Cory,
Looking forward to seeing if Bockwinkel was able to retain his title and give Rikidozan his first defeat as well as the rest of the results for the USWA's Card #150!

Cory, Looking forward to seeing if Bockwinkel was able to retain his title and give Rikidozan his first defeat as well as the rest of the results for the USWA's Card #150! Here's a preview, Vegas!NEWS FLASH RIKIDOZAN WINS THE BELT! Rikidozan remained undefeated and captured the USWA World Heavyweight title on Thanksgiving night at the Louisville Gardens, defeating Nick Bockwinkel. Bockwinkel's injuries from the Alley Fight Match did affect him somewhat, but the Japanese superstar was fired up and focused on capturing gold. He used both his hiplock and thunderous chops to wear down the champ and finally got the pin after another hiplock. This is the fifth time the World Heavyweight title has changed hands this year, which is a record for this normally "stable" championship. Rikidozan is now 12-0 in USWA singles matches. I hope to post full results tomorrow!

Just make sure Rikidozan stays away from knife fights with the Yakuza.
Great win for him. Undefeated streaks like that are hard to come by.

I can't believe that he's done this well either. While Sheik's been losing more lately, overall his record is impressive as well.
I plan to post full results tonight!

November 22, 2007 Card #150: Louisville Gardens
1) Danny Hodge continued his winning ways with a win over “Special Delivery” Jones. S.D. lasted a little bit longer than Danny Doring and Virgil, but the Oklahoman scored another victory with his famed Oklahoma side roll. Hodge showed respect for Jones by shaking hands with him afterwards. DUD
2) The Sheik pinned Virgil. The bodyguard started off with some good punches, but Sheik pulled out his sharp object to gain the advantage. Sheik would use an elbow drop to the throat on Virgil to score the pinfall. ¼*
3) The Flying Redheads spoiled The Killer B’s’ first USWA match together with a victory in an exciting tag team match. This was back-and-forth match, although The Redheads were able to get more pin attempts, perhaps due to more in-ring time together. Billy Red Lyons went for the sleeper on Brutus Beefcake early, but Capt. Lou Albano distracted Tommy Gilbert. Lyons attempted the figure-four leglock as well, but Buff Bagwell intervened. The B’s came back and almost got a countout win, when Bagwell hit a neckbreaker on Lyons on the floor, but Lyons just beat the count back in. Both B’s were busted open, when Red Bastien hit two atomic drops on Bagwell, but again the Captain got involved. Beefcake dodged a flying sledge from Lyons and nailed him with his flying knee smash for a nearfall. The end came out of nowhere, when Bagwell attempted a spinning neckbreaker on Lyons, but Lyons blocked it and turned it into a small package for the 1-2-3. As The Redheads celebrated, The B’s threw a fit and protested their loss. ****½
4) In the first of two special attractions, former USWA Southern Heavyweight champion Killer Kowalski scored a hard fought victory over his rival Yukon Eric. Kowalski had the advantage at the beginning of the bout, hitting a body slam at the opening bell and going for a cover, but only getting a two-count. Eric came back and picked up Kowalski into his Kodiak Krunch (an over-the-shoulder backbreaker), but Kowalski managed to grab the ropes. Kowalski locked on his face claw throughout the bout, grinding more pressure onto Eric’s side of his face, where Kowalski tore his ear off, drawing blood on Eric. Kowalski landed a Bombs Away, the same move that he tore the Eric’s ear off with. The Louisville Gardens crowd got behind Eric’s toughness, but it wasn’t enough as Kowalski finally put him down for the pin with another claw. Capt. Lou Albano celebrated with his former charge. ****½
5) “Playboy” Buddy Rose shocked the world with a huge upset, pinning Antonio Inoki. Inoki started strong, hitting the enzuigiri and locking on the octopus, but “Sensational” Sherri Martel distracted Paul Morton. Rose managed to reverse a whip into the turnbuckle and sent Inoki crashing in hard, head-first. Rose went up to the top rope and hit a Bombs Away, but only got a two-count. Inoki was still shaken up and dazed, so Rose took advantage and hit a second Bombs Away to score the shocking pinfall. Rose is only the third man in the USWA to score a pin or submission on Inoki, after Nick Bockwinkel and “Strangler” Lewis. **¼
6) A big six-man tag team bout was up next, as Giant Baba, “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka, and Bruiser Brody gained a victory over The Midnight Express and Justin Credible. This was a wild back-and-forth bout. The “Louisville Slugger” Jim Cornette got showered with boos in his hometown before the match. Mama Cornette must have not had a happy Thanksgiving to see her boy treated that way! “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton and “Loverboy” Dennis Condrey double teamed the big Baba, busting him open in the opening minutes, after Condrey hit him with Jim Cornette’s tennis racket on the floor, then hit his face-first leg sweep. While the move drew blood, it couldn’t beat the Japanese giant. Condrey took some punishment from Snuka and Brody, who showcased their teamwork. Eaton came back in, but “Superfly” took over again. He hit the Superfly Leap, but Condrey and Credible broke up the pin. Brody and Baba jumped in and took them out, as Baba chopped Credible to the floor. (The two didn’t pair off many times during this bout.) Brody threw out Condrey, then stood in the corner to be legally tagged in. He dropped a big jumping knee drop on “Beautiful” Bobby to put him down for the second card in a row. ****
