•On the October 27 edition, USWA Committee member Jerry Jarrett announced that in honor of the USWA’s 150th card, a special event will be held on November 22— Thanksgiving night at the Louisville Gardens! He said that the Committee is attempting to get some huge bouts signed for that night. Matches will be announced in the coming weeks. Yes, I'll have a ringside seat for the action! Maybe we can have some AWA vs. USWA interpromotional matches. The AWA usually does a Thanksgiving card the day after, so will you return the favor?

The USWA returns to the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville on November 2. A HUGE night of action will take place! • Two tag teams in need of a win will do battle again, as former World Tag Team champions The Midnight Express will face The Flying Redheads! The Redheads scored a big win on “Beautiful” Bobby and “Loverboy” Dennis on Card #145. Will history repeat itself? • The World Tag Team champs will also be in action, as The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy face “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Bruiser Brody in a non-title contest. Brody and Snuka are fresh off their win over The Road Warriors. A win over the champs would almost certainly earn them a title bout. Who will win this hard hitting tag bout? • Southern Heavyweight champion The Sheik is a wanted man! He’ll team up with his nephew Sabu to battle Team RPW members Frank Gotch and Dan “The Beast” Severn. Severn is looking to get his hands on The Sheik, after feeling the effects of his fireball and losing the Southern gold. Gotch has battled Sheik on numerous occasions and ironically also lost the Southern belt to Sheik. He also was recently blasted with the fireball. This is a tag team war! • The main event will be for the World Heavyweight championship, as Antonio Inoki puts the gold on the line against his rival Nick Bockwinkel! Bockwinkel is looking for a record third World title here. His arm is still sore from Mil Mascaras’ attack from a few weeks ago, but he looked impressive in a win over Giant Baba. The Municpal Auditorium hosted a World title bout between these two at this same time last year. Then-champion Bockwinkel came out the victory via countout in a wild bout. Can Bockwinkel regain the gold or will the Japanese sensation reign supreme? The Killer Bees will also face Cousin Luke and Virgil in a rematch before their big Tag Team title shot! Plus the undefeated Rikidozan in action, and “Special Delivery” Jones returns from injury looking for revenge on “Dastardly” Danny Doring!
This fed is spectacular and one of my favorites. Can't wait for the results of this huge card.

I feel like I haven't posted here in forever! NEWS FLASH BOCKWINKEL MAKES HISTORY Nick Bockwinkel made history once again as he captured the USWA World Heavyweight title for the third time, defeating Antonio Inoki on November 2 in Nashville. Despite an injured arm, Bockwinkel dominated most of the bout and was able to put out Inoki with his famed Bockwinkel Sleeper. Look for full results this weekend!

November 2, 2007 Card #147: Municipal Auditorium in Nashville1) “Special Delivery” Jones returned from injury and got a decisive win over “Dastardly” Danny Doring. Late in the match, he started doing his Philly Shuffle, to the crowd’s delight and looked ready to deliver a big punch to Doring. Virgil jumped up on the ring apron, but he got hit with the punch instead! S.D. locked Doring in a sleeper and put him out to get revenge. ** 2) Texas champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine defeated one-half of The Road Warriors—Hawk in a competitive non-title match. Hawk looked on his way to what would have been a big win. He hit his flying clothesline off the top rope, but Capt. Lou Albano distracted referee Tommy Gilbert. He showcased his strength by dropping “The Hammer” with a gorilla press slam, which brought him a two-count. Valentine took the match to the floor. With Albano distracting Gilbert again and “Precious” Paul Ellering going after the rubber banded manager, Valentine grabbed a steel chair and nailed Hawk in the right leg with it. He threw Hawk back in the ring and applied the figure-four. Hawk fought for the ropes, but the pain from both the chair shot and the hold was too much. Valentine gained a submission win. *** 3) The Midnight Express gained some revenge with a win over The Flying Redheads. The Redheads started off strong, double teaming and tagging in and out against “Loverboy” Dennis. “Beautiful” Bobby tagged in and went at it with Billy Red Lyons. Lyons bounced off the ropes with a cross body block. Eaton caught him and stumbled backwards, sending both men over the top to the floor. Eaton landed on top of the “pile” and Lyons hit his head hard. Eaton threw him back into the ring, tagged in to Condrey and The Midnights hit the Midnight Massacre for the pin. Red Bastien checked on his partner afterwards, but Lyons suffered no serious injury. **½ 4) Bob Orton, Sr. pinned “Playboy” Buddy Rose. Rose hit the Bombs Away early, but “The Big O.” kicked out. Orton executed two of his big piledrivers during the match, but Rose kicked out of the first, and “Sensational” Sherri Martel distracted Frank Morrell after the second. Rose came off the top rope with a double sledge, but Orton blocked it with a boot to the midsection, then followed up with a third