So you say you always wanted there to be some sort of game mechanic that would allow you to have your favorite Champions of the Galaxy stars compete in mixed-martial arts matches, eh? You like the OFC match rules but think they could be ... I don't know ... more involved? Don't you wish that you could just have all new cards with all new stats for every CPC POW wrestler that would be more realistic to MMA matches? With new charts? And rules? But still adhere to the basic mechanics that you've grown accustomed to with COTG?
If this is what you're wishing for, then call the COTG Online crew the genies who are at your beck and call.
Brought to you by myself and "Darth Turkish" Gregg Kavanagh:
[glow=red,2,300]POW MMA THROWDOWN![/glow]
Note: Wrestling-only fans, don't worry. The wrestling aspect of POW is not going away!
Check COTG Online soon for more info!

Just makes me wonder how those that dont have COTG Online will get to play/use the cards... The only way to get the new POW set is via a download through COTGonline. You don't have to have a paid subscription, though ... when you buy the printable PDF, a demo account will be made for you if you don't have one already. Then you just log in, download the PDF, and away you go!

I believe he meant the new stats, charts, and rules aspect.
Sort of wondering that as well but I'm sure that's being taken care of.

The new set itself isn't going to be playable on COTGonline as of this first release, so it's not like it's exclusive to COTGonline in that way, and the printable downloads will have everything you need to play the paper and dice way.

See..I knew you guys would have this covered. This is going to be awesome. Although, I'm a sports-entertainment guy so I'm not sure how much I'll use this unitl I actually get to play it through.

I'm just sad that they seem to be getting away from the cards and focussing more on the online stuff.

What Ashby and Gregg have wrought with this MMA thing is indeed awesome.

I'm just sad that they seem to be getting away from the cards and focussing more on the online stuff. It would seem safe to say that GWF (and I would assume LOW) will always be available in card format. And if you're dead set on doing things traditionally, there ARE ways with aCe and CPC, with those PDFs like BDS mentioned. I'm a traditionalist too, but I'm digging aCe and CPC (and 2087 GWF) being/about to be online -- I enjoy taking my time and using dice and notebooks with the GWF proper, but I no longer have the time to devote to more than one fed like that.

So is this like an overlapping or additional set of rules for the entire CPC-turned-POW, or how does that work?
Is it a choice as to how you choose to run your fed, be it wrestling, MMA or both?

Another thing to consider- it's not that Filsinger Games is moving away from the cards. The fact is that CPC and aCe were only scheduled for continuation until this set. Online allows the sets to continue on at a more reasonable cost for FG. Like Aquinas said, the GWF and LOW will continue on in card format for the forseeable future. Online allows for the other feds to continue on if the demand is there.

The MMA-style rules will work with all of the CPC/POW wrestlers. However, each promoter can choose whether to run a wrestling-only fed, an MMA-style fed, or some combination of both. I've seen the proposed rules system as well as the rough draft of the 2122 edition, and it will be easy/fun to run any one of those three fed styles.

To follow up on what Mike said, each fighter will have both a wrestling card and an MMA card. The movesets are totally different between the two cards, so Shylock's MMA card is different from his current CPC card. The MMA card has a different mechanics that will not work with the traditional CotG styled card.
So yes it is a choice to include or not include the MMA portion.
But I honestly think you guys are gonna love it! ;D
