Yeah, I noticed that... no idea what's going on. I'm assuming either technical difficulty or they're revamping/sprucing up the site. I'll talk to somebody and find out If you haven't already, sign up to the wwerpgfan Yahoo Group. I put up a new demo in the Files section there with revised rules for combat, along with abridged generation for 1st-3rd level characters. If you already know how to play d20, you should have no problem with it. The manuscript made it through a round of approval, so we should still be on target for WM21 release. Still waiting for RawDealFan to tell us why it's unoriginal but not holding my breath , Tony

OK, found out what happened. The whole Comic Images site was down for several days, and apparently they neglected to re-hook the KYR page after the server came back up. Good News #1: The book is in layout. We just need WWE to finish pulling the remainder of our photo list and we can virtually guarantee a WM21 release. Good News #2: When the KYR site gets hooked back up, it should have the new demo, PLUS stats for four Superstars that aren't in the Yahoo Group demo (well, actually, revised stats for Eddie Guerrero, but new for Chris Jericho, Edge, and Bubba Ray Dudley). Incentive for you guys to log on Tony

Wow...sorry you guys had to get sucked into that war. Raw Deal Fan plays the CCG, which is fine. But, because the WWE is expanding past the CCG, Raw Deal Fan suddenly feels betrayed. Raw Deal Fan, I have earned the nickname of "The REAL GameMaster" for a reason. I have played (and play-tested) everything from Macho Women, to Shatterzone, to D&D 3E, to It Came From The Late Late Late Show. I have also play-tested Magic, Star Trek, Raw Deal, and a host of other CCGs. So, I think I know a little of what I'm talking about.
WWE KYR is about to bridge a gap that has long-eluded the rpg market. They have provided something that doesn't need a controller or memory card to play. It has provided a workable system, FAR BETTER than the 1st WWF/E rpg that came out nearly a decade ago. How can a game already be judged as "sucking" when it's not even done yet?!
Maybe you have forgotten, that is what the play-test phase is for. To hammer the rules down, and make them more workable. Not to mention, who said those rules were absolute?! If you didn't like it , there's nothing stated anywhere that you can't tweak or modify it more to your liking. Rulebooks have always been more of guidelines. Half the fun is creating and changing rules to your liking.
You kept making references to the Raw Deal CCG, but sorry to say, KYR is NOT Raw Deal. One is a card game, the other is a roleplaying game. Of course they're going to be different! What would be the fun of buying an rpg that played EXACTLY the same as the card game? I know I'd never spend money on a COTG rpg if it was just like the COTG game. It's called an "expansion", something that broadens the horizons and explores the unknown possibilities. Hate to label you, my friend, but you come off sounding more like a rules lawyer.
Granted, I am reserving judgement on KYR until the final product is in my hands, and I have had a chance to play it a few times. However, I am excited to see a game coming out that is exploring the vast world of pro wrestling. It's been sadly missed for a long time.
Your best bet is to go back to your Raw Deal deck, and flip over some cards. It's is painfully apparent that you have never fully explored the worlds of rpg's that you claim you have done. I can smell a hit and a stinker as well, and WWE KYR reeks of a hit.
Doesn't have the feel of the WWE? It's not balanced? In other words, the rules don't bow to the player? They shouldn't! The WWE is fierce, the WWE is competition personified.
I'm not a butt-kisser, I'm a GameMaster. I am THE GameMaster, and I am looking forward to this game.
If I could quote the Rock, "know your role, and..." My name is Brian, I live in Nebraska, and I am a long-time GameMaster.

So, AntiSocial (or anyone who knows), just when is this WWE RPG gift from the gods going to see the light of day? Does anyone have a release date? Can any game tester make an educated guess?

From what I keep hearing, it is supposed to have a release date right about the time WM21 hits the air. I haven't heard anything that contradicts that as of yet, so I'm holding my breath (hence why I seem rather bluish in color today).

Thanks for the release info. Should I feel like a Benedict Arnold for showing interest in another wrestling game on this board?

LOL nope! That's why this section of the Forum is here. I'm looking forward to it, and someone already mentioned adding it to the d20 Modern system, so you can make a pseudo GWF rpg out of it! Tom's cornered the market on wrestling games, with COTG and LOW. I seriously doubt the WWE rpg will be any sort of threat.