piledriver, which finally put Rose down. ***¼ 5) Dick Hutton scored a big win and what some would consider an upset over Mil Mascaras. The Team RPW coach controlled the action early, showcasing his true wrestling skills. Hutton locked on the abdominal stretch, but Mascaras hip tossed Hutton off to break the hold. “The Man of 1,000 Masks” came back, but accidentally knocked down Tommy Gilbert with a dropkick. Mascaras and Hutton continued their battle, while Frank Morrell came in to replace him. Hutton locked on the abdominal stretch again and held it on for over a minute. Just when it looked like he was down, Mascaras reached the ropes. The luchador was bleeding through his mask after some forearm smashes. Hutton threw Mascaras with a side salto, then rolled over into a cover and scored the pinfall, after a great match. Hutton offered his hand to Mascaras afterwards and the luchador shook as the Municipal Auditorium applauded. ****½ 6) The Killer Bees defeated Cousin Luke and Virgil. These two teams had another great bout after their **** opener last month that ended in a double DQ. Luke and Virgil looked like they would gain the victory, using the Hillbilly Drop and the Million Dollar Dream on B. Brian Blair and “Jumping” Jim Brunzell in the early part of the bout. The Bees busted out the masks and pulled off their switch routine, with Blair coming in and the two blasting Virgil with a double atomic drop for a nearfall. Brunzell would later use his partner’s specialty—the sleeper on Luke. Luke’s arm dropped twice, but stayed up the third time. Brunzell dragged the woozy hillbilly into his corner, tagged out to Blair, and The Bees “switched” again, this time passing Luke off to Blair’s sleeper! Blair’s version was able to finally put Luke down and give The Bees the win, prior to the upcoming shot at the World Tag Team titles. **** 7) Rikidozan scored a submission victory over Justin Credible. The two slugged it out for the first few minutes. But the Japanese superstar locked the former Texas champ in a Boston Crab. The crowd popped big at this, having seen the footage on USWA Championship Wrestling of Rikidozan making King Kong Bundy submit to this hold on the last card in the six-man tag match. Credible also surrendered to the hold, tapping out almost immediately. DUD 8) Fresh off their win over The Road Warriors, “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Bruiser Brody scored another huge win, this time over the World Tag Team champions The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy in a non-title bout. Brody put a pounding on the Superstar in the first half of the bout, scoring nearfalls on him after a twisting vertical suplex, his patented jumping knee drop, a running leg drop, and a piledriver. Bundy and Snuka went at it later on, with the big man putting a pounding on the Fijian grappler. But out of nowhere, Snuka lept over him and came back with a huge chop knocking Bundy down. Bobby “The Brain” Heenan jumped on the apron and Snuka charged him, but Heenan wisely dove out of the way of a chop! Brody hit the knee drop again, but this time on Bundy, but the New Jersey giant was too close to the ropes. Brody whipped the big man into the ropes and showcased his agility by nailing Bundy with a big dropkick. Brody went for a cover, while Snuka kept superstar at bay, and the popular duo picked up a huge win over the champs! ***½ 9) Frank Gotch and Dan “The Beast” Severn got a win over Southern Heavyweight champion The Sheik and Sabu. Sheik seemed to realize that he was a wanted man by the Team RPW members, as he stayed on the apron for most of this match and let his nephew do the dirty work. Sheik would come in when it was obvious that his team had the advantage. With Severn down, Sabu brought in a chair and went for the triple jump moonsault. But Severn rolled out of the way and Sabu crashed hard. “The Beast” locked him in a bow and arrow, but Sheik came in and blasted Severn with a chop to the throat. Severn beat on Sabu for a few more minutes, wiping the mat with the Bombay madman. He tagged out to Gotch who beat on Sabu as well, applying the rolling knee bar, and then turning it into the Gotch Toehold. Sabu fought hard, but ultimately tapped to the hold. *** 10) As reported on in the last update, Nick Bockwinkel became the first man to hold the USWA World Heavyweight championship on three occasions, as he made short work of Antonio Inoki. Despite an arm injury from Mil Mascaras, Bock was focused here, using everything in his arsenal to wear down the champ. Inoki had control at times, but couldn’t keep Bockwinkel down for a pinfall. Bock locked on the figure-four, but the champ rolled through, reversing the pressure. Yet, Bockwinkel quickly rolled out of the hold. Bockwinkel applied his version of the sleeper. Inoki fought for over a minute, but started to weaken. Jerry Calhoun check Inoki’s arm and it fell three times. Bobby Heenan jumped in the ring right after the bell, celebrating his man’s victory. The other members of the Heenan Family came down to congratulate Bockwinkel, although the Nashville crowd wasn’t too happy to see Bockwinkel on top of the USWA world again! ¼* Coming later…the preview for Card #148. And the main event is announced for the big 150th card on Thanksgiving night! Nick Bockwinkel will defend the USWA World Heavyweight championship. But who will be his challenger?