7) In the second special attraction, USWA Texas champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine and his father Johnny Valentine (the first USWA World Heavyweight champ) successfully defended their AWA World Tag Team titles against “Dastardly” Danny Doring and Cousin Luke. The Louisville fans were very respectful and gave Johnny a big cheer for his one-night return. Greg wasted little time in blasting the hillbilly Luke with a clothesline right at the bell and getting a very nearfall. Luke and Doring tried their best, but it was the Valentines’ night, as they tagged in and out and punished the bizarre duo with their stiff offense. Greg locked Danny in the figure-four leglock, which Doring felt last month in Dallas during their Texas title match. Luke jumped in to save his partner, but was met by Johnny’ Atomic Skullcrusher! Doring was left with no choice but to tap out. Capt. Lou Albano came down afterwards to celebrate with the AWA champs, although Johnny showed little interest in the rubber banded manager! *½
8) Nobody was sure whom Sabu would be facing in a No-Disqualification Match, after the Bombay madman broke the ribs of Dan “The Beast” Severn. But suddenly Severn walked out with his coach, Richard Hutton and his ribs heavily bandaged! Sabu had the early advantage, launching himself several times off a chair with Air Sabu and a flying body splash in the corner. He hit Severn with the chair, then set it up to attempt the triple jump moonsault—the same move that broke Severn’s ribs. Sabu went for it, but Severn moved out of the way, causing Sabu to hit the mat hard. Severn immediately went for the wakigatame, which got a big pop from the crowd. Sabu managed to make the ropes. (Even though it was No-Disqualification, the ropes were still considered “out of bounds”, so a fall couldn’t be scored.) Severn then stretched Sabu for several minutes with the bow and arrow. He threw Sabu with the fireman’s carry slam, dropping him on his head and busting him open. Sabu did make a comeback and had Severn against the ropes. But the former Southern champion got away and nailed Sabu with a series of stiff knee smashes to Sabu’s bloody head. Sabu was knocked out and Severn covered him, working in a half nelson and scoring the pinfall. Despite what looked to be impossible odds, “The Beast” gained a measure of revenge on his rival! ***
9) With The Heenan Family barred from ringside, Ed “Strangler” Lewis got a very quick DQ win over “The Big O.” Bob Orton, Sr. Lewis naturally got a big cheer in his hometown. He was in control of Orton in the first minute, having one counter hold after the other for Orton. He locked in a full nelson and held on tight, taking Orton down to one knee. Orton, perhaps panicking without Bobby Heenan at ringside and the crowd against him, was able to use a free hand to punch Jerry Calhoun! Orton then broke the full nelson with a low kick to the “Strangler”. Calhoun immediately called for the bell, disqualifying Orton. The Gardens were about to riot at such a short match with a “cheap” ending. Orton brought a chair into the ring and was going to piledrive Lewis on it, but Lewis recovered and back dropped out of the hold! He then locked on the Strangler’s Headlock and threw Orton down to the canvas. Orton struggled, but tapped out repeatedly, even though the bout was over. Lewis was a man possessed and it took several USWA referees and officials to pull him off! The crowd settled down and cheered Lewis, seeing him the victor. Orton looked in rough shape and had to be helped to the back. Neg*
10) After an intermission, the main event was on. Nick Bockwinkel, despite injuries from a grueling Alley Fight Match less than a week earlier against Mil Mascaras, put the World Heavyweight title on the line against the undefeated Rikidozan. Bockwinkel of course had his manager, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, in his corner, while the challenger was accompanied by fellow countrymen Giant Baba and Antonio Inoki. Baba and Inoki were there more to watch over their mentor, rather than interfere, as often happens in Japan. The two wrestlers started slow and showcased great scientific wrestling, although the Japanese superstar seemed to gain the advantage more often than not. Bockwinkel got a backslide out of nowhere, but Rikidozan quickly kicked out. Soon it was all Rikidozan, as he hit several hiplocks and thunderous chops, which wore down the already wounded champ. While Rikidozan was delivering chops, Heenan got up on the apron to get involved, but was met with a chop himself and went flying off the apron! Inoki and Baba hauled “The Weasel” up the aisleway to keep him away from the action. Rikidozan threw Bockwinkel down with a hiplock and rolled into a press. Jerry Calhoun counted the 1-2-3 and a new champion was crowned! Inoki and Baba came back down to hold up the new champ on their shoulders! Ed “Strangler” Lewis came down and shook hands with the new champion as well. Several fan favorites came down to congratulate the new champ as the Gardens cheered history being made on Thanksgiving! **

