The show opens with JR JAMES in the ring to address the crowd.

JR: Ladies and gentlemen, good evening, and welcome to Old School Saturday Night! It is our privilege to be joining you here from Youngstown, Ohio, the home town of RAY 'BOOM-BOOM' MANCINI, BERNIE KOSAR, and JIM TRESSEL, and the site of many great wrestling events over the years. And tonight promises to rank right up there with the greatest bouts in Heartland Championship Wrestling history. Tonight, right here in the Beeghley Center, the Great Lakes Heavyweight Championship will be decided as NICK BOCKWINKEL defends the title in a two out of three falls showdown against the former champion, JIMMY 'SUPERFLY' SNUKA! These two men have met twice before, and each has come away victorious. This evening, the issue will be settled once and for all, with the Great Lakes title belt as the spoils. And in addition, we have a loaded undercard for you as well. Now, let's head to the ring for tonight's opening contest!

'SWEET' STAN LANE (w/ JIM CORNETTE) vs. BOBO BRAZIL (w/ SLICK)
Lane did everything in his power to neutralize the power of Brazil. But, despite several flurries by Sweet Stan, Bobo finally caught him and planted him with a Coco Butt for the pinfall.

WINNER: BOBO BRAZIL
(Brazil pinned Lane after a Coco Butt)


JR: Not a surprising outcome in that match. The only surprise was how well Lane fared against the powerhouse. And now, fans, let's welcome the hottest new manager in Old School as SENSATIONAL SHERRI MARTEL has signed on to manage two of the toughest hombres around.

The tune, "Barracuda" by Heart plays overhead and the dynamic Sherri emerges at the top of the ring ramp. Sherri parts the curtain and HARLEY RACE emerges. Race is still sporting a nasty scar on his scalp in the aftermatch of his Taped Fist match against KING KONG BUNDY. Undaunted, Race and Sherri hit the ring to the cheers of the crowd.


HARLEY RACE (w/ SHERRI MARTEL) vs. DON MURACO
Race continued to struggle with his injury, and Muraco took full advantage. Muraco pounded away at Harley, opening him up early in the match. Sherri did her best to support Race, but before long her antics grew tiresome and Nick Patrick ejected her from ringside! Muraco viciously gouged Race across the forehead with the Asiatic Spike, and with Race a bloody mess, Muraco put him down for the three-count.

WINNER: DON MURACO
(Muraco pinned Race with a Piledriver)


As Race exited the ring with assistance from Sherri, JIM CORNETTE came to the top of the ring ramp with a microphone.

Cornette: Uh, Sherri darling? NICE TRY! But I'm afraid that your man Harley just isn't quite the same after the beating that Bundy gave him. Maybe you won the little battle at the last Heartland Havoc, but Old School is *MY* world, missy, and you and your dimwitted minions had better think twice about messing with us!

As Cornette finishes his rant, Sherri begins to make her way up the ring ramp, assisting Race. Cornette quickly drops the microphone and scurries through the curtain and out of harm's way.


JR: A rough night indeed for Harley Race. Bundy has certainly weakened Race, but sometimes a cornered animal can be the most dangerous of all. Deep down, I think Cornette understands that, and he certainly proved that discretion is the better part of valor when he made his hasty departure. Whether he will get his ultimate comeuppance remains to be seen. Next week, ladies and gentlemen, Old School will bring you a United States Heavyweight Championship match, as the champion, RAY STEVENS, defends his title against the number one contender, the Japanese icon, GIANT BABA. Let's take a look at Baba in a match-up against THE IRON SHEIK.



IRON SHEIK (w/ NIKITA BREZNIKOV) vs. GIANT BABA
The "tune-up" match for Baba turned out to be a little more than he expected. Baba took a shot from the Sheik's loaded boot in the early going, then found himself on the receiving end of a Sidewinder for a near-fall! But Baba kept his poise and battled back, dropping the Sheik with a mighty Chop. After a devastating Neckbreaker Drop, it looked like curtains for Sheik, but Breznikov interrupted the count of Nick Patrick and the match continued. Sheik dumped Baba to the ring floor, and rammed his head into the steel rails. Patrick decided he had seen enough and disqualified Sheik for the infraction.

WINNER: (via disqualification): GIANT BABA
(Sheik disqualified for an attack outside the ring)


JR: Oh, my goodness! Baba was lucky to get away with his skull intact from that situation. He is your winner by disqualification, and fortunately, he appears to be all right. I believe he will be fine for his title match next week, and there is no question that the champion Stevens will have his hands full. What's that? Fans, I have just been informed that there is a disturbance in the back stage area. WILDMAN BUTCH MICHAELS- what's going on back there?

Butch: JR, I have NO explanation for this- but RICK RUDE is back here and he has lost his mind! He claims to be looking for THE MOUNTIE about heading on a trip to Canada. But as soon as GIANT BABA came backstage, Rude has gone berserk! He has locked himself in the janitor's closet, but he continues to rant and rave about something. We can't hear him clearly, but I believe he has a cell phone back there with him. Sounds like he's screaming at someone named Adam, but we can't be sure.

JR: Thank you for the update, Butch. Please keep us posted if there are any further developments. Ladies and gentlemen, as you know, Rick Rude is on the lam, and trying to prevent ROB BENNETT from sending him to Japan! Perhaps he is trying to reach out to his tag team partner, ADAM PEARCE, for help. So far, he has tried without success to get assistance from TOM PRICHARD and from THE MOUNTIE. What will happen next is anybody's guess. We'll keep an eye on Rude, ladies and gentlemen, but for the moment, we need to get back to the ring for our next match.



CURT HENNIG vs. THE CRUSHER (w/ SHERRI MARTEL)
The match between Hennig and Crusher was a textbook contrast in styles. Hennig opened the match with a flurry, sending the Crusher reeling with knee lifts and dropkicks. Curt nailed the Hennig Plex, but interference from Sherri again saved her man from defeat. Crusher battled back, taking the action to the ring floor and pummeling Hennig from pillar to post. Hennig was gassed, and Crusher finished him off with the Stomach Claw.

WINNER: THE CRUSHER

JR: What a fine contest indeed between two reluctant heroes in the Old School. Looks like THE CRUSHER is headed our way! Crusher, Sir, what is on your mind?

Crusher: What's on my mind? JR, do you believe that numbskull JIM CORNETTE wants to come out here and insult the dignity of such a fine dame as MISS SHERRI? I guess one whoopin' weren't enough for you, pal? Now youse lissen to me. We got another Heartland Havoc comin' real soon. Hows about you, KING KONG BUNDY and JIM CORNETTE, settle things once and for all with me and Miss Sherri?

Crusher drops the microphone and walks away.

JR: How about that, ladies and gentlemen? Crusher has challenged Bundy to a mixed tag team match at Heartland Havoc! We'll need an answer from Bundy and Cornette- we'll just see if they will be willing to get back in the ring against Crusher and Sherri!



THE KILLER BEES (B. BRIAN BLAIR & 'JUMPIN' JIM BRUNZELL) vs. BRUTUS 'THE GEEK' BEEFCAKE & GREG 'THE HAMMER' VALENTINE
Two of the classic teams of the 80's went at it in a grueling battle. Frequent tags and crisp execution by both teams kept the bout competitive until Valentine took over on Brunzell. Two painful applications of the Figure-4 neutralized Jumpin' Jim, forcing him to tag out to Blair. The Dream Team duo methodically worked Blair over until Beefcake was able to put him down for the three-count.

WINNERS: BRUTUS BEEFCAKE & GREG VALENTINE

JR: A very solid match between two seasoned teams, but there is no question that the totem pole is formidable here in the tag team ranks of the Old School. Now, fans, it is finally time to see one of the most anticipated match-ups of 2009 here in Old School. These two men have battled back and forth, with the Great Lakes Heavyweight Championship at stake. And tonight, two great legends of the sport will meet in a best two out of three falls matchup to determine once and for all- who is the better man? Will it be NICK BOCKWINKEL? Or the 'SUPERFLY' JIMMY SNUKA? Let's head back to the ring for tonight's Main Event!

As the participants are introduced, the scene cuts to the service entrance to the Beeghley Center. A black van appears, and drives slowly to the entrance.



OLD SCHOOL GREAT LAKES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: TWO OUT OF THREE FALLS
NICK BOCKWINKEL (c) vs. JIMMY 'SUPERFLY' SNUKA
First Fall: Bockwinkel got the jump on Snuka and put him down early with a Boston Crab. Snuka survived the hold and managed to fight back, but was unable to to any significant damage before Bockwinkel locked in the Sleeper and forced Snuka to submit.

Snuka staggered to the corner, dazed, as Nick Patrick timed the one-minute break between falls. Before the match resumed, another commotion arose from backstage! ADAM PEARCE, accompanied by CHRIS JERICHO and LANCE STORM, pounded away at the janitor's closet with a sledgehammer, finally breaking the door open and freeing Rick Rude! The four men dashed through the halls and emerged at the top of the ring ramp! Just as Patrick was about to call for the bell, the four Tradition invaders hit the ring and assaulted both competitors! Rude dumped Snuka out of the ring, while the other three men went to work on Bockwinkel. Despite his best efforts, Bockwinkel was already winded and quickly found himself a victim of the numbers game. Pearce picked up Bockwinkel in a piledriver position, and Jericho and Storm came off the middle rope to assist Pearce in dropping Bockwinkel with a thunderous Spike Piledriver! Bockwinkel crashed to the canvas hard, and lay motionless in the corner. Heartland Security forces, led by BIG JIM THE ENFORCER, stormed the ring, prompting Pearce and his allies to scatter.

JR: Are you kidding me? These unwanted scoundrels from Tradition have raided the Old School! Bockwinkel is in bad shape, fans. It looks like Pearce and his squadron have jumped into a van and departed from the arena. This match is unable to be completed, and Nick Patrick has declared this bout a "No Contest". No question, ladies and gentlemen, this is one of the most reprehensible acts I've seen in the history of Heartland Wrestling. This was supposed to be a historic night and a historic match, but I am afraid that simply will not come to pass here this evening. It looks like the paramedics will need to be summoned for Mr. Bockwinkel, so we are going to clear the arena and call it a night. My deepest apologies, ladies and gentlemen, for the outcome of this evening's events. We'll get the things situated here, and we will be back in action next week. I'm sure we'll have some announcements about this situation, the Great Lakes title, and the future of the Heartland's working agreement with Tradition Wrestling. Until then, fans, so long from the Buckeye State!

The show opens with Warfare General Manager DAYTONDAVE in the ring holding a microphone. The tune, "Livin' On The Edge" by Aerosmith wails through the arena as the crowd buzzes.

Daytondave: Hey, fans, welcome back to HCW Wednesday Night Warfare! Daytondave and the boys of the Heartland are back with another great might of professional wrestling action! This is the last episode of Warfare before the big pay-per-view. That's right, fans, Heartland Havoc XXV: Silver Anniversary Slamfest is just 10 days away! It will be the fourth- and final- confrontation between BRUISER BRODY and TAKESHI MORISHIMA with the Heartland Heavyweight Championship on the line! The Heartland Tag Team Championship will also be defended at Havoc, when OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO will take on the winner of tonight's #1 Contenders' Match. Also, right here tonight, the American Heavyweight Championship will be on the line when the champion, DANNY HODGE, defends his title against BUFF BAGWELL. We've got a lot going on here tonight, fans. So grab yourself a cold one, relax, and enjoy the show!

LARRY SWEENEY struts to the ring with CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI as the tune "Sledgehammer" by Peter Gabriel plays overhead. Sweeney has the arm of KIP JAMES, and is pulling Kip to ringside. Sweeney talks with great animation as he tries to sell Kip on the idea of joining Sweet and Sour, Inc.


CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI (w/ LARRY SWEENEY) vs. DANNY DORING
Perhaps Claudio was distracted by the presence of Kip at ringside. At the opening bell, Doring belted Claudio with a clothesline, then dropped him with a Bareback and pinned him cleanly!

WINNER: DANNY DORING

Kip James looked on, and shook his head in disbelief. He turned in disgust and walked up the ramp. Sweeney pursued him closely, still talking a blue streak and trying to convince Kip to join his faction. Claudio remained in the ring, dumbfounded in the throes of defeat.


Daytondave: Hello? Earth to Larry Sweeney? Dude, your crown jewel just got beat by a jabroni in under one minute. Larry Sweeney had better be more focused than that when he brings BUFF BAGWELL out tonight for his title match!



DELIRIOUS & NECRO BUTCHER vs. THE HEADSHRINKERS (SAMU & ALOFA)
The goofy antics of Delirious and Necro were just too much for the Headshrinkers. Samu found himself trapped in the opposing corner, where Necro beat him down and Delirious finished him off decisively.

WINNERS: DELIRIOUS & NECRO BUTCHER
(Delirious pinned Samu after a Shadows Over Hell)


Daytondave: Ooookay... Looks like these two soulmates have found each other! The Headshrinkers were completely befuddled after that match, and frankly, so am I.



SABU vs. IVAN KOLOFF
In a brief, but brutal match, Koloff pounded at Sabu with his chain but could not finish him off. Not to be outdone, Sabu fired back with the Arabian Facebuster and Koloff went down hard! Sabu was immediately on him with the Camel Clutch and Koloff was unable to escape.

WINNER: SABU
(Sabu forced Koloff to submit to the Camel Clutch)


Daytondave: What a fiasco! Those are two of the most vicious and heartless men you'll ever see. Both those men are lucky to have gotten out of that situation in one piece. And it ain't about to get any prettier when these next two hit the ring.



DAN SEVERN vs. THE MISSING LINK
This match was less of a crazed frenzy than the previous two, as Severn smartly kept Link grounded and set him up beautifully with the Fireman's Carry Slam to deliver the finish.

WINNER: DAN SEVERN
(Severn forced Link to submit to the Wakigatame)


Daytondave: Strong work by Severn. Link's Combat Championship was not on the line in that match- but if it were, I am sure we would have seen a much different level of intensity from the Missing Link.



HEARTLAND CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: #1 CONTENDERS' MATCH
THE BACKSEAT BOYZ (JOHNNY KASHMERE & TRENT ACID) vs. TEAM CANADA (THE MOUNTIE & ANGELO MOSCA)
The Canadian duo was masterful in the Contenders' Match! Mountie wore out Acid with an agonizing Boston Crab to set the tone for the match. Both Canadians worked over Kashmere until he could barely move. Acid recovered enough to save Kashmere from a pinning predicament, but Mosca caught the Boyz for a double noggin-knocker which but Acid out of commission and set up Mountie for a clean pinfall.

WINNERS: TEAM CANADA
(Mountie pinned Kashmere with a Short Choke Slam)


Daytondave: Congratulations to Team Canada! Mountie and Mosca are headed to Havoc XXV for a shot at the Heartland Tag Team Champions! These two men have melded very well as a unit, and they are sure to be dangerous competition to OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO in the title match. Now, fans, it's time for our Main Event! Can BUFF BAGWELL dethrone the American Heavyweight Championship? Let's check it out!



MAIN EVENT: WARFARE AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
DANNY HODGE (c) vs. BUFF BAGWELL (w/ LARRY SWEENEY)
Hodge was clearly the better man in this contest, outfoxing Bagwell at every turn. Timely interference by Sweeney allowed Buff to get a brief flurry of offense, but Bagwell was unable to put Hodge away. The champion battled back to regain control of the bout, then he sent Sweeney scurrying away from ringside. Buff was too weak to capitalize on the distraction, and it didn't take long for Hodge to finish him off.

WINNER: DANNY HODGE
(Hodge pinned Bagwell with an Oklahoma Side Roll)

DANNY HODGE RETAINS THE AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP


Daytondave: Fans, ain't no doubt about it. Danny Hodge is a man's man. It's gonna take some serious kahones for somebody to get that American Heavyweight Championship belt off his waist. Rough night for Larry Sweeney and his crew. Both Bagwell and Claudio came up short in the ring, and it looks like KIP JAMES was not even a little bit impressed. All right, fans- we're done here! Congratulations to TEAM CANADA for qualifying for the Tag Title match at Heartland Havoc XXV. We'll see you down in Dayton at the Nut House for the big show next Saturday Night! But don't forget to tune in this weekend to check out my boy JR JAMES and the Old School broadcast. RAY STEVENS is defensing the United States Championship in the main event against GIANT BABA. The show opens with JR JAMES in the ring, accompanied by HCW Commissioner COUSIN LUKE. The mood is somber as JR addresses the crowd.

JR: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Old School Saturday Night! Heartland Championship Wrestling is proud to be back with another evening of first-rate wrestling action. We are one week away from Heartland Havoc XXV: Silver Anniversary Slamfest, as HCW returns to the center of it all, the Ervin J. Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio! But all is not well here at Old School. As I am sure you may recall, our last broadcast was marred by a shocking assault, perpetrated by the unwanted scoundrels from Tradition. That attack appears to have put both JIMMY SNUKA and NICK BOCKWINKEL out of action, and left the Great Lakes Heavyweight Championship in limbo. As a result of that situation, our esteemed Commissioner is here this evening with a special announcement.

Luke: Thank you, Jimmy. Folks, after the match last week, both Jimmy Snuka 'n Nicky Bockwinkel done got injured. As of now, we ain't got no Great Lakes Champion. After Heartland Havoc, we'll set down and figger out what to do 'bout that. We're right sorry 'bout that, folks, but we got a great show fer y'all tonite and we got a super-duper paper-view ready fer next week!

JR: I must say, Mr. Commissioner, that I expected such an announcement here this evening. But the show must go on! The Old School's most prestigious title will be on the line tonight, when RAY STEVENS defends the United States Heavyweight Championship against GIANT BABA in what promises to be a spectacular Main Event. Now, let's head to the ring for tonight's opening contest!

DICK HUTTON vs. ANTONINO ROCCA
In a duel of contrasting styles, Hutton controlled much of the action with his ground-and-pound tactics. But the explosiveness of Rocca ultimately decided the contest, as the Argentinian unleashed several quick flurries and scored a pinfall with an impressive combination.

WINNER: ANTONINO ROCCA
(Rocca pinned Hutton with a Victory Roll)


JR: Wow! A very surprising outcome indeed to that match. I must confess, Rocca really showed me something with his ability to absorb punishment and come back for victory.



KING KONG BUNDY (w/ JIM CORNETTE) vs. THE DESTROYER
The combination of Bundy and Cornette proved to be lethal for the Destroyer. Destroyer held his own with Bundy in the ring, but when action spilled outside, Cornette was able to distract Nick Patrick and allow his man to whip Destroyer into the steel post. This set the stage for Bundy to finish with an Avalanche and a 5-count.

WINNER: KING KONG BUNDY
(Bundy pinned Destroyer after an Avalanche)


After the decision, THE CRUSHER, HARLEY RACE, & SHERRI MARTEL came to the top of the ramp.

Crusher: Maybe you ain't so dumb after all Bundy. Youse gots that slob Cornette guy to watch your back. But don't you forget Heartland Havoc next week, cause me and Miss Sherri are gonna break you!

Cornette stands in the ring, dumbfounded, as Sherri leads her men back to the locker room.


JR: An ominous warning from The Crusher! Remember, fans, it will be Crusher and Sherri Martel in mixed tag team action against Bundy and Cornette next Saturday night at Havoc! Sherri got the best of Cornette on one previous occasion, and there is no question she would relish the opportunity to give Cornette another whoopin'. Also on the card at Havoc, the Heartland Tag Team Championship will be up for grabs when the champions, OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO, face off against TEAM CANADA. We'll take a look at the Canadian duo in this next contest as they prepare for their title shot with some stiff competition.