I agree with KB, great card!
I like the name "Dastardly" Danny Doring.
I've actually thought about calling him "Dangerous" Danny Doring whenever I debut him full time in my fed.
Looking forward to card #148 and also to card #150 on Thanksgiving.

Thanks, Kevin and Vegas!
Highlights from USWA Championship Wrestling on November 3: • The main event for the big 150th card on Thanksgiving night at the Louisville Gardens was announced. Three-time and current USWA World Heavyweight champion Nick Bockwinkel will put his gold on the line against…the undefeated Rikidozan! The Japanese superstar has built an impressive streak of wins against some great USWA competition and will receive his first opportunity at USWA gold. Bockwinkel and Rikidozan met a few weeks ago in the six-man tag team bout and at one point, it looked like Rikidozan might have had Bock beaten with a piledriver, but Bobby Heenan intervened. Will a new champion be crowned on Thanksgiving night or will the Japanese superstar’s unbeaten streak come to an end? • Bill Apter traveled to Louisville to interview Ed “Strangler” Lewis. Lewis said he is feeling fine after his attack by Nick Bockwinkel. He said he is training and rehabbing his neck and wants to return to the ring on Thanksgiving night in his hometown. The former USWA champion said he accepts Bockwinkel’s challenge for a one-on-one match, but first he wants to take on “The Big O.” Bob Orton, Sr. on the 150th card. Lewis said he realizes that Orton has beaten him on more than one occasion and he’s not questioning Orton’s abilities, but he wants one more match with him before he fights Bockwinkel. Lewis has asked that neither Bobby Heenan nor any other Heenan Family members be allowed at ringside during the bout. “Strangler” stated he wants to prove one-on-one who is the tougher man. Later in the show, “The Brain” and Orton appeared in the WMC-TV studios and accepted Lewis’ challenge, so a second match for the big card has been signed. • The week before the Thanksgiving event on November 16, Frank Gotch will challenge the evil Sheik for the USWA Southern Heavyweight championship at Freedom Hall in Johnson City, TN! Gotch made the challenge, wanting a chance to beat the man who captured the title from him in April. Gotch hopes to join the ranks of fellow Team RPW members Richard Hutton and Dan Severn as the only USWA wrestlers to pin The Sheik or make him submit.
The USWA comes back to the Rupp Arena in Lexington on November 9! • “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Bruiser Brody hope to keep up their awesome wins, as they battle former World Tag Team champions The Midnight Express in a rematch from last month. Snuka and Brody will get a shot at the World Tag Team titles in the near future, but they want to avenge their loss to “Beautiful” Bobby and “Loverboy” Dennis before that. But Jim Cornette’s men are hoping for another shot at the gold as well. Which team will walk out the victors? • In a wild bout, Dan “The Beast” Severn will take on the homicidal, suicidal, genocidal, death-defying Sabu! Each man holds a victory over the other in one-on-one bouts, but neither win was by pinfall or submission. Will a clean victory be obtained here? • In another bout in this wild group feud, Richard Hutton fresh off his great victory over Mil Mascaras will take on the Southern Heavyweight champion The Sheik in a non-title bout. Hutton holds two victories in tag bouts over The Sheik and would love to get a singles win over the Syrian madman. Will the Team RPW coach achieve it or will Sheik find another way to win? • The main event will be for the USWA World Tag Team titles, as The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy will defend the belts against The Killer Bees. B. Brian Blair and “Jumping” Jim Brunzell have not lost a bout by pin or submission since returning to the USWA this year. This will be a big challenge for them—in more ways than one as the Heenan Family duo definitely has the size and strength advantage. But don’t count The Bees out, as they have quickness on their side. Plus they’ve had a lot of success pulling off their Masked Confusion as of late. Will new champs be crowned or will Bundy and Superstar sting the Bees? All this plus Giant Baba, Texas champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, The Road Warriors, and the debut of the newest Team RPW member--Danny Hodge!