November 23, 2007 St. Paul Civic Center: St. Paul, MN AWA Card
The day after the USWA’s historic 150th event, two USWA tag teams battled on an AWA card for the USWA World Tag Team titles. The Heenan Family duo of The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy put the titles on the line against two-time former champs “The Legion of Doom”—The Road Warriors. Hawk and Animal were looking to win their third tag team championship, and what would be a record for those titles. “Precious” Paul Ellering traveled with The Warriors for this important bout. Bobby “The Brain” Heenan had announced on USWA Championship Wrestling on WMC-TV that he would not be attending this event, but not surprisingly, he didn’t keep his word and accompanied the champs to ringside!
Both teams exchanged offense early in the match. Animal started pounding on the big Bundy. Hawk tagged in and The Warriors hit a their modified version of the Doomsday Device on Bundy, where Animal lifts Bundy into a bear hug, rather than on his shoulders, then Hawk comes off the top with the flying clothesline. Hawk went for the cover, but the Superstar broke it up. Hawk was able to use his great strength and body slam Bundy, which rocked the Civic Center crowd! After the massive slam, Hawk went for a cover and it looked like history would be made. But “The Weasel” jumped in the ring to break up the pinfall. AWA referee Gary DeRusha immediately called for the bell and disqualified Superstar and Bundy, giving the Road Warriors the win, but not the belts. Ellering jumped in and decked Heenan for his interference. The Warriors and Ellering ran the trio out of the ring and stood in the ring the winners, but not the champions. **½
In the next update…hear the fallout from the Thanksgiving night card, and the first two matches for New Year’s Knockout IV are announced!

'Playboy' Buddy Rose beat Antonio Inoki ?!!!! Bias promoting, that has to be it. Hey, I was as shocked as anyone else, even given Rose's past in the USWA! I figured with his poor record this year, he'd drop another match. Stay tuned! Great card bro, out'friggin'standing !!!! Thanks, Kevin! I think December's going to have some great action, perhaps better!

I forgot to mention in a previous post, thanks to Chad for playing the Bundy & Superstar vs. Road Warriors match in his fed. Hopefully he'll get caught up on his results and we'll see full results of that card in the not to distant future in his AWA thread in the not too distant future.

