Ok....I got my guys started.
City of Heroes, I am Bull of Minos
City of Villains, I am Kobra Karnage
Not sure I will stick with these two, may make different characters...will have to see.
But, I am wondering if I would be able to bring my other guy, Blue Bolte, over to the Freedom server.......do you know?

It does look like things have been changed some....the graphics look more detailed, for one thing. I had this game a couple years ago, and played quite a bit...but only got my main up to like...16 or so.
I am wondering what else has been added and changed....the gameplay seems fresh enough again, though.

A whole lot has changed...Enhancement Diversification was implemented a while back to bring about game balance, so you can no longer slot 6 of one type of enhancement (damage for example) on a power...Well, you can, it's just that after a certain percentage you don't get as much out of your enhancements...Diminishing returns and that sorta thing...You won't notice it really until you're level 22 though... The graphics have gone through several upgrades, which is very cool... The Giant Monsters, if you've seen them (like Paladin in Kings Row, or Babbage in Skyway), have been hugely upgraded...The point of them was to be a threat that got a whole zone involved in taking it down, but instead people would actually make small teams and take them down in secret without telling anyone...I had actually taken one of the more powerful ones down with a team of 3 Blasters (mine included) and a Defender......Now it takes 20 or so heroes to take one down... 4 Player vs. player zones have been added: Bloody Bay (min level 16), Siren's Call (min level 20 I believe), Warburg (min level 30) and Recluse's Victory (min level 45)...They are a matter of preference as to whether you want to risk going into because you can get attacked by other players...Warburg is especially so because it's a free-for-all...Heroes cna attack Heroes, and Villains can attack Villains...Cool part about them is, there are door missions in all of them, and because of the risk, the XP rewards are increased... Another new zone was added, Croatoa, just in case you've seen this one before, I won't get into too much detail, but it's a really fun place...Full of witches, goblins, pumpkin headed guys, and big green furry monsters...It was a Hallowe'en gift... Costumes were greatly expanded on...Heroes can now use the Villain costumes if you own both CoH and CoV (which you do), and they frequently add new costumes...Some you can only get at certain times, like the Santa Hat...Overall there is a HUGE number of costume parts now, so Character creation (as you saw) is far more diverse... I think that's about it for the major changes...Currently there's no way to move characters between servers...They're working on it, but you'll have to pay for it, since apparently moving characters puts a lot of strain on the Server, and having hunderds of people doing it at once would be dangerous...So when it is made available (not anytime soon) it will be discouraged... As I said, I'm predominantly on Freedom Server, with my 12 characters, (three level 50, one level 30, one 27 all the rest under 10), but I have characters spread around on most of the other servers...Let me know where you are mostly and I can make a character there, or come to Freedom and I'll be around...my Global is Splattercat, so I won't be hard to find...

here are my thoughts on CoH/CoV so far...
Lots seem to have changed. Love the "ragdoll physics"....I took one dude out with a move with my battle axe (no, my wife is not in the game :-) ), and he flipped up onto the dumpster behind him, slid down the dumpster, and his leg got hooked onto something on the dumpster, and just hung there dangling upside down...too cool
Not sure I understand anything really about the badges...I have 2 exploration badges, and if i click on one of them, it says something about my title being changed...not sure what it is.
Right now, I am level 5 (just leveled a few moments ago) with my Bull of Minos hero. Still not sure really how the enhancements work...but, I will hopefully remember.
The game is "prettier" than what I remember. The graphics are superb. No complaints here....but I do get lag pretty bad in Atlas Park...
The game is just...FUN....much funner than I even remember...I am very much enjoying it.
My questions, though...
1. What do the badges mean, and what do you do with them? 2. Can you explain in depth how the enhancements work? 3. How is the pvp?
That is pretty much it right now....