TEAM CANADA (ANGELO MOSCA & THE MOUNTIE) vs. HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN & STEVE 'DR. DEATH' WILLIAMS
The teamwork of the Canadians was on full display in their victory over Williams and Duggan. Even more surprisingly, Mountie unveiled a new, improved Shock Stick! With Mosca tying up Nick Patrick, Mountie blasted Dr. Death with the shock stick and pinned him after a short choke slam.

WINNERS: TEAM CANADA
(Mountie pinned Williams after a Short Choke Slam)

After the match, Mountie climbed to the middle turnbuckle and gestured with his hands around his waist as the crowd jeered.


JR: That, ladies and gentlemen, is a dangerous team indeed. Mountie is clearly sending a message to the Heartland Tag Team Champions in preparation for next week's championship match. But somehow, I don't think Bobby Heenan will allow his men to be distracted or intimidated by tonight's Canadian show of force. Did I just say Canadian show of force? What was I thinking? All right, ladies and gentlemen, I have just gotten an update on the Bockwinkel and Snuka situation. Bockwinkel has been laid up with a neck injury, and it appears that he will be out of action for several weeks. But evidently, Snuka has expressed a desire to return to action right here tonight!

The fans cheer wildly as JIMMY SNUKA emerges through the curtain! He acknowledges the fans, and makes his way gingerly to the ring.


JIMMY 'SUPERFLY' SNUKA vs. MASKED SUPERSTAR (w/ SLICK)
Snuka was still a step slow against the Superstar, and paid the price. Snuka managed a couple of dynamic flurries, but Superstar wore him down and pinned him after a brief struggle.

WINNER: MASKED SUPERSTAR

JR: An unfortunate occurrence indeed for the popular Superfly. But Jimmy is dedicated to his sport and to his fans, and if he can run, walk, or crawl to that ring, you can bet your bottom dollar he will be out there competing. But Masked Superstar is a man who asks for no quarter and gives none. And on this night, Superstar is your winner. Our next match, ladies and gentlemen, has championship implications as two of the top stars of the Old School hook up for an important confrontation.



JOHNNY VALENTINE vs. DON LEO JONATHAN
The intensity level rose a notch when these two legends hit the ring. Valentine took Jonathan to the mat and punished him with repeated applications of the abdominal stretch. But Jonathan battled back, pitching Valentine off the top turnbuckle and overpowering him with a swinging full nelson. Valentine was in trouble, and took the match to the ring floor. Jonathan got the best of the first exchange, sending Valentine careening into the security railing with a thunderous atomic drop. The violence escalated, and Nick Patrick struggled to get the action under control. Valentine staggered back into the ring, but Jonathan shoved Patrick aside, grabbed Valentine by the leg, and hauled him back to the arena floor to continue the brawl. Patrick tumbled to the floor, and immediately sprang to his feet and called for the disqualification.

WINNER (via disqualification): JOHNNY VALENTINE
(Jonathan disqualified for shoving the referee)


JR: Now, gentlemen, let's not let this situation get out of hand! This is Old School! We are about competition here. We do not let things get out of control like those buffoons at Warfare, or those idiots at Tradition. Don Leo Jonathan, we will NOT permit you to handle our Old School officials that way. You are SUSPENDED for the next two weeks!

JR raises his hand and waves to the back. BIG JIM THE ENFORCER strides to ringside, accompanied by two large men in dark suits. Jonathan is escorted from the premises without another word.

JR: Thank you, gentlemen. Now, we have a championship match to conduct. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to head back to the ring for tonight's Main Event!



MAIN EVENT: OLD SCHOOL UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
RAY 'THE CRIPPLER' STEVENS (w/ BOBBY HEENAN) (c) vs. GIANT BABA
The title match was remarkably long and dramatic with multiple turns of the momentum. Baba began the match by overpowering Stevens, and beating him down with chops. A piledriver earned Baba a near fall, but distraction by Bobby Heenan saved the title for the Crippler. Baba remained on the attack, putting Stevens down with the Neckbreaker Drop. When Baba went for the cover, Heenan again interjected himself, but this time, Baba lunged after the Brain and sent him scurrying up the ramp for cover! This brought ANTONIO INOKI out of the locker room to restrain Heenan and keep him at bay!

Stevens took advantage of the distraction to catch a breather and work his way back into the match. Stevens got down and dirty, brawling with Baba and sending him backpedalling with elbow smashes and punches. Finally, Baba was knocked to the canvas, and Stevens executed the Bombs Away, but Baba kicked out! Baba rallied, again taking control of the bout after a stunning atomic drop into the turnbuckle. Baba worked over Stevens with a series of chops, then floored him with a Russian Leg Sweep, but was unable to put Stevens down for the cover. Stevens slipped out of an attempted Bear Hug, whipped Baba to the ropes, and planted him with a Jumping Knee Smash! The Crippler's knee connected squarely with the jaw of Baba, and Stevens quickly made the cover to catch the three-count!

RAY STEVENS RETAINS THE UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP


After the decision, Heenan returned to the ring to celebrate with Stevens. When Inoki headed to the ring, he was back-jumped by RICK RUDE! Rude sucker-punched Inoki and knocked him to the floor, then began putting the boots to him until Baba hurried up the ramp and chased Rude out of the ring area. Enraged, Inoki took the microphone.


Inoki: Rick Rude! You are dishonorable man! You have no respect for your leaders or for your fellow wrestlers! Rick Rude, I challenge you to come face me like man! No more spitting! No more attacking! You come to me like man!


JR: Ladies and gentlemen, Antonio Inoki has had enough. And frankly, so have I! Mr. Inoki, you have your match, against Rick Rude, at Heartland Havoc. This business with Rude and his antics needs to stop. Tradition is a fine wrestling organization, and Rob Bennett is well on his way to bring that organization to new levels of respectability, but for the actions of a few bad actors. In any event, the most important thing is, congratulations are in order to Ray 'The Crippler' Stevens for yet another successful title defense! A great match to cap off a most entertaining night of action, and to lead us in to Heartland Havoc XXV. That's right, fans, one week from tonight, from the Ervin J. Nutter Center in Dayton, it will be pay-per-view broadcast number 25, headlined by the Heartland Heavyweight Championship confrontation pitting the champion, BRUISER BRODY, against his rival, TAKESHI MORISHIMA, in a battle that you won't want to miss! The show opens in a festive atmosphere at the Nutter Center as the tune, "Livin' on the Edge" by Aerosmith blares through the arena. Heartland Commissioner COUSIN LUKE is in the ring, accompanied by Warfare General Manager DAYTONDAVE and Old School General Manager JR JAMES. MISS BERTHA is dressed in an elegant silver sequined dress. The leadership team greets the enthusiastic crowd, smiling and waving.

Luke: How y'all doin'? Welcome to Havoc number twenty-five! It's always a big night when the Heartland holds a paper view, and we jus' wanted to come and thank you good folks for comin' out tonight!

Daytondave: You got that right, boss! Fans, are you ready for some smokin' hot action? The Heartland Heavyweight Championship is up for grabs tonight! This may be the biggest match in Heartland history! Tonight you will see the fourth- and final- battle between BRUISER BRODY and TAKESHI MORISHIMA with the title on the line.

JR: And that's not all, ladies and gentlemen! The Heartland Tag Team Championship is also at stake! You'll see the champions, BOBBY HEENAN'S team of OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO, defend those belts against the dangerous Canadian duo of ANGELO MOSCA & THE MOUNTIE! And now, ladies and gentlemen, without any further ado, let's head to the ring for tonight's opening contest!



SIX-MAN ELIMINATION TAG TEAM MATCH
THE FOREIGN LEGION (IRON SHEIK, MAD DOG VACHON, AND BUTCHER VACHON) vs. CURT HENNIG, BRAD ARMSTRONG & BOB ARMSTRONG
(Referee: Charles Robinson)

The Legion started quickly, isolating Bob Armstrong and represtedly pummelling him outside of the ring. After Sheik wore him down with an agonizing Boston Crab, Mad Dog pinned him with a Piledriver.

*BOB ARMSTRONG ELIMINATED*

Brad Armstrong responded quickly! Young Brad dashed into the ring and took over on Mad Dog with a flurry, scoring a quick pinfall after the Russian Leg Sweep.

*MAD DOG VACHON ELIMINATED*

Brad and Curt then kicked it into high gear! Working effectively as a unit, the Americans laid a beat-down on the Butcher. A series of slick double-team moves put the remaining Vachon brother on the mat, and it looked like curtains for the Algerian until Sheik was finally able to make the save. The crafty Sheik worked his way back into the match, trapping Brad in a painful Camel Clutch and forcing Hennig to come to his rescue. But Hennig soon met the same fate! Sheik tortured Hennig in the Camel Clutch, nearly gaining a submission before Curt was able to make it to the ropes. Sheik was frustrated, but Curt fought back, seizing the opportunity to flatten the Iron Sheik with a running knee lift! Hennig capitalized quickly, crushing Sheik with a Running Spear and gaining a three-count!

*IRON SHEIK ELIMINATED*

Before Curt could regain his concentration, Butcher dashed into the ring and stunned him with a knee to the stomach. Hennig doubled over, and Butcher stunned him with a backbreaker and covered him for a pinfall!

*CURT HENNIG ELIMINATED*

The match came down to Brad vs. Butcher. Brad was still the fresher wrestler, and he dropped Butcher with a pair of Flying Head Scissors. Brad had the momentum until Butcher pitched him out of the ring. Armstrong alertly avoided a threat from Nikita Breznikov, but Butcher caught him from behind and planted him with a vicious belly-to-back suplex on the concrete floor! Armstrong was stunned, and Butcher took advantage, dumping him back into the ring and planting him with a backbreaker to earn the three-count!

*BRAD ARMSTRONG ELIMINATED*


WINNERS: THE FOREIGN LEGION

After the pinfall, Breznikov entered the ring and beat Brad with his riding crop! Butcher also began putting the boots to the fallen Brad, but Bob Armstrong and Curt Hennig quickly dashed to the ring to aid their fallen partner and prevent any serious injury.


JR: What a brutal confrontation! Ladies and gentlemen, no question Butcher Vachon took more punishment than anyone in that match, but at the end of the day he was the last man standing and that is what counts. That is a man, love him or hate him, that you want to have on your side when you go to war, and on this night the battle belongs to the Foreign Legion.



NWA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT: QUALIFYING MATCH
BOBO BRAZIL (w/ SLICK) vs. THE DESTROYER
(Referee: Nick Patrick)

The two wily veterans threw down in a highly entertaining and competitive match. The momentum shifted frequently, with neither man gaining a decisive advantage. Action spilled out of the ring on several occasions, but Nick Patrick allowed the combatants leeway as the brawled on the arena floor. Destroyer received a stern warning from Patrick after one brawl, but the action continued. After Destroyer put together a series of moves, Bobo seemed to be in some trouble, and reverted to a desperation Low Blow! Slick managed to distract Nick Patrick long enough for the infraction to go unnoticed. But Destroyer managed to battle back, and the intensity level of the contest went up a notch. Action spilled out to the floor once again, and this time it was Bobo who pushed the limits, slamming Destroyer face-first onto the steel railing. This drew the ire of Nick Patrick, and he called for the bell and awarded Destroyer the victory by disqualification.

WINNER (via disqualification): THE DESTROYER

JR: Wow... what a slugfest that was! Destroyer certainly kept his cool throughout that match and in the end it paid off handsomely. As for Bobo, this man has all the ability in the wqorld, but at times it seems he can't get out of his own way. Tonight was one of those occasions, and as a result, The Destroyer will move on to the NWA World Championship Tournament! Now, ladies and gentlemen, allow me to turn the proceedings over to my friend and colleague, Daytondave, for our next contest.

Daytondave: Thank you, JR. What a hot night it is here at the Nut House! You and your Old School matches of gotten the crowd warmed up and ready for our next match. We've never seen anything quite like this, fans, but the war between JIM CORNETTE and HARLEY RACE has spawned a Mixed Tag Team challenge match that will be a hot one, without a doubt!


MIXED TAG TEAM CHALLENGE
KING KONG BUNDY & JIM CORNETTE vs. THE CRUSHER & SHERRI MARTEL
(Referee: Heather Owens)

For the second consecutive month, Sherri embarassed Cornette in front of a pay-per-view audience. Sherri tagged herself into the match in the opening moments and dominated Cornette. Her attacks were relentless, despite repeated efforts by Bundy to intervene. Finally, Crusher took out Bundy with a powerful forearm, opening the door for Sherri to launch onto Cornette with a flying Top Rope Splash and score the pinfall!

WINNERS: CRUSHER & SHERRI MARTEL

After the pinfall, Sherri wasn't finished! The Sensational One continued to beat on Cornette with both fists as the beleaguered manager ducked for cover. Cornette finally rolled out of the ring and retrieved his tennis racket! Cornette swung the racket wildly, but Sherri ducked away and high-tailed it back up the ring ramp. Crusher finished brawling with Bundy and came to Sherri's side at the top of the ramp, soaking in the cheers of the fans as Sherri taunted Cornette before leaving.


Daytondave: That's quite a fiesty little dame you have there at Old School, JR. For you sake, you better hope she doesn't take a swing at YOU!

JR: Nonsense, Daytondave. Sherri is a hellcat inside that ring, but in the real world you won't find a more delightful lady.

Daytondave: Delightful? Who needs THAT? For my money, give me a filly with some fire!

JR: You mean like SO CAL VAL?

Daytondave: JR, don't you EVEN go there!

JR: You reap what you sow, my man. Let's head back to the ring- it's time for the much-awaited Heartland Tag Team Championship match!



HEARTLAND CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO (c) (w/ BOBBY 'THE BRAIN' HEENAN) vs. TEAM CANADA (ANGELO MOSCA & THE MOUNTIE)
(Referee: Joe Kopasz)

In a shocking finish, the Canadians upended Heenan's champions to capture the Tag Team Titles! It looked like the champs had things well under control as they isolated Mountie early in the match and kept him on the defensive. A Zbyszko piledriver nearly earned his team the victory, but Mountie kicked out and the match continued. Baker continued to pound away on the Mountie, until he finally escaped to tag out to Mosca. Mosca stunned Baker with a stiff forearm smash at the turnbuckle, then dropped him with a running clothesline. Mosca then delivered a Big Nasty Elbow Drop! Bibby Heenan suspected that the elbow was loaded, and jumped to the ring apron in a rage. But the distraction didn't help, as Mosca took the opportunity to load the pad the second time around and stun Baker with another elbow drop for a three-count!

WINNERS: TEAM CANADA

ANGELO MOSCA & THE MOUNTIE CAPTURE THE HEARTLAND TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP


Daytondave: What a stunner! Fans, you have just seen a shocking situation as Team Canada has captured the Tag Team Titles! Angelo Mosca took the champions by surprise in that match. So much of the attention from Heenan and the champions was focused on the Mountie and his Shock Stick- what a brilliant strategy by the Canadians! Congratulations to Mountie and Mosca on an amazing victory. Bobby Heenan is beside himself, but Joe Kopasz is standing his ground and the Canadians are proudly displaying their newly won championship belts! JR James, your reaction to what we have just seen?

JR: A remarkable turn of events, no question about it, Daytondave.

Daytondave: Right you are! And speaking of strange happenings, our next contest was modified just two days ago! After an ugly brawl over at Tradition, LANCE STORM was injured and will not be able to compete tonight! Our good friend and Heartland Contributor WILDMAN BUTCH MICHAELS has put togethre a video clip from that matchup. Thanks, Wildman! Show us what you got!


The video plays from Tradition Card #11 at East Lansing, Michigan. LANCE STORM appears, running into the ring through the crowd and nailing ADAM PEARCE with a super kick right in the face! Later in the match, Pearce grabs a steel chair cracks Storm, not once but twice in the head with the chair! Looking square at Jericho ignoring the referees demands to stop. Pearce then placed the chair against the ankle of Storm and stomped right down on it, Storm screamed in agony then Pearce did a suicide dive through the ropes crashing onto Jericho! The referee calls for the bell as officials come storming from the back, to separate the two, as EMT’S came in to attend to the fallen Lance Storm who was still screaming in pain…they ended up taking Storm out of the ring on a stretcher into an ambulance to the nearest hospital.

Rob Bennett came down to ringside and was upset about what transpired and told Jericho if Storm was unable to go for their match at Havoc that Pearce would replace Storm as his partner for the match against Liger and Tiger Mask! Both Jericho and Pearce were furious and still tried to get at each other through the officials as the clip finishes.


Daytondave: Great work, Wildman! As a result of that situation, two bitter Tradition rivals, CHRIS JERICHO and ADAM PEARCE, will be forced to step in the ring together to face the proud Japanese team from the Heartland, JUSHIN LIGER and TIGER MASK. This match could get ugly in a hurry, fans, so let's see how this goes down!



TAG TEAM GRUDGE MATCH: NO DISQUALIFICATION
TEAM HEARTLAND (TIGER MASK & JUSHIN 'THUNDER' LIGER) vs. TEAM TRADITION (CHRIS JERICHO & ADAM PEARCE)
(Referee: Charles Robinson)

From the outset, it looked like the acrobatic Japanese team would control this match. Tiger Mask started quickly against Jericho, nailing him with a series of lightning fast kicks, then dropping him with a jumping spin kick. Pearce seemed amused by Jericho's predicament, watching with a smirk. Jericho took offense at this and went back to his own corner. Pearce smugly reached for a tag, but Jericho responded with a slap across the face! Pearce angrily climbed into the ring, only to be met by a leaping headscissor takedown by Liger! The situation only got worse for Pearce, when Liger nailed him with a rolling Koppo Kick that sent him tumbling through the ropes and down to the arena floor! In a flash, Liger was airborne, slamming into Pearce with a crushing tope suicide which left both men in a heap on the concrete floor!

Liger made it to his feet first, and climbed back in the ring, preparing for another suicide dive. But Pearce recovered, and Liger smartly caught himself and landed on his feet on the arena floor. Unfortunately, that was all the time that Pearce needed to deliver a vicious low blow to Liger, hoist him up, and send him crashing through the announcers' table with a thunderous power bomb! Liger collapsed to the floor, stunned, and lay motionless. Tiger Mask rushed to the aid of his fallen partner, but Pearce grabbed Tiger and hurled him face-first into the steel ring steps!

Daytondave: There is no disqualification! There is no countout! Pearce is on a rampage and he can't be stopped!

Sure enough, Pearce was relentless in his continued attack. Pearce rolled Tiger Mask back into the ring, then picked him up and slammed him to the mat with a Jumping Piledriver! The Tiger's body slumped to the mat and convulsed from the shock of the blow. Pearce nonchalantly covered Tiger Mask as Charles Robinson issued the three count. The Nutter Center crowd sat in stunned silence as both Japanese stars lay motionless. Even Jericho was uncharacteristically silent as he stood in the corner and his jaw dropped.

