I have a feeling that this could get too gimmicky with alot of games like the DS did. The PS3 sixaxis also worries me for that very same reason but at least programmers could just ignore that function a little easier. Wii does have a lot of potential to be really fun. It could also be alot of people's second system. Alot of people maybe don't wanna spend the money for a PS3 and an X-Box 360 but instead would get one or the other and the Wii. Or just the Wii because of the massive price difference.

What is it? Is the DS outdated already?

The Wii is the new console station. The DS has nothing to worry about in that regard.

Actually I got it yesterday along with three of the launch titles...the controls take a lil' getting used to but otherwise work just like any other wireless (at least on Zelda and NFS)...it is packaged with Wii Sports which was enjoyable but made my shoulder hurt (due to my shoulder injury...yes...still hurts whenever exercise is employed)...the system itself is surprisingly small and you can load pictures and other things from outer sources...save your profile to the controller and play somewhere else with it....all kind of lil' things...I like the system but I am a nintendo mark...

I missed out by 6 people. Still, the wife works at Best Buy; she'll be among the first to know when new shipments arrive.

the new commercials where that kid is shooting the TV with that stupid controller are hilarious. It just looks like a really dorky thing to be doing. I don't get how that's cool.
Give me PS3 with the new Madden and new NCAA and I'm all set.

About the only thing I know about Wii is that Cartman tried to freeze himself so the wait to get one wouldn't kill him. Must be hella cool...
But given the choice I would have to say PS3 would be my choice as well.

Agree with you Chris. I was told by a friend the Wii is more for kids and not the rest of the hardcore gamer world. Last game system I got was Intellivision II so what do I know?

Kids are some of the most hardcore gamers out there. Don't believe me, challenge my little cousin Aaron to a game. Any game. And try to walk away with your pride in tact.

well with alot of the next gen systems concentrating on graphics and not game play...I find myself playing a lot of the older systems! My fav games are some of the originals like Tecmo Bowl, Ninja Gaiden, Kid Icarus, Kings of the Beach, etc. etc...there has been many games I have bought that were graphically mind blowing but just lacked gameplay...the Wii and Nintendo (in my humble opinion) in general make games that are fun to play and are family oriented! I like the fact that I can let my kids play it without having to worry about exactly they are experiencing in the game...like Grand Theft Auto-I love the game but my 7 year old has been told not til she is older...I have the 360 and plan on getting the PS3 but a choice between the Wii and spending 500-600 on a system for myself (primarily) right before Xmas...that is not an option because I feel like I will be cheating the kids out of Xmas morning (and the "magic" that is typically expected)... So far, i am very pleased with the Wii and after getting used to the controller-I think it might be a great system to have in my extensive library of games.

Classics bundles are where it's at...Taito, Namco, Atari, Capcom, etc...I have like, 5 of them, and they never get old...Try playing Joust again...God that game was genius... PS3 has failed me for the last time...I won't be getting one for quite some time...And I'm a huge Sony fan... X-Box and all things X-Box can go straight to Gre'Thor*...All hype...My PS2 has more quality in it than this 360 garbage...Frell you Microsoft... We'll be getting a Wii...

I'll be getting a Wii at some point. I just can't justify the price of a PS3 for a long while.

I haven't had a game system since PS2 first came out and I realized the madness of new game systems will never stop. I loved Intellevision II and I still have it, and it even came out before I was born. Kings of the Beach was a game very few people knew, but I loved it! Anything else, anyone else has said, I still like playing video games, but I'll go to my friends houses that are big into gaming and play for free. This weekend I played FEAR, Gears of War, and Raw vs. Smackdown all for free at my friends. Now that's true gaming fun, no $600 or quarters (for the arcade) needed...free.

Take it from someone on the inside.........The WII is a whole lot of fun....
and at a reasonable price.........
and i can just imagine what the control scheme will be for Smackdown vs. Raw 2008
.........give it a couple of weeks and it should be easy to find......
its worth it....
