Rather then use Matt's Detroit Tigers thread to talk Sox, thought I'd start my own!!!
Honestly I'm a bit scared right now even though we beat the Royals the past two nights, those@$%*ing Yankees r hot again and Boston's power seems shaky. Wakefield's pitching lately has been suspect(whatelse is new!) but as i mentioned in Matt's Thread i was impressed with Lester's outing last night!
GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm an NL fan, but I hate the Yankees. So I'll always cheer for the Sox in that rivalry.

Hate to say it, but Steven King wrote in that Red Sox book "Faithful" (yes, I did actually read that book), and this may be paraphrasing "We hate what we fear... and every sensible Red Sox fan fears the Yankees."
Lester and Papelbon were brilliant last night. The Yankees are doing that thing that I hate again - when they can't lose. I hope Wakey's ok.

If Mr.Wakefield does come back he better show his 2004 stuff because he is the guy in the rotation im scared of the most. I have yet to read "Faithful" but look forward to it. Anyone seen 'Fever Pitch". I loved it myself. Defines Red Sox fans to me and the people who just dont get it.Though in the end she got the pump from the well.

Ok now im worried again. We cannot put a 1 spot on the Yanks or White Sox and think we can win anything. Beckett and Papelbon were huge again and glad ManRam did his thing but come on score a few more runs!!!

ya, scoring two runs in two games is never the preferred way of doing things.
Right now the Yanks are down 3-2 bottom of the eighth... six more outs from finally losing a damn game! Please don't let me jinx that result!

whoo-hoo! Yankees lose. Red Sox go up by 1.5 games, which has me breathing a little easier than their 0.5 game lead from before.
Seriously, it's not like the Yankees should have even had the opportunity to win the game in extra innings last night if the umpires had only done their jobs right anyway. They were due to lose one.

I'll take a Yankee loss any day.
And as for the Red Sox pair of 1-0 wins, it's like my buddy was saying to me today. The way I see it, the Sox are slumping right now. I'll take any win I can get any way I can get it until we snap out of our funk. Just hope it doesn't last for too long.

yep but at least the defense comes up strong in the clutch like coco crisp did today

Coco Crisp... we locked him up to a long term contract early in the season before he proved anything, just because Theo Epstein and his stats geeks saw a tremendous upside to Crisp, and so far he hasn't done that much. A younger version of Johnny Damon who puts up similar numbers he is not (at least so far).
And then yesterday we lock up Josh Beckett to three years, $30 million. While his record may be awesome, and while he may have pitched eight innings of one-hit ball yesterday, his ERA is still north of 5.00, which means he is just a benefactor of tremendous run support.
I generally support anything that Theo does because I believe he is the best general manager in baseball today, but I don't understand some of his decisions this season.

A good hitting team like the Sox(most of the time anyway) can mask a pitcher's high ERA, a good bullpen(Timlin,Foulke when hes healthy and of course Papelbon!!) helps also

bullpen - let's not forget Hansen who throws mad heat. Only a matter of time before he inherits the closer position and Papelbon moves into the rotation.
Well, unless Papelbon stays near-invincible like he has all season. Then we'll just have an awesome closer and an awesome setup man. Our answer to the Gordon-Rivera combo of a few years ago, I love it.

Keep Papelbon in the pen if u ask me the rotation(Wakefield notwithstanding) is solid for the most part

the Blue Jays are no joke. However, I wonder if they'll deal Vernon Wells at the deadline, as he is in his final year, and he has not been locked up yet like AJ Burnett, Roy Halladay, and BJ Ryan.