WINNERS: ADAM PEARCE & CHRIS JERICHO

But Pearce wasn't finished with the carnage. After the decision, Pearce went to ringside and yanked a steel chair from the audience. Pearce marched into the ring and placed the chair around the leg of Tiger Mask. Jericho remained on the ring apron, befuddled, but then smirked as Pearce prepared to stomp the chair. But before Pearce could do his damage, Tradition promoter ROB BENNETT dashed to the ring and stepped between Pearce and Tiger Mask. Pearce stared down his boss, then pointed a finger at him and began poking his chest. Bennett stood his ground, then turned to Jericho and pointed at the chair. Jericho wiped the smirk off his face and quickly untangled the leg of Tiger Mask from the steel chair. Charles Robinson and Nick Patrick dashed into the ring and helped Tiger Mask to safety. But as Bennett turned back to face Pearce, Pearce drew back and nailed him with a sucker punch, knocking him out cold on the mat! Satisfied, Pearce raised his arms to the crowd, taunting as the fans jeered. Pearce left the arena on his own, pelted by cups of beer as he strode back to the locker room. Jericho remained behind to assist Rob Bennett, who was able to return to the locker room with assistance. EMT's were summoned, and Jushin Liger was taken from the arena via ambulance.


Daytondave: Fans, I am shocked by what we have just seen! Adam Pearce has gone on a murderous rampage! He just broke Jushin Liger clean in half, and tried to cripple Tiger Mask. To make matters worse, he even cold-cocked his own boss! This man is out of control. And if Rob Bennett can't find someone to stop him, then I will!

JR: Daytondave, I couldn't agree with you more. You will have the full resources of the Old School available to deal with this situation however you see fit. But now, ladies and gentlemen, after all the dramatics, we still have our Main Event to come! Best two out of three falls, for the Heartland Heavyweight Championship! Let's head back to the ring for this monumental confrontation!



MAIN EVENT: HEARTLAND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP - BEST TWO OF THREE FALLS
BRUISER BRODY (c) vs. TAKESHI MORISHIMA
(Referee: Joe Kopasz)

First Fall: The two behemoths started the match at a slow pace, feeling each other out and testing one another's power. As the match progressed, the intensity picked up, and before long the heavy lumber was flying inside the ring and out. Brody got the best of Morishima in several exchanges on the arena floor, leading to a Jumping Knee Drop and a near fall! But Morishima powered out of the move and the match continued. Morishima battled back, and caught Brody coming off the ropes with a powerful flying forearm! Brody went down, and Morishima capitalized immediately, executing a beautiful Saito Suplex and scoring a clean pinfall! (Morishima 1, Brody 0)

Second Fall: Brody immediately rallied back in the second fall, taking the fight directly to Morishima and stunning him with a flying shoulder block. Brody came directly back to the Jumping Knee Drop and gained a quick pinfall to even the score! (Morishima 1, Brody 1)

Third Fall: It was do-or-die for Morishima in the third fall, and the giant Japanese went for broke. Morishima fired off the top turnbuckle with a cross-body block, but Brody smartly moved aside and Takeshi crashed and burned. Brody took control at that point, dominating Morishima with a series of high-impact blows! Brody pulled out everything in his arsenal, and Morishima survived most of it. Takeshi kicked out of another Jumping Knee Drop, and also powered out of a piledriver before Brody finally drilled him with a running leg drop and covered him for the three-count!

BRUISER BRODY RETAINS THE HEARTLAND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP


Daytondave: Fantastic! Congratulations to Bruiser Brody for a sensational victory over his rival. Brody keeps hold of his title- and that is a much-deserved reward for everything he went through tonight, and over the last four months of this rivalry.

JR: Indeed, Daytondave, it was a brutal series of matches between these two warriors. Both men fought hard, and in true sporting fashion, they share an embrace as the match concludes.

Daytondave: Kudos to Morishima, also. He put up a hell of a fight tonight and throughout this rivalry! But Brody has emerged as Heartland Heavyweight Champion to cap off a terrific night of wrestling action! JR: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome back to Heartland Championship Wrestling! We're here at Eastern Kentucky University, and it's 6:05 pm on Saturday Night, so it must be time for Old School Wrestling action! But first, we have a special announcement from HCW Commissioner COUSIN LUKE.

Luke: Thanks, Jimmy! Folks, we got some bad news fer ya tonight. And some good news, too. The good news is, we still got a deal with ROB BENNETT and we're gonna have us a World Championship tournament! But the bad news is, Nick Bockwinkel done got real bad mussed up. So, he can't defend his Great Lakes championship. 'Cuz of that, and the new World Championship, we're gonna evacuate the Great Lakes Championship.

JR: Evacuate? Don't you mean vacate?

Luke: Vacate? Don't be silly, JJ. Championship belts cain't hunt n' they cain't fish. I reckon they could go to the swimmin' hole, but they cain't float neither. Ain't no reason to vacate with the title belt, so we're gonna let Mr. Bockwinkel keep it instead.

JR looks perplexed.

JR: In any event, ladies and gentlemen, the offical word is, that the Great Lakes Championship is a thing of the past. So, let's look to the future! Throughout the month of April, HCW will be selecting three more wrestlers for spots in the NWA World Championship tournament. We'll see one of those qualifying matches right here in tonight's main event! We have a special guest on hand with us- MIKE QUACKENBUSH has made the trip to take on GIANT BABA for a spot in that tournament. We will see that contest as tonight's main event. But first, ladies and gentlemen, let's head to the ring for tonight's opening contest!

HACKSAW DUGGAN & STEVE 'DR. DEATH' WILLIAMS vs. THE FLYING REDHEADS (RED BASTIEN & BILLY 'RED' LYONS)
Two popular teams hooked up for an entertaining opening bout. The Redheads prevailed with superior teamwork, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat after Bastien rescued Lyons from an Oklahona Stampede.

WINNERS: THE FLYING REDHEADS
(Bastien pinned Williams after a Double Drop Kick)


JR: An impressive win for the Redheads, no question about that. In the world of tag team competition, evenly matched contests often come down to strategy and chemistry, as tonight's bout proved. Now, ladies and gentlemen, I am excited to announce the return of one of the Old School's great superstars, now back in the ring at full strength returning from an injury.



HARLEY RACE (w/SENSATIONAL SHERRI ) vs. DICK HUTTON
In a rugged brawl between two tough legends of the Midwest, Race wore down Hutton and took control. Hutton survived two piledrivers, and a powerbomb on the arena floor, before finally tasting defeat.

WINNER: HARLEY RACE

JR: That contest was worthy of Old School wrestling indeed. Neither man took a backward step, and in the end the better man brought home the victory. And my, oh my, doesn't Sherri look great!


After celebrating with Sherri, Race strides to the announcers' table and takes the microphone.


Race: That's right, JR James, Harley Race is back! And I am finished with this Cornette business! I have been bogged down far too long with that nonsense and it is time for me to move on. Harley Race is reaching for the stars, and I am leaving the bottom-feeders like Bundy and Cornette behind. Miss Sherri here is gonna watch my back and I am determined to become the top man in this federation. JR, do you believe that there is a World Championship tournament- and Harley Race ain't even qualified to enter? It's time for a change, my man. So, Ray Stevens- get that belt shined for me, because you will be looking at the lights before you know it!



KING KONG BUNDY (w/ JIM CORNETTE) vs. DON LEO JONATHAN
Bundy appeared miffed and distracted by the re-emergence of Harley Race. Don Leo Jonathan took advantage of the distraction and took control of the match. The massive Mormon put aside Bundy and beat him convincingly despite the antics of Jim Cornette at ringside.

JR: King Kong Bundy is a beleaguered man indeed, ladies and gentlemen. He has just been humiliated by the words of Harley Race, and now loses a match here on television. He really needs to refocus. In just 10 short days, he will face off against JOHNNY VALENTINE for an opportunity to enter the NWA World Championship tournament!


An angry Jim Cornette strides to the microphone.

Cornette: Harley Race? Sherri Martel? You two think you can just come out here, and with one promo, dismiss the threat that Jim Cornette represents? Harley, the only reason you still have a head on your shoulders is by the grace of Jim Cornette. And Sherri- don't you think for one second that I am gonna forget the things that you have done. You two have NOT heard the last from Jim Cornette, not by a far piece!

Cornette throws the microphone aside and storms back to the locker room as Bundy struggles to keep up.

JR: Strong words from Jim Cornette. I don't think he is going to let his grudge with Race and Sherri die quite so easily. And now, ladies and gentlemen, let's return to the ring for the renewal of another long-standing rivalry here in Old School.



BOBO BRAZIL (w/ SLICK) vs. JIMMY 'SUPERFLY' SNUKA
Tonight was the Superfly's night from the opening bell. Snuka unleashed a devastating flurry on Bobo, finally crushing him with a thunderous chop that sent the big man tumbling to the arena floor. Brazil was barely able to make it back to the ring before Snuka came off the top turnbuckle with a scintillating Superfly Leap which earned him a dynamic victory!

WINNER: JIMMY 'SUPERFLY' SNUKA

JR: Would you listen to the fans respond to Snuka! He is a popular figure indeed here in the Old School, even when he is matched up against a well-liked individual such as Bobo Brazil. Well, ladies and gentlemen, there is certainly NO love lost between these next two competitors. This rivalry is not as historic as the previous match-up, but the hatred between these two men, and their respective factions, is deep and desperate.


CURT HENNIG vs. THE IRON SHEIK (w/ NIKITA BREZNIKOV)
To no one's surprise, the confrontation between these hated rivals quickly deteriorated into an all-out war! Hennig dominated the in-ring action, but Sheik went frequently to the outside and punished his foe badly. But Hennig fought on with great determination, surviving an agonizing Camel Clutch. Hennig surprised Sheik with a standing dropkick out of nowhere, stunning the Iranian and sending him tumbling out of the ring. Hennig was quick to follow up, and fists flew throughout the Alumni Coliseum! Charles Robinson did his best to regain control, but when Sheik shoved him to the floor, Robinson had seen enough and called for the bell.

WINNER (via disqualification): CURT HENNIG

After the match, the brawl continued throughout the arena until BIG JIM THE ENFORCER and his Super Security Squad separated the combatants and escorted them back to the locker room.


JR: Ladies and gentlemen, believe me when I tell you, nothing has been resolved between these two men, or their allies. Curt Hennig deserves a great deal of respect for his performance here tonight. What a display of intestinal fortitude! He has really carried the fight to the Iron Sheik, and to the entire Foreign Legion for that matter. And now, two of the hottest men in the Old School go to the mats in what promises to be a very compelling contest.



THE CRUSHER (w/SENSATIONAL SHERRI ) vs. JOHNNY VALENTINE
Fireworks erupted in Richmond as The Crusher battled Johnny Valentine! The match was evenly contested in the early going, until Valentine trapped Crusher in a devastating abdominal stretch. As Crusher struggled, KING KONG BUNDY came to ringside and began berating him! Bundy began to climb the ring steps, but he was quickly cut off by HARLEY RACE. A raging fistfight developed at ringside! As the chaos progressed, suddenly JIM CORNETTE and THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS arrived on the scene. Cornette and Sherri argued, but Eaton and Lane grabbed Sherri and carried her away through the curtain! Bundy kept Race occupied while the Midnights escaped. Crusher was unable to free himself until Valentine plastered him with an Atomic Skullcrusher and pinned him. Crusher immediately bolted through the curtains and Race followed, but Cornette, the Midnights, and Sherri were long gone.

JR: Oh, my goodness! What a shocking turn of events! The Midnight Express have taken Sherri Martel away by force! Jim Cornette called his shot- he promised that he wasn't finished with Sensational Sherri- and sure enough, he brought his plan to fruition. But in the opinion of this wrestling journalist, Mr. Cornette has taken things way too far! You had better believe that a full investigation will be in order for this situation. Now, ladies and gentlemen, let's head back to the ring for tonight's exciting Main Event!



MAIN EVENT: NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: QUALIFYING MATCH
MIKE QUACKENBUSH vs. GIANT BABA
Despite being a last-minute replacement for the injured JUSHIN LIGER, Baba proved himself worthy of the opportunity. Baba quickly overpowered Quackenbush and put him down cleanly.

WINNER: GIANT BABA

JR: Congratulations to Giant Baba! He has just qualified for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament! After everything that the Japanese contingent has endured in the Heartland, it is a joy to see one of their number represented in the tourney. This will indeed validate the worldwide prominence of our sport! Ladies and gentlemen, it has been a great night here in Richmond, Kentucky. We thank the good people at Eastern Kentucky University for their hospitality, and most of all we thank you, the great fans of Heartland Championship Wrestling, for making it all possible. The show opens with Warfare General Manager DAYTONDAVE in the ring with a cell phone, looking somewhat frazzled.

Daytondave: You're doing WHAT? Running Tradition? You're kidding! What about your scheduled appearance in Oberlin?

Daytondave pauses as he hears the opening music.

Daytondave: Yes, Larry, I know that Oberlin is a crappy little liberal hell-hole, but-

Daytondave is suddenly startled by the resounding boos from the Oberlin crowd.

Daytondave: Oh, gees, Larry! Now look what you have done! This entire liberal hell-hole hates me now. You've turned me in to a right-wing extremist and HCW is now a hate group. Before you know it, the Department of Homeland Security will be knocking on my door. All right... well, good luck, and keep in touch. Let's do lunch.

Daytondave hangs up his cell phone and turns to address the crowd, waiting for the boos to subside.

Daytondave: Hey, fans, sorry about the interruption. I'm afraid that LARRY SWEENEY won't be here with us tonight. You probably heard, he's taking over the reigns at TRADITION. We wish Larry the best of luck in his future endeavors.

The booing of the crows turns to cheers as Sweeney's absence is announced.

Daytondave: Anyhow, fans, we have a great show for you tonight! We have a special surprise in our main event- a very different match as THE MISSING LINK defends his Warfare Combat Championship against MIKE QUACKENBUSH! Talk about a contrast in style, this is definitely going to be a fascinating encounter. So grab yourself a cold one, relax, and enjoy the show!

IVAN KOLOFF vs. THE SANDMAN (w/ JONNY FAIRPLAY)
The opening match was an ugly brawl which repeatedly spilled out of the ring to the arena floor. Multiple distractions by Jonny Fairplay allowed his man to get the better of Koloff with a variety of dirty tactics and come away with the victory.

WINNER: THE SANDMAN

Daytondave: What a fiasco! This Jonny Fairplay really took advantage of that situation. I suppose that's why Sandman pays him the big bucks.



KONNAN (w/ SIR OLIVER HUMPERDINK) vs. DANNY DORING
Konnan dominated the contest and dispatched Doring after barely breaking a sweat.

Daytondave: Piece of cake. Konnan has been at the top of his game the past few months, especially since he hooked up with Sir Humperdink. But Humperdink has bigger problems- his New Age Outlaws are not seeing eye to eye. We'll have WILDMAN BUTCH MICHAELS catch up with Sir Oliver and his tag team later this evening. We'll see what the Japanese team of ANTONIO INOKI and TIGER MASK can pull together tonight. As you may recall, back at Havoc XXV, their ally JUSHIN LIGER got put through a table and carted off to the hospital. The latest is, that Liger is in rough shape and we won't be seeing that dude any time soon. Can his friends step up their game?



ANTONIO INOKI & TIGER MASK vs. THE HEADSHRINKERS (SAMU & ALOFA)
The Japanese were intense coming out against the hard-hitting Samoans, but Inoki was off his game by a half-step and the bigger opponents trook advantage. After missing a flying cross-body-block from the top turnbuckle, Inoki was nailed with a diving headbutt from Samu and pinned cleanly.

WINNERS: THE HEADSHRINKERS

After the decision, the Japanese team hung their heads and walked sadly away from ringside. The team was halfway up the ramp when they were met by MIKE QUACKENBUSH, who stormed out of the locker room with a microphone.

Quackenbush: Listen here, you two! Enough of this pouting already! We can't afford to whine and moan- or they will take us all apart, one by one. I have as much respect for JUSHIN LIGER as anybody- so I feel your pain. Liger was a great wrestler, a great rival, and a great friend. But I'll be damned if I am gonna watch him go down and not put up a fight! That's why I am stepping up my game- starting right here tonight! I'm challenging THE MISSING LINK for the Combat Championship. Link, you can hit me with anything and everything you've got. I intend to show you, and these fans, and everyone up there at Tradition, that Mike Quackenbush is ready to stand and fight! Are you with me, boys?

Inoki lifts his head and looks Quackenbush in the eye. He offers Quack a firm handshake, and Tiger Mask follows suit. The three men stride confidently back to the locker room.


Daytondave: Whoa! How about that, sports fans! Mike Quackenbush has just delivered a stirring call to arms. He's mad about Liger going down, and he's not gonna take it any more. Fans, to be honest, when I saw Quackenbush listed on the card as a challenger for the Combat championship, I wasn't so sure. He's never exactly been a hardcore type in the past. But it makes perfect sense now! Quack is determined to take the fight to ADAM PEARCE and to anyone else who crosses his path. I only hope he hasn't bitten off a little more than he can chew by challenging The Missing Link. Link is a dangerous man, and he's just crazy enough to put a hurtin' on Quack tonight. That match just got much more interesting in my book.



SABU vs. MIL MASCARAS
In a surprisingly one-sided match, Mascaras kept the action inside the ring and dominated Sabu with an array of flying assaults to pin him decisively.

Daytondave: I tell you, fans, that's a heck of a match for Mil Mascaras. He controlled Sabu from start to finish- and that ain't easy. Fans, I'm sure you know how much trouble THE NEW AGE OUTLAWS have been through lately. Dudes ain't been getting along. For a minute it looked okay when they brought in SIR OLIVER HUMPERDINK, but they have suffered a couple of losses and they even got beat in the Tradition Tag Team Tournament. Last month, we even saw KIP JAMES talking turkey with LARRY SWEENEY, but I don't think they actually hooked up. My man WILDMAN BUTCH MICHAELS caught up with the Outlaws and convinced them to do an interview before their match tonight. Let's head backstage and check it out!


Wildman: Thanks, Daytondave. I'm here with The New Age Outlaws and their manager, Sir Oliver Humperdink. Oliver, what's going on with your boys?

Humperdink: Call me Sir.

Wildman: Yeah, whatever. Somebody tell me what's going on?

BG grabs the microphone.

BG: I'll tell you what's going down, Wildman. Nothing! Capital N, capital O, capital THING. Me and Kip have hit a rough patch and dropped a couple of matches. It's a competitive business, and you win some, you lose some. I promise you, Wildman, the Outlaws will be back and we will be badder than ever!

Wildman: A vote of confidence from BG- that's good to hear. Kip- what about you? If the Outlaws are back and badder than ever, why are you negotiating with Larry Sweeney?

Kip: That's MISTER ASS to you, pal. BG, there's something I just don't understand. We've been getting our butts kicked! We can't even win a measly first-round match in that second-rate Tradition tournament. How can you act like everything is cool? Cutting a fancy promo doesn't make a great tag team. I'm tired of losing matches and I'm tired of being out of the tag rankings. Yeah, I talked to Larry Sweeney. Then I watched his boys get beat too, so I walked away. It's time to lay it on the line, BG. If we don't win this match tonight- I AM OUT. It's that simple.

Wildman: Whoa! Kip- you're OUT? What will you do?

Kip: That's for me to know, and you to find out. All of you. Now let's go win this dad-gummed match and then you won't have to worry about any of that.

Kip shoves the microphone into the chest of the Wildman and storms to the ring, followed by BG and Humperdink. Humperdink stops for a moment and takes the microphone.

Humperdink: That's SIR to you, Mr. Narrator.



