I cannot recommend it (ROH) enough. And if you get into it I think you will see how not having a TV deal is the best thing for that product, as it is not constrained by commercial breaks, corporate suits, etc. Instead, ROH presents wrestling for hardcore wrestling fans, very reminiscent of a certain game we all know and love (minus the cosmic storylines of course).
And it is cheaper than ordering average at best PPVs several times a month, as they are always running sales on their website. In fact, right now is a buy 3 get 1 free sale.

Thanks for the tip -- I'm going to look into their stuff then for sure. I really need a "true wrestling" fix. Raw almost never does that for me, ECW ditto....TNA is on the slide....Smackdown is solid most weeks.
I signed up for WWE 24/7 online to get the old stuff, but those b**tards don't support Macintosh yet, so I can't even watch the stuff!

Enjoy the wonder that is Bryan Danielson.
Think Euritar with a personality. (Note- I have not gotten Mark's new CPC set, so he very well could have a great heel personality these days that I am unaware of.)

ROH is probably the best pure wrestling product that you can find. I enjoy it when I get a chnce to get my hands on it. Problem is, I'd love to see something like that on telivision. TNA had that sort of promise, but has began to slide. They should just pretend the term Sports Entertainment never was coined and take care of their own business.

DMK, do you think that TV would hurt the ROH product? I feel that the comprimises they would have to make would have a drastic impact on the product, and not for the better. Luckily, Gabe learned from the debacle of ECW's television deal to not rush into anything that may be harmful. And the company is making money, which is more than practically any wrestling promotion can say these days. Obviously the E is excluded here, but their business is tied to so many revenue streams that it is not easily comparable.

Well..ECW's product when it got on TNN didn't change much. They just happened to sign a very, very bad deal. I'd like to see ROH, much like ECW did with hardcore TV produce some kind of show that would be syndicated. Hell...I'll stay up and watch Wednesday's at 3 am on some obscure station just to see some good wrestling.
ROH can stay where they are, I'd rather see TNA improve then take the chance that the ROH product would be ruined in someway by getting a deal.

I'm not a ROH fan. I went to a couple of shows, and it didn't really do anything for me.
TNA will get better. They get the hints now and again, and the longer they go, the better they get.
Both will benefit from the recent talent releases... I can't wait to see who goes where now!

I would like to see TNA give some of their wrestlers personalities. Most of there wrestlers are not black or white but too many shades of grey. They have a great roster of wrestlers who can lay out and perform great matches, Angle (when he is on), Joe, Daniels, Styles, Rhyno, Raven, Christian, etc. I like having faces and heels to cheer for but I don't like continually being confused every week because the storyline doesn't make sense. Do I like Joe or Angle? Do I like Sabin, Daniels, or Jerry Lynn?
The other thing TNA needs is some more managers. Again accentuate the postive hide the negative. I enjoy watching AJ Styles but he doesn't need to be near a microphone most of the time. Let Christopher Daniels bring in the prophecy. Not many people are as good on the mic as Daniels. Let Raven actually speak for seratonin. Let Mitchell have more then one wrestler.

If I wound up having a seat of power in TNA, here are five things I would do:
1) I would focus all of my energy and resources on putting on great shows for the fans. I could care less about other companies and shows competing with us. If you have a product that fans enjoy and keep coming back for, competition cannot touch that.
2) I would take advantage of the recent glut of releases, and sign five of the departed wrestlers. I would bring in Sylvester Terkay, Jazz, Rodney Mack and The Basham Brothers for an interview and tryouts.
3) I would revamp the women's division. As cute as they are, I would rather see women who can wrestler over women who are fluff and eye candy. I would spend some of my focus in making a women's division akin to the X Division, where there would be the best performers from around the globe mixing up different styles. I don't know if it would go over, but I would like to give it a shot.
4) Get rid of Don West on the mic. All he does is shout, and he annoys me. I would try to find someone on the mic who could be a better counterbalance to Mike Tenay. I have no preconceived notions of who that would be, but I'm sure the tryouts would tell the tale.
5) Encourage all of my employees to give their best effort day in and day out. A little effort in building up the spirits of your crew can go a long way.

If you want to be a legit worldwide fed, shouldn't you have a women's champ. 4. Could not agree more. I seriously beleive West wears Depends because he sounds like he soils himself 3 times a show, 6 times on PPV 5. If by encourage you mean pay them more then yes

I don't think you are going to find many people that actually enjoy Don West. I can't believe he sometimes has a job. Sadly hearing West makes me miss Mark Madden...and that is illegal in 12 countries.

I don't watch wrestling to escape, because that implies that we are all escaping to some unspecified place that may be different depending on one's own subjectivity. It's called your imagination. Same reason we all play this awesome game. strong.

I think TNA needs a second hour for Impact. They have too much going on in one hour for everything to sink in. That and get rid of Vince Russo. And never bring Jeff Jarrett back as a wrestler.

Follow up to my last post...
Actually, I was thinking of giving Shane Douglas a tryout on the mic with Mike Tenay. Both knowledgeable about the product and can speak with conviction.
I would definitely give Jazz and Rodney Mack a tryout. Jazz is a very under-utilized wrestler, and Rodney Mack has upside. Not saying I would hire them on the spot, but I certainly give them tryout and interview time. You can never have a pre-conceived notion of what someone can do for your company. The interview process and watching someone in a dark match is something I would be willing to do for anyone with skills. You never know who could take your company to the next level.
And no, encouragement is not to be confused with $$$. If you can give your employees the tools and support they need to do their best, they will be more productive. The more you product, the more $$$ you can generate. So while money is important, it is best when it is earned through effort, and not given out regardless of effort.