NEWS FLASH DOUBLE MAIN EVENT FOR JOHNSON CITY In addition to the previously mentioned Southern title match on November 16 between The Sheik and Frank Gotch, a second match has been designated as a main event for that night. World Heavyweight champion Nick Bockwinkel will take on "The Man of 1,000 Masks" Mil Mascaras in an Alley Fight Match! For newer USWA fans, the rules for this match are there are no disqualifications or countouts, once a man has been pinned or submits, the referee administers a ten-count. If the wrestler cannot get to his feet, his opponent wins. Otherwise the bout continues. There can be multiple falls in this type of a match. Many are questioning the champion's thought process here in taking such a match less than a week before he puts his title on the line against Rikidozan. Bobby "The Brain" Heenan stated this is not about the belt, as this will be a non-title match, but Bockwinkel is looking to settle his feud with the luchador once and for all. Bockwinkel pointed out that he thrives in matches like this, that are designed to go for a longer period of time. He believes that Mascaras high flying style will wear him out quickly and put him down for the count. What a great card coming to Freedom Hall!

November 9, 2007 Card #148: Rupp Arena in Lexington
1) Bob Orton, Sr. quickly squashed S.D. Jones. It took only about a minute for “The Big O.” to score the pinfall after a piledriver. DUD
2) The Road Warriors beat Cousin Luke and Virgil. Virgil was the one taking most of the punishment here. The Legion of Doom attempted a Doomsday Device on him early on, but the hillbilly jumped in to stop the attempt. But the former World Tag Team champions would successfully nail the bodyguard with the move later on and score the pinfall. A victory like this could get Hawk and Animal attention when it comes to get another title shot. *¼
3) Former NWA World Jr. Heavyweight champion Danny Hodge made his USWA debut with a quick impressive victory over “Dastardly” Danny Doring. While not being the biggest wrestler Hodge is known for his incredible grip strength. He showcased that by catching Doring in a sleeper out of nowhere. The grip quickly put Doring out and gave Hodge the victory. Team RPW coach Dick Hutton was proud to see his fellow Oklahoman win, even if they attend different universities! DUD
4) “Playboy” Buddy Rose got a win over Red Bastien. These two wrestlers were with the USWA at its inception in 2004. They even battled in the opener at the first New Year’s Knockout, with Red emerging victorious via submission. He looked like he might repeat here, as he attacked Rose with his high flying onslaught early on. But Rose battled back. Bastien would kick out of a Bombs Away, but a gut wrench backbreaker out of nowhere would earn Rose a much needed victory. “Sensational” Sherri Martel was definitely happy to see her man get a win. **
5) Texas champion Greg Valentine pinned Bastien’s Flying Redheads partner Billy Red Lyons. Lyons showcased his aerial skills, but it would “The Hammer’s” hard-hitting offense that would prevail. Valentine scored the pinfall after a neckbreaker. Valentine has won his last nine matches, dating back to August, which is an impressive streak in the always competitive USWA. ¾*
6) “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Bruiser Brody defeated The Midnight Express by DQ. Snuka and Brody showed they are an impressive team, working over the former champs. Snuka hit a Superfly Leap on “Beautiful” Bobby Eaton, but Eaton just got his shoulder up. Brody came in and knocked Eaton into the corner with a big clothesline. “Loverboy” Dennis Condrey tried to enter the ring, but Paul Morton warned him. Meanwhile, Jim Cornette handed Eaton a small chain. Eaton wrapped the chain around his right hand and delivered one of his famous rights to Brody. Brody dropped to the mat. “Beautiful” Bobby went for the cover. Morton had seen the punch and as he started to make the count noticed the chain. He realized what had happened and despite protests from The Midnights and Cornette immediately called for the bell, giving Snuka and Brody the win. Snuka jumped in and knocked Eaton to the floor with a chop. Brody recovered and nailed condrey with a big boot. The Midnights fled to the locker room with Cornette and Justin Credible. Even though they achieved victory, you can bet Snuka and Brody will want to meet up with Eaton and Condrey again. **¼