THE NEW AGE OUTLAWS (KIP JAMES & BG JAMES w/ SIR OLIVER HUMPERDINK) vs. THE BACKSEAT BOYZ (TRENT ACID & JOHNNY KASHMERE)
The match between these rival squads was long and intense. The Outlaws showed flashes of teamwork, but also showed lapses in concentration. As a result, the momentum of the match shifted back and forth repeatedly. The combined efforts of the Outlaws took their toll on Johnny Kashmere, who found himself on the receiving end of a double-team spike piledriver. It looked like a sure victory for the Outlaws, but Trent Acid came into the ring to interrupt the count. BG hit the ring, and a four-way brawl developed! Acid was dispatched from the ring, but when BG went to the top rope, Kashmere hurled him to the canvas with a crash! Johnny quickly tagged in Trent, who delivered a textbook Acid Bomb as Joe Kopasz was attempting to clear the ring. Humperdink attempted to protest, but Kopasz turned and counted the three on BG for the pinfall!

WINNERS: THE BACKSEAT BOYZ

Following the match, Kip stormed away from the ring. SIR Humperdink stopped him, trying to convince him not to leave. BG quickly joined the conversation, but Kip could clearly be seen shaking his head. BG became more animated and moved closer, but Kip shoved him away! In an instant, three men dashed to ringside and jumped on BG and Humperdink!

Daytondave: JIMMY JACOBS! What on earth?!? Fans, Jimmy Jacobs is kicking the daylights out of BG James! And he's got BRODIE LEE and TYLER BLACK accompanying him! This could get ugly in a hurry!


Kip stands by cooly and watches as Jacobs and his men put the boots to BG and Humperdink. BIG JIM THE ENFORCER and his Super Security Squad swarm to the ring area, pulling apart the brawlers as Kip continues to look on. BG and Humperdink are escorted back to the locker room. Jacobs and his men surround Kip, and Jimmy takes a microphone.

Jacobs: Mr. James... Mr. Sutton... get out of my sight. You have no place with me. You two are shallow and self-obsessed... delusional about your own self-importance. Only Mr. Sopp is worthy of my attention. Mr. Sopp sees the bigger picture. He sees the struggle of the individual for significance and the futility of knowing failure. Man is weak... and putting weak man alongside weak man only potentiates weakness. The pathway to true power, Mr. Sopp, comes through denial of one's identity and immersion into the greater purpose without regard to self. You have seen the truth, Mr. Sopp, and you have been awakened. You are no longer Kip James... no longer "Mr. Ass"... no longer Monty Sopp... you are "M". M... my friend... welcome to THE AWAKENING!

Jacobs extends his hand, and leads Black and Lee back to the dressing room. "M" follows closely, absorbing every word as Jacobs speaks until the group exits through the curtain.


Daytondave: What the heck did he just say? Jimmy Jacobs is a loon... and it looks like Kip James is about to follow him right over the edge. Guess we've seen the end of the New Age Outlaws. All right, fans- you saw it here just a few moments ago. Mike Quackenbush came out here and called his shot. He intends to come away tonight as the Warfare Combat Championship. But is he really ready to step up against a dangerous guy like THE MISSING LINK? Let's check out our main event!



MAIN EVENT: WARFARE COMBAT CHAMPIONSHIP
THE MISSING LINK (c) vs. MIKE QUACKENBUSH
Mike Quackenbush shocked the Heartland with his performance against Link! Link brought his brutality to the max, taking the fight to the concession stand, the locker room, and even the restroom! Link dropped Quackenbush face-first onto the sink, knocking him woozy, but Quack kicked out and the match continued. Quackenbush managed to stagger back to the ring, where he wrapped Link into the Chikara Special repeatedly to wear him down. Link retreated backstage, where he picked up a steel rod. But Quackenbush beat him to the punch, stunning Link with a kick to the gut. Quackenbush alertly grabbed the pole, smashed Link across the head with the pole, and covered him for a three-count!

WINNER: MIKE QUACKENBUSH

MIKE QUACKENBUSH CAPTURES THE WARFARE COMBAT CHAMPIONSHIP


Daytondave: Fans, do you believe that?!? Quackenbush did it! Mike Quackenbush has become you new HCW Warfare Combat Champion! If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, you never would have convinced me that Quack could take this fight to the hallways and come away in one piece, let alone beat Link and take his title. But that is EXACTLY what Quackenbush has achieved here this evening in Oberlin! What a sensational end to a very entertaining night at the matches, fans. But as you know, this is HCW and the action never stops. Be sure to tune in Saturday for the next edition of OLD SCHOOL, brought to you by JR JAMES! The show opens with JR JAMES in the ring with a microphone. As he prepares to address the crowd, he is interrupted when the arena goes dark and the Heartlandtron lights up. A feminine figure is shown, wearing black high heels. The camera slowly pans upward. Fans recognize the figure of the missing SHERRI MARTEL and they begin to chant, "SHER-RI, SHER-RI, SHER-RI!" As the camera pans upward, Sherri's face appears with tears streaming down her cheeks, causing the crowd to fall silent. A gasp is heard as the camera reaches the top of Sherri's head, revealing her to be shaved bald.

JR: Turn that off! Put the lights back on in this arena- NOW! Ladies and gentlemen, my deepest apologies for what we have just seen. Jim Cornette, you and your men have crossed the line this time, and believe you me, there WILL be hell to pay! I am deeply distubed by this turn of events. Wherever Sherri is being held, you can rest assured that Heartland is doing everything in our power to remedy this situation. We'll keep you abreast of any new developments. Meanwhile, ladies and gentlemen, we have a tremendous night of action indeed for Old School tonight! Since TEAM CANADA has won the Heartland Heavyweight Championship, we will need to determine the new number one contenders for the Old School Tag Team titles. We'll see the #1 Contenders' match as our main event tonight as THE VACHON BROTHERS take on THE ROAD WARRIORS! We also have a critial qualifying match for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in store as TAKESHI MORISHIMA takes on THE CRUSHER! Now, let's head to the ring for tonight's opening contest!

THE DESTROYER vs. KOKO B. WARE
The fans greeted the popular Koko with an enthusiastic cheer! But Destroyer was unimpressed, and took control from the opening bell. Koko accomplished very little as Destroyer put him away quickly.

WINNER: THE DESTROYER

JR: An impressive performance indeed by The Destroyer. He has already qualified for the World Championship Tournament, and he appears to be peaking at just the opportune time.

The fans erupt with boos as JIM CORNETTE and THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS appear at the top of the ring ramp. BOBBY EATON wears a long brunette wig to the ring, while Cornette carries a plastic bag filled with black hair which he tosses to the fans as he parades to the ring.

JR: Of all the DESPICABLE things I have ever witnessed!

STAN LANE smirks as the Midnights enter the ring and prepare for their match.



THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (STAN LANE & BOBBY EATON w/ JIM CORNETTE) vs. THE VALIANT BROTHERS (JIMMY & JOHNNY)
Despite the jeers of the crowd, the Midnights kept the cool. The Valiants and the Midnights went to battle in a tightly contested matchup. The momentum shifted repeatedly, but in the end the superior teamwork of the Express allowed them to prevail.

WINNERS: THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS
(Eaton pinned Jimmy after a Divorce Court)


JR: Give the devil his due, as they say. Cornette and the Midnights are a dangerous tag team! The hatred of the fans, and of HARLEY RACE and THE CRUSHER notwithstanding, these men are devious and they function as a unit. Tonight, the Valiant Brothers tasted defeat. Anyone who crosses paths with this group had best be watching their backs.



ANTONINO ROCCA vs. DON MURACO
Another grueling and intense match took place here, as both men went to the limits. In the end, the power of Muraco wore down Rocca. The fiery Argentinian took the action to the arena floor, but paid the price as Muraco planted him with a crushing powerbomb onto the concrete floor to win the match via countout.

Rocca was stunned, but got himself off the floor after the decision to confront Muraco. Muraco took a swing at Rocca, but Rocca ducked away and levelled Muraco with an Enzuigiri which sent the big Hawaiian careening into the steel ring post! Nick Patrick was quick to intervene, sending Rocca back to the locker room before any further damage could be done. Muraco was busted open, and left the ring area under his own power despite bleeding from the forehead.


WINNER (via countout): DON MURACO
(Rocca counted out after a powerbomb on the arena floor)


JR: No question, both men came away from that confrontation the worse for wear. Two volatile personalities clashed with disastrous results for both men.



GIANT BABA vs. MASKED SUPERSTAR (w/ SLICK)
Another hard-fought battle between two legendary stars! Superstar gave Baba all he could handle before the Japanese giant could capture the victory.

WINNER: GIANT BABA

JR: Baba has put on a fine performance indeed this evening. Whoever he faces in the World Championship tournament will have a formidable task. Superstar gave him a run for his money tonight, but Baba proved his mettle and brought home the victory.



THE KILLER BEES (B. BRIAN BLAIR & JUMPIN' JIM BRUNZELL) vs. GREG 'THE HAMMER' VALENTINE & BRUTUS 'THE GEEK' BEEFCAKE
After a series of grueling matches, the final tag match was over in a flash! After both teams exchanged a series of moves, Blair exploded on Valentine and dropped him with a Bee Sting for a quick pinfall!

WINNERS: THE KILLER BEES

JR: As I have proclaimed on numerous occasions, you never know what you will get from the Bees. On some occasions, you will see flashes of brilliance, like this evening. But other times, it seems that they are overmatched. Tonight, they took down one of the finer tag teams around, but one wonders if they have the fortitude to mount a sustained run of excellence.



NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT: QUALIFYING MATCH
THE CRUSHER vs. TAKESHI MORISHIMA
Fresh off his loss to BRUISER BRODY, Morishima exploded out of the corner and took control of Crusher from the outset. Crusher fought back gamely, but the power of Morishima was too much and the giant Japanese was able to put him down for the count.

WINNER: TAKESHI MORISHIMA

JR: Wow! Morishima just decimated one of the toughest guys in the Old School! Granted, Da Crush may be distracted by the absence of his favorite dame, Sherri Martel, at ringside. The show opens with Warfare General Manager DAYTONDAVE in the ring with a microphone.

Daytondave: Hey, fans, welcome to Wednesday Night Warfare! Heartland Championship Wrestling is all up in your area to bring you another rockin' night of professional wrestling action! We've got a couple of crucial matches set for tonight. The final spot in the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Tournament is up for grabs when a couple of Old School dudes hook up in our main event. We'll see KING KONG BUNDY and his controversial manager, JIM CORNETTE, in action against JOHNNY VALENTINE in what should be an awesome battle! We also have a Number One Contenders' Match for the American Tag Team Championship which will pit THE HIGH ROLLERS against LUNACY UNLIMITED! But first, fans, we have a special interview segment featuring my main man, WILDMAN BUTCH MICHAELS. So grab yourself a cold one, relax, and enjoy the show!

The scene shifts backstage where Wildman appears with CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI, BUFF BAGWELL, and COWBOY BOB ORTON.

Wildman: Thank you, Daytondave. I am here tonight with the members of SWEET & SOUR, INCORPORATED. As you know, their manager, LARRY SWEENEY, has left the Heartland to take the reins up at Tradition. We wish Mr. Sweeney the best up there. Rob Bennett is a smart promoter and he picked a good man to run his territory. But what is going to happen to his former stable here at Warfare? Mr. Claudio, tell us your plans for the future.

Claudio: Don't you worry for one second, Wildman. Larry Sweeney would never leave us out to dry. Larry has sent us a new manager to make sure we can continue to rule the Heartland!

Orton: A new manager? Claudio, what are you talkin' about? I never heard about no new manager?

Claudio: Yes, indeed! Our new manager is here tonight, and believe me, this is one dangerous lady!

Bagwell: Lady? Awesome! Who did Larry send for us? TRISH STRATUS? MICKIE JAMES? MADISON RAIN?

Claudio: See for yourself, gentlemen!

Bagwell and Orton turn around and await the arrival of the new manager. The locker room door opens and SARA DEL REY emerges! Bagwell's jaw drops as he eyes Sara. He begins to strut and flex in an effort to impress her, but Sara rolls her eyes and appears uninterested. Orton smirks and shakes his head. Claudio claps his hands and greets Sara with a polite handshake.

Orton: I don't know, Wildman. I never had a filly watching my back before.

Wildman: I know what you mean, Mr. Cowboy. The wrestling ring is a man's world! Looks like Sweeney sure screwed you guys over. Good luck with that.

Sara hears the disparaging comments and grabs the microphone from Wildman.

Sara: You don't think I can get the job done? Listen, you pansy, I am prepared to prove myself in ANY situation- man or woman, wrestler or referee, or even a smart-aleck commentator!

Sara rears back and delivers a crushing Yakuza Kick to Wildman. Wildman takes the blow flush on the side of the head and drops to the floor, motionless. She drops the microphone onto Wildman's chest and storms away from the scene. Bagwell steps back, looking over Wildman, his jaw gaping. Orton raises his eyebrows and rubs his hands together with an approving nod. Claudio smiles and leads his men to ringside for the opening match.

CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI (w/ SARA DEL REY) vs. STEVE CORINO
Corino was unfazed by the presence of Sara at ringside. After absorbing some punishment in the early going, Corino seized an opening and superplexed Claudio off the top rope! Corino rode this momentum to victory.

WINNER: STEVE CORINO

Daytondave: Kudos to Steve Corino! He was not intimidated by Sara Del Rey and he took care of business- big time! We'll see if Sara has any better luck later tonight. Both Orton and Bagwell are on the card in singles action. But next, we have a tag team match between two of the most brutal teams on Warfare!



PELIGROSO (TITO SANTANA & PEPPER GOMEZ) vs. BLOODLUST (DRAKE YOUNGER & JUSTIN CREDIBLE w/ JONNY FAIRPLAY)
The men of Peligroso executed their tag team strategy to perfection, isolating Credible in the ring and wearing him down. Tito locked him into the Figure-4, and he was barely able to make his way to the bottom rope and force Heather Owens to call for the break. Credible immediately left the ring, and Tito followed. Justin retrieved his Singapore Cane and gave Tito a wallop, prompting Heather to call for the disqualification.

WINNERS (via disqualification): PELIGROSO
(Credible disqualified for attacking Santana with a Singapore Cane)

After the disqualification, Credible took another swing at Tito with the cane! But Tito ducked the wild swing and speared Credible to the arena floor. The two rolled on the floor, exchanging punches, but both partners and Heather managed to pull apart the fracas and allow cooler heads to prevail.


Daytondave: Did I warn you? No surprise to me to see that situation break down. We've seen Tito and Pepper both show some flashes of a hot temper, and Justin with his cane sure brought that to the surface. Good job by Heather Owens to get that brawl under control.



COWBOY BOB ORTON (w/ SARA DEL REY) vs. TOM PRICHARD
Orton came to the ring, motivated by Sara to start aggressively. Orton responded, decking Prichard with a clothesline from the opening bell. Orton was relentless, crushing Prichard with a power slam and putting him down for the count with his vaunted Superplex.

WINNER: COWBOY BOB ORTON
(Orton pinned Prichard after a Superplex)


Daytondave: How about that! Orton's new 'filly' sure seemed to inspire him tonight. He dealt with Prichard almost as quickly and effectively as Sara knocked out my buddy Wildman! Butch, how's it going back there?

The scene shifts backstage. Wildman remains out cold on the floor.

Daytondave: Never mind, Butch. We'll check in with you later.



BUFF BAGWELL (w/ SARA DEL REY) vs. RICKY LANDELL
In Sara's third appearance, she paid dividends for her man. Landell launched into Bagwell with a flurry, dropping him with a Missile Dropkick and heading for the top rope! But Sara grabbed the ankle of Landell, distracting him long enough for Buff to catch Landell and hurl him down to the mat. Landell was slow to recover, and Bagwell nailed him with the Buff Blockbuster for the pinfall!

WINNER: BUFF BAGWELL

Daytondave: How about that! Sara certainly took care of business in that match. Two wins for her men in three matches ain't bad. All in all, I think Sweeney made a good choice for his men in bringing Sara Del Rey on board. And believe me, if I thought otherwise, I sure as hell wouldn't let Sara hear me say it! All right, fans, it's time now for the first of our double main event matches- the Tag Team Contenders' Match!



AMERICAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: #1 CONTENDERS' MATCH
THE HIGH ROLLERS (DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE & PLAYBOY BUDDY ROSE) vs. LUNACY UNLIMITED (DELIRIOUS & NECRO BUTCHER)
The Contenders' match was a full-out war, as all four men battled inside the ring and out. The Lunatics took every advantage of the rulebook, nearly getting themselves disqualified, but Heather Owens gave them some slack and allowed the match to continue. All four men battled to exhaustion before the Rollers finally prevailedafter a failed double-team attempt by the Lunatics.

WINNERS: THE HIGH ROLLERS

Daytondave: That was an outstanding match! The decision could hve gone either way. I thought Page was a dead man when Necro dropped him with the Tiger Driver, but my man DDP showed a lot of resilience and came back to score the victory. I think the title match between THE HIGH ROLLERS and THE NAPTOWN DRAGONS will be intense!



MAIN EVENT: NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT: QUALIFYING MATCH
KING KONG BUNDY (w/ JIM CORNETTE) vs. JOHNNY VALENTINE
Even in the uncharted territory of Wednesday Night Warfare, Cornette and Bundy were booed vociferously upon their introduction. The match itself was long and brutal. Both men fought aggressively and the match spilled out of the ring repeatedly. Neither man gained control, and Heather Owens again gave both men plenty of leeway to determine the better man. Valentine finally gained the upper hand after wearing out Bundy with a massive abdominal stretch. This brought Cornette to the ring apron, but Valentine whipped Bundy into a head-on collision which sent Cornette tumbling to the arena floor. The fans roared as Valentine finished off Bundy while Cornette lay motionless on the concrete.

WINNER: JOHNNY VALENTINE
(Valentine pinned Bundy after an Atomic Skullcrusher)


After the match, Cornette continued to lie unconscious on the mat. Fans dumped beer, popcorn, and soda pop all over the fallen manager. Bundy attempted to come to his aid, and also got doused by a full cup of beer before he could scoop Cornette off the floor and haul him back to the locker room.


Daytondave: Ha! Dude got exactly what he deserved. Maybe now he'll think about how he wants to treat SHERRI MARTEL. His gaffe tonight cost Bundy a shot at the NWA World Championship! Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy, if you ask me. But tonight, Johnny Valentine is your victor! He'll head to Michigan to compete in the 16-man World Championship Tournament, and we wish him the best of luck as he tries to bring the belt back to HCW. Valentine is a legendary figure in Dayton Wrestling, and no doubt he will represent us well. Before we go, let's get a reaction from WILDMAN BUTCH MICHAELS backstage. Wildman, your thoughts on that match?

The show opens with JR JAMES in the ring with a microphone. For the second consecutive week, he is interrupted when the JohnsonTron lights up. The bald head of SHERRI MARTEL appears again, and again she is seen with a tear rolling down her cheek. The camera pans around behind her, downwards from her bald head. Between her shoulder blades, a fresh tattoo is seen. The tattoo depicts a red heart surrounding an image of a smiling JIM CORNETTE. The fans gasp and boo loudly. Even JR is visibly shaken as he addresses the crowd.

