I thought it was a little boring and didn't make much sense. Sting comes out, but Cage is nin the ring and talks smack to Sting. Sting hits him with the b-ball bat and never addresses the crowd. Didn't he have a purpose to come out in the first place. This is further ruined because Cage isn't in the tourney to face Sting as he is eliminated in the first phase. Hoyt looks the best he ever has in the ring the announcers are building it like a career turning moment then he loses? Tag Title match was way too short as they tried to develop the LAX/AMW feud and the Naturals relationship with Shane Douglas. JJ interview was probably the most interesting part of the night IMO. I also felt that Angle was sucking up to the fans way too much then the small brawl with Joe just didn't feel right. Joe and Angle got away from a group of wrestlers holding them back quicker than the referees. I was dissappointed after the Bound for Glory PPV.

I thought it was good...To address Rahl's misgivings: Cage stole Sting's Thunder...Exactly what he wanted to do...He got his a** kicked for it, but really, who wouldn't...? Sting agreed to Christian getting a match and said he would pick the time...He said nothing about the tournament... The Tag match did what it was supposed to...It was chaotic from the start, what with AMW attacking before the match...I thought Homicide reversing a Clothesline into the Gringo-Killah was awesome..!! Hoyt got beat by Abyss, but he's still in the tournament, he just doesn't get the by in the first round... Angle did pretty much what he was supposed to, and once again, his comments to incite Joe were great...As for the wrestlers not holding them back...Dunno, maybe with 30 guys in the ring holding them back they were more willing to fight to get to each other... Overall, I enjoyed the show...

Yep. it'll have places to improve for quite some time, but it's improved, and that's worth mentioning...

Hey, I'd take a 7/10 if I was them. I don't know when I've even seen a 10/10 show, probably at least 5 years. I don't think I'd score any RAW, and esp Smackdown, a 7/10 in the last few y ears.

It was good. My only real gripe is that the reverse battle royal, frankly, was stupid. Same with the giving the bye to the last guy. Why not just make it an eight man tournament?
At the least, I would have had the thing prefaced by Sting saying he set it up to "break the glass ceiling" and give guys who haven't had a lot of chances a shot at the gold.
As for the Christian thing, that was just TNA reminding everyone that they haven't forgotten about Sting-Christian. Sting'll retain over Abyss (or AJ, the only two guys I can see getting a PPV shot), and then Sting-Christian will be on.
Angle did totally come across like an a**kisser...it looked like he was trying to bust Joe open again...I hope this leads to Joe killing him, but it won't happen...=P

Let's see...I thought the tag match was good.
Nash-Shelley-Starr. Good segment. I guess the wriets ahave decided to turn Shelley.
I thought the entire tournament set-up, reverse battle royal, normal battle royal thing was entirely too convulated and overbooked. TNA consistently just has segments where wayyyy too much is going on. No matter how its presented, this just came off as unnecessarily complicated.
I think TNA announcing some cuts would be a really good thing. Trim the fat.
I thought the Jarrett interview was well-delivered. But every single TNA related site i've ever visited, whenever I talk about how much Jarrett has hurt TNA the JJ apologists ALWAYS bring up the fact that JJ is the only guy that the Impact Zone fans will boo on a consistent basis. So why tease a face turn? If thi sleads to the TNA writers turingn someone else on the roster into the monster heel to focus the show around I'm with it. but if JJ comes back in three months and ends up as some against-all-odds main-event uber-face it would completely suck.
The Angle-Joe did what it was supposed to. but the actual promo was awful . Just awful . Was Kurt just winging it out there? I don't think I've ever heard him deliver a less cohesive promo.

I haven't seen it yet, because I'm old and I went to bed early, but I'll watch it while I'm working today.

I thought the reverse battle royal was an interesting twist..they could of worked it better though...Yeah it's the beginning of the Jerrett face turn...will in work?...And an Abyss/Sting match up would work well...Abyss is one of their best workers...And the Christian thing with Rhino still has to play out...Remember they have to pump up the primetime spot with something...

Good card. I think the reverse battle royal into a battle royal into a singles match worked a whole lot better in practice than it looked like it would on paper. Yeah, it's kind of convoluted, but it's a believable way to get people into the mix that otherwise wouldn't have been there. You also got a couple of decent stories outside the ring at the beginning (AMW/LAX and Rhino/Christian), and Bobby Roode was made to look pretty strong in the battle royal portion of the clustermess. It wasn't bad, just kind of ... convoluted.
LAX continues to be the best act in pro wrestling. I liked AMW before their recent "drunk cowboy heels" run, and I'm geeked to see those two teams hook it up. It should be a good match.
All of the interview segments delivered, too. Christian and Sting looked good to start the show, the string of good Jeff Jarrett segments continues, and the Angle/Joe confrontation was a great way to take it home.
All in all, I don't think this show was as good as last week's show, thanks in large part to the clustermess, but it was still a good show. TNA's definitely kept the string alive with this one.
And Joe vs. Angle will be the best PPV wrestling match of the year.

Not to defend TNA here or anything, but if someone put in their LOW of CotG Fed a Reverse Battle Royal and then run the match on their card, people would probably say it was very ingenious and (assuming it went well) would likely consider using the idea for their own...
Now, a game is much much different than an on-air Wrestling Promotion, so I won't say "The Reverse Battle Royal was a resounding success" or anything like that...You either liked the idea or you didn't (or thought it was "much")...Just when BDS mentioned the "on paper" thing made me think of that....
I guess the Medium really is the Message... ;D

I only saw a little as I was watching my Tigers throw one away.
CC is getting worse on the mic each week.
And why is he in the "qualifying reverse then-unreverse battle royal elimination match" if Sting said he's already getting a shot at the title?
I jumped in half way through this promo so I may not have heard the whole thing but that struck me as odd.

No. that was odd. Also odd was having your champion who spent so much time saying he'll take on all comers tell a top contender that he'd get a title "when I decide."
If you look at just what he said, Sting came off more heelish than Christian.

DIdn't Edge have two guaranteed title shots at some point..? Honest question, not comparing the two or anything...But if Christian was told he had a title shot, and the opportunity for another, why woulnd't he take both..?

The out of the ring, under the apron, over the gaurd-rail, swinging from the rafter, flipitty-flop over the top rope jobber cluster fuck was cool...
ya know, if you like that kind of thing...

I know Edge had his MitB shot for a long time before using it in January, so I think that's what you're thining about. Leading in to last year's Cyber Sunday/Taboo Tuesday (whichever it was, I don't care) he was one of the three choices to enter into the triple threat match even though he had his MitB shot anyway.

Actually, Edge was not one of the three wrestlers to be voted into the triple threat main event match. The three wrestlers fans could select were Shawn Michaels, Kane, and the Big Show. Instead, Edge was supposed to be in the tag team match against 2 Smackdown wrestlers chosen by the fans. But Edge got hurt right before Taboo Tuesday and had to replaced in that tag team match by Snitsky.

I know I remember there being some sort of situation where Edge received less votes or other consideration than (probably) HBK... Was I thinking of the previous year, maybe (before he won MitB)?