Not sure I understand anything really about the badges...I have 2 exploration badges, and if i click on one of them, it says something about my title being changed...not sure what it is. When you click on a badge, the badge name will appear under your name when others look at you...For example: Splattercat Slayer of Madness Right now, I am level 5 (just leveled a few moments ago) with my Bull of Minos hero. Still not sure really how the enhancements work...but, I will hopefully remember. The game is "prettier" than what I remember. The graphics are superb. No complaints here....but I do get lag pretty bad in Atlas Park... A lot of guys "hang out" in Atlas Park, standing around talking or having costume contests...the large collection of Heroes in one spot like that can cause lag sometimes... The game is just...FUN....much funner than I even remember...I am very much enjoying it. My questions, though... 1. What do the badges mean, and what do you do with them? 2. Can you explain in depth how the enhancements work? 3. How is the pvp? That is pretty much it right now.... Chris Re: Badges: The Badges are for the most part, a type of "sidequest", a lot of people hunt for badges (my main has 207 of them)...But there is a badge category called Accolades...There are a few Accolades that provide bonuses to HP and/or Endurance or provide useful powers (albiet usable once every 25 minutes)...Those are the real reason to collect badges...Some others give Gladiators, which are used in a certain type of PvP arena event...Oh yeah, and exploration Badges give a very minor XP reward... Re: Enhancements: Okay, this is in my own words, so bear with... Since you're an Axe Tank, we'll use Chop as an example...When you first get Chop you have one slot to put an enhancement in...You can only place Enhancements that have a level (the number on them) within 3 levels either way of your level...For example, when you hit level 6, you'll be able to slot Enhancements form levels 3(gaining you a minor bonus) to 9 (providing a more significant bonus)... As you go up in levels, your given slots that you add to your powers...As you hit level 5 for example, you might put your two additional slots in Chop, allowing you to put three Enhancements in it...You could put in 1 damage enhancement in (for +8.3% damage) 1 accuracy (+8.3% accuracy) and +1 attack speed (+8.3% faster recharge)...An alternate route is to go 3 damage enhancements for a +24.9% bonus to your damage on the attack, but it won't be as accurate or as fast...Typically I slot 2 damage 1 accuracy on an attack like that...If you like the attack a lot and add 2 more slots to it (to a maximum of 6) you could have 3 damage 2 accuracy (+24.9% damage, +16.6% accuracy)... You can also combine enhancements...Let's say you have a level 4 damage enhancement in Chop, and an enemy drops you a level 2 damage enhancement...You can combine the two by dragging the level 2 one over the already slotted level 4...The chance of successfully combining the two is 100% -5% per level difference, orin this case 90% (two levels apart)...If it is successful, you now have a level 4+ enhancement, or the equivilent of a level 5...Once you have a level 4++ though, you can't combine it with a lower level enhancement again, but you can combine it with a higher level (i.e. a level 7 enhancement would have a 95% chance of combining, resulting in a level 7+ enhancement... Now, keeping in mind that you can slot enhancements up to 3 levels higher than you, you'll want to save your influence for when you hit levels 7, 12, 17, 22 etc...The Enhancements are sold in 5 level increments (5, 10, 15 and so on) so when you hit level 7, you'll want to upgrade all your enhancements to level 10...As they are three levels higher than you, they will offer a great bonus until you reach level 11, then their bonus will wane...You only need tough it out for one more level though, then at level 12 you can get level 15 enhancements... Speaking of level 12: This is where things get a bit more interesting...At level 12 you are now allowed to slot level 15 enhancements...This is the level where Dual Origin Enhancements start...More commonly referred to as DO's, they offer a greater bonus than Training enhancements, but they are more expensive to buy, and they are only available to heroes of certain Origin...An example: The DO called High Explosive Grenade gives a +16.6% bonus to Damage, but is only available to heroes of Technology or Natural Origin... Note that DOs are twice as effective as Training enhancements, so when use the aforementioned slotting of Chop (3 damage 2 accuracy), but with DOs, you will get + 49.8% to damage and +33.2% to accuracy (rather than +24.9% and 16.6%) so naturally your character will get a big power boost at level 12....Assuming you can afford them, which, if I run into you at some point, don't worry, I'll hook you up ... Alright, this brings us to level 22...Same as level 12, only this time you get access to Single Origin Enhancements: Same as DO's only twice again as effective, and only available to one origin...An example would be Dragon Rage, which adds +33.33% to damage, but can only be used by characters of the Natural origin... This is where your character becomes really powerful, and usually the part where many increase the difficulty of their missions...Again using the same slotting as before, your Chop now has +95% damage and +66.66% accuracy... Okay, I'll explain ED now real quick...Basically, due to early abuse and balance issues, a system of diminishing returns was set in the enhancements...The more of one type of enhancement you slot on a power, the less of a bonus you get...It doesn't have a significant effect until after 3 enhancements, then the bonus drops dramatically...Using damage SOs as an example (some enhancements use different numbers, but the same idea): One slot: +33.3% Two slots: +66.6% Three Slots: +95% Four Slots: +100% Five Slots: +105% Six slots: +110% As you can see, it's not even worth slotting 4 damage...You're using a slot to add 5% damage, when you could be adding +33% accuracy (for example)... I think that should do for a detailed Explanation... Re: PvP: Player vs. Player is a matter of personal preference...it's not something you HAVE to do of course, but up until recently (as in soon) there is very little end game content...You can get your Accolades to make your guy stronger...You can do all the task forces (6 of which provide an accolade with a +5% HP and Endurance bonus), but what then..? You can help others with their missions...You can finish your contacts up and fight through lots of level 50 enemies...Or you can PvP... The PvP zones are actually really good...They can frustrate at times, like if you;'re just passing through and there's a gang of Villains (or Heroes) wandering around killing you...But generally it's a friendly atmosphere...You don't get XP debt for being killed by a player, so there's really nothing to get mad about when it happens...I hsould note of course that if you've taken damage from an enemy that you were fighting and you lose 40% of your life, then get killed by a Player, you will get 40% of what debt you would otherwise accrue by being killed by enemies...This can be annoying, but it's a risk you have to take when venturing into those zones... That said, I'm assuming you're an Invulnerable Tank...All tanks are decent in PvP...possibly the weakest is Stone tanks, but that's inherent with the powerset; in their most power defensive form they have very little offense...Anyway, once again assuming you're an Invulnerable tank, you will have no problem fighting in PvP...Invulnerable tanks are great, and even without Endurance you can take a beating... I don't PvP a lot because my characters are generally built for a one-on-one fight, which doesn't happen very often...I have a Blaster who is really good, but he falls quickly to 2 or 3 heroes...One on one, he's awesome... The main thing to remember in the PvP zones is that there's no such thing as a fair fight...You're either outnumbered or you outnumber them...Occasionally you'll get called out to one on one, but usually the only ones that would challenge a tank are electric brutes (which drain Endurance like mad)... Anyway, I hope that helps...Lemme know if you need anything else...