JR: Ahem... good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Once again, I am embarrassed and ashamed about the interruption of tonight's broadcast, and I am profoundly apologetic about the graphic nature of what you have just witnessed. The situation surrounding SHERRI MARTEL has gotten out of control. It seems that Mr. Cornette, in addition to his own misdeeds, has enlisted the services of someone inside our own production team to further perpetrate this atrocity. My deepest apologies to all of you good people who have been compelled to become participants in this debacle. But indeed, the show must go on, and tonight we have a show that will be second to none! The Heartland Tag Team Championship match will be held tonight! BOBBY 'THE BRAIN' HEENAN has exercised his mandatory rematch clause, and his team of OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO will don the tights this evening in an effort to regain the belts from the new champions, ANGELO MOSCA & THE MOUNTIE! Now, let's head to the ring for tonight's opening contest!

BOBO BRAZIL (w/ SLICK) vs. DICK HUTTON
The rugged Hutton gave Bobo all he could handle, but a little strategizing from the Reverend Slick helped his man tag care of business and record a hard-fought victory.

JR: Win or lose, Dick Hutton will give you everything he's got. But Brazil is all man and a yard wide, and tonight he is your victor. Ladies and gentlemen, I don't know the meaning of this, but it looks as if 'DR. DEATH' STEVE WILLIAMS has come to ringside and engaged Hutton in some sort of a discussion. The two men are leaving the ring area together, and we'll be sure to keep a close eye on that situation. Now, let's head back to the ring for our next match.



THE IRON SHEIK (w/ NIKITA BREZNIKOV) vs. HARLEY RACE
Without Sherri to watch his back, Race was at a disadvantage against Iron Sheik and Breznikov. The Foreign Legion duo worked this advantage to perfection, as Sheik took advantage of a distraction by Breznikov to catch Race in the Camel Clutch and force a submission.

WINNER: THE IRON SHEIK
(Sheik forced Race to submit to the Camel Clutch)


JR: That is a tremendous victory for the Iron Sheik, ladies and gentlemen. Even in his fragile emotional state, Harley Race is one of the top grapplers in the world, and Sheik deserves all the credit for extracting a submission from such a dangerous foe.

As Race departed the ring dejected, JIM CORNETTE & THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS appeared at the top of the ramp.

Cornette: Aw, what's the matter, Harley? Are you feeling a little heartbroken? Well ain't that a shame? You lost your match tonight and you lost your precious Sherri. You're a loser in the ring, and you're a loser in life!

Race glares up the ramp at Cornette. He grabs a steel chair from ringside and heads toward Cornette, but Eaton and Lane quickly step between.

Cornette: Not one step further, Harley. If you EVER want to see your precious Sherri again, you won't lay a finger on me or any of my men. Not you, not Crusher, and not any of the so-called Heartland Security people. So BACK OFF, you ugly moron, and let my Midnights show you how to get it done in the ring!

Race considers his options, then drops the chair and departs through the curtain. The Midnights proceed to the ring as Cornette struts proudly down the ramp for the next match.



THE MIDNIGHT EXPRESS ('BEAUTIFUL' BOBBY EATON & 'SWEET' STAN LANE w/ JIM CORNETTE) vs. THE KILLER BEES (B. BRIAN BLAIR & 'JUMPIN' JIM BRUNZELL)
In a surprisingly quick decision, the Bees isolated Lane and stunned him with a series of double-team flying manuevers. Cornette was beside himself at ringside, but attempted interference by Eaton backfired. Brunzell brought the two Midnights together headfirst, sending Eaton tumbling out of the ring. This set the stage for a crushing double dropkick on Lane and a clean pinfall victory!

WINNERS: THE KILLER BEES
(Blair pinned Lane after a double-team dropkick)


JR: Perhaps a bit of overconfidence on behalf of the Midnights! The proverbial meeting of the minds proved costly for Eaton and Lane in that situation. I'm not sure whether the antics of Jim Cornette have been helpful to the Midnight Express in the long run.


A sudden eruption of cheers emanates from the crowd as CURT HENNIG appears at the top of the ramp, accompanied by his father LARRY HENNIG.


JR: Larry Hennig is back! The Axe has been on the shelf for weeks now, every since he was brutalized in an attack by THE VACHON BROTHERS. Let's see if his presence here this evening will inspire his son to victory.



MASKED SUPERSTAR (w/ SLICK) vs. CURT HENNIG
The match had barely started when THE VACHON BROTHERS showed up and jumped Larry Hennig at ringside! But Larry was more than ready for the onslaught. He immediately reached into his jacket and produced a set of brass knuckles, which he used to waylay BOTH the brothers! Larry chased the Vachons away from ringside to the applause of the crowd and the match continued without interruption. Unfortunately for Curt, Superstar was not distracted by the fracas and went on to overpower the younger Hennig and score a pinfall.

WINNER: MASKED SUPERSTAR
(Superstar pinned Hennig after a Spinning Neckbreaker)


JR: Wow! Curt Hennig came out on the short end of the stick, but indded the highlight of this match was the return of his father after a lengthy absence from injury. Here's hoping that the Hennig Family will return to form in the tag team division of the HCW and continue to meet with success.



BRUTUS 'THE GEEK' BEEFCAKE & GREG 'THE HAMMER' VALENTINE vs. THE FLYING REDHEADS (RED BASTIEN & BILLY 'RED' LYONS)
The "Dream Team" combo of Beefcake and Valentine were nearly flawless in their execution, beating down Billy 'Red' Lyons before blasting Bastien with a vicious double-team flurry to put him down for the count.

WINNERS: BEEFCAKE & VALENTINE

JR: Very effective teamwork indeed by the combination of Beefcake and Valentine. The Redheads never got started in that bout. Our next match-up is a rematch of a bout that really broke down one week ago on Old School. Unfortunately, our video production assistant, WILDMAN BUTCH MICHAELS, called off sick tonight. I think it had to do with him getting kicked in the head by the dangerous SARA DEL REY. In any event, we're going to make do without Wildman tonight, but let's revisit the scene from last week's match between DON MURACO and ANTONINO ROCCA.


A poorly edited video clip is displayed, showing Muraco planting Rocca with a crushing powerbomb onto the concrete floor to win the match via countout. Rocca was stunned, but got himself off the floor after the decision to confront Muraco. Muraco took a swing at Rocca, but Rocca ducked away and levelled Muraco with an Enzuigiri which sent the big Hawaiian careening into the steel ring post! Nick Patrick was quick to intervene, sending Rocca back to the locker room before any further damage could be done. Muraco was busted open, and left the ring area under his own power despite bleeding from the forehead.



GRUDGE MATCH: NO DISQUALIFICATION
ANTONINO ROCCA vs. DON MURACO
Both men were still heavily bandaged after last week's battle, but both were determined to get after one another! Tempers flared in both corners as the match spilled out of the ring early and often. Muraco brutalized Rocca, hitting him with the Asiatic Spike on the arena floor. Muraco repeated the move in the ring, leaving Rocca gasping and sputtering. But Muraco's methodical dismantling of Rocca was rudely interrupted when the Argentinian reversed a whip to the ropes and levelled Muraco with a flying dropkick! Muraco was stunned, but that moment was all Rocca needed set up the Argentinian Backbreaker for a clean victory!

WINNER: ANTONINO ROCCA
(Rocca defeated Muraco with the Argentinian Backbreaker)


JR: Sweet revenge for Rocca! Muraco is an angry loser indeed, but his vengeance will have to be postponed as Rocca slips from the ring and raises his arms in victory! I suspect it will take both men some time to recuperate from the violent nature of these past two encounters. Now, ladies and gentlemen, it's time for our Main Event of the evening!



MAIN EVENT: HEARTLAND CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
TEAM CANADA (THE MOUNTIE & ANGELO MOSCA) (c) vs. OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO w/ BOBBY 'THE BRAIN' HEENAN
The rematch was fierce between these two focused teams. Both were sharp in their execution and tagged frequently, keeping the fresh man in the battle. Mountie stunned the crowd by nearling pinning Baker with a short choke slam, but Heenan rallied his troops to mount a comeback. In a remarkable display of teamwork, Zbyszko dropped Mountie with a backbreaker, then tagged to Baker who finished his foe with an awesome Heart Punch!

WINNERS: OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO

JR: Ladies and gentlemen, history has been made, right here in Morehead, Kentucky! Bobby Heenan's team of Ox Baker and Larry Zbyszko have become the Heartland Tag Team Champions- for the third time! That is a feat which has never been accomplished in the history of Heartland wrestling! Heenan and his men are celebrating as they reclaim the belts. The Canadians shocked the world with their victory at Heartland Havoc XXV, and there will be a rematch for these two teams in the near future, but for this evening, the Heenan Family is once again the talk of the town in the HCW. Ladies and gentlemen, this has been a remarkable evening of professional wrestling action here in Kentucky. We thank you so much for joining us! The show opens with Warfare General Manager DAYTONDAVE in the ring with a microphone. The tune, "Crossroads" by Lynyrd Skynyrd plays overhead as the crowd buzzes with the opening of the show.

Daytondave: Hey, fans, welcome to Wednesday Night Warfare! Me and the boys of Heartland Championship Wrestling are proud to be here in Cleveland to rock your world with some dynamite wrestling action! We are rolling on toward our next pay-per-view broadcast and we've got some MAJOR announcements for you here tonight. Heartland Havoc XXVI: Bluegrass Brawl will be held in Lexington, Kentucky at the world-famous Rupp Arena in just two short weeks! HCW Heavyweight Champion BRUISER BRODY is scheduled to make a title defense to headline that card, and later this evening we'll have another very special announcement about a match that you will definitely want to check out! And tonight, we have a HOT main event for you, fans. The American Heavyweight Championship is on the line as the champ, DANNY HODGE, takes it to the mat against a stiff challenge from 'THE BEAST', DAN SEVERN! So grab yourself a cold one, relax, and enjoy the show!

CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI (w/ SARA DEL REY) vs. IVAN KOLOFF
Claudio finally was able to step up his game tonight, deftly reversing an attempted neckbreaker by levelling Koloff with a crushing European Uppercut. With Koloff down, Claudio capitalized and set up the Ricola Bomb for a pinfall.

WINNER: CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI

As Claudio and Sara celebrated, they were approached by a nondescript gentleman in a business suit. The man handed Sara an envelope, which she opened. After reading the enclosed paper, she and Claudio quickly hustled away from the ring area.


Daytondave: Nice match for Claudio tonight! Good to see him back in the winners' column on the record book. I don't know what is up with the envelope dude. We'll have to check it out.



JIMMY JACOBS (w/ THE AWAKENING) vs. DANNY DORING
Jacobs paraded to the ring, followed by his associates TYLER BLACK and BRODIE LEE. Between Tyler and Brodie was handcuffed the man called "M". (The wrestler formerly known as KIP JAMES.) "M" was shaved bald, and sat with a blank expression on his face, as if in a trance, as he stared at Jacobs in the ring. Doring seemed to be deeply disturbed at this display, and his performance suffered. Jacobs took control of the match quickly and forced Doring to tap out in a matter of minutes.

WINNER: JIMMY JACOBS

Daytondave: That was just... surreal. Jimmy Jacobs has a charisma about him that has really drawn people in. But I don't think that Kip- or shall I say, 'M'- looks any more awakened than he was when he was with the New Age Outlaws. We'll have to wait and see how these guys perform in the ring.



LUNACY UNLIMITED (DELIRIOUS & NECRO BUTCHER) vs. THE HEADSHRINKERS (SAMU & ALOFA)
The Lunatics dominated this contest! Delirious and Necro trapped Alofa in the ring and gleefully took turns pounding away at the helpless Samoan. Alofa finally fled the ring, but Necro followed and slammed Alofa onto the concrete floor. Joe Kopasz was tied up with Delirious and did not see the infraction, but turned and counted to 10 as Alofa lay stunned on the floor.

WINNERS (via countout): LUNACY UNLIMITED
(Alofa counted out after a Body Slam by Necro)

After the decision, Necro and Delirious gleefully continued to pummel Alofa. Samu came to his partner's rescue, and soon all four men were brawling around ringside.

As Necro and Alofa locked up, security officials streamed in to attempt to quell the fracas. But before the issue could be settled, THE MISSING LINK strolled to the ringside area. Link surveyed the situation, and without warning, came to the assistance of Necro and threw Alofa to the floor! Link grabbed a steel chair from ringside and slammed it onto the left shoulder of Alofa, who shrieked in pain.

Both Link and Necro seemed to enjoy this as they turned to one another and grinned. Link smacked Necro with a headbutt, and Necro laughed insanely. Necro blasted Link with a headbutt in return, and Link yelled and pounded his chest. Delirious ran circles around the two men, babbling wildly. The Headshrinkers quickly scurried away from the ring, and finally the security forces were able to corral Necro and Delirious and escort them away from the ring.


Daytondave: Unbelievable! I think it's love at first sight! Necro and Link appear to be soulmates- if that's what you want to call it. Fans, it has been one bizarre night here and we're just getting started. The guy I feel for most is STEVE CORINO- he's got to step in the ring with Missing Link in our next match-up.



STEVE CORINO vs. THE MISSING LINK
Link hit the ring filled with exuberance and immediately took control of the match. He was all over Corino, gouging the eyes, biting the forehead, and even smashing his foe with a steel chair. But Link's enthusiasm got him carried away, as he hurtled headlong into Joe Kopasz, knocking the referee out of the ring! Corino shrewdly fought back, hitting Link with a series of superkicks and suplexes until both men were worn down. Referee HEATHER OWENS finally dashed to the ring and took control of the match, herding both men back into the ring. Corino hit the ring first, and caught Link coming through the ropes with a superkick. He quickly followed with the Old School Expulsion and covered Link for a three-count!

After the decision, Link got up off the mat and glared at Heather. He roared loudly, towering over Heather, who shrieked in fear. Senior referee Kopasz came to his senses, and bravely dashed into the ring and stepped between Link and Heather. Link paused and scratched his head, and suddenly seemed to recognize Heather.

Daytondave: What's up with that? If I recall correctly, there's a history between these two!

Link eyes Heather, then slapped himself on the forehead. He held out his arms to her, and she cautiously came out from behind Kopasz. Their hands met, and soon they were dancing a stylish waltz around the ring!

Daytondave: Who knew the voices in Link's head could play the violin? Could this night BE any more twisted?

Link gracefully twirled Heather in a circle, then dipped her low. Link escorted Heather to the ropes, and held them for her. Link and Heather departed the ring together as the crowd sat stunned.

Daytondave: Fans, I am speechless! Let's get back to wrestling already. MIKE QUACKENBUSH, the Warfare Combat Champion, is headed to the ring for a non-title match. After this contest, Quackenbush has a special announcement about his plans for a title defense at Havoc XXVI!



MIKE QUACKENBUSH vs. KONNAN
The early stages of the match were controlled by Konnan, but in a flash, Quackenbush flipped his way out of an arm bar, hit the ropes, and floored Konnan with a running palm strike! Konnan was stunned, and Quack covered him for a quick pinfall!

Daytondave: What an explosive move by Quackenbush! He has taken his aggressiveness to a whole 'nother level! I don't think Konnan has any idea what hit him. All right fans, looks like COMMISSIONER LUKE is on his way to ringside to join us for the special announcement!

The fans cheer the beloved Commissioner as he joins Daytondave and Quackenbush at the announcers' table.

Luke: Howdy! How y'all doin'? Me 'n Quack been talkin 'bout the championships here in HCW. We got no Cruiserweight champ, we got no U.S. champ, and Quack here is our Combat champ. So here's what we gonna do. We are gonna combine all five of them belts!

Quackenbush: Three, sir!

Luke: Yes, siree! We gonna put all them belts together to create one major championship- a World Ultimate X Championship instead of all those five titles!

Quackenbush: Three, sir!

Luke: Yes, siree! We gonna have us a big match at Heartland Havoc X - X - V - I for the NWA Ultimate X Championship- a LADDER MATCH! We're gonna put three guys in the ring-

Quackenbush: Five, sir!

Luke: Five guys in the ring, and we gonna hang the X belt over the ring. The first feller to catch the belt wins the title!

Daytondave: Outstanding! Who will the challengers be, Mr. Commish?

Luke: Well, Daytondave, we gonna let Quack pick his own challengers! This match was his idear!

Daytondave: Mike, who will the challengers be?

Quackenbush: Daytondave, I have selected four worthy challengers for this unification match. First, the former Combat champion, THE MISSING LINK. Since the last U.S. Champion, Nick Bockwinkel, is still injured, I am inviting the previous champion, JIMMY 'SUPERFLY' SNUKA! And the final two men, in honor of our friends from Japan, will be ANTONIO INOKI and TIGER MASK.

Daytondave: What a match! Fans, you heard it right here- at Heartland Havoc XXVI, we'll see a five-man Ladder Match for the NWA Ultimate X Championship! Mike Quackenbush will compete for that title against Missing Link, Jimmy Snuka, Antonio Inoki, and Tiger Mask! I can't wait to see the fireworks when those five men hit the ring! Mr. Quackenbush, congratulations on coming up with an outstanding concept match to make history in the Heartland! All right, fans- back to the ring for some more Warfare action!



PELIGROSO (PEPPER GOMEZ & TITO SANTANA) vs. THE BACKSEAT BOYZ (TRENT ACID & JOHNNY KASHMERE)
The dangerous Mexican duo were ruthlessly efficient tonight, tagging out frequently and putting aside the Backseat Boyz with little difficulty.

WINNERS: PELIGROSO

Daytondave: Nice work by Tito and Gomez tonight. They taught the young fellas a real lesson in teamwork! Okay, fans, we finally have gotten things under control here and we are ready for out American Heavyweight Championship match!



MAIN EVENT: AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
DANNY HODGE (c) vs. DAN 'THE BEAST' SEVERN
Two of the toughest men in the Heartland hooked it up for a grueling battle. Severn overpowered Hodge and methodically wore him down. Severn used the German Suplex, the choke sleeper, and the bow and arrow to punish Hodge. The champ took the onslaught gamely, and stubbornly refused to take a step back. After a sustained assault, Severn finally locked on the Wakigatame and finally earned a submission!

WINNER: DAN 'THE BEAST' SEVERN

DAN SEVERN CAPTURES THE AMERICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP


Daytondave: Fans, a new champion has been crowned here in Cleveland! Dan Severn just dominated the latter stages of that match and has tapped out Danny Hodge! I tell you, fans, that is a major accomplishment- Hodge has been an awesome champion and it's not every day that a tough guy like that is forced to submit his title! Congratulations to Severn for an outstanding victory and the beginning of a new era for the American Heavyweight Championship! All right, fans, we're done here. It has been a crazy night in Cleveland- some truly bizarre events, and some outstanding matches! We hope you have enjoyed the show. Don't forget to tune in on Saturday Night for Old School! The show opens with Old School General Manager JR JAMES in the ring with COMMISSIONER LUKE. Above the ring, a banner is unfurled:

JR: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome back to HCW Old School Saturday Night! This is our final broadcast of Old School before the upcoming pay-per-view broadcast of Heartland Havoc XXVI! We are looking forward to next week's special event with great anticipation. And we are honored to be joined this evening by our esteemed commissioner with a special announcement about the main event. Mr. Commissioner, what do you have in store for us?

Before Commissioner Luke is able to speak, the arena goes dark and the PikevilleTron lights up. The figure of SHERRI MARTEL is seen from behind, with her head shaven and the face of JIM CORNETTE tattooed on her back. The camera begins to pan to the front, when suddenly a loud noise is heard. Sherri is startled, and the face of HARLEY RACE appears on screen briefly. Race is seen grabbing the camera, a crash is heard, and the screen goes blank. After a moment, the arena lights come back on.