7) Dan Severn defeated Sabu…and not surprisingly it was by a disqualification. The Bombay madman pounced on “The Beast” from the opening bell. He hit an Arabian facebuster, while Abdullah Farouk distracted Tommy Gilbert. When a chair didn’t finish Severn, Sabu took a page out of his uncle’s playbook and pulled out a sharp object. He started pounding away on Severn with it, but hadn’t learned from The Sheik how to be sneaky, as Gilbert caught him and immediately called for the bell. Dick Hutton jumped in, but was knocked down. Severn recovered and nailed Sabu with some knee strikes. Sabu quickly retreated from the ring. DUD
8) Justin Credible scored a big upset, but with some illegal tactics, over Giant Baba. Baba and Jim Cornette have an on again/off again rivalry, and it was on again here. Credible used a short piledriver for a nearfall early on. With Baba on the floor, Cornette decided to whack the big man on the back with the tennis racket, while Credible had Paul Morton distracted in the ring. Baba made it back in, but this time it was Justin’s turn to use a weapon as he cracked Baba across the back with the Singapore cane, while Cornette provided the distraction. Baba would kick out of the pin attempt and make a comeback, fueled by anger. Baba tried to suplex Credible, but his back was hurting him. With Cornette again giving a distraction, Credible blocked the suplex and hit Baba with a low blow. He then rolled the big man up with a school boy. Morton turned around and counted the pinfall, not catching the foul like he did in The Midnight Express’ match. The Rupp Arena was not happy about this one! ***¼
9) Dick Hutton got a victory over Southern Heavyweight champion The Sheik…but as the theme for this card seemed to be, it was a DQ victory. Sheik charged the first man to beat him at the bell, but Hutton fought back, pounding Sheik with big forearm uppercuts. Hutton locked in the abdominal stretch, which drew a big pop from the Rupp Arena, knowing that it was that hold that defeated Sheik. Abdullah Farouk jumped on the apron to distract Tommy Gilbert. Hutton let go of the hold and went after Farouk, which allowed Sheik the chance to take over. He locked on the Camel Clutch, but Hutton made the ropes. Sheik went nuts and started choking Hutton. Gilbert started giving Sheik a five-count to break, but the Southern champ didn’t care. He did release the choke, but then blasted Gilbert with a chop to the throat! Gilbert immediately called for the bell, but Sheik didn’t care. He proceeded to choke Hutton again. The other three Team RPW members, including Frank Gotch—Sheik’s next challenger, ran down to ringside and ran the champ and Farouk off. **½
10) The main event was for the USWA World Tag Team titles as champions The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy defended against The Killer Bees, who had yet to lose a tag bout by pin or submission, since returning to the USWA this year. The Heenan Family duo controlled most of the action here, using their power against B. Brian Blair and “Jumping” Jim Brunzell. Brunzell kicked out of Superstar’s spinning neckbreaker early on, but got squashed with Bundy’s Avalanche. Right before the five-count, Blair jumped in and dropkicked Bundy to break up the pin. The Bees had the crowd behind them and had their moments, but couldn’t keep the champs down long enough to get a pin attempt. Blair survived the Cobra Hold. Superstar whipped Blair into the corner, then tagged in Bundy, and the champs performed a double team move they’ve done in the past—Superstar whipped Bundy into the corner, so Bundy had an “added” Avalanche. Superstar then followed up and splashed the “pile” as well. Blair dropped like a rock, but wisely rolled out of the ring. Superstar attacked Brunzell in the corner, while Bundy went after Blair. He picked the Bee up in a bear hug, then followed up by ramming Blair’s back into the ringpost. Bundy got back in the ring, while Paul Morton continued to count Blair out. Morton reached ten and awarded the champs the match. Bundy and Superstar won the bout and kept their titles. The Bees still haven’t been pinned or submitted, but went through a tough battle here. **
In the next report...the preview for the big Johnson City card. And more matches announced for Thanksgiving night!

Great card Cory, fantastic. Lots of DQs in the Bluegrass state but still a very solid card never the less. Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy rule but they're looking at a defense against a very hot Snuka and Brody. Keep 'em coming bro.................