Highlights from USWA Championship Wrestling on November 23 and 30: • USWA Committee member Jerry Jarrett announced that the fourth annual New Year’s Knockout will take place as always on December 31, and will be “coming home” to the Mid-South Coliseum in Memphis. Jarrett announced that the main event has already been made, as Rikidozan will put the USWA World Heavyweight title on the line for the first time against “The Man of 1,000 Masks” Mil Mascaras! The Committee awarded Mascaras his first title shot due to his victory over Nick Bockwinkel in the Alley Fight. It is interesting in that Mascaras and Rikidozan are allies. This should be a great scientific bout, and will definitely be a World Title level match. • On the November 23 edition, Bobby Heenan gave a “state of the union” on The Heenan Family. He said that Bob Orton, Sr. has decided to leave the USWA after his slaughter by Ed “Strangler” Lewis. “The Brain” said that as always he has been on the look for the best talent in the world and has signed one great wrestler to join The Heenan Family. Heenan said that this man is well-known in professional wrestling and will debut at New Year’s Knockout IV. When Lance Russell asked the identity of the newest Family member, “The Brain” said he would reveal it in a few weeks. • Heenan also announced that Nick Bockwinkel will be taking the next few weeks off to let his injuries heal. But his challenge to Ed “Strangler” Lewis is still standing. Heenan said that Bockwinkel wants the match at New Year’s Knockout. “The Brain” reminded the audience that it was at last year’s New Year’s Knockout when Lewis and Bockwinkel first crossed paths, when “Strangler” served as special guest referee for Bockwinkel’s defense of the USWA World Heavyweight title against Harley Race in a 60-Minute Iron Man Match. • Lewis accepted Heenan’s challenge on the November 30 edition. The former champ said that this has been brewing for one year, but due to different circumstances, the bout has not taken place. Lewis encouraged Bockwinkel’s sabbatical the next month, as he wants Bock at his best when they clash. Two great matches already made for this USWA tradition! • A Japanese spokesman announced that two-time former USWA World Heavyweight champion Antonio Inoki has decided to leave to the USWA and return to wrestle in Japan. The Japanese superstar thanked the American fans for their support and hopes to return in the future, but for the time being, will be competing in New Japan Pro Wrestling and going after the IWGP World Heavyweight championship.
Coming off a great 150th card, the USWA isn’t resting one bit as a huge card comes to the world famous Sportatorium in Dallas on December 7! • In a big rematch, Giant Baba battles former Texas champ Justin Credible! Although Baba’s team won the six-man tag team bout on Thanksgiving night, he and the Singapore cane swinger hardly crossed paths. The Japanese giant wants to avenge his tainted loss from a few weeks ago and if Jim Cornette gets in the way, Baba will chop him down! • In a huge tag team rematch from the last Dallas card, “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Bruiser Brody do battle with The Road Warriors! It has been confirmed that Snuka and Brody will challenge for the USWA World Tag Team titles against The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy on December 14. The Legion of Doom are awaiting another title match, after their DQ victory over the champs on the AWA card. These two popular teams will lock horns once again. Who will emerge the victors? • In one of the most wildest team feuds in USWA history, Southern Heavyweight champion Frank Gotch and Richard Hutton will take on The Sheik and Sabu! Abdullah Farouk’s sadistic duo is more focused than ever on destroying Team RPW. What will happen? • Greg “The Hammer” Valentine will make the last defense of the USWA Texas championship for this year, when he goes for revenge on the man who broke his winning streak—B. Brian Blair. The Killer Bees have said that they won’t try to pull their “Masked Confusion” tricks. Blair said they won’t need to, that he can win the gold on his own. He said that after that he and Brunzell will take on Capt. Lou’s Killer B’s. Can Blair capture his first USWA gold or will “The Hammer” hold on? • In a huge six-man tag team main event, new World Heavyweight champion Rikidozan teams up with his New Year’s Knockout IV opponent Mil Mascaras as well as Ed “Strangler” Lewis to take on the World Tag Team champions The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy and making his in-ring USWA debut—their manager Bobby “The Brain” Heenan! With Bob Orton, Sr. gone from the USWA and Nick Bockwinkel recuperating from injury, Heenan is “stepping up” and being a good leader for the Family. He claimed that the World Tag Team champions will wear down “Strangler” prior to NYK IV, and get revenge on Rikidozan and Mascaras for their recent wins over Bockwinkel. Heenan said that when the time is right, he himself will go for the pinfall victory. Can the Heenan Family defeat this trio of popular wrestlers? This will be Lewis’ first tag team match of any kind. How will he function? Can Mascaras and Rikidozan work together with their World title bout just a few weeks away? All this plus Danny Hodge, The Killer B’s look for their first win, and in a special attraction, Antonio Rocca!