RingsYde: It is still on track for a WM21-ish release. My guess is between late-March to mid-April. I have seen the layout for the first chapter and it looked good (my bias so take it for what it's worth . AntiSocial X: You're absolutely right about the RPG being different from CCG; I wouldn't buy it if the two were the same either. I have played CoTG. It's a very good game, but if a RPG were to come along based on that, I sure hope it wouldn't play exactly the same as the card game. Tony

Ok, so here's my 1st character for the WWE KYR rpg...who other than GOLDBERG! Yes, I know he's no longer with the WWE, but ask me if I care. Goldberg goes where he pleases, and his time to re-surface in the WWE is now! Here are the stats I came up with (hopefully I did them right).
ABILITIES: STR-18, DEX-13, CON-13, INT-9, WIS-9, CHA-10.
CLASS: Power-2/Rough-2
END-96, Trauma-16 Reputation-0
Base Attack Bonus: +3 Fort Save: +5 Reflex Save: 0 Willpower Save: +3 Lift DC: 13 (291 lbs)
SKILLS: Intimidate +5, Knowledge (Simple, Rough Maneuvers) +4, Knowledge (Power Maneuvers) +3, Knowledge (Special Matches) +2, Perform (Promo) +2, Treat Injury +2, Sense Motive +1, Climb +2
FEATS: Power Moves Proficiency, Rough Moves Proficiency, Toughness, Signature Move (Spear) 1/show
TALENTS: Brute Force, Stomp Mudhole
FINISHER: The Jackhammer (power, lift check, self prone, immediate pin, 2d6 dmg) -1 maneuver check
SIGNATURE MOVE: Spear (as per the rules on the spear) * * * *
Now, I noticed stars like Jericho had a Feat called Spectacular Entrance, but there was no listing for that in the rulebook download. How exactly does that Feat work? Also, are the Ability modifiers added to the Saves and Base Attack Bonuses? If so, Goldberg's need to be bumped up a bit.
I ran his 1st match with my girl, she played Jericho. It was a bad match, and Goldberg won by DQ (she went for the low-blow, auto DQ). In the first move, I nailed a Jawbreaker with a Critical Hit (rolled 20 twice)! It did 6 points of Trauma damage, and Jericho was reeling! From there, Jericho had the advantage until he decided for the low blow.
Would like to know about Spectacular Entrance, and how some of the Knowledge skills play into a match!

You do get ability modifiers to saving throws and attack bonus.
"Spectacular Entrance" was only in Superstars' stats for the demo to entice you to buy the Core Rules ;D but I'll give it to ya anyway: Your entrance is so hot (or cool) that once per show, you gain a Heat with it! Though you have to be at least 6th level, is the prereq. (Eddie Guerrero, Undertaker, HHH, et al. would have this feat. Goldberg in his WCW days would have it as well.)

So, I've printed out the demo, and it looks pretty good. I've played d20 for quite awhile, and I played the hell out of the old WWF roleplaying game, and of course, COTG. Has anyone had any matches yet? If so, how did it go?

Tone Cold;
For the BAB, what ability modifier would I add? I'm assuming it would be STR, but they don't really say. If ability mods are added to the Save Throws, then Goldberg's needs to be bumbed up (I'm looking at the D&D 3rd Edition character sheet, and basing things off that). So, his FORT would be a +6, his REFLEX at +1, and his WILL at +2, with a BAB of +7? Wow, that changes him a lot! Also, thanks for the insight on Spectacular Entrance! I'm looking forward to getting him to a Lvl-6 now, so I can start generating the extra Heat!
WEAZ34: I've run a couple of games already, using good-ol-GOLDBERG! My girl played once as Jericho (the results are above), and have also gone against Edge and Bubba Ray. This game shows some promise, though it will never be COTG (sorry guys, but Tom's tops on me list!).

The mod to BAB, unlike conventional d20, depends on the maneuver group of the move you use: Str for Power Maneuvers, Dex for Aerial, Con for Rough, Int for Technical, Wis for Simple, and Cha for Savvy. For example, if you wanna do a dropkick, you add your Dex mod to your BAB; a Boston Crab, add your Int mod, and so on--there is no "dump" stat! You got the saving throws right. Might want to leave BAB unmodified for now, tho, so you won't get confused. For anybody curious about actual demo play, check out the thread on RPG.net "Open Forum" page 2 (sorry, don't have the link handy). Or, sign up to the fan list at wwerpgfan@yahoogroups.com, no moderator invite needed. The same guy who posted the actual play recap on RPG.net posted it on the mailing list as well. (For the record, it was a big hit with his group ) Tony

FYI, Goldberg's END score needs to be dropped to a 52, not at 96.

Thanks, Tone Cold. I've printed out the demo, and I like the look of it. I've played just about every wrestling game in existence over the years, and being a D20 fan, I have a lot of hope for this. Hopefully I'll be giving it a shot in the next couple of days with a couple of friends, and we'll see how it goes.

Weaz (and any1 else);
If you make a character, can you post it on here? I'd like to see other homemade wrestlers, I'm already trying to build a roster. That way when the game officially comes out, my group can hit the ground running.

AntiSocial, no problem. I'm not sure exactly when I'll get around to making guys, but like a lot of us, once I do, I'm sure they'll be quite a few. I'll definetly post them.TEXT
