Yeah, good point Tommy. As I posted in the other thread that seems rife with this talk, I'm pulling out of this because I'm not willing to get into a pissing contest with anybody on here. My time at this board has been quite positive so far and I'd like to keep it that way. I'm willing to be more careful as to who I joke around with, and the context of my jokes. I'm not out to hurt feelings or make enemies, I was out to add a little levity to a thread. It wasn't taken well by some...lesson learned and we move on. I'll stick to putting myself down, which never seems to bother me So hopefully we can all be mature and move on from this. I don't think ANYONE wants things to escalate to a Swarm/Tafkaga scale. I know I'm not willing to play a part in any of that. Ok, so ....peace...goodwill toward my fellow promoter....and God Bless Us Everyone!(Excluding those who believe in an alternate diety, or choose to not believe in a diety. Just covering all my bases )

But when you're in here tafkaga-ing it up Wow. Could we please not have that become an official part of board slang?

Maybe it is just this thread that is still filled with the energy of swarm and tafgaka's heated discussion and it just permeates and affects others? Either way as I said in the other thread. We all have misunderstood and hopefully all can move on from this. When I first joined these boards it was great, lets get back to that. Also I would like to extend a hearty welcome to Chang and Splattercat to their recent additions to the boards. I hope to be talking to both of you more and really cannot wait to hear your thoughts on the games and within the others threads here on the boards. Again let me be the first to welcome you and hope this recent chest beating doesn't deter you from staying around. The boards like any other have the odd hiccup from time to time. But I think this is past and we can all move forward. Have a gooden and and great weekend.

I want one in red that says deftones or do you hate me too much to hook me up? I'll give you a set of free belts if you do...they will be done in time for Galacticon. I don't 'hate you'. This is just a message board. I've been just as big a jerk as you have at times. Thanks for the link bro... ...couldn't have said that better myself. peace.

If y'all (which isn't a word I normally use, but I wanted to distinguish between the personal "you" and the collective) want an iron-fisted, totalitarian military state instead of the current environment, just give me, Paul, Tommy, Jim and WTIC the word. Do you really want me to unleash the Thought Police? Because I can do it, and you won't be happy about it. You know, I thought about this last night. Went to bed to sleep on it. Thought about it some more, to make sure I wasn't having an emotional response. So--obvious hyperbole aside. Yes. If that's what it takes, yes, I do want you to "rule" with an iron hand. Any post that even hints at violating the rules we all agreed to when we joined up should be filtered, locked, or deleted, and any member that violates the rules regularly should be banned. Those of you that know me will recognize that I may be new (-ish) to this forum, but I am hardly new to the game, and I think I can say, in all modesty, that I have some minimal amount of credibility for one reason or another. Now, I have my own perceptions of who is right and who is wrong, but I'm going to try to keep them out of this post (which, by the way, is not only the last time I'll comment on the matter, but the last time I'll look in this particular thread, though people with concerns are welcome to PM me). This is the official forum for Filsinger Games. This site is linked directly from the main web page, and at the very top, no less. This is where potential customers will go to see what sort of people play the game, and how they interact as a community. Everything that happens here reflects directly on the game, and on Tom. I'm sorry, but that simply can't be denied. And I give Tom all the credit in the world, not just for designing a game that obviously inspires such passion, but for not pulling the plug on this forum long ago. Imagine you're a potential customer. Of this game, of a new satellite service, of a certain brand of car...of anything. Like any good consumer, you want to do your research; what sort of community am I buying into? Better yet, imagine you're the parent of a child who wants to join a new club, buy a new band's CD, go see a PG-13 movie. I know it's a stretch, but maybe you actually want to investigate what your child is planning on getting into; the sort of people he or she might meet. (That, by the way, was a slam on the state of parenting globally, not against anyone here.) Certain claims have been made: that there are relatively few forums that are particularly troublesome, or that "personal" posts are exempt from the regular rules. I'm sorry, but I'm pretty sure that both of these claims are simply wrong. The trouble may have started in one or two places, but it's clearly spread beyond that. I know this, because I can't avoid it, no matter how hard I've tried, and while people may delete their accounts in an attempt to put the fire out or avoid further trouble for themselves, or what have you, it's still here. As for personal posts...I'm sorry, but this is a public forum. Unless a thread has restricted access, so that only certain people can read it, it remains public, and again, a direct reflection of Tom and the Champions of the Galaxy game line. If there are rules against spoilers, vulgarity, personal attacks, accusations, or anything else, they need to be enforced. All the time. In every post. If that means editing or deleting comments or entire threads by the moderators, then that's what it means. And that could be avoided, not by more liberal moderators, but by more conscientious posting by those who have their work edited. I'm not a moderator, but I expect it's not too difficult to delete a post, PM the original poster, and say, "This post is in violation of this or that rule of conduct, and needs to be revised and reposted, or it will remain deleted." This very thread contains a number of posts that are hostile, threatening, or otherwise inflammatory, and yes--if I were a moderator, this six-or-seven page thread would probably be cut down to one or two pages. I guess my only real thought is this. Remember whose creation this is. Remember that we, as a forum, as rabid fans, as (dare I say) friends of the man live or die by his creative design. If he says no more forum, no more games, or what have you, it ends. Tom consistently holds himself to a high standard of behavior--on this forum, certainly, but in all aspects, really. How many of these contentious threads see input from him? Zero. So, before you post, think twice. Sleep on it. Think twice more. Ask yourself, "does what I'm about to say reflect poorly on myself, on the game, or on Tom?" And if we can't be trusted to do that ourselves, I absolutely feel the moderators should do it for us.

