I've noticed that the boards have been split into two groups. Now I know Chris may not want me talking about it, but I thought I'd bring it up because I see some similarities between what is happening here and what happened with the old yahoo egroups.
This to me seems to be somewhat of a problem. We've split into two factions, and it will only get worse. Soon there will be 3 different boards..then 4...then 5....until basically this place is a graveyard. It's what killed the egroups and will probably be what ultimately hurts the boards.
And this has all happened because people on the boards don't like each other. I don't understand why people can't act like adults and just coexist. This hurts the community in the long run. It's way to hard to divide time between two different boards..
I get the feeling that the other board has an holier then though opinion of themselves and feel no trolling will happen where they reside. Unfortunately, thats not possible. Soon it will get bigger and bigger, and there will be nothing anyone can do about it.
Hopefully Chris won't lock this thread, because I think this is something that needs to be discussed..for the sake of everyone. Unless of course, we want thes eboards to go the way of the yahoo groups.

That board right now is a utopia for some, but it is inevitable that arguments will come up and that board will eventually start having some of the same problems that this board had. It's just human nature and you can't keep running every time someone disagrees with your point of view. As for me, I will never leave these boards. Tom posts here, and for me the best part of this game is being able to interact with the creator (not to mention Mark and Kris).

You can't please all of the people all of the time. If differences can be set aside, then we could reunite, but I'm not sure if it will ever happen.

It's TNA's fault.

Tom and Mark (not sure about Kris) occasionally post on the other board as well; they've also been added to the CotG and LOW front pages, so now both are endorsed (and this one is thankfully no longer "the official" board, which it was never intended to be). While I agree with the general sentiment expressed in this thread, I don't have any personal issue with anyone who chooses to leave this board in favor of the other (except maybe one person, but that's his problem, not mine).
And DMK: this thread will remain open as long as it doesn't degenerate into finger-pointing, name-calling, or frankly most of the garbage that led to the other board's founding in the first place.

I'd suggest it's WrestleWar's fault, but TNA didn't help. EDIT: Before anyone raises the source of trouble common to both situations, that's not the issue here.

LOL, yep. The weird thing is, when I read some of the posts over there, it seems like the pro-TNA crowd is actually starting to complain about TNA a little. That is something that never happened over here. Maybe because they were always on the defensive and were so busy trying to defend the company that they weren't able to see some of the faults.

Or maybe TNA has finally crossed the line of abject stupidity to the point where they can't be defended in good conscience. Who's to say?

While I will probably not post on the other board very much, I am very much for its existence (after much internal debate). COTG, as other hobbies that have community groups, have different groups of fans that want to interact in their own way. There is no need to say that have to use only one forum, if that forum doesn't satisfy a need. Sure there may be some fractioning of the audience, but the focus should instead be on strengthening the bonds between different members of the individual boards for the betterment of the COTG community as a whole.
Besides Chris has pointed out that this was never meant to be the official board, but was the first. With the Deuce as the next natural evolution.

The only problem is, the new board will also faction off, and so on until everything is so spread out it's a mess. The same thing happened with the yahoogroups. Who even really cares about them anymore? I prefer this board more because of the Mod's flexibility. They don't immediatebly bring the hammer down because they don't like something that is said. They've shown some leeway. Others feel they should have a complete and absolute no tolerance policy regarding certain situations. But if you do that the board would be dead. Everybody says something dumb every now and then. Discussions get heated. You just have to let it flow until you are sure that nothing good can come from it. Shutting it down immediately can possibly cause more problems or allow it to pop up elsewhere. I don't know..I just don't see how you send a message by leaving the boards and moving to another to escape the problems. Yet on the new board just discuss the problems of the old board. God knows I've had to listen to people complain in private...in almost an obsessed manner. This is just a symptom of the problem I guess.People don't like someone else so they think they shouldn't be allowed to post . So they bail. It's like complaining about what you see on TV, yet still watch it.