JR: Oh, my goodness! Thank heavens that Harley Race has finally made it to rescue his manager! We can all breathe easier now that Miss Sherri is safe!

Luke: Yes, indeedy, Jimmy! I been worryin' sick about that little gal. Now, on to the business of the night. We got one week until Havoc, and we need a challenger to the Heartland Heavyweight Championship!

Another commotion arises at the top of the ring ramp. RAY 'THE CRIPPLER' STEVENS emerges along with BOBBY 'THE BRAIN' HEENAN.

Heenan: You need a challenger for Havoc? Look no further than this man! The Crippler has dominated the Old School. He's the United States Heavyweight Champion. In my opinion, his shot at the title is long overdue.

Luke: Now Bobby, you may be right. Ray Stevens done been on a roll like apple butter. But he cain't jes' stroll on out here and get his self named the top contender.

Heenan: What are you talking about? Nobody has been at the top since day one like the Crippler!

Luke: Naw, but there's a feller who has shot up through the rankins like a fire hose. If'n the Crippler can beat this feller here tonight, he can have the championship match.

Heenan rolls his eyes.

Heenan: Who could possibly challenge the Crippler? Are you nuts?

The towering figure of DAN SEVERN appears behind Heenan and Stevens. Heenan turns, and immediately appears shocked at the presence of the American Champion. He scowls, and quickly grabs Stevens and scurries back to the locker room. Severn slowly turns and departs through the curtain.

JR: Ladies and gentlemen, what a stroke of genius! The brand new American Heavyweight Champion Dan Severn is here! And it will be Severn versus Stevens in our main event tonight- with a Heartland Heavyweight Championship match up for grabs! Now, let's head to the ring for tonight's opening contest!

KING KONG BUNDY (w/ JIM CORNETTE) vs. KOKO B. WARE
Bundy and Cornette were visibly flustered as they came to the ring. Koko did his best to take advantage, ducking under several attempted clotheslines and nailing Bundy with a dropkick. But Bundy did not leave his feet, and he caught Koko charging the turnbuckle with a massive boot to the face! Koko went down like a shot, and Bundy clobbered him with the Avalanche and pinned him for a five-count.

WINNER: KING KONG BUNDY

After the pin, Bundy and Cornette hustled away from the ring, only to be met at the top of the ramp by HARLEY RACE and SHERRI MARTEL! Race held a microphone, but Sherri grabbed it from him before he could speak.

Sherri: Harley? Look at me! How could you let this happen?!? My hair... and this grotesque tattoo! This is all YOUR fault!

Race: Sherri... I'm just glad you're okay... it took us forever to find you!

Sherri: Okay?!? Do I look okay? You have no idea what you have put me through!

Cornette and Bundy snicker as Sherri unloads her frustration on Race.

Race: Shut up, Bundy, or I will break you in half! And Cornette, if I get my hands on you, it will be lights out! Sherri, you know I would do anything in my power to make this up to you.

Sherri: Anything? Like shave your head?

Race: Bring me a razor, I'll do it right now.

Sherri: Oh, no... you're not getting away that easily. You want me to trust you? Destroy those two men!

Commissioner Luke rushes to the scene and steps between Race and Bundy.

Luke: Wait right there! They ain't gonna be no violence on this here platform. Y'all are gonna settle this scuffle in the ring- next week at Havoc. And y'all are gonna settle it once and fer all- in a Steel Cage I Quit match! Harley, if'n you lose that match, yore head will git shaved.

Cornette smiles broadly and rubs his head, envisioning a bald Race.

Luke: BUT- Jimmy Cornette, you done caused enough trouble fer Miss Sherri. So, if'n yore man Bundy here loses the match- YOU are gonna climb into that cage and take yore lumps from Harley Race fer yore own self!

Before Cornette can protest, Luke pulls away the microphone and storms back through the curtain.

JR: How about THAT, ladies and gentlemen? Another confrontation between Harley Race and King Kong Bundy! And this time, the stakes have never been higher! Race is putting his hair on the line, for a chance to get his hands on Jim Cornette! Heartland Havoc is shaping up to be a VERY dramatic night indeed! And we're just getting started here this evening! Against the advice of the Heartland training staff, ANTONINO ROCCA is going to wrestle here tonight. Rocca is still pretty banged up after two intense battles with DON MURACO- but he is a gamer and wants to get after it! Let's see how he fares against THE DESTROYER here tonight.



ANTONINO ROCCA vs. THE DESTROYER
Rocca gave his best effort, and the Destroyer certainly had his hands full. Inside the ring and out, the battle raged on until Destroyer finally prevailed.

WINNER: THE DESTROYER
(Destroyer forced Rocca to submit to the Figure-Four Leglock)

After the decision, DON MURACO dashed to the ring and attacked the fallen Rocca! Rocca was helpless as Muraco put the boots to him. The fans were shocked when Destroyer himself joined in! Destroyer and Muraco beat Rocca savagely, and left him dazed and bloodied in the ring.


THE VALIANT BROTHERS vs. 'HACKSAW' JIM DUGGAN & STEVE 'DR. DEATH' WILLIAMS
Duggan and Williams came to the ring determined, and were accompanied by DICK HUTTON and BRENT ALBRIGHT. The match was a protracted battle, with all four men laying down the heavy lumber! Williams took over on Johnny Valiant, hurting him badly with a pair of Backdrop Drivers. It looked desperate for the Valiants, but Johnny finally made a frantic tag to Jimmy. Jimmy took control over Williams, and the brothers smartly cut off the ring and isolated Dr. Death. The savvy Valiants executed brilliant teamwork, taking down the Doctor with a flurry of double clotheslines and finishing him for a clean victory!

WINNERS: THE VALIANT BROTHERS

JR: What an intense tag team confrontation. No question, the ferocity of that competition has typified Old School professional wrestling.



DON MURACO vs. DON LEO JONATHAN
Intense boos filled the arena as Muraco returned to the ring. Muraco continued to nurse his own injuries, and was clearly a step slow against his powerful opponent. Jonathan was dispassionate, but seemed to savor the opportunity to punish Muraco as the fans cheered him on. The giant Mormon methodically took Muraco apart, and added insult to injury by forcing Muraco to submit to the Swinging Full Nelson.

WINNER: DON LEO JONATHAN

JR: A bit of comeuppance, perhaps? Muraco went down hard in that match, but he is still in better shape than Antonino Rocca after the beating he dished out earlier this evening.



JIMMY 'SUPERFLY' SNUKA vs. THE CRUSHER
Conspicuous by her absence was Sherri Martel, and Crusher went out on his own against the Superfly. Snuka used his quickness to great advantage, chopping down his bigger opponent and finishing him with a clean pinfall.

JR: An impressive win indeed for Superfly. Every part of this man's body is a weapon, from his head down to his toes. Ladies and gentlemen, it has been a remarkable evening here in Pikeville- and the best is yet to come! Let's hook 'em up for our Main Event!



HEARTLAND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP #1 CONTENDERS' MATCH
RAY 'CRIPPLER' STEVENS (w/ BOBBY 'THE BRAIN' HEENAN) vs. DAN 'THE BEAST' SEVERN
The game plan set up by Bobby Heenan worked to perfection! Stevens took some punishment from Severn at the opening, but he weathered Severn's attempts at submitting him. At the first opportunity, Stevens went to the air, using the ropes to great effectiveness to subdue the Beast and come away victorious!

WINNER: RAY 'THE CRIPPLER' STEVENS

JR: No question, Ray Stevens and Bobby Heenan are to be applauded for tonight's effort. But it will be a hard row to hoe for the Crippler when he squares off against BRUISER BRODY for the Heartland Heavyweight Championship at Havoc XXVI. Stevens has worked his way up the ladder and is clearly deserving of this opportunity, but he will be a heavy underdog heading into that match. The show opens with Warfare General Manager DAYTONDAVE in the ring with a microphone. He is accompanied by HCW Commissioner COUSIN LUKE and MIKE QUACKENBUSH, who is holding the Combat Championship.

Daytondave: Hey, fans, welcome back to Wednesday Night Warfare! Heartland Championship Wrestling is proud to continue its tour around the great state of Ohio. Whether the venue is large or small, Warfare will rock the house! This is the final broadcast before Heartland Havoc XXVI: Bluegrass Brawl! That's right, once we're done here, me and the boys will be rolling down to Lexington, Kentucky, for Sunday night's pay-per-view. And on that show, you can check out the most unique HCW match we have ever witnessed! This man, Mike Quackenbush, is putting his title up for grabs- literally- in a five-man Money In The Bank Ladder Match!

The lights in the arena flicker and go dim. Blue and green spotlights circle wildly through the air, before coming into focus at the top of the ring ramp, where JIMMY JACOBS appears. Jacobs is accompanied by 'M', TYLER BLACK, and BRODIE LEE. The group parades to the ring and Jacobs takes the microphone.

Jacobs: Small town America... the time has come for your Awakening! For too long, suburban slumber has paralyzed you and made you complacent... sitting in your high school gymnasiums... listening to the populist nonsense of a hipster doofus like this Daytondave... and glorifying mediocrity like this paltry excuse for a Combat Champion... Mike Quackenbush.

Cousin Luke grabs the microphone from Daytondave and confronts Jacobs.

Luke: Jimmy, what in the sam hill are you talkin' about? When I brung you back to Heartland, I never knowed just how loony tunes you have-

Jacobs raises his hand in front of Luke's face. Luke immediately falls silent.

Jacobs: I have no time to listen to the rantings of such a simple-minded fool. As I was saying... Mike Quackenbush- what do you know about Combat? You call yourself Champion- because you cracked some moron across the skull with an iron rod? You know nothing of the real combat... the fight for survival... the battle to preserve your very existence. You are a soft little boy in a hard man's world, Mike Quackenbush, and you have some very difficult and painful lessons in your future...

Quackenbush scowls and reaches for the microphone, but Brodie Lee steps in front of him and prevents him from speaking.

Jacobs: Mr. Luke... or shall I say, 'Commissioner'... your artifical titles do not impress me... you are merely a pawn in the grand plans of The Awakening... but I anticipate you will prove to be a very useful pawn in the end... Mr. Commissioner, I demand that Jimmy Jacobs be added to the Ladder Match at Heartland Havoc. The Ladder of ascendancy awaits for Jimmy Jacobs and The Awakening. Mr. Commissioner... do my bidding and make it so!

Luke: Ummm... okay.

Jacobs: It is accomplished! Mike Quackenbush, prepare to recognize the dawning of Combat in a fashion which you have never imagined. Prepare to be Awakened...

The lights flicker and suddenly go to black. Slowly, the arena lights return, and Jacobs and his entourage are nowhere to be seen. Luke appears puzzled. Quackenbush glares up the ring ramp with a face of intensity. He takes the Commissioner by the shoulder and guides him out of the ring.


Daytondave: That was just... freaky. Did I miss something? It feels like Halloween just came six months early. Anyway, fans, we have a big night of action in store for you this evening, including an American Tag Team Championship match! The champions, THE NAPTOWN DRAGONS, are here tonight to defend their belts against THE HIGH ROLLERS in our Main Event! So grab yourself a cold one, relax, and enjoy the show!

THE SANDMAN (w/ JONNY FAIRPLAY) vs. RICKY LANDELL
Landell and Sandman locked up in a highly competitive and entertaining bout. The momentum shifted repeatedly, and both men connected with big moves, but could not put the opponent away. Landell nearly took the pinfall with a Missile Dropkick, but timely distraction by Jonny Fairplay saved his man. After 15 minutes of back-and-forth action, Sandman surprised Landell with a Hardcore DDT and finally captured the victory!

WINNER: THE SANDMAN

Daytondave: Wow! Finally, after all the yapping, we get to wrestling- and Landell and Sandman delivered one heck of an opening match! Let's see if Jonny Fairplay can win with his tag team.



BLOODLUST (JUSTIN CREDIBLE & DRAKE YOUNGER w/ JONNY FAIRPLAY) vs. ANTONIO INOKI & TIGER MASK
The tag match was equally compelling, as the Japanese grapplers engaged the hardcore brawlers in another back-and-forth confrontation. The Japanese controlled much of the action, keeping the match at a slow pace in the ring, but Bloodlust broke loose with some punishing flurries on the ring floor to keep the match competitive. Younger wounded Inoki with a light tube, but when he went to the tube a second time, Joe Kopasz was forced to call for the disqualification.

WINNERS (via disqualification): ANTONIO INOKI & TIGER MASK

Daytondave: Another tough break for the Bloodlust squad- no pun intended! Fans, you probably remember the dude with the envelope who interrupted SARA DEL REY last week. After a little further investigation, we learned that her envelope contained a Restraining Order- courtesy of WILDMAN BUTCH MICHAELS! Fortunately or unfortunately, Wildman is still laid up with a head injury, thanks to Sara and her mighty Yakuza kick. If you ask me, dude had it coming. But in any event, Wildman is down and out, and Sara is free to be at ringside and do her thing tonight.



COWBOY BOB ORTON (w/ SARA DEL REY) vs. MIL MASCARAS
Yet another competitive bout took place, as the rugged Cowboy pummeled his foe and seemed to take the measure of Mascaras. But Mil battled back, twisting Orton in a variety of unnatural directions and weakening him for the flying finish.

WINNER: MIL MASCARAS
(Mascaras pinned Orton with a Crossbody Attack)


Daytondave: Mil Mascaras continues to quietly impress. That was an excellent performance! Dude took some heavy lumber from a tough opponent and came back to record the victory.


The scene shifts to the locker room area. BG JAMES is talking with SIR OLIVER HUMPERDINK.

BG: You know, Oliver, I am really worried about Kip. I get the fact that the Outlaws needed to split... but this 'Awakening' business has really messed with his head.

Humperdink: You're right, BG. This goes deeper than business. Jimmy Jacobs is gonna screw him up for good.

BG: I'm gonna go talk to him. If anyone can talk sense into Kip, it's me.

Humperdink: Be careful, BG. You think you should take KONNAN and STEVE CORINO with you?

BG: No, we need to do this man-to-man.

BG walks out of the locker room with determination.



SABU vs. TOM PRICHARD
The match was barely minutes old when Sabu went for broke! After dropping Prichard with a sweet hurracanrana, Sabu grabbed a chair and delivered a crushing Arabian Facebuster. Referee Joe Kopasz immediately took umbrage to the infraction and called for the disqualification.

WINNER (via disqualification): TOM PRICHARD
(Sabu disqualified for use of a steel chair)

After the decision, a brief scuffle followed as Sabu tried to press the attack. Prichard took umbrage to this aggression and fought back ferociously. Joe Kopasz quickly gained control of the situation and separated the combatants, ushering both men back to the locker room without further incident.


Daytondave: That's a whole lot of umbrage in that match.



The scene returns to the backstage area. KIP JAMES is seated on a chair. TYLER BLACK is shaving Kip's head while JIMMY JACOBS speaks.

Jacobs: M... my friend... you must leave the past behind in order to discover what truly lies within you... deep in your soul beats the heart of a champion... an unstoppable force... restrained only by the limitations of your own mind.

M: The heart of a champion? Jimmy, I have been a World Tag Team Champion time and time again!

Jacobs: Then why did you come to me? Because your Outlaws have failed you... your glory has faded... you have been foolish to depend upon BG James and Oliver Humperdink to facilitate your success... M, my friend, it is time to move on...

M: Jimmy... how do I move on?

Jacobs: It is a sad day for you, M... your attachment to your past will be your undoing... unless you can cleanse yourself from it... it is clear to me that you cannot break free from your shackles... so the only solution is that your past must be destroyed!

M: Destroyed?

Jacobs: You must destroy BG James... for your own good, M.

M sits silently as Tyler Black finishes shaving his head. His facial expression is blank as he ponders Jacobs' words. A knock is heard at the door. BRODIE LEE opens the door a crack, and BG JAMES bursts through.

BG: Kip- dude! What the hell happened to your dome, my man? You look flippin' ridiculous. Dude, we need to talk. Come on with me and let's work out our problems.

M rises from his seat and stares blankly at BG.

M: My biggest problem, Brian... is YOU!

M lunges at BG and begins pummeling him with fists. BG covers up and backpedals, then tackles M to the floor and attempts to restrain his arms. Black and Lee move in to attack BG, but Jacobs holds them back.

Jacobs: This battle is for M to face on his own...

BG: Get a grip, dude! Jacobs, I don't know what kind of nonsense you're spewing, but Kip is my bro and I ain't about to let you mess with his head like this. Now come on Kip and let's go grab us a cold one!

Jacobs: That is for M to decide. M, my friend... you have two options... you can turn your back on your true self... return to wallow in your past miseries... and go poison yourself with your drunken accomplices... or you can continue on the path to Awakening and destroy this BG in a First Blood match at Heartland Havoc XXVI. What will you choose?

M: I... must... I... must... I must fight for my future... Brian, you are dead to me... I must cleanse my soul with your blood to complete my Awakening.

BG: Whatever. Dude... KIP... if facing you in a match at Havoc is what it takes to clear your head, I'll do it. We have bled together before and I ain't scared to do it again.

BG gets up and storms out of the room. Jacobs helps M off of the floor and embraces him. M remains expressionless as the scene returns to the ring.



BUFF BAGWELL (w/ SARA DEL REY) vs. TAKESHI MORISHIMA
Morishima overpowered Bagwell, despite multiple attempts by Buff to prove he could match strength for strength with the giant Japanese. After a massive Superplex by Morishima, the Saito Suplex was the coup de grace and Bagwell's night was done.

WINNER: TAKESHI MORISHIMA
(Morishima pinned Bagwell with a Saito Suplex)


Daytondave: Morishima gets back on the winning side of the ledger, after a big loss to BRUISER BRODY. Rough night for Sara and the whole Sweet 'N Sour crew.


As Sara helps Bagwell to his feet in the ring, a commotion arises at the top of the ring ramp. WILDMAN BUTCH MICHAELS appears, riding in a motorized wheelchair. Both legs are casted, and he is wearing a neck brace. He is accompanied by two men in dark suits. One man carries an envelope. Wildman points at Sara Del Rey and begins to shout, "100 feet! 100 feet! Get that dangerous assailant away from me!"

Two uniformed police officers rush in from backstage. Sara quickly takes Bagwell by the arm and hustles him away from the scene.


Daytondave: Wildman? What is up with this? Isn't this a bit over the top?

Wildman points at Daytondave. The man in the suit hands Daytondave the envelope. Just as quickly, Wildman turns his scooter and departs through the curtain.

Daytondave: What the- ? We don't have time for this nonsense. We have a show to promote and a championship match! Let's get back to action.



MAIN EVENT: AMERICAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
THE NAPTOWN DRAGONS (SCOTTY VORTEKZ & DUSTIN LEE) (c) vs. THE HIGH ROLLERS (DIAMOND DALLAS PAGE & PLAYBOY BUDDY ROSE)
The Rollers took charge from the opening bell! A crisp attack with double-team moves and high-impact blows took its toll on the champions. The Dragons were unable to counter, and Dustin soon found himself isolated in enemy territory. Scotty managed one pin save, but when DDP dropped Dustin with the Diamond Cutter, that was all she wrote.