More big matches have been announced for the 150th card spectacular at the Louisville Gardens!• Due to their three wild singles bouts, Dan “The Beast” Severn will take on the homicidal, suicidal, genocidal, death-defying Sabu in a No-Disqualification Match! Severn hopes to get another shot at Sabu’s uncle The Sheik and the Southern Heavyweight title, but will go after the Bombay madman first. • Jim Cornette’s trio of The Midnight Express and Justin Credible will take on “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka, Bruiser Brody, and Giant Baba in a huge six-man tag team contest! Baba has joined forces with Snuka and Brody to go after the Singapore cane swinging Credible, who scored a cheap upset on him. It has been announced that Brody and Snuka will receive a shot at the World Tag Team titles in December, but they still want to get a decisive win over “Beautiful” Bobby and “Loverboy” Dennis. • In a special attraction, former USWA Southern Heavyweight champion Killer Kowalski will return to battle his current rival, the wild Yukon Eric! These two big men started feuding in the IWA in Canada, when Kowalski tore off Eric’s ear with a Bombs Away during a match! They have battled all the over world and will bring their heated feud to the USWA. Capt. Lou Albano announced that he will be in the corner for Kowalski, whom he used to manage here. • Speaking of the Captain, his new tag team The Killer Bees (not to be confused with B. Brian Blair and “Jumping” Jim Brunzell) will debut on Thanksgiving night. Lance Russell tried to get Albano to give more details as to who his team members are, but the rubber banded manager wouldn’t budge. Albano hinted however, that the duo may show up unexpectedly.
Before the big Thanksgiving night card, another huge card will come to Freedom Hall in Johnson City, TN on November 16! • In a rematch from last week and a prelude to the six-man contest on Thanksgiving night, “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Bruiser Brody will take on The Midnight Express. This feud has heated up, now that Snuka and Brody are scheduled for the next Tag Team title shot in a USWA ring. Plus “Beautiful” Bobby’ use of a chain didn’t make Brody too happy! Which tag team will walk away victorious? • In another tag team battle, Team RPW members Dick Hutton and Dan “The Beast” Severn will take on the unexpected team of Sabu and Justin Credible. Abdullah Farouk made a deal with Jim Cornette for his bodyguard to team with the daredevil Sabu for one night, even though the two men were wrestling each other a few weeks ago in Dallas. Cornette said that if Credible can chop down a giant (Baba), he can slay “The Beast”. Credible didn’t have too much to say about the arrangement. Can he and Sabu work together or will Team RPW outwrestle the brawlers? • Texas champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine will take on former rival “Jumping” Jim Brunzell. Remember, Valentine was partially responsible for The Killer Bees’ departure from the USWA last year. Plus, Capt. Lou Albano hopes “The Hammer” will wear down Brunzell before The Killer Bees (his version) make their debut. Will Valentine gain another victory in his impressive winning streak? • Two tag teams will do battle as the World Tag Team champions The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy collide with former champs The Road Warriors. The Legion of Doom were the first duo to pin the Heenan Family team, but Animal lost his cool and got DQ’d in their title opportunity last month. Superstar and Bundy certainly aren’t backing down, taking on Hawk and Animal before defending against Brody and Snuka next month. Who will win this battle of behemoth teams? • In the first half of the double main event, The Sheik will put his Southern Heavyweight title on the line against former champ Frank Gotch. Gotch wants to end The Sheik’s evilness and win the gold for Team RPW. Can he do it or will Sheik’s sadistic ways reign supreme? • In the second main event, World Heavyweight champion Nick Bockwinkel will take on “The Man of 1,000 Masks” Mil Mascaras in an Alley Fight Match! This will be a non-title match and for the champ it is more about the revenge, as Mascaras gave him a concussion this year, as well as injured his arm. But don’t count the luchador out as he’d loved to get a win over the champ, especially in a match that many experts feel is a specialty for him. Who will win what will surely be a grueling bout? All this plus Rikidozan in action before his shot at the World Heavyweight title, Danny Hodge, “The Big O.” Bob Orton, Sr. and more bouts!
This is my first post on this thread from my laptop. I love wireless!

A historic card and we’re not even to Thanksgiving night yet!