No...it's a thread about CoH and my name was next to it...You didn't have to read at all, because you already know what's being said... But, now that I know you're not interested in hearing what's coming up, I'll keep my updates to myself...

But for me, the grouping up with ppl, and making friends, basically, the social aspect, is what gets me into these games....

Can you explain the difference between COH and COV please. I am assuming you play as a Hero in one and a Villain in another but there must be more to it than that. Are missions different? I kinda doubt I will get this game but it sure does have me intrigued. If I were to ever play a MMO game this would be it.

Sorry for the late response... There are several differences...CoH is much bigger...Their major updates are called Issues, and CoV was released at the time of CoH's Issue 5...So CoH has WAY more content, but CoV is coming along nicely... Play-wise, CoH is easier to start...It's easier to get around because there aren't huge walls everywhere...Without getting in to the technical parts of it, the Villain Archetypes are mostly Hero-derived i.e. the Corrupter (V) is a Blaster (H) that uses some Defender (H)powersets...This makes them more versatile than Blasters, and more powerful (damage-wise) than Defenders, but they don't have the same damage output of a Blaster, nor the defensive capabilities of a Defender...The combination therein however makes them a match for almost any Hero... The one that's most different is the Mastermind...Many Controller powersets have "pets" you can summon but they're all mindless...Masterminds entire Powerset is based around a type of minion (Mercenaries, Robots, Ninjas, Necromancy and the newly added Thugs)...You start the game with one, and as you progress you get more and they get more powerful...You also get upgrades for them, which gives them additional attacks... okay, now that I've gotten technical, one way to describe the difference is with the Archetypes available...For the Heroes: Blaster: Ranged unit, brutal damage, little/no defense. Primary powerset is ranged attack, secondary is support/melee attack Scrapper: Melee Unit, High damage, high defense. Their Primary powerset is Melee attack, Secondary is defense. They occasionally do Critical hits that can make them do more damage than blasters at times. Tanker: Melee unit, comparatively low damage, retardedly high defense. Their primary powerset is Defense, secondary is melee attack. Defender: Ranged unit, low attack, low defense. They aren't so much about defending themselves as they are those around them. A single defender can keep an entire team alive, making them very valuable and welcome on a team. Controller: Ranged unit: Medium damage, low defense. Their schtick is that if they attack an enemy who is held/immobilized/asleep, they do double damage. Naturall their powersets reflect this, enabling them to subdue multiple opponents at a time. They're comparitively Fragile though... And Villains: Brute: Melee unit, high damage, high defense. The "evil tank". He does much more damage than a tank, but isn't quite as durable. Corrupter: Range unit: high Damage, low defense. The "evil blaster". They get powers like Defenders that do (almost) blaster like damage, which makes them dangerous. They don't actually "defend" as much though; their defender powers lose their protective properties in favour of damage. Dominator: Range Unit: Medium Damage, low defense. The "evil controller". They combine a Controller powerset with a Blaster set...Widely believed to be the weakest of all the Archetypes. Stalker: Ridiculous damage, high defense. The "evil scrapper". Literally. They all have a stealth ability that makes them invisible and while they're invisible they can do a special attack that kills almost anything with one hit...Despite their high defense, they have low Hitpoints and rarely can last in a prolonged fight. Mastermind: This one's different from the rest. Fully controllable minions are really cool, although the fact that they will do 95% of the fighting for you can be a turn off for some. So yeah...My advice if you were to start would be to pick up CoH first...If you like it you can add CoV onto your account with no problem whatsoever...Having both does merit certain advantages however (heroes being allowed Villain only costume parts and vice versa, and 12 characters per server instead of 8 for example)... Hope that helps...