December 7, 2007 Card #151: Sportatorium in Dallas
1) The Killer B’s got a win, although by DQ, over Danny Doring and Cousin Luke. Brutus Beefcake and Buff Bagwell showcased some good team work, as they tagged in and out and kept the hillbilly in the ring the entire time. Luke got hit by the Buff Blockbuster. Doring, actually trying to help his partner, jumped in the ring with a steel chair, handed to him by Virgil. Doring nailed Buff across the back with the chair, while Virgil attempted to distract Kevin Christian. But Christian turned around in time to see the infraction and call for the bell. The B’s would have liked a pinfall win, but were satisfied with this. **
2) Danny Hodge had a more of a challenge here, but still emerged victorious over “Jumping” Jim Brunzell. These two went back-and-forth and exchanged some fast-paced mat wrestling and great holds. Hodge swept the leg and got Brunzell down in an Indian Deathlock, which earned him a submission win. Hodge, always the sportsman and impressed by Brunzell’s scientific style, shook hands with the Killer Bee afterwards. **
3) The Midnight Express got a needed win over The Flying Redheads, although needed some assistance in doing so. This was back-and-forth as well. The Redheads took over midway through the bout, but when the action spilled to the floor, “Loverboy” Dennis Condrey cracked Red Bastien in the head with the tennis racket, while Jim Cornette detained Frank Morrell. Condrey hit the face-first leg sweep, but Bastien managed to kick out. Lyons tagged in and locked Condrey in the figure-four leglock. While Bastien and “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton battled in one corner and Cornette again tried to jump in, Justin Credible came in from the other side of the ring and smashed Lyons with the Singapore cane to the ribs. Once the ring cleared, Eaton choked Lyons on the ropes. Cornette jammed the racket into Lyons’ ribs. Eaton went for a cover, but only got two. The Midnights hit the Double Goozle and focused on the ribs. Condrey tagged out again and suplexed Lyons stomach and ribs-first onto Eaton’s knee. The punishment was finally enough to put the Canadian down for the pinfall. The fans applauded the Redheads’ great effort despite a basic four-on-two. ****
4) “Playboy” Buddy Rose, fresh off his big win over Antonio Inoki, scored a win over S.D. Jones. Rose underestimated “Special Delivery” at first, as Jones got a very nearfall after one of his famous head butts. Rose came back and hit a Bombs Away, but wasn’t ready to win, as he pulled Jones’s shoulder up. A few minutes later a second Bombs Away put Jones down for the count. “Sensational” Sherri Martel was in a better mood after her man’s last two wins. *¼
5) In a special attraction, Antonino Rocca dazzled the crowd again, with a win over Virgil. The Argentinian sensation showcased his unique offense. There was scary moment, as Rocca slipped when coming off the top rope and landed face-first. Virgil, caring more about a victory than another’s well-being, locked on the Million Dollar Dream, but Rocca got to the ropes. With the fans behind him, Rocca came back, took down Virgil with a big body scissors and was able to keep the bodyguard’s shoulders on the mat for the 1-2-3. Hopefully Rocca will make more appearances in the USWA in 2008. **¼
6) Giant Baba got a measure of revenge, scoring a pinfall over Justin Credible. Like The Midnight Express’ earlier match, Jim Cornette was at it again. Baba hit the dreaded neckbreaker drop early on, but Cornette distracted and stopped a potential pin. This allowed Justin to use the cane, not once, but twice. But the giant would not be stopped. He came back and scored a win after a big piledriver on Credible. He looked ready to beat on Cornette afterwards, but Cornette made a getaway! ***½