And this has all happened because people on the boards don't like each other. I don't understand why people can't act like adults and just coexist. I too do not understand why some people get so cheesed off at what is written on a message board.. If someone writes something that is goading me to get into a war, I can usually ignore it. Other people cannot ignore it and I can accept that as well. But it is a fact of groups that given a random sampling of people, certain members will not get along. I think it is lack of contorlling the warring parties that hurts the community, not the fact that others have gone off and started a new forum. I do not feel that members of the Deuce feel it is a Utopia, or "untrollable", but an area started by a member or members of this community who felt badgered. We, as I am a member of both boards, now have two main places in which to discuss CotG. Allow people to choose which place they prefer to post, if they have a preference at all.

For myself, I'm fine with another board, and hope that there aren't splits upon splits upon splits, although that is a risk. But I want to keep people in both places informed of CPC things and my podcast stuff, so those who flit between them will probably find me in both spots on a somewhat regular basis, as threads warrant my involvement.
I will also say that I agree that a message board's members will behave however they feel like it and not a darn thing anybody else does or says will change them. So either ignore, reply in kind, or don't participate. We seem to have our factions on that as well!
Anyway, no account deletion from me. I like it here.

I get the feeling that the other board has an holier then though opinion of themselves and feel no trolling will happen where they reside. Unfortunately, thats not possible. Soon it will get bigger and bigger, and there will be nothing anyone can do about it. This is my problem with the whole situation. The COTG on-line community is not large enough to have it splinter off in several different directions. I agree with DMK that it is important to conduct one's self as an adult, and starting another discussion community simply because someone frequently disagrees with you is not behaving as an adult. Sorry for the over-used analogy, but it is like taking your ball and going home. In all honesty, this is the first, and only, on-line community I have ever been a part of. Perhaps it is for that reason that I have come off abrasive or arrogant at times to people with whom I have interacted. I'll accept that, but I think too many of the people who switched boards over an argument react to disputes because too much of their social interaction is through Internet discussion boards and chat rooms. In the real world, where I spend a great deal of my time, a person does not get on a soapbox, spout opinions with little or no factual support and expect no one to question, criticize or disagree with that opinion. This is not meant to indict anyone who left this board for the Deuce, but it does seem as if many of the departed did have a warped view of how people are supposed to respond to their opinions. I also agree with DMK's holier-than-thou comments. I have read some of the topics on the Deuce, and would like to comment, but I am certain I would either be denied membership or shut down soon after membership is granted. Their view of how people should communicate on boards such as this is laughable. The fact is, a bunch of males discussing pro wrestling and similar topics are going to argue, yell, bitch, and complain. In this environment, conflict is inevitable. It is not personal, but rather the nature of the beast, and many of those who exited this board for their sacred ground that is the deuce should venture out to a sports bar from time to time and see living proof of this.

Their view of how people should communicate on boards such as this is laughable. Eh, they can try -- and they can succeed, as long as they're vigilant about it. It's a lot like the original Galaxian Code: a noble effort, if perhaps slightly naive. EDIT: But if it does work (sustainably), then the naivite becomes closer to innovation. Are any of the "alternate reality" CotG guys from a time where Thantos never broke the Code?

Their view of how people should communicate on boards such as this is laughable. Eh, they can try -- and they can succeed, as long as they're vigilant about it. Having tended bar in a couple sports bars in college, I can say their idea of how a wrestling discussion forum should ideally operate is fantasy. At the heart of what many of the beefs were about is one person essentially saying, "I am entitled to my opinion, but if you state yours, and it differs from mine, then you are not entitled to that opinion if I stated mine first. Furthermore, If I like something, you should not comment on it unless you like it, too. However, if I post a negative comment about something you like, you should do the 'grown-up' thing and not respond, thus avoiding a conflict." I realize that is not an exact quote, but that is pretty much the mindset of most of those involved with the migration. It is mindset that is far from mature and definitely not based in reality.
