will the mma pow cards have finishers ? No there will be no traditional fininshing moves (like HEAD PUNCH +2). Practically every move on the fighter's card has has the ability to finish the fight. This is because in MMA rarely do we see a move that a fighter uses over and over to great and devastating effect. Sure, Cro Cop has his left high kick and say Joe Stevenson has used his guillotine choke to win a few matches, but in the scheme of things that is really it

I agree that its a little small for an MMA roster, but I'll adjust.. once I have a feel for the mechanics, maybe some jobbers will be in order. To fill out the ranks maybe they could do a PM style contest? The POW version of the Ultimate Fighter? will the mma pow cards have finishers ? There will be 37 male and 7 female MMA cards for POW, separate from the wrestling cards. I believe there will be ways to order either or both, so if you only want the wrestling cards, or only the MMA cards, you can get them that way. Both will be complete sets to start up a fed if you haven't had a CPC fed up to this point. The only people with wrestling stats that won't have an MMA card are the managers like Killer Queen and Gila.
To answer another question, there will be a small number of fighters with Add 1 moves, but nowhere near the number that you see on the wrestling cards.
The plan is to have up on COTG Online before the release a sample of the stats of one of the MMA cards with a brief explanation of what you're looking at. Obviously it won't answer all questions about the rules (for that you'll need the whole rulebook when you order), but it should at least give you the gist of it.

Oh, another question occures to me! What about managers? Will they make the transition to "Corner men"?

When I saw the thread title I was hoping Mark was going to announce he'd raised $5 million and was bringing Couture vs. Fedor to Maryland.
This isn't bad though. I'm assuming that some of the better rasslin' guys won't be so tough in MMA mode and vice versa. Sounds like a fun concept. I drafted an MMA version of the game a couple of years ago, but never made it past the really rough draft. Good stuff.

I have had this idea, and have used it in my Bootleg fed. If the MMA game warrants more editions, this may be something to consider in the future.

Yeah, right now managers are one of those things that we'd like to do for the future. Kind of like how COTG was in the early days. There weren't managers until the third set. We'll more than likely get to them, and other things, too.

One thing that's fairly prevalent in MMA (much more so than wrestling) is injuriies... even guys that win get hurt alot. I also don't really see as much in the way of 'feuds' as in wrestling (some certainly, but its different) Will there be any game elements to incorporate this? I could picture in my head some sort of 'after match' chart that could effect a guys status for his next one (i.e a cut that's not closed yet, concussion, broken hand, that sorta thing) buy maybe making him more susceptible to a particular move if he fights before he's recovered... heck, guys could even have some sort of 'recovery' rating, that would effect how often and how long they're hurt. I know with a small roster this might be limiting, but I really like the idea of it. What do y'all think? BTW, is there an approximate release date and/or price for this yet? Maybe tomorrow?

Maybe tomorrow? Perhaps no, but we should be pretty close. The card fronts and backs are all done and are in the final stages of proofreading now. Once that's finished, I'll get everything PDF-ed and all of the packages set up in COTGonline, and away we go.

Injuries have been worked into the POW system, although not on the scale you mentioned. The Recovery Chart you mentioned is a great idea, and one that will unfortunately have to wait until next time to be developed or implemented. In MMA as it stands now, fighters are medically suspended (usually 1 month) after they fight from any training without medical clearance to do so. This is to insure that a physician has checked them over and they have no hidden injuries from the fight. Fighters with deep cuts, injured limbs etc, are medically suspended longer. Generally Fighters can fight anywhere between 3 and 5 times a year. You can use this as a basis for determining when to have a guy fight. Yeah, feuds for an MMA only fed may be a bit tougher, since there is no "before/ after bell action" or whatever. But you can take the stunning upset and have that be a cause for a rematch! Take a long bloody brutal battle that ended with a courageous shot and turn it into a second meeting! By all means cut promos and interviews and stuff, as well! Everyonne loves to hate the talented pompous ass, who thinks everyone should know who he is or the outrageous guy who always drops funny oneliners. Much like CotG, you will have to provide the color, we have provided the outline for it.

Obviously if you are running a MMA only fed there are none, but what if you are running a wrestling only or a mixed fed? Are there still official tag-teams

There are indeed official teams (and some occasional team-ups mentioned) for the wrestling side of POW. Obviously, an MMA tag match would be a bit...problematic.

I'm so glad that this came to fruition. Mark and Gregg did a bang up job here. I will be running POW mostly as a wrestling fed, but I will certainly do my fair share of MMA bouts. I can't wait to see what JJ Smooth can do. I hope this is a start of good things to come, and I'm sure Mark and the rest of us are eager to get your feedback on this new fighting system.

Truly, this is a monumental event and not just another game edition. Kudos Mr. Ashby, I for one can NOT wait to get my hands on this.

while i am not the biggest MMA fan, this definitely looks like something i could get into.
When i start my POW i will definitely be mixing the MMA in.
I am really anxious to see how the charts work.

Mr. Dalton you should be happy: I incorporated a lot of judo throws into the clinch moves. Pendakar and Saboteur especially.