7) “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Bruiser Brody scored another big win over The Road Warriors, prior to challenging for the USWA World Tag Team titles. Hawk kicked out of both a running leg drop from Brody, as well as the jumping knee drop. Brody went for a dropkick and missed. Hawk took an advantage and hit a vertical suplex, then tagged in Animal who hit a big splash on Brody for a nearfall. “Superfly” tagged back in and hit Animal with a flying head butt. Animal was shaken up, but wouldn’t go down. Snuka hit a second head butt to knock him down. Brody came in and stood in the corner, while Snuka climbed up on his shoulders, then came off with a perfect Superfly Leap. Brody cut off Hawk and Snuka got the three-count. Brody and Snuka helped Animal to his feet and shook hands with both Warriors, as well as Paul Ellering. The Legion of Doom wished them well in their title match and stated that they will be waiting in line for a shot of their own. ***
8) The Sheik and Sabu got a win over Southern Heavyweight champ Frank Gotch and Dick Hutton, but may have lost after the bout! This was the usual wild bout between Team RPW and Sheik and Sabu. New Southern Heavyweight champ Gotch looked to have Sheik beaten with the Gotch Toehold, but Abdullah Farouk distracted Frank Morrell. Sabu came in and was the dominant member for his team, working over Hutton. Sabu hit a good triple jump moonsault, but Gotch broke it up. Sabu pounded on Hutton and locked in the Camel Clutch. Hutton fought hard, but ultimately surrendered. As Sheik, Sabu, and Farouk celebrated their victory, out of the crowd came the first USWA Southern champion Bobo Brazil! It was over a year ago in Lexington, when Sabu put Brazil through a table with the moonsault and broke his ribs. Brazil charged the ring, as the Sportatorium went crazy! Sheik saw him and ran for cover, but Sabu wasn’t as lucky, as Bobo pounded away on him with big fists! Sabu eventually made his way to the back, but Bobo stood alone in the ring! ***¾
9) History was made, as B. Brian Blair showed he can beat Greg Valentine in a fair match and by doing so, Blair became the new USWA Texas champion! “The Hammer” wanted to avenge his embarrassing loss to Blair, who switched with legal participant Jim Brunzell a few weeks ago. “Jumping” Jim was at ringside, but did not get physically involved in the bout. Valentine went for the figure-four leglock, but Blair kicked him off before he could lock it, sending Valentine head-first into the buckle. Blair got to his feet and caught the rebounding champion in the sleeper, the same hold he used to beat Valentine. He held it on for several minutes, when The Killer B’s came down to ringside. Capt. Lou Albano tried to distract Tommy Marlin, but Marlin figured out what was going on. Brunzell nailed Brutus Beefcake from behind. Buff Bagwell turned to help, but was met with a big dropkick! Marlin ordered The B’s to the back. Valentine had gotten to the ropes, but Blair pounced on him again with the sleeper. Marlin checked the arms and it dropped three times, giving Blair the win and his first USWA championship! **¾
10) New World Heavyweight champion Rikidozan, Mil Mascaras, and Ed “Strangler” worked well as a team and scored a very quick win over World Tag Team champions The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy…oh yeah, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan was also in the match. The two masked men started off. Superstar locked the Cobra Hold on, but the luchador reached the ropes. Bundy came in, but Mascaras dazzled him with his offense and locked in the octopus hold. Bundy wouldn’t give, so Lewis tagged in and locked on the Strangler’s Headlock. He couldn’t take him over, but held the headlock tight, weaking Bundy. Bundy got to the ropes, but when Lewis broke. He took him down with a double leg and worked in a half nelson. Lewis looked like he had a pinfall, but was in the Heenan Family corner, where “The Brain” stuck in a boot to break up the pin attempt. Lewis went to get Heenan, but the manager clad in a black singlet, jumped off the apron and ran up the aisle to avoid harm. Lewis tagged out to Rikidozan who managed to get Bundy over with the hiplock (although not with the usual height he gets on it). The World champ pinned the Tag Team champ to score the win for the popular trio. Heenan never saw ring action, not surprisingly! Rikidozan, Mascaras, and Lewis all exchanged handshakes. ¼*
In the next update, more big matches announced for New Year's Knockout IV! And the preview for Card #152 from Jonesboro, AR!

