Alright, I tried to play my first game online. I sucked on offense, because that's what I do, but my defense was looking good. Got a pick-six on the guy on his first drive, and then picked him off again on his third. Unfortunately, immediately after the pick he suffered mysterious connection problems *coughpulledhiscablecough* and had dropped from the game before I could even run it back in. Grrr ...

I gave online play a good try a couple years ago, but just found a lot of things annoying. For one, I too don't have the world's greatest grasp on Madden offense...so I suck badly in that regard. Defense, I've been great at for years.
And I know it's just a game, but it boils my blood when you're playing a spirited game against someone, you're already beaten, and they start running up the score, complete with no-huddle and usage of timeouts when they are far ahead in the 4th quarter. I just found that classless.
So, I stick to playing against real-life friends and the computer.

I never understood people who just drop in the middle of any online gaming. I like on the 360 how you can give people negative feedback for it.

It's pretty lame yeah. If you're going to take someone's time up in challenging them or accepting their challenge, play the whole game through. Little wimps

I need to learn the no-huddle button. I think I'm just gonna run up to the line every play, look at the D, and call out the routes for my recievers manually. Kinda like someone else we know.

I can't begin to tell you how much I hate Manning in Madden....they totally, at least in the past 2-3 versions, overdid his whole audible-calling thing. Drives me nuts to sit there and wait for that crap. Slows down every game against the Colts. I got so angry once that I played the increased injury Madden card and blitzed constantly....and thankfully I injured him in the second quarter and didn't have to deal with that junk

Heh heh heh ... so I got to finish an online game today. I spent the whole game running up in the no-huddle and pretty much calling my own custom plays from scrimmage. I'd pick one of the audibles, then I'd call hot routes to put the guys where I want them. Peyton would have been proud of me, but apparently Aquinas would have shot me in the head.
Anyway .... Colts 28, Pats 17

Man; all I want to do on defense is crush the ball carrier and this joker is watching episodes of Friends or something. Or maybe he is trying to slow the game down for St. Louis Cards fans.

Let there be no doubt that the gulf between Peyton Manning and his backup, Jim Sorgi, is considerable. Considerable enough to have cost me a loss online at lunchtime grumble grumble ...

Ah yes, Jim Sorgi, Pride of Wisconsin. Most posh QBing job there is. I'm trudging through a season with Cleo Lemon at QB....it's safe to say it's been trying at times

It was hideous ... Peyton got knocked out in the first quarter, so the rest of the game I'm trying to go with Sorgi. Throws that Manning would have put right on the money Sorgi's just throwing to the other team. I hadn't thrown a pick in my last two games online, but ol' Jim took care of that for me.

Just a question for everyone that has played the new game...I was whipping the living snot out of the Colts and with my franchise the Browns...I threw a slant route pass to Wilson and he did a FANTASTIC one handed catch in the end zone and landed on the ground...it was declared a TD but the both decided to review "the spot of the ball" ?? They reversed the play and kept the clock going ( ?) as if I caught the ball on the field...anyway, time ran out before I got a play off and on the screen it said I didn't get the points for it...but in the score by quarters I scored (no extra point) and in the final score I scored an extra TD without scoring in the fourth quarter....?!?!?? Has something like this happened to anyone else out there? Or is it just my 360 being all crazy like? Discuss...please...

Nope! I'm doing alright at this point. The only thing there really is left for me to learn is to not go all Favre and gunslinger it downfield into coverage, but that's something I've just got to teach myself.

I agree! I love sacking him though... =) Don't even get me started on the sacks. I weep and mourn the loss of Tarik Glenn every time someone busts through the left side of my line and crushes Peyton. In happier news, though, my recent funk has ended. I'm 6-1 in my last 7, and just came back from a 21-3 deficit in the first quarter of my lunch game to win 48-21. Life as the virtual Colts is good, even without Tarik Glenn.

Dang Holland, that's an awesome draft. Gates catches everything (are his hands still 99?)