Daytondave: Now that's an impressive win for Page and Rose! The High Rollers have finally brought home the gold! It has been a long road for these guys, but they have hung together through thick and thin, and finally tonight their hard work has paid off with a championship victory! Congratulations to both these men for a job well done. Fans, it has been a bizarre night here on Warfare- don't you just love a happy ending? But in the world of professional wrestling, the show never ends! We'll be coming right back at you on Sunday night with the pay-per-view broadcast of Heartland Havoc XXVI: Bluegrass Brawl from Lexington Kentucky. The show begins in front of a rabid crowd of 10,000 fans at Rupp Arena! HCW Commissioner COUSIN LUKE is joined by Warfare GM DAYTONDAVE and Old School GM JR JAMES as the tune, "Crossroads" by Lynyrd Skynyrd plays overhead.

Luke: Howdy, y'all! Ain't it great to be here? Me and the boys of Heartland Championship Wrestling are proud to bring all y'all a great show! Daytondave, how do you like it here below the Mason Dixon Line?

Daytondave: Life is good, sir. Did you know... both JR and myself trace our ancestry back to the beautiful state of Kentucky!

JR: Indeed we do, my man! And no question, we would be remiss if we didn't wish a Happy Mother's Day to our respective moms, and to all of you blessed mothers in attendance here tonight and watching on pay-per-view around the United States! Just one question, Luke. What's with this noise that they are playing here?

Daytondave: That ain't noise, dude, that is Classic Southern Rock 'N Roll! What were you expecting... the Kentucky Mountain Boys? Ashley Judd? I don't think so. Lynyrd Skynyrd ROCKS- and tonight the HCW will rock the Rupp Arena!

JR: That's right, Daytondave! Our Main Event Tonight will be for the Heartland Heavyweight Championship! The champion, BRUISER BRODY, will be here to defend the gold against the Old School's own United States Champion, RAY 'THE CRIPPLER' STEVENS!

Daytondave: And that's not all, JR! We have three vicious grudge matches on the card for tonight, and two more championship matches! Luke- tell us about our first title match!

Luke: All righty! We got the brand new NWA ULTIMATE X CHAMPIONSHIP hangin' up over the ring! We got chairs! We got ladders! We got the ladder! And we got six men ready to climb the ladder and grab the title!

JR: Excellent! Let's head to the ring for tonight's opening contest!



SIX-MAN LADDER MATCH: NWA X-DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

The match opened with a violent flurry as Missing Link and Jimmy Jacobs brawled! Link waffled Jacobs with a steel chair! Link immediately tried to set up a ladder, but Jacobs prevented this. Jacobs came after Link with the chair, but Link speared him and both men tumbled out of the ring.

Link continued to make his presence felt, pitching Tiger Mask out of the ring and going back to the ladder, but Jimmy Snuka intervened and a tug-of-war over the ladder ensued, with neither man able to take control.

Tiger Mask and Jacobs dashed into the ring, and Tiger Mask outmanuvered his foe. Mask picked up Jacobs and executed a back suplex, sending Jacobs careening onto the ladder and opening a gash on the back of his head! Mask went for the ladder, but before he could set it up, Jimmy executed a diving senton from the top turnbuckle and sent Tiger Mask sprawling!

Inoki and Quackenbush dueled over a chair! Quackenbush kicked Inoki in the gut, then smacked him across the back! Inoki went down, and Quack went for the ladder. But Inoki recovered quickly, and smashed into the ladder with a dropkick! The ladder cracked Quackenbush squarely in the chest, sending him tumbling out of the ring.

Link and Jacobs continued a vicious brawl, and Link pounded Jacobs until Jimmy was bleeding profusely from his head wound. Snuka and Tiger Mask battled until both men tumbled out of the ring. Jacobs threw Link out of the ring, then caught Quackenbush setting up the ladder and also hurled him out to the floor. This opened the door for Inoki ti pitch Jacobs from the ring, but before he could set up the ladder, Quackenbush came to the rescue and pulled the ladder away. Quack gained control of the ladder, but Inoki dropkicked the ladder again, and again sent Quackenbush tumbling out of the ring!

Missing Link slid back into the ring, with Tiger Mask in pursuit. Tiger Mask sent Link reeling with a Jumping Spin Kick, but Link grabbed a steel chair and crushed Mask! Link went for the ladder. Tiger Mask tried to stop him, but Link kicked him away and continued to ascend. Before the other men could respond, Link made it to the top and captured the belt!

WINNER: THE MISSING LINK

MISSING LINK CAPTURES THE NWA ULTIMATE X CHAMPIONSHIP!


Daytondave: What a terrific match! Mr. Commissioner, I gotta hand it to you. That was one of the most innovative matches I have seen in the Heartland. Kudos to Mike Quackenbush for having the guts to put his title on the line in that match. Quack put up a great effort tonight, but Missing Link is a monster with that steel chair! You gotta be just a little bit crazy to win a match like that, and Missing Link is plenty crazy and then some!

JR: No question about that, Daytondave! The fans here at Rupp Arena are on fire! And the crowd has just erupted again- here comes the return of LARRY HENNIG!



TAG TEAM GRUDGE MATCH
THE HENNIGS (LARRY & CURT) vs. THE VACHON BROTHERS (BUTCHER & MAD DOG w/ NIKITA BREZNIKOV)
(Referee: Charles Robinson)

The crowd popped big-time for the return of Larry 'The Axe'. The elder Hennig came out with a flurry, drilling both Vachons to the roar of the fans! Some slick double-teaming with Curt sent Mad Dog reeling. Larry came in for the kill, but the crafty Vachons worked him over and wore him down. Finally, Larry made the desperation tag to Curt, who hit the ring like a house afire! Curt exploded on Mad Dog and put him away as the crowd cheered its approval.

WINNERS: THE HENNIGS
(Curt pinned Mad Dog after a Standing Drop Kick)


JR: How about that! A fine performance indeed by Larry Hennig in his return to action, but it was son Curt who made the difference in putting the Hennigs on top!

Daytondave: Good to see 'The Axe' back in the ring. But JR, the mood here is about to change. This next confrontation will be a dark and desperate battle between former partners BG JAMES and his best friend, the man formerly known as KIP JAMES. After months of frustration about the losses suffered by his team, Kip walked away in frustration. The diabolical JIMMY JACOBS has seemingly taken control of Kip and absorbed his identity. Now known simply as 'M', Jacobs has convinced him that the path to his destiny will require him to destroy BG in a First Blood match, coming up next.



FIRST BLOOD MATCH
BG JAMES vs. 'M'
(Referee: Joe Kopasz)

'M' was utterly dominant in this match, simply overpowering his former partner and punishing him. BG fought gamely, but no matter what he did, 'M' simply seemed impervious to the effects. After a powerful Cobra Clutch Slam, 'M' appeared to have BG set up for the Fame-Asser. But instead, 'M' reached down with one hand and grabbed BG by the throat! Using an inverted grip on BG's larynx, 'M' squeezed tightly, while BG gasped and slumped to his knees. Finally, BG broke free and rolled out of the ring, but 'M' pursued him. 'M' lifted his former partner with ease, and dropped him headfirst onto the steel ring steps with a vicious piledriver! BG went limp and collapsed to the floor, bleeding profusely from his forehead. Kopasz immediately ended the match and called for paramedics.

WINNER: 'M'

After the match, JIMMY JACOBS came to ringside. 'M' looked at Jacobs, seeming to search for his approval. Jacobs removed his belt and handed it to 'M', who whipped BG savagely across the back several times. Joe Kopasz bravely stepped in to shield BG from further harm. 'M' looked to Jacobs again. Jacobs pointed up the ramp way and departed with 'M' following closely. Paramedics tended to BG at ringside for several minutes, bandaging his head wound and helping him back to the locker room under his own power.


Daytondave: Gees! That is one of the strangest things I have ever seen. Kip James is like a lost puppy. Jacobs must have a bag of doggy biscuits back there or something. BG looks pretty banged up, but at least he was able to walk out of here.

JR: No question, Daytondave, strange things are afoot in Warfare! Let's turn our attention back to the ring for another top-notch championship bout. THE ARMSTRONGS continue to hold the United States Tag Team Titles, but they have a monumental task indeed ahead of them this evening as they defend those belts against the awesome destruction of THE ROAD WARRIORS!



UNITED STATES TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
BOB & BRAD ARMSTRONG (c) vs. THE ROAD WARRIORS
(Referee: Nick Patrick)

In a thrilling match, the Armstrongs defended their titles vigorously against the powerful challengers. The champions refused to take a backward step, as Bob Armstrong jumped on Hawk from the opening bell! But the momentum was short-lived, as the Warriors took over on Bob and pounded him down. Twice, the Roadies deliverd the Doomsday Device, and both times Brad alertly saved his father from defeat. Bob finally turned the momentum, taking Animal out of the ring and smashing his head into the ring apron! This allowed Bob to tag Brad into the match, and the fresh young Armstrong battled both Warriors while his father recovered. Brad took a fair amount of punishment before lunging to tag Bob back into the match. The wily veteran sought to slow the momentum down, isolating Hawk with a ground-based attack and wrapping him up in a Sleeper. Hawk was staggered, but powered out of the move. Bob smartly cut off the ring and prevented Hawk from making the tag, then slapped the big man back into the Sleeper. Animal tried to come to the resuce, but Brad stunned him with a dropkick. Nick Patrick watched the action closely, and in a few moments, Hawk become unresponsive and Patrick called for the bell!

WINNERS: THE ARMSTRONGS

THE ARMSTRONGS RETAIN THE UNITED STATES TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP


JR: What a shocker! The Armstrongs have successfully defended their titles!

Daytondave: I didn't see that coming!

JR: I don't think any of the good people of Lexington saw it coming, either, Daytondave. But the name on the marquee is WRESTLING, and the Armstrongs used their wrestling abilities and their teamwork to pull off an unexpected victory and hold onto the belts.

Daytondave: A happy night for Bob and Brad, without a doubt! But the intensity level is about to pick up once again, JR. The steel cage is being lowered from the rafters. KING KONG BUNDY is in the ring, and JIM CORNETTE looks like he's scared to death. Too bad he wasn't thinking enough to wear brown pants tonight.

JR: No question about that! HARLEY RACE is headed to the ring with a purpose. He intends to give Bundy a beating and finally get his hands on Cornette. SHERRI MARTEL is following close behind. Her head is covered by a scarf- she doesn't want the crowd to see her bald.

Daytondave: I can't say that I blame her, JR. The cage is closing now and I think we're ready to get the match underway.



STEEL CAGE: 'I QUIT' MATCH
HARLEY RACE vs. KING KONG BUNDY
(Referee: Charles Robinson)

In one of the most grotesque and brutal confrontations in the history of the Heartland, Race and Bundy went to war with the honor of Sherri Martel at stake. Race started with a full-fledged assault on Bundy, using his fists, his knees, and even his head to pound away at the bigger man. Once Bundy was worn down, Race took him to the cage and rammed his head and shoulder repeatedly into the steel! Bundy was lacerated, and Race grabbed a microphone and smashed it into the cut head of Bundy, but Bundy refused to quit! Bundy finally turned the momentum, stunning Race with an elbow smash and grinding him face-first into the steel. With Race staggered, Bundy went to work, using his massive bulk to overpower his foe. Bundy crushed Race with the Avalanche- TWICE- and it appeared Race could barely breathe! Bundy grabbed the ring microphone and wrapped the cord around Harley's neck, choking him to near unconsciousness as Sherri shrieked in horror. Not satisfied, Bundy grabbed a wooden chair from under the ring and smashed it across Harley's head! Wooden shards flew everywhere, mixing with the blood of both men. Bundy grabbed a shard from the wooden chair and jabbed it viciously into the open wound on Race's forehead! Blood filled Harley's eyes and he was unable to respond to Charles Robinson's pleas to surrender. Robinson called for the bell, and immediately stepped over the body of the fallen Race and prevented Bundy from inflicting further harm.

WINNER: KING KONG BUNDY
(Bundy forced the match to be called by referee intervention)


After the match, Bundy wasn't finished. Jim Cornette climbed into the cage and confronted Charles Robinson. As Cornette kept Robinson busy, Bundy crushed Race with another massive avalanche! Finally, NICK PATRICK joined Robinson in the ring to get the situation under control and usher Bundy out of the ring. Cornette crowed, and patted his man on the back as they left the ring area in triumph. Harley continued to lie motionless on the mat. Sherri turned and walked slowly away from ringside as the EMT's were summoned again. It took several minutes for the techs to carefully place Harley on a stretcher and wheel him back up the ring ramp.


Daytondave: A tragic night for Harley Race. He suffered a vicious beating from Bundy... and Sherri just walked out on him. It remains to be seen, what lies ahead for Sherri, and for Race himself. I already have a good idea what we can expect from Cornette!

JR: Tell me about it. Cornette will be insufferable after this victory. I am sure we will hear all about it. Now, ladies and gentlemen, it's time for our Main Event! The Heartland Heavyweight Championship match is ready to roll. Will BRUISER BRODY continue his dominance? Or can BOBBY HEENAN find a way to lead his man RAY STEVENS to the top of the mountain? Let's head back to the ring to find out.



MAIN EVENT: HEARTLAND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
BRUISER BRODY (c) vs. RAY 'THE CRIPPLER' STEVENS (w/ BOBBY 'THE BRAIN' HEENAN)

The match was all Brody from the opening bell! The champion dodged a dropkick from Stevens, then planted him with a one hand body slam. Brody immediately went to the Jumping Knee Drop, and it looked like lights out for the Crippler. But Bobby Heenan jumped to the ring apron, interrupting the three count from Joe Kopasz and allowing the match to continue! Unfazed, the maniacal champion planted Stevens with a piledriver! Stevens appeared to be on dream street as Brody hoisted him up for another piledriver. In desperation, Heenan ran to the announcers' table and rang the ring bell! Both Kopasz and Brody turned their attention to ringside. Seizing the opportunity, Stevens caught Brody from behind with a jumping knee smash, knocking him to the mat! Stevens went for broke, climbing to the top turnbuckle and launching the Bombs Away! Much to the chagrin of the partisan crowd, Stevens connected and went for the cover! Kopasz made the three count, and a new champion was crowned!

RAY 'THE CRIPPLER' STEVENS CAPTURES THE HEARTLAND HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP


JR: Ladies and gentlemen, history has been made right here in Lexington, Kentucky! We have a new Heartland Heavyweight Champion! Ray 'The Crippler' Stevens has captured the top prize in all of the Heartland! Stevens has overcome the odds and toppled the champion to become the king of the mountain in Heartland Championship Wrestling! Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan is beside himself with joy! The Brain now owns the Heavyweight Championship AND the Heartland Tag Team Titles! You had better believe he will be squawking to anybody who will listen.

Daytondave: No doubt about that, JR. Fans, it has been a terrific night here in Lexington. Belts have been won and blood has been spilled in the name of professional wrestling. Thank you for joining us here at Heartland Havoc XXVI!

The show opens with General Manager JR JAMES in the ring accompanied by HCW Commissioner COUSIN LUKE.

JR: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to beautiful West Virginia! For the first time in HCW history, we are broadcasting live from the Mountaineer State. We are honored to be here on the campus of Marshall University as Old School Saturday Night returns to action. We are on the heels of Heartland Havoc XXVI: Bluegrass Brawl, where you saw a historic night! Lexington, Kentucky was the scene where a new Heartland Heavyweight Champion was crowned. So, to kick off tonight's festivities, let's bring out the new top man in the Heartland, RAY 'THE CRIPPLER' STEVENS!

The spotlight shines at the top of the ring ramp, where Stevens emerges through the curtain holding both the Heartland and the United States title belts. He is accompanied by BOBBY 'THE BRAIN' HEENAN, and the Heartland Tag Team Champions OX BAKER & LARRY ZBYSZKO. The entourage struts to the ring together and Heenan takes the microphone.

Heenan: Thank you, JR! Have you ever seen so much gold? I tell you, it's a beautiful thing. You can call me Bobby, you can call me 'The Brain', or you can just call me 'The Manager of Champions'! Every major title in Heartland Wrestling now belongs to me! But you know what, humanoids? This United States Heavyweight Title is just so much extra baggage. Here you go, Commissioner, we won't be needing this one any more.

Stevens drops the US Belt onto the mat. The mood among the Heenan Family is festive as they strut back to the locker room.

Luke: Well, congratulations to you fellers. Y'all done good. And Mr. Brain is right that we need our United States championship belt back. We gonna have us a tournament to crown a new champion!

JR: Indeed we are, ladies and gentlemen! The United States Championship is officially vacant! And tonight, we will bring you the opening round of a 16-man tournament to determine the new champion! All the top contenders in the Old School- plus a few surprises- have been seeded. The matches are set and the action begins right here in Huntington! Now, let's head to the ring for tonight's opening contest!

(10) IRON SHEIK (w/ NIKITA BREZNIKOV) defeated (7) DON LEO JONATHAN
Sheik endured a lot of punishment before a distraction by Breznikov allowed him to catch Jonathan in a paralyzing Camel Clutch for the victory.

(1) GIANT BABA pinned (16) HACKSAW DUGGAN
After a brief battle, Baba flattened Duggan with a Neckbreaker Drop and scored a clean pinfall victory.

(5) JOHNNY VALENTINE defeated (12) CURT HENNIG by disqualification
Back-and-forth action kept this match interesting until Johnny wore down Hennig with the Atomic Skullcrusher. In desperation, Cuer went to the floor and whipped Valentine into the steel railing and got himself disqualified.

(3) NICK BOCKWINKEL defeated (14) TED DIBIASE
Bockwinkel made his return from injury a successful one. In a match punctuated by several violent encounters outside of the ring, Bockwinkel survived the Figure-4 and put DiBiase's lights out with the vaunted Sleeper.

(11) CRUSHER pinned (6) MASKED SUPERSTAR (w/ SLICK)
A wild and entertaining contest between two tough guys finally came to a conclusion when Crusher delivered a devastating Bolo to finish it.

(8) DESTROYER defeated (9) BOBO BRAZIL (w/ SLICK)

And next week, we'll see round two as the top eight men seek to move forward toward the ultimate goal of the United State Heavyweight Championship. As the show closes, the camera shifts to a hospital room. HARLEY RACE lies silently in bed. He is attached to heart monitors and chest tubes. His head has been shaven. Outside the room, SHERRI MARTEL is seen, also bald, wearing sunglasses and a scarf. Her face is emotionless as she turns away and leaves the ward. A large, shadowy figure greets her in the lobby. He places a hand on her shoulder and a deep voice intones, "Cornette will pay... I promise."

Daytondave: Hey, fans, welcome to Wednesday Night Warfare! It's a beautiful night under the lights and a great time to be a part of Heartland Championship Wrestling! We have just finished a sensational pay-per-view, and my man Luke is here with a very special announcement about an event later this summer.

Luke: Howdy! How y'all doin'? Folks, we got somethin' real special comin' up fer ya. This Fourth of July, we gonna bring y'all the very first Heartland Supercard! We're goin' on up to Philadelphia fer a night you won't forget. We gonna call it Heartland Freedom Festival 2009! We gonna have-

Suddenly, Luke is interrupted as a commotion arises at the top of the ring ramp. WILDMAN BUTCH MICHAELS appears, riding in a motorized wheelchair. Both legs are casted, and he is wearing a neck brace. He is accompanied by two men in dark suits. One man carries an envelope.

Daytondave: Another envelope? Wildman, what on earth is your problem?

Wildman: Not MY problem, Daytondave. YOUR problem, and Luke's problem. Warfare is an unsafe work environment.

