Comic Images, makers of the WWE Raw Deal collecter card game, are bringing out this fall:
KNOW YOUR ROLE: The WWE RPG
It is being produced under the Open Gaming License (meaning it likely uses the d20 system but without the d20 logo, much like Everquest or Mutants and Masterminds).

WWF had a really cool one called the WWF adventure game, but it fell into the same trap that this d20 game will-it's going take too freakin long to calculate stuff like damage/fatigue during matches.
I'll look at it, maybe buy it if it has cool art(not photos...please, have an artist draw the stuff)but I doubt it'll have the quick, fast paced fun that the GWF has to offer.

I think it's playable, it just takes 2.5 hours for one match, and that's a short match...

I don't think that it's even neccesary to calculate "fatigue" in a wrestling rpg. I have one done for d20 already called WrestleD20, based on d20 modern. It never quite got finished, but what is there is pretty decent, and it has a good move list which tells what damage the moves do. The game uses hit points, much like D&D. There are rules for pinning maneuvers in which they are easier when the opponent is out of hit points. The idea is to keep the game playable, and since much of what is in Wrestle D20 is Open Game Content, the WWE game could use that stuff lock stock and barrel if they wanted to. Allen

well, I ran it for about three months. I managed to score a photocopy of the manuscript for the never-released advanced rules. We played it ok, although looking up maneuvers was a bit of a pain. Bodyslam and Ringmaster are both improvements over the original. Allen

I just want to go on record as saying that I'm one of the principal designers working on Know Your Role: the WWE Roleplaying Game. While it will be using the OGL, we are doing a lot of unusual things with it. Please believe me when I say that the game will be fast-playing and will capture the feel of pro wrestling. Furthermore, character creation will be very simple and quick, yet will offer many strategic options. It will never be CotG/LoW, nor should it be. There can be only one, as the Highlander quote goes. Instead, we are aiming for another style of game. I feel it's as good as Filsinger's masterpiece, but in a completely different way. Then again, I'm biased. I want to assure you that KYR won't be "D&D wrestling"... this will be a wrestling RPG. No square pegs and round holes, I promise. I'm frankly shocked at how well it's working out. But enough babbling. Cynthia Celeste Miller (aka Baby Cindi) President, Spectrum Games www.spectrum-games.com

Thank you, Graymar! I was shocked to have our game nominated for the Origins award. Very flattering. I'm equally shocked that anyone here remembered me.

I'd like to point out that a lot of what I did with the CC&VF articles filtered down into Cartoon Action Hour (the RPG nominated for the Origins Award).
And don't be surprised if you see CC&VF published in 2005. No promises, but it's one of my goals.

Hi, Just came across this message board. (Hi, Cyndi!) I'm the lead designer of KYR, and I just got back from what Cyndi would also agree a great Gen Con for the game. The 8-page promo booklet was there (which shocked me). And those who participated in Marcello's 3-hour demo came away satisfied with what we did with the d20 system, to say the least. And to address the question of how long a match takes with d20 KYR, here's a gauge: John Cena vs. Randy Orton took about 30 minutes. A bout between two 1st-leveler takes about 5-10 minutes. You can even play ANY match SOLO, if you like. Lastly, you can make up ANY maneuver imaginable and on the fly... as those demoed the game can attest. Tony Lee

Hey, Mr. Lee, any idea of how the puplic who were not fortunite to get to Gen Con can get a hold of this promo? And hey Cindy, welcome back! Hope you start coming around more often. Thanks, Adam "Smasher"

Thanks, Adam "Smasher" Thanks, Adam! Even though I'm not Tony, I'll give you the same answer he will, I'm sure. Comic Images will likely post the demo booklet on the official Know Your Role website... as soon as they create it. As for when that'll be, your guess is as good as ours. We're hoping it's very soon. I'll post here when it's up.

Beat me to it, Cyndi Just wanna point out that the demo book rules are taken from an early draft so some things have changed, but is still sufficient enough to give you the basic feel of the game. Tony

Good enough guys, thanks a ton. I really can't wait for this one, cause with my recent purchase of d20 Future this should really give my game a unique edge.

Ok, now I am REALLY stoked for this! I had the pleasure of playing in a short-lived online game of Kayfabe with Cindi and I can tell you who may not know, she knows wrestling! That alone makes this game go from "I want to get this" to "I MUST HAVE THIS!!" for me!
I am eagarly awaiting the demo booklet!
