...kinda sucked.
Eric Young was funny...but that's it, really. Jim Cornette spent 5 minutes talking about all he was going to do...next week? Indeed.
That was as good a way as any to get the title off of Joe, I guess.
The powerhouse chick being teamed with Styles and Daniels is a bad move...why? Because she towers over them. Not a good Impact, and definitely not what they needed coming off of that bad PPV ending (see how Cornette and the announcers wouldn't acknowledge the loud "Fire Jarrett" chants? What did they think people were going to say?), an improved ECW on Sci-Fi and a pretty funny Raw.
Sting vs Jarrett vs Christian for the title at Victory Road? I noticed that the VR poster shows Sting and Cage on one side and Jarrett/Steiner on the other...but Steiner seems like he'll clearly be busy with Samoa Joe, unless they ARE going through with the tournament (add in Monty Brown, Rhino and Abyss to fill it out, I guess)...
Just left a bad taste in my mouth. One of the worst Impacts in a long time.

my observations from watching the show last night...
First off the entire first 15 minutes of the show sucked, and did nothing to gain the interest of a casual viewer, or in my case, a hardcore wrestling fan...
the opening comes off as cheap and low-level, not to mention they look like they are trying to be just like RAW...for God's sake they were recycling fan shots...
Weak video re-cap of the ppv, barely describing what even happened or explaining why Cornette wasted the next 10 minutes of the show yelling about it...also, Cornette is not the guy you want opening your show...seriously, how many people under the age of 30 really know who this guy is?
then they really give the fans what they want by vacating the belt, again...and since we all know Jarrett gets the belt back next week anyways, it's amazing they would be dumb enough to even tease the TNA rats with temporary hope...
I don't watch TNA every week, but if this is how they open their show each time I can understand why they are completely falling apart...
Styles and Daniels tag finisher is freaking awesome. Sadly, the huge chick makes them both look like Finlay's midget...
then I fell asleep...
wow, I knew impact was bad but I had no idea is was pathetic.
on the bright-side, sooner than later the talented TNA guys will be in ECW.

I thought it was a good show. I like the controversy they created with the clouded title situation. Many aren't fans of TNA as I can see, but right now I am, and WWE is what's not really interesting right now. TNA has had low spots too, but I feel they're doing better. Overall, I feel it was a good show, and am anxious to see where things go for Joe now that he is no long is the X division champion. Like I said, TNA is no worse than WWE right now who's rehashing DX...got an ECW brand that's just watered down with WWE guys. If your argument is that TNA has ex-has been WWE guys in it, then ECW is just using stalemate talent to try and push ECW. Kurt Angle is the only one really that's the "major" star in there. Big Show don't belong. If you want ECW as ECW, hire more guys that aren't in TNA, and get the WWE guys out of there and do the ECW thing like it's supposed to be. As for me, TNA is the show keeping my interest right now. It's getting better to me.

Well Tommy's usually a pretty ardent supporter of TNA. He didnt dig Impact last night. And I have really liked the shows the last few weeks. And I absolutely hated what happened with the title at the PPV and thought last night's show would've been OK, except they did nothing to address the huge mistake they made with Jarrett. So it's no just an anti-TNA position to say the show was pretty weak. Because, honestly, the show was pretty weak. Cornette: He's running the same gimmick he ran in ROH, so there are probably some indy fans under 30 who know who he is, but he's not attracting the casual viewer. And that was way to long a segment to say "I'll make a decision next week." AJ&Daniels: stuck in the tag team division, being held down by a female bodybuilder. Good thing they signed these guys to long term deal; obviously the have HUGE plans for them. Yo Mama jokes...er...why? Trying to be as hip as Wilmer Valderama? Let's aim higher. And this was absolutely the worst match I've seen where Senshi and Joe are facing each other. they can put on some amazing work. Maybe it was the added weight of carrying Dutt. So I guess Joe losing the belt is understandable, but I wish this had been one and one. Positives: Eric Young was funny. Monty got a win. Konnan can still cut one hell of a promo. He just sounds so steady on the mic. That's about it. Seriously, just not that great a show. I don't mind 'controversy' with the belt. But TNA does this like every 8 months, and it always involves Jarrett. They're driving away they're own fanbase with that kind of booking so this needed to be a slam dunk. It wasn't.

I know who Cornette is!:-)
Thought the show was decent. I obviously don't like the fact that Jarret is going to get the belt back, but i never really liked Christian holding the belt either. The only guy in that company that I'd like to see wear the strap is Samoa Joe. And Im sure he'll get it before long. ( I hope.)

Oh yeah, Cornette was great on the mic last night. That ought to be good for something.

