Man my heart skipped a beat when I heard this. Fire Pro Returns is coming to U.S. PS2 owners. It will be a budget priced title. If your a fan of the series be rejoiced. If you dont know what it is then take a look because outside of the AKI N64 series of wrestling games its probably the best thing we will get in America to date. Several people will have a problem with the 2D sprites but the content in these games can battle any nay sayer. Over 200 japanese wrestlers and plenty of legends. The only problem is most wont know who alot of these people are and they are all not properly named on purpose to get around legal issues but screw that there is a huge CAW mode that can let you put anyone you dream of into the game. This is perfect for COTG because Fire Pro has a animated look and its cool bringing your favorites to life. I thought the edits I made of Endgame and Disaster on my GBA were great much less a PS2 version. Sorry im just really excited about this.

This makes me happy. I've only played Fire Pro on the GBA, but even it was one of my all-time favorite wrestling experiences. To be able to get it for the PS2 at a budget price is outstanding news. EDIT: Here's a link to the aforementioned Gamespot article on it for anyone that wants to check it out.

Fire Pro II for the GBA is one of my all-time favorites too....I got it for dirt cheap and have continued to play the heck out of it. Awesome series.

Alright, I just dug around on GameFAQs a little and saw the rename list for the Japanese version. Danielson is in, and considering that I'm currently wearing a Bryan Danielson t-shirt, this pleases me greatly. I'm super stoked for this game.
Hey, who thinks we oughta start up a little project here to create COTG guys for this?

If PS2 is the only platform, I may never be able to play this game....but as someone who created tons of characters on Fire Pro II, and also as someone who scoured the net looking for how-to's for making guys for WWE Raw 2 for Xbox....I think a thread for making COTG guys for Fire Pro would be SWEET.

Hey, who thinks we oughta start up a little project here to create COTG guys for this? DUH! This is a great idea ... I'm still hoping one of us nerds will someday learn how to use the MUGEN game engine to create some COTG fighters. I will not ever die until that happens.

If PS2 is the only platform, I may never be able to play this game.... C'mon! You can get a used PS2 at a pawn shop for like $40 or $50 ... and if this game comes out ultra cheap (say $20 or so), it shouldn't be hard to get into it. And how do you not have a PS2, anyway? I thought Sony mailed them out like samples of Tide ...

Even if you buy one new, they're only like $110, and they've got a hojillion and a half games out there. I think that God of War 2 was the PS2's swan song, and we're not going to see too much else that's top notch for it, but it's still going to see a flow of titles for a long time to come. There are too many PS2's out there for Sony to just ignore it.

Agreed on all counts. And yes I think we should pull together and make a current and classic roster when this comes out.

I have the Japanese game on order if that helps. The annoying part is I ordered it a few days before I heard the news. I also have one of the SNES Fire Pro games, so I might try and see if I can edit me a few CotG guys in preparation.

Im crossing my fingers hoping they keep the mma mode in. if they do Im pretty sure the will omit the octagon. Not essential but it does look pretty cool when you haven an MMA match.

SNES emulator. I just created those images a while ago to post here. The game I have is Super Fire Pro Wrestling Premium X. There's a bunch of Fire Pro Returns videos on Youtube.
