Haven't had a chance to log on since I posted the initial message, but it seems that the people who were in the know on this (Turkish, BDS, Mike M) have answered everything accurately. Turkish deserves a lot of credit for coming up with some great ideas for this during our back-and-forths over it, so major props to my homie for that. The release on Online allows the end user to decide which cards they want to use (wrestling, MMA, or both), so there's always the option for those choosing one way or the other or a mix. It's highly flexible. You'll see. I'm probably gonna do a mix myself, but I'll have to play some out before I make that decision final. Thanks for all the kind words thus far. This whole set (MMA, wrestling, all of it) has been a team effort, so the guys mentioned above as well as others like Tournament Master, Kris, and Werner (Am I forgetting anyone? Hope not...) should share in this achievement. All you guys are gonna love this as much as I enjoyed writing it.

I'm intriguied, yet skeptical. I really like the idea of MMA, but I was looking forward to running a CPC fed. Now I'm a bit torn, really going to have to wait and see how the MMA aspect works before I decide which way to go with it. If I did MMA style, I have to wonder if there's weight classes or just straight up everyone vs. everyone. Also, if I did it like typical MMA, they'd only fight about 4 times a year. Like I said, skeptical, yet very interested in how it will all come to pass. Either way, I'm sure it'll be a fantastic read and I admire the initiative taken to try something different for the game.

The MMA cards will be separate from the CPC/POW wrestling cards, so you can run just a straight wrestling fed if you want to. There are three weight classes: crusierweight (less than 240 lbs), heavyweight (241 to 275 lbs) and superheavy (276 +) There are some minor adjustments for fighting someone outside of your weight class. Women will have no set weight classes, as there are only seven female fighters.

Well, the good thing about the way that Mark has approached this is that if you don't like the MMA-style for whatever reason, you can still run the CPC like a wrestling promotion. As for the 4 fights per year, I understand your point. However, non-'worked' wrestling is physically taxing as well, so it's plausible that the physical grind is reduced by advances in medicine for MMA just like for wrestling, allowing for more activity.

I've had the concerns about the number of shows, too, and here's how I figure I'll handle it: I'm going to run one TV show a week with just two or three matches on it, then a PPV once a month. The matches on the PPV will all be championship matches. I'll work the TV and the PPV in such a fashion that everyone wrestles no more than once a month, which is a schedule my brain can accept with futuristic medicine, and I still have plenty of shows to run. I've already got ideas for ways to use the Stat Tracker specifically tailored to this. To say that I'm excited for this set would be an understatement.

JMello, I can understand your skepticism, but as Turkish and Mike have said, if you want to do a straight wrestling POW fed, you can absolutely do that. There will be a package with all the cards you need for a wrestling fed separate from the MMA cards. Jump on and join us however you want to!
As for the weight classes, just for some clarification on why I picked those limits: for the men, there will be 14 fighters in the 240 and under (cruiserweight) group, 14 in the 241-275 (heavyweight) group, and 9 in the 276+ (super-heavyweight) group. I wanted there to be at least some reasonable parity in numbers between the cruisers and the heavys at least, so that's the best way to get it. And there will be ways to go between classes with minor adjustments, kind of like the women's conversion chart for wrestling, but not quite as draconian. (Ha! GWF pun!)

I'm not totally understanding here. I'm dense I guess, but is everybody in the new POW getting two cards ( 1- normal and 1-MMA ) even existing guys not getting cards in 2122. I guess I just need the low down in layman's terms. ;D

I'm thinking EVERYONE will get an MMA card, then they'll be two regular choices... one with just the new set, and the other with everyone that's active, ala New Beginnings.
I agree that its a little small for an MMA roster, but I'll adjust.. once I have a feel for the mechanics, maybe some jobbers will be in order.

I can state with 100% confidence that every wrestler has two cards - a traditional pro wrestling card and an MMA variant.
As to how they'll be packaged, though, I have no idea yet.

I look forward to holding cards both ways, just going to have to find a good mix, because I am a MMA fan.