So I guess Joe losing the belt is understandable, but I wish this had been one and one. Well, they don't want to have Joe lose the belt in a 1-on-1 match. That would kill his "undefeated" streak. Here's my problem with that. I know they're saying HE didn't get beat so he's still undefeated. But, if you're in a match and you don't win, what did you do? Lose, right? Unless you play soccer. (Ah, too easy. )

my observations from watching the show last night... Styles and Daniels tag finisher is freaking awesome. Sadly, the huge chick makes them both look like Finlay's midget... The sad part is that the girl (Jaime D) is only 5'10" and 190 pounds. I really like Daniels and I can see why others would like AJ but they are not the biggest guys around.

Here's what I thought:
Cornette's promo was decent, but it was very dissappointing to get the "tune in next week and see" treatment, when they make it such a big deal.
Styles and Daniels are a fun team to watch, but I agree it really kills them to have a valet that's bigger and stronger than they are.
I'm not sure if it was just this week, or I don't usually notice, but there were alot of blown spots, where they sold moves that missed completely.
Konnan does a nice promo, but his accusations are a litle silly, the racism card rings pretty hollow when Killings has been the champ a couple times.
The more I see of Samoa Joe, the less I like him.. he looked very slow and lumbering (especially outside the ring with those bull charge moves) and the whole idea that he's dropped the X division title twice during his undefeated streak is really bad, IMO. Does TNA think he can't get a reaction with out the "undefeated" streak?
I admit that a generally only watch TNA when it follows TUF, but the title thing got me to tune in just for TNA.. While I wouldn't say the show was bad exactly, it definately left me feeling like I kissed my sister.

I enjoyed the show last night.
Admittedly, the whole title situation is pretty ridiculous. But Sting leaving Cornette's office saying "He did just what I wanted" (or something to that effect) makes me interested to see what happens next week.
I watch wrestling for the matches, and I enjoyed the Styles/Daniels match and the Triple Threat match. Styles and Daniels are an exciting team. And the Triple Threat match was entertaining. Joe looked tough. Senshi (spelling?) looked very good. And Dutt was surprisingly good. He keeps improving. And they advanced the Steiner vs Joe feud nicely. While Raw was good Monday night because of how funny DX was, to me Impact was a better show because of the matches.

I find it interesting that TNA can be like a siblings friend that you find yourself being neutral to, they have some decent qualities but then they do something to make you really hate the person to not even wanting them to be around. Dunno that is how TNA has been with me as of late. It is the promise it shows and then they do something really stupid to make you wonder if they will ever get things right. Sure there are growing pains and then there is just growing tired of it.

And you know that the TNA booking committee is defending the Jarrett title win with "Hey, Jarrett's getting killer heel heat!"
Ugh.
Just...ugh.

This is true Tommy. They are probably misinterpreting the reaction and see this as Jarrett over with the fans when in actuality he is not! I like Jarrett I really do but sometimes it is best that he back out of the title run. He doesn't need the title to be in a half decent storyline. He is one of those guys like HHH Sting, any name really that are so established that they don't need the title to put on a great match.
I also have to agree that the thugette Daniels and AJ have is not needed. I mean sure for the PPV but man I hope is not an ongoing angle. She apparently won a Gut check competition at Scott Dmore's Border Town Wrestling Camp and now they are using her on the show. Not sure how long term it is but all I can think of is Nicole Bass in the WWF. ;D

Booking like this always makes me think of the infamous "Hodge Ending"...Huge build up, Hodge was on a roll after injuring Frank Gotch, and looked like he would take the belt from Londos...Before the match, the bookers met with Hodge to tell him how the match would go (This actually happened in Pittbull's LOW Fed, so Pittbull, feel free to correct me here)... Booker: "Okay Hodge, this is what we've been building up to. You've worked your ass off so we're gonna make this huge! You're gonna go out there and look like you really want that belt. Then Londos is going to come out, but before he gets to the ring, you're going to meet him halfway and waffle him with a steel chair. You'll get disqualified, but don't worry, fans love that sh*t!! Hodge: "What?" ;D

Just remember that Joe is working with a torn knee ligiment Wildfire. He's clearly been slowed down by it the last month or so, so to judge him based on that is a little unfair. I agree that the 'protective' Title losses are a bit lame...but there is a point to having someone build up an undefeated streak, and its not just to be like Goldberg.
If I were TNA, I would strongly consider having someone (Steiner maybe) put Joe out of action for a little while so he can rest up...only for him to return on FIRE to take out Steiner...and then fight his way to the NWA Title. It would be a shame if he was on the road to his first World Title with a bad wheel.

If Joe has such a bad knee why is he not only still wrestling in TNA, but doing ROH shows as well? Do I need to start an "Umaga is smarter than Joe too" thread?

I thought he actually was working lighter in matches, as well as limiting his appearances by working strictly TNA shows until he's 100%...Apparently those reports were in error...
