its an must buy movie.just from the little ive seen.and i actully read the story before.Samrai Jack did an play on it about an year and an half back ago.you cant beat an good story down.and its also an story we studied in milatary history on sargents time in the army(being combat arms and all).it is possible for 300 men to hold off an army of epic size.in the army we had to board game that battle 3 times to see if diffent tactics can crush the 300.we came close at one time but lost at the end. the move the 300 used is called an bottle nose.the US Army still uses that tactic very effective!!!

The WarGames ya mentioned sounds cool man! I was a History major in college and always enjoyed the 300 too. At first when I saw the previews I was alittle bummed that it wasn't just a historical battle film and it seems like it has alot of "Hollywood hoopla" like the Persians almost seem demon-like but whatever I am sure they felt Hell was upon them :-) it has grown on me though through the different previews I have seen and am looking forward to very much.

was the bottle nose done in a canyon pride ? why yes Neilybob most time it is and some times you can use buildings.on Tanks we were trianed to do that in an fighting formation.very effective the bootle neck is. it causes the enemy troops to be forced in single file limiting there engagement rank, where they can not flank you.its also known as an pincher move.its easier fight ten men with 20 then say 500 with 20.

All I know is I'm not sure my eyes can take that much computer wizardry. I'll try though as it looks to be a very unique take on the legend.

The 8th thread on this movie.... It looks awesome- I am hopeful that it stands up to the hype.
....and lets be fair to history and the 700 Athenian conscripts who elected to hold the pass with the 300 professional Spartan Warriors- although I do not believe they are part of this story.
And sure a small army can hold off a large one. Look at the Battle of Crecy.

The graphic novel is awesome and the movie looks even better. Looks like they took some liberties in the character design and made some cool demonic, mutated looking Persians. Cant wait for this one to come out. I just might rip off of some of the bad guy designs for some bootlegs.

Opens Friday.... going to be sweet!!!! Hopefully. I wish it wasn't rated R, however. After teaching my 7th graders about the Spartans and Persians, it would be nice if I could encourage them to see this movie. Many will anyway, of course, parenting being what it is these days...

Just to clarify, I don't have a problem with underage kids seeing certain R-rated movies. As R's go, this one is probably "acceptable" for many young teens to see. However, too many parents let their kids see any movie regardless of how much adult humor or sexuality is included, which is completely irresponsible.

As an 8th grader, my Catholic School okayed my teacher to take us to see "Glory". I do not remember if there was a parent waiver (probably), but this was an example of an acceptable "R" movie for young teens to see. Although I was disturbed when many of my new ninth graders quoted "Black Hawk Down" as their favorite movie, or "the Punisher" a few years later. Great films, don't get me wrong, but they are a little too intense for young people. Also I was told in some scenes in the "300", the blood was not liquid, but confetti. I guess we'll see in a few short days! THIS. IS. SPARTA!

Great movie. I went to the 4:45 matinee, and the place was sold out. There were actually people sitting on the floor in the back of the theater. Visuals were nice, battle scenes well done, acting solid. My only minor criticism is that it started off slow, and for people who aren't familiar with Greek history (fortunately I am), the backstory didnt get developed enough. 2nd half of the movie totally rocked, ending was terrific.