November 16, 2007 Card #149: Freedom Hall in Johnson City, TN
1) “Dastardly” Danny Doring and Cousin Luke won the opener against The Flying Redheads. While these two teams have had somewhat of a rivalry, there was even more on the line as the winners would receive a shot at the AWA World Tag Team champions on Thanksgiving night, as part of a special exchange between the AWA and the USWA. (More on that later.) This was a back-and-forth bout, as The Redheads had the early advantage, but the bizarre duo of Doring and Luke gave them a fight. Both Doring and Red Bastien wore the crimson masks in this one, with Red seeing red after getting clocked with Luke’s “lucky” horseshoe on the floor, while Doring distracted Frank Morrell. The Hillbilly would tag in and slam Bastien with his Hillbilly Drop and pick up the big win to earn the shot at the AWA titles. ****½
2) “The Big O.” Bob Orton, Sr. pinned B. Brian Blair. The Killer Bee looked very impressive against the elder Orton, getting several nearfalls on him. But when climbing up the ropes, Orton fell against the ropes and crotched Blair. He worked over Blair for a couple of minutes, before hitting the piledriver for the victory. Orton looks focused on his bout with Ed “Strangler” Lewis. **¾
3) Danny Hodge picked up another quick win over Virgil. The Team RPW member applied a sleeper in the opening minute, but Virgil quickly reached the ropes, knowing that the hold put down his associate Danny Doring last week. Virgil dropped to his knees after being released from the hold and Hodge immediately took advantage, nailing his famous Oklahoma side roll. The pinning combination put Virgil down for the three-count. DUD
4) Despite not really liking each other, Sabu and Justin Credible worked together to score a big win over Team RPW members Dick Hutton and Dan Severn. Credible used the Singapore cane early on, on Hutton, while Jim Cornette distracted Tommy Marlin, but couldn’t keep Hutton down. Hutton and Severn were focused and pounded on Sabu, getting several nearfalls on him and busting him open after one of “The Beast’s” fireman’s carry slams. Sabu tagged out to Credible, who took some punishment as well, but eventually gained the advantage on Severn. Sabu came back in and hit an Arabian moonsault (basically a sunset flip/power bomb combination to the floor) on Severn. It looked like that would bring a countout victory, but with Hutton’s help and encouragement Severn climbed in just before the count of 10. Still “The Beast” was weakened. Sabu applied the Camel Clutch, but Severn wouldn’t give. He released the hold and then took a chair from Abdullah Farouk. Sabu hit the triple jump moonsault, although barely hit Severn, overshooting him. Still Severn was weakened from the Arabian moonsault and it was enough to put him down for the pin. Right after the bell, Credible jumped in the ring and cracked Hutton again with the cane. Sabu then grabbed the table that Lance Russell and Dave Brown were sitting at and brought it into the ring. Credible held Severn on the table, while Sabu set up the chair again and hit another triple jump moonsault, breaking the table! It also broke Severn’s ribs. Farouk handed Cornette a large amount of bills while he laughed with delight. Frank Gotch and Danny Hodge came down to check on their fallen teammates, while the rulebreakers made their way to the locker room. ***¼
5) It took a few minutes to clean up the wreckage from Sabu and Credible, but once a new table was brought out for the announcers, the next bout was on! “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka and Bruiser Brody got a pinfall win over The Midnight Express, in a remarkable comeback. “Beautiful” Bobby and “Loverboy” Dennis worked on the “Superfly” early on, double teaming him with their specialties, like the Double Goozle and Condrey suplexing Snuka onto Eaton’s knee. “Superfly” was busted open by “Loverboy” Dennis’ face-first leg sweep. Brody tagged in and nailed Eaton with a jumping knee drop, but Jim Cornette distracted Tommy Marlin. The Midnights double teamed Brody, until Snuka tagged back in. Eaton surprised him quickly with a small package, but they were close to the corner, so Brody booted Eaton to break up the pin attempt. Eaton pulled out a small chain, which seems to have become a staple for him, and punched “Superfly” with it, causing the blood to flow even more. Marlin checked Snuka’s cut and was close to stopping the match, but Snuka continued to fight back. Snuka dove and made the “hot tag” to Brody, which rocked Freedom Hall. Brody went to town on both Midnights. He hit a second knee drop on “Beautiful” Bobby, but “Loverboy” Dennis made the save. Snuka, drenched in blood, came in and nailed Condrey with a big flying head butt, taking both wrestlers to the floor. Brody slammed Eaton with one hand, then delivered a third knee drop. He made the cover and got the three-count, in a great comeback and a great win before Snuka and Brody challenge for the tag team gold. ****½