Daytondave: That's a load of crap. The only unsafe thing around here is you, running your mouth and getting your butt kicked. All this wheelchair and casts is BS and we both know it.

Wildman: Tell your story walking, pretty boy. I'll see you in court.

Daytondave: In COURT?

Wildman: That's right. When my attorneys are finished with you, I'm gonna own this company!

Daytondave: Dream on, you pathetic liar!

Daytondave throws his headset onto the desk in disgust. He storms away from the ring. Luke appears confused, and chases after Daytondave. Wildman pulls his wheelchair around to the announcers' table and picks up the script.

Wildman: Um... Hey, fans, welcome to Wednesday Night Warfare! It's a beautiful night under the lights and a great time to be a part of Heartland Championship Wrestling! We have just finished a sensational pay-per-view, and my man Luke is here- oh... I think he said that already....

One of Wildman's attorneys whispers into his ear. Wildman shuffles through the papers on the table and begins to read again.

Wildman: This summer, Warfare is starting a Team Challenge! We have eight teams, four guys each... two singles and a tag match... whichever team wins the most matches will be the winner... show graphic...

As Wildman stammers, a graphic appears on the Sports Park Scoreboard:

But the Backseat Boyz and Landell began arguing at ringside. Orton took advantage of the distraction and planted Quackenbush with a brutal spinebuster onto the hard ground outside the ring. As his teammates continued to squabble, Todd Sinclair completed the 10-count and Quackenbush was unable to return to the ring.

The fans groan as DAYTONDAVE makes his way to ringside.

JR: Welcome, Daytondave, to Old School Saturday Night!

Daytondave: It's great to be here, JR. I always heard that Charleston, West Virginia, was the butt cleavage capital of the world. And sure enough, tonight's visit did not disappoint.

The fans boo.

JR: Thanks a lot, Daytondave. I bring you in out of the cold and you immediately show up and insult the fans of Old School. Enough out of you! Let's get back to business. We have an exciting show tonight, ladies and gentlemen, on our way to Freedom Festival in Philadelphia. Tonight we will see Round Two of our tournament to crown a new United States Champion! And, We have a second tournament on tap, to determine the new #1 contenders to the U.S. Tag Team Title! Eight teams have been selected to compete, and the winners will take on BOB & BRAD ARMSTRONG for the Tag Team belts! Now, let's head to the ring for tonight's opening contest!

After a closely contested initial exchange, Doc made the mistake of climbing to the top turnbuckle. Valentine pitched him to the mat and took control, punishing Williams relentless before putting him away.

Daytondave: Let's just say that we have a plan in place to remedy that problem, JR.

JR: Remedy the problem? Is that a threat?

Daytondave: Not a threat, JR. A promise. Wildman will be dealt with- and I know just the man to get the job done.

JR: Some cryptic comments indeed, Daytondave. Now, before we complete tonight's action, we would be remiss if we did not recognize the tremendous performance by TAKESHI MORISHIMA in capturing the NWA World Heavyweight Championship!

Daytondave: You got that right, JR. Morishima stepped up his game, big time. Kudos also to ROB BENNETT- dude did a great job making that tournament happen. He is a creative guy and one of the forces that will move the NWA forward in a major way.

JR: No question, congratulations to both Morishima and Rob Bennett. Now, back to our own business for the evening. Let's head back to the ring for our next contest.

Red Bastein thrilled the crowd with some dynamic aerial moves, but the Redheads were soon overpowered by the dominant Road Warriors and put away for an impressive victory.

In another stunning upset, Sheik ambushed Snuka at the opening bell and knocked him to the mat. The crafty Sheik was relentless, using repeated applications of the Camel Clutch and finally forcing Snuka to tap out.

The card concluded with a second stunning upset when top-seeded Giant Baba was taken out by the Intelligent, Sensational Destroyer! Destroyer capitalized on a fracas outside of the ring, stunning Baba with a swift punch to the face, then quickly returning to the ring to apply the figure-4 leglock. Baba was unable to escape the tortuous hold, and forced to submit!

JR: How about that? Two major upsets here in Charleston! Both of the top two seeds in the United States Championship tournament have tasted defeat here this evening! The show opens with WILDMAN BUTCH MICHAELS at the top of the ring ramp, still riding his motorized wheelchair. He wears a soft cervical collar, and both legs remain casted. He is accompanied by his legal team, BRADLEY LAW DAVIS and MICHAEL RICHARD FAY. He wears a pained expression as he makes his way down the ring ramp. The outdoor venue is crowded with fans, who boo loudly as Butch pulls in at ringside. Attorney Davis hands him the microphone and he addresses the crowd.

Butch: What? Why are you booing me? Just so you know, the judge says my lawsuits will be settled any day now. And we expect to be complete owners of Wednesday Night Warfare. I can do this better than that loudmouth DAYTONDAVE. And you can forget about that big bully SARA DEL REY. Once I get in charge, she will be fired for good!

Butch's ramblings are suddenly interrupted by the tune, "More, More, More" by the Andrea True Connection. The fans gasp as LARRY SWEENEY struts to ringside.

Butch: Hey! What are you doing here? Mr. Fay, make this man get off of my show!

Sweeney: Now, fellas, just hold on to your britches there. I have a ticket, and I have every right to be here. And since I was feeling so generous tonight, I decided to invite a few friends along!

Sweeney waves, and momentarily he is joined by the members of Sweet 'N Sour, Incorporated: CLAUDIO CASTAGNOLI, BOB ORTON, BUFF BAGWELL, & EDDIE KINGSTON. Claudio and Bagwell engage the legal team in a conversation, which seems to center around the intricacies of Claudio's bank account. Kingston moves behind Butch and begins pushing his wheelchair toward nearby Lake Erie.

Orton: Now listen here, Butch. You a slow healer or something? I never saw someone take so long to recover from a few little bumps and bruises.

Sweeney: That's right, Butch! We're on to your little scam. You're sandbagging it and your lawsuit is a fraud. Now maybe you have a restraining order against Sara, and you have managed to put Daytondave into exile, but I ain't about to sit by and let you abuse my friends like that!

Kingston continues to push Butch in his wheelchair closer to the edge of the lake.

Butch: Stop that! Stop, or I'll sue! I can't swim in my condition! I'll drown! In front of all these witnesses!

Sweeney: Aw, what's the matter, Butch? Big man like you can't take care of himself?

Butch turns around rapidly in his chair to look for his attorneys. Both are still engaged with Bagwell and Claudio, with a sizable roll of cash changing hands. As Butch spins around, his neck collar falls to the ground. Before he realizes the collar is gone, he continues to swivel his head around in desperation as the wheelchair inches closer to the lake.

Orton: Butch! Dude! You're lookin' great, my man! How about those legs?

At that moment, SARA DEL REY emerges from behind a tree and screams into the face of Butch. In a panic, Butch leaps from the wheelchair and splashes face-first into the lake. He jumps to his feet, ripping the casts off his legs and dashing away from the park. Claudio and Bagwell smirk at the attorneys, who hand the cash back to Claudio and sheepishly skulk away from the park. The music, 'Big Man on Mulberry Street' by Billy Joel plays, and DAYTONDAVE emerges from the clubhouse and strides to the ring as the fans roar. Daytondave greets Sweeney with a handshake and an embrace as he takes the microphone.


Daytondave: Hey, fans, it is GREAT to be back! And a special thanks to my main man LARRY SWEENEY for bailing me out of that predicament. I should have known that Wildman couldn't be trusted before I ever hired him.

Sweeney: Just happy I could help, my man!

Daytondave: Larry, you're a genius. I owe you one! But on to the business of the night. As my good friend JR JAMES would say, 'The name on the marquee is Wrestling'- and we've got some great action for you tonight as we conclude the opening round of the Warfare Team Challenge. The most brutal confrontation of Round 1 started off when Sabu took on the much larger Brodie Lee. But Sabu was not intimidated, taking the fight right to Lee and stunning him quickly. Sabu tortured Lee with a Camel Clutch, and easily put aside the attempted interference of JIMMY JACOBS before finishing the overmatched foe.

JUSTIN CREDIBLE & DRAKE YOUNGER vs. JIMMY JACOBS & 'M'
The brutality continued in the second match, as the enigmatic Jacobs led 'M' into tag team action. Drake Younger took control of Jacobs in the early going, until his offensive was interrupted by a fierce kick to the groin by Jacobs. Younger took exception, and the action immediately spilled out of the ring. All four competitors took to brawling, and Joe Kopasz was unable to regain control. Kopasz tried to corral Younger back into the ring, but Jacobs shoved the referee aside and went after his foe. In frustration, Kopasz called for the bell and disqualified Jacobs.

Enraged, Jacobs sent 'M' after Younger to continue the assault. But Credible stepped between and whacked 'M' with his cane. 'M' dropped to one knee, and Kopasz quickly ushered Fairplay's men back into the ring to quell the situation. As 'M' staggered to his feet, Jacobs smacked him across the back of the head, screaming at him due to his failure to subdue Younger.

In his HCW debut, Black was very impressive! Tyler took control quickly and dazzled Sandman with an aerial flurry. Before Sandman knew what hit him, Black clobbered him with an enzuigiri and covered him for a pinfall!

Daytondave: That was an incredible match by Tyler Black- this kid can go! Too little, too late for The Awakening as Fairplay and his squad comes away victorious. Our other match-up tonight will pit the "FILTHY BEASTS", a unit featuring a couple of new faces, taking on a goofy collection of dudes calling themselves 'LUNACY UNLIMITED'.

Without warning, the tune, "Yakety Sax" fills the air. DELIRIOUS, NECRO BUTCHER, ULTRAMANTIS BLACK, and MISSING LINK dash to ringside, running about wildly. Momentarily, they are joined by a young blonde woman in a cavegirl outfit, dashing about and kicking each member of LU on the behind as they scramble about madly.

Daytondave: HEATHER OWENS!?!?! I knew she quit her referee job- but for this?

The music stops abruptly as the members of THE FILTHY BEASTS appear. The beasts are clad in black leather and chains, looking totally bad-ass in contrast to the wacky scene in the ring.

Daytondave: Talk about your contrasting styles. How will this match-up between the Beasts and Lunacy play out?



LUNACY UNLIMITED vs. THE FILTHY BEASTS

ULTRAMANTIS BLACK vs. CHUCK TAYLOR
The opening bout between these HCW newcomers was highly entertaining. The momentum shifted back and forth repeatedly until Taylor pulled a grenade! Ultramantis somehow survived the blast, but in the ensuing chaos, Taylor levelled him with a running spear for a clean pinfall.

WINNER: CHUCK TAYLOR

DELIRIOUS & NECRO BUTCHER vs. SCOTTY VORTEKZ & DUSTIN LEE
Another highly competitive bout took place between two established tag teams. Delirious and Necro dominated most of the action and wore down both members of the Dragons. But Scotty saw an opening, and drilled Necro outside of the ring with a fabulous Slingshot Plancha! Scotty seized the moment, and brought Dustin into the ring for a double-team Kiss of the Dragon. Lee then dispatched Necro and aalowed Vortekz to cover Necro for the victory.

MISSING LINK vs. ERICK STEVENS
The card ended with another hard-hitting and competitive match-up. Both men came with characteristic intensity and pummeled each other without mercy. In the end, it was alertness by Stevens which prevailed, as he grabbed Link from the top rope and slammed him viciously to the canvas to set up his finisher.

Daytondave: Whoa- a clean sweep for the Filthy Beasts! All three of those matches could have gone either way- but in the end, the Beasts move on to lock horns with the HOUSE OF HARDCORE on next week's Warfare. That confrontation will be epic! Also next week, it will be the return of SWEET 'N SOUR INCORPORATED to face off against the team which looks to be favored to win this competition, THE NATION OF HONOR. Fans, it has been a great night here in Ashtabula- and it is great to be back behind the microphone! We have both the United States Heavyweight Championship and the U.S. Tag Team Title tournaments in full swing here this evening. One week from tonight, we will be coming to you with a special pay-per-view broadcast of Heartland Havoc XXVII: The Road to Freedom from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! Before we get things started in the ring, I have a very special guest to present. Making her first appearance since the shocking events at Bluegrass Brawl, please welcome SHERRI MARTEL!

The fans are shocked and applaud vigourously as Sherri makes her way slowly to the ring. She is dressed in black, with black sunglasses and a black scarf.

JR: Sherri, thank you so much for joining us here this evening. You have been through a great deal of pain, physically and mentally, over the past few months. How are you feeling?

Sherri: I don't feel anything.

JR: Okay..... I understand that.... can you give us an update on the condition of HARLEY RACE?

Sherri: Who?

JR: Harley Race. The man who you managed... the man who rescued you from JIM CORNETTE and KING KONG BUNDY.

Sherri: That name is blotted out of my memory. There is no past... there is only vengeance. King Kong Bundy, I will destroy you.

A commotion arises at the top of the ring ramp as Bundy and Cornette arrive.

Cornette: Well listen to Sinead O'Connor up there! Vengeance? Sister, you are lucky to be alive, and not a fossil like your old man Harley.

Sherri remains motionless as Cornette and Bundy taunt her. Bundy rubs his hand over his bald head.

Bundy: Aw, come on, Sherri! Lighten up! Bald is beautiful!

Bundy is interrupted when a massive forearm slams across his back. Cornette is shoved to the floor and rolls down the ring ramp. KILLER KOWALSKI emerges from behind the curtain and begins putting the boots to Bundy!

JR: KILLER KOWALSKI! Kowalski and Bundy are brawling on the stage!

Referees and officals dash from the locker room as the crowd chants, "Let them fight! Let them fight!" Bundy scurries down the ramp and out of harm's way as Cornette ducks behind him.

Sherri: There will be vengeance... I promise.

Sherri walks out of the ring and joins Kowalski on the ramp. Killer gently leads her through the curtain. Bundy and Cornette look on, stunned.


JR: What's wrong, Bundy? Cat got your tongue? Hold that thought- next week at Havoc in Pittsburgh- you are signed to meet Killer Kowalski one-on-one!

The fans erupt with applause as Cornette goes berserk and Bundy storms out of the ring area.

JR: Fans, I cannot wait to see that collision. Bundy has it coming... and Kowalski may just be the man to deliver. Ladies and gentlemen, we have four exciting tournament matches tonight. But before we get into those bouts, we have a special opening match for you. A rookie here in Old School will be making his debut. This tough guy has joined forces with DICK HUTTON, HACKSAW JIM DUGGAN, and DR. DEATH STEVE WILLIAMS to form an alliance known as THE SOUTHWEST STAMPEDE SQUAD. Ladies and gentlemen, please give a warm welcome to our newest wrestler, BRENT ALBRIGHT! Now, let's head to the ring for tonight's opening contest!

BRENT ALBRIGHT (w/ DICK HUTTON) vs. KOKO B. WARE
The powerhouse Albright and the athletic Koko put on a great opening match. Albright displayed his power, tossing Koko around the ring, but the Birdman came back with some aerial flurries that sent Albright reeling. Albright slowed the pace down, tying up Koko in a painful sharpshooter as Hutton shouted his encouragement. Koko finally managed to escape and slide out of the ring, where he took exception to the shouting from Hutton. Albright followed Ware to the floor where a brief fracas broke out. Strangely, Koko refused to quit brawling and finally pressed the issue to the point of a disqualification.

After the decision, the brawl continued briefly until BIG JIM THE ENFORCER came to ringside and escorted Koko back to the locker room.
WINNER: (via disqualification): BRENT ALBRIGHT


JR: Wow! That was some serious intensity indeed. Albright brings his "A" game every night, and Koko has been known to have a temper. But in the end, it is Albright who emerges with the victory in his Old School debut. Now, ladies and gentlemen, we'll take our first look in Old School of the team of PELIGROSO- the dangerous duo of TITO SANTANA & PEPPER GOMEZ, who have come to town to challenge for the U.S. Tag team championship!



UNITED STATES TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: FIRST ROUND
(5) THE VALIANT BROTHERS vs. (4) PELIGROSO (PEPPER GOMEZ & TITO SANTANA)
Frequent tags and brutal double-teaming propelled the Valiant Brothers to an opening round victory against the newcomers. Johnny Valiant was particularly effective, putting both men down with a flurry and dropping Santana for the pinfall.

WINNERS: THE VALIANT BROTHERS

JR: So, the first match for these Mexican heels in the Old School ends in defeat. No question, you can't just show up here and take our tag teams for granted! Over the past several months, the KILLER BEES have quietly compiled a most impressive record, and they coe into this tournament as the number one seed! Let's see how they fare in this opening round match against the dangerous VACHON BROTHERS.

As the Bees make their way to the ring, the Vachon Brothers burst through the curtains and back-jump them on the ring ramp! Mad Dog surprises Blair with a chop block to the left knee. Blair collapses to the ramp as the officials stream in to quell the fracas. Brunzell helps Blair to his feet, and he insists upon heading to the ring in spite of Brunzell's attempts to convince him to return to the locker room.



UNITED STATES TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP: FIRST ROUND
(8) THE VACHON BROTHERS (w/ NIKITA BREZNIKOV) vs. (1) THE KILLER BEES (B. BRIAN BLAIR & 'JUMPIN' JIM BRUNZELL)
With Blair hobbled, Brunzell started the match and took the measure of both Vachon Brothers. Mad Dog nearly succumbed to the Sleeper, but managed to manuver Brunzell to the corner, where both Vachons went to work on him. When Nick Patrick tried to get the match under control, he found himself in the middle of a collision and was knocked to the floor! Blair took the opportunity to hit the ring, then leaped off the apron to nail Mad Dog with a slingshot plancha! But Butcher remained the legal man in the ring, and as Patrick recuperated, he was able to put away Brunzell with a Hangman to take the victory.

WINNERS: THE VACHON BROTHERS

JR: It would appear that the underhanded tactics of the Foreign Legion have once again proven to be successful. These Vachon Brothers are as dangerous as the Bees are inconsistent, no question about it. Moving on, let's pick up the semifinal matches from the United States Heavweight Championship Tournament!



UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: SEMIFINAL MATCH
(10) THE IRON SHEIK (w/ NIKITA BREZNIKOV) vs. (3) NICK BOCKWINKEL
Bockwinkel continued his impressive roll to the championship, easily dispatching Sheik in under three minutes!

WINNER: NICK BOCKWINKEL
(Bockwinkel knocked out Sheik with the Bockwinkel Sleeper)


JR: Very impressive! Indeed, Sheik stood no chance against the dominance of Nick Bockwinkel on this occasion. Who will Bockwinkel face in the championship match next week at Havoc? We're about to find out in tonight's Main Event!



UNITED STATES HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: SEMIFINAL MATCH
(8) THE DESTROYER vs. (5) JOHNNY VALENTINE
Another dramatic upset for The Destroyer! The intelligent, sensational one took control at the opening bell and outfoxed Valentine. After a tortuous Singl Leg Boston Crab, Valentine left the ring, but Destroyer caught him and smashed his head onto the ringside table! Valentine was clearly shaken, and Destroyer took advantage, wrapping him into a Figure-Four Leglock and earning a submission victory!

WINNER: THE DESTROYER
(Destroyer forced Valentine to tap out to the Figure-Four)


JR: The Destroyer really took the fight to his man in that match-up! So, we will see Destroyer take on Nick Bockwinkel one week from tonight, Heartland Havoc XXVII, for the United States Championship! You will not want to miss that confrontation of Old School icons from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania!
