions at Bears Live... Halftime... 14 - 14 Kevin Jones: 9 rushes for 35 yds. and a TD stay tuned... Some dude whooped me with the Lions earlier this week. He was like 157-40 or something absurd like that, and he just kept running Jones at me. Took me 3 quarters to figure out how to stop him, but it was too late at that point.