Another good card Cory.
Looking forward to the developments concerning Brazil and Sabu and The Sheik.
Also, really looking forward to the upcoming match between Brody and Snuka vs your tag team champions Bundy and the Masked Superstar. Seeing how well Brody and Snuka are doing for you with their # 1 contenders status and impressive defeat over the Road Warriors, I might have to team them up too in my own fed sometime.
Also, congratulations to B. Brian Blair on becoming the new USWA Texas Champion.

Brody and Snuka all around have been a great team, but had been in a bit of a slump in the summer-fall and I wasn't sure what to do with them. But since they've gotten wins over The Road Warriors, The Midnights, and of course the champs, I figured they have to get a title shot. I'm interested to see if they can win the gold.

More great matches have been made for New Year’s Knockout IV! • In a big rematch, Frank Gotch will put the Southern Heavyweight championship on the line against The Sheik. To ensure there will be a clear winner, this has been made a No-Disqualification Match! And as an added stipulation, the loser of the match will no get a return shot at the Southern title, as long as his enemy holds the championship! So much riding on the line in this war between Team RPW and Abdullah Farouk’s men! • After his surprising return in Dallas, Bobo Brazil will look for revenge on Sabu! Brazil told Lance Russell this week on WMC-TV that he had been wrestling around the world, once his broken ribs had healed, as he wanted to be in the best shape to get his revenge. Bobo wants to get his hands first on Sabu, since it was the Bombay maniac who put him through the table last year with the triple jump moonsault and put him out of action. The former Southern champ said that once he finishes Sabu off, his uncle The Sheik better watch out! • Bobby “The Brain” Heenan finally revealed that the newest Heenan Family member will be…”Ravishing” Rick Rude! Rude is a well-known star in the world of professional wrestling, most recently holding the WCCW World Heavyweight championship, which he feuded over with the popular David Von Erich. “The Brain” announced that Rude will wrestle his debut match at NYK IV against the former Texas and World Tag Team champion Red Bastien. • In a confusing tag team match, The Killer Bees will do battle with Capt. Lou Albano’s Killer B’s. New Texas champ B. Brian Blair said that he and “Jumping” Jim will embarrass the Captain’s “pretty boys” and show them what tag team wrestling is all about!
We’ve got two more great cards before NYK IV. Card #152 from the Earl Belle Community Center in Jonesboro, AR won’t disappoint! • B. Brian Blair may hold a singles championship, but The Killer Bees aren’t slowing down their tag team matches, as they will take on former champs The Midnight Express. The Bees defeated The Express back on October 19 to earn a shot at The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy. Remember, Blair and Brunzell have yet to lose a tag match by pinfall or submission since their return. Which team will walk out the victors? • Before his epic battle with Nick Bockwinkel, Ed “Strangler” Lewis takes on former Texas champ Greg “The Hammer” Valentine. Valentine scored a big upset on Lewis back in July and is looking for another win to get back in the title hunt. But Lewis is hoping to showcase his wrestling skills before doing battle with Bockwinkel. Will it be the Strangler’s Headlock or the figure-four that brings the win? • Mil Mascaras will lock-up with Justin Credible. “The Man of 1,000 Masks” is on a roll before he challenges the World Heavyweight title, but never underestimate the Singapore cane swinging bodyguard! • Danny Hodge will face his toughest challenge so far in the USWA, when he gets involved in Team RPW’s war and faces Sabu! Will it be Hodge’s pure wrestling style or Sabu’s extreme brawling that will reign supreme? • Speaking of this team battle, in a match that’s very important to the Jonesboro fans, The Sheik goes one-on-one with Dick Hutton! It was one year ago that Hutton became the first man to pin The Sheik, when he turned his abdominal stretch into a lateral guillotine during a tag bout with Hutton and Frank Gotch against Sheik and Sabu. Hutton recently got a DQ win over Sheik, but would love to get another clean victory over the Syrian madman. Will lightning strike twice in the Earl Belle Community Center? • The main event will be for the USWA World Tag Team titles as The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy put the gold on the line against “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Bruiser Brody. The challengers scored a non-title win on the champions on November 2 in Nashville? Can they repeat or will the Heenan Family duo hold on to the gold again? Plus, The Killer B’s look for revenge on The Flying Redheads, “Playboy” Buddy Rose, Giant Baba, and more in action! That’s at the Earl Belle Community Center on Church Street!

Sounds like a good show for New Year's Knockout, hopefully I'll have a front row seat! Can't wait to see the war between the Killer Bees/B's. Speaking of Dick Hutton, did I tell you there were two interviews concerning him/with him on that Bobby Davis DVD you lent me? Two Dick Hutton sightings in on one DVD is a rare occurance! I hope the shooters take it to the evil Sheik & Sabu! Good must prevail!

Sounds like a good show for New Year's Knockout, hopefully I'll have a front row seat! I don't know, it's a VIP list of attendees. I'll have to double check the list to see if you're on it. Speaking of Richard Hutton, did I tell you there were two interviews concerning him/with him on that Bobby Davis DVD you lent me? Two Richard Hutton sightings in on one DVD is a rare occurance! No, you did not tell me this! It's funny that you've seen more of my DVD than I have. I will have to watch it to learn his interview "style" and incorporate it here for Team RPW.