This is the official forum for Filsinger Games. This site is linked directly from the main web page, and at the very top, no less. Being linked to the FG site and being official are two completely different things; I would actually object to the word "official" being used in reference to this forum in any way. Why? Because I am not a paid employee of Filsinger Games. Nor are any of the other moderators. Quite frankly, that is what it would take for me to pour over every single post and thread made here. In fact, even that wouldn't be enough. If this group truly needs the Thought Police, then all the fun will have been taken out of it and there'd really be no point any more. I'd just as soon delete the entire thing and find better ways to occupy my time. I and the others do this in our free time, because we think the community needs this outlet; the old Guestbook was a mess, and I provided the first (and now second) alternative simply because I had the free time and thought that it would enhance the community. We're fans just like the rest of you, and enjoy just being part of the discussions the same as anyone else. This forum may be endorsed by FG, but that's only because it's the best option currently available for general CotG discussion on the Internet. Don't confuse the two. Now, with that being said, I have been considering making the "rules we all agreed to" a lot more visible -- and, frankly, written out expressly; the nominal thread we have that discusses this hasn't really been touched since nearly a year ago. Look for the "CotG Discussion Code" to be stickied as an announcement sometime in the near future. And just so you know right up front: anyone who breaks the Code will not find himself in the same position as Thantos.

I agree with everything Shadows said.
I've been MIA for four, five days, not even looking at the board, and look at this. Look at what continued here. This is without Gordon, myself, or even really Swarm. THIS is what happens.
The fact is, I have been a moderator. I have run my own forums, I have posted in them for nearly a decade now, and I can safely, and for certain say that you cannot run a forum without enforced rules. It is IMPOSSIBLE. You may think it is, but this thread clearly slows it is not. There is a strict difference between being dictators, and being moderators, and I really hope you guys can see the difference. Just because you edit, or delete, or warn, doesn't mean you have to go all out and be total asses about it. It's a step, not a leap.
I left here for days because this entire situation annoyed me. From the fighting, to people acting like I don't know WTF I'm talking about when I DO, and thats just pathetic. It's pathetic on both sides of the argument. It's pathetic for everyone who was hostile in this thread, or dismissive to this idea and it's pathetic for myself to be so bothered by it.
The ONLY reason I'm even bothering to come back now, is because I like COTG so much, and there are people who I like talking to. I cannot even imagine what it would be like for a newbie who sees this thread. It would flat out disgust me into not coming back. Regardless if this is offical, or not, this IS the representation of the game itself. If you don't want that, then have Tom take the link down because until that happens, this is the only offical forum for COTG and as such we should be trying our damnedest to be on our best behaviors.
I'm done with this topic, I'm done with this fight, I'm done with this annoyance. I'm washing my hands of this, and I'm going to try and remember what exactly makes me enjoy these boards in the first place.

Guys, this is a discussion forum about a game that we all love, and a sport we've all followed for years. There is no way to avoid disagreements and arguments. It shouldn't take away from anyones enjoyment of these boards.
In contrast, I think that illustrates how passionate some people are about this game, and to me that is why this community is so great.
Everyone needs to lighten up and not take all of this so seriously. I think the moderators do a good job, considering that they volunteer their time here, and are game fans like the rest of us.

Well...
My issues with Splattercat and Pitbull were taken care of without direct mod help. I think we all decided to step away and cool down, and let cooler heads prevail.
That might not always happen, obviously, and then the mods probably have to step in. But I don't think we need a major rule overhaul, or things to be run with "an iron fist". Just a little common sense and decency toward one another goes a long way.

There's nothing I can really add that hasn't been said. But as somewhat of an outsider to all of this BS, I have no idea how anyone can't differenciate between constructive arguments and debate, and the mean-spirited, petty arguments that happens here.
From my perspective, this place needs stricter moderation. I'm not saying anything over-the-top, like deleting and banning somebody for saying they didn't enjoy a certain match or a certain wrestler. Everyone has an opinion, and are entitled to it. But that's completely different from having an opinion, and interjecting it day-after-day into threads, cramming it down people's throats.

Whoa splattercat, hold on. Tommy is not only my friend, he is very level headed and fair. I don't always agree with him, but he is fair. If someone needs to be dealt with, Tommy has the grapefruits to do it. Your beef is with the other guy splattercat, take it up with him.

Swarm needs to be dealt with and Tommy does NOT have the grapefruits to do it...I already told Tommy that Swarm was an issue to this whole board...A problem to be dealt with...Get rid of him...Now...That's my problem...Tommy won't deal with him...Fact...

Hey Tommy...Go over to Swarms fed, yeah, the one with the 30 some pages, and tell me he doesn't need to be dealt with...Howabout misrepresentation of the product...Howabout when you go to the Filsinger site, it says "OFFICIAL" fan-run discussion board...First thing someone might go to is the Fed Forum...Top of the list is Swarms...Last page is him bashing the newcomers and making them feel oh so welcome...
Deal with it...