This was the first card I played using the new game charts.
December 14, 2007 Card #152: Earl Belle Community Center in Jonesboro, AR
1) Danny Doring was victorious in the opener over rival S.D. Jones. The “Dastardly One” looked impressive here, although ultimately needed some help to score the win. Virgil tripped Jones coming off the ropes, allowing Doring to hit a clothesline from behind and follow up with the Danaconda for the pinfall. **½
2) The Flying Redheads scored another victory over The Killer B’s. The Redheads showed that they have more time together as a team. They double teamed Buff Bagwell several times and busted him open. Brutus Beefcake was more of the aggressor for his team, choking Red Bastien with a microphone chord on the floor. Bastien would come back and hit the airplane spin into the atomic drop on Beefcake. A bloody Bagwell was too weak to save his partner and The B’s dropped their second match to The Redheads. ****½
3) Giant Baba scored a victory over Virgil by countout. The Japanese giant looked fired up and refused to let up on Virgil. He knocked the bodyguard nailed over the top rope with one of his famous chops. Virgil was so shaken up he couldn’t return to the ring. DUD
4) Cousin Luke scored the biggest win of his USWA career defeating former World Heavyweight champion “Playboy” Buddy Rose! Rose may have underestimated the hillbilly, after scoring a recent upset of his own in beating Antonio Inoki. Luke got the crowd behind him and hit five Hillbilly Drops on Rose. At one point, “Sensational” Sherri Martel jumped in the ring. Before she could attack Luke jumped up and chased her around the ring, seeming eager to try and catch her! He almost got counted out, but rolled back in. Rose was busted open and got blasted with a big mule kick, which put him down for the shocking three-count! **½
5) The Killer Bees defeated The Midnight Express by countout. “Beautiful” Bobby and “Loverboy” Dennis worked over new Texas champion B. Brian Blair early on, tagging in and out. The Bees came back, but Eaton hit a spinning neckbreaker on Blair out of nowhere. He went for a cover, but “Jumping” Jim jumped in to break up the pin. Condrey came in as well and all four ended up brawling on the arena floor. Tommy Gilbert was putting the count on all four, with Blair and Eaton as the legal men. Blair rolled into the ring by 9½. Eaton rolled in, but just after the 10-count, giving The Bees the win. They still have yet to lose by pin or submission since their return. **¼
6) Ed “Strangler” Lewis avenged a loss from July, defeating Greg “The Hammer” Valentine. This was a hard-hitting match, with Valentine working over Lewis’ legs and applying the figure-four, while Lewis of course would execute the Strangler’s Headlock. Valentine had the advantage and went for a running elbow smash in the corner, but Lewis sidestepped the charge. Valentine hit hard. Lewis caught him on the rebound and took him down with the headlock again. Lewis kept “The Hammer’s” shoulders down on the mat for the pinfall. ****
7) Mil Mascaras pinned Justin Credible. The luchador controlled most of the action against the brawler. After hitting a slingshot plancha to the floor, Mascaras threw Credible back in the ring, then came off the top rope with a beautiful flying body press to score the win. ¼*
8) Danny Hodge had his toughest match in the USWA to date, but still emerged the victor of sorts, getting a DQ win over Sabu. The Bombay madman controlled most of the action, making use of a chair, while Abdullah Farouk distracted Kevin Christian. Sabu seemed more bent on hurting Hodge than winning and got caught doing the Arabian facebuster, which led to Christian immediately calling for the bell. Hodge needed help getting back to the locker room. *
9) The Sheik avenged his first USWA loss in the same building from a year earlier, defeating Team RPW coach Dick Hutton. Hutton locked on the abdominal stretch early, which got a big pop from the Earl Belle Community Center, but Sheik got to the ropes. The former Southern champ regained control and bite Hutton’s forehead. Sheik drove his elbow right into Hutton’s throat and covered him for the win. Afterwards, Sabu returned to the ring and joined Sheik in double teaming Hutton. Sheik drove more elbows into Hutton’s throat. Sabu grabbed a table from ringside and brought it into the ring. Sheik placed him on the table and Sabu appeared to be going for the triple jump moonsault. Before he could, Bobo Brazil ran out of the crowd and punched away at them. Hutton suffered a minor throat injury, but otherwise was alright. (Southern champ Frank Gotch was not at this card, and Danny Hodge was still nursing wounds from his previous match.) **¼
10) The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy put their World Tag Team titles on the line in the main event against “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Bruiser Brody. Brody actually took a lot of punishment from the champs, getting hit with the Avalanche and two spinning neckbreakers. The “Superfly” got a nearfall on the Superstar after a flying head butt. Brody hit a dropkick on Bundy, the same move he used to pin Bundy in their non-title bout back on November 2. This time it got Brody a count of 2¾. Superstar came in and locked Brody in the Cobra Hold. Brody was holding on, but starting to drop. Out of nowhere The Road Warriors and “Precious” Paul Ellering made a surprise appearance, since they weren’t scheduled on the card. Apparently The Legion of Doom was looking for a measure of revenge on The Heenan Family, after their match in St. Paul a few weeks ago. Ellering jumped Bobby “The Brain” Heenan at ringside, while Hawk and Animal jumped in the ring and attacked the champs. Tommy Gilbert immediately called for the bell and gave the champs the DQ victory. (All of Superstar and Bundy’s title defenses have ended in a DQ or countout result so far.) The Warriors stood in the ring, while the champs retreated to the locker room. Brody and Snuka recovered and didn’t look too happy that the Warriors got them disqualified. ***
More matches to be announced in the next report for New Year’s Knockout IV and the line-up for Card #153—the last stop before NYK!