6) Rikidozan scored an impressive victory before he challenges for the USWA World Heavyweight championship, dominating and destroying “Playboy” Buddy Rose. The Japanese superstar busted Rose open with several chops and forearm shots. After several hiplocks, Rikidozan scored the pinfall. ¼*
7) Greg Valentine’s nine-match winning streak came to an end, thanks to “Jumping” Jim Brunzell…well, sort of! “The Hammer” came out strong against Brunzell, applying the figure-four leglock on four occasions. But to the Bee’s credit, he was able to reach the ropes or break free. Brunzell rolled to the arena floor for a breather. Meanwhile, B. Brian Blair, recovered from his earlier match, came down to encourage his partner. While the Texas champion was arguing with Frank Morrell, Blair put on his Bee mask, then grabbed his partner’s mask and had him put it on as well. He rolled Brunzell under the ring, then hopped into the ring. Blair held his leg, pretending to be Brunzell, who had been in the figure-four. As Valentine went to attack him, Blair jumped up and applied his sleeperhold. “The Hammer” made the ropes, but Blair kept up his attack. He applied the sleeper several more times, until Valentine finally went out. The crowd popped big at what they had seen. Capt. Lou Albano realized what had happened and tried to protest to Morrell. When the official wouldn’t listen, Albano waved towards the locker room. Suddenly Brutus Beefcake and Buff Bagwell came running down and jumped Blair. They pulled off the Bee mask, revealing that it was Blair, then nailed Morrell with a double clothesline. Bagwell went to the floor, pulled Brunzell from under the ring, then threw him into the ring. He and Beefcake double teamed The Bees, stomping on Brunzell’s leg. Beefcake woke up his former Dream Team partner Valentine and it became a three-on-two attack. Once the damage was done, Albano went over to Lance Russell, who asked the Captain if this was his new team. Albano responded, “That’s right, daddy! This is Brutus Beefcake and Buff Bagwell—The Killer B’s! Not like the insects, but the letter ‘B’!” The four men returned to the locker room, as Freedom Hall pelted them with boos! ****
8) The Road Warriors made short work of the World Tag Team champions The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy. The Heenan Family duo, who was once undefeated and dominant, seem to be feeling the pressure of being tag champs, as they’ve dropped some non-title matches recently. The Legion of Doom were focused on getting another shot. They kept Superstar in the ring the whole match. They hit Superstar with the Doomsday Device, but Bobby Heenan distracted Jerry Calhoun. The Warriors hit Superstar with a double clothesline, which took him up and over the ropes to the floor. The masked man was almost counted out, but just got back in the ring. The Warriors hit another Doomsday Device. Animal went and knocked Bundy off the apron to ensure no interference, while Paul Ellering locked “The Brain” in a full nelson to keep him from interfering. Hawk covered Superstar and got the pin. ¼*
I’ll post the double main event results in a little while. What a great card!

9) In the first of two main events, The Sheik put the Southern Heavyweight title on the line against Frank Gotch. Back in April, Sheik defeated Gotch in Knoxville for his first Southern title. Despite many tag team and singles bouts, Gotch had yet to score a pin or submission win over The Sheik. He was looking to join the ranks of fellow Team RPW members Dick Hutton and Dan Severn as the only USWA wrestlers to have beaten The Sheik, as well as capture his second Southern title.
It was the champion starting strong against the challenger, pummeling him and working the forehead, applying the Camel Clutch, but unable to get the submission. Sheik went to the second rope for a knee drop, but missed and hit hard. Gotch focused his attack on the knee for the remainder of the bout, applying the rolling knee bar, as well as the Gotch Toehold several times, but Sheik managed to hang on. Both men ended up bleeding, but the champion was in greater danger. Gotch applied a crossface and barred the arm, but Abdullah Farouk distracted Tommy Marlin. Gotch went for the toehold again. Farouk got up on the ring apron a second time. Dick Hutton went after Farouk, trying to pull him down. But instead Gotch released the hold and nailed Farouk with a big forearm smash sending him flying! He locked on the knee bar again. Sheik fought for the ropes for over two minutes, before taping out! Gotch finally achieved victory and captured his second Southern Heavyweight championship! Hutton jumped in the ring to congratulate Gotch. Danny Hodge joined them as well. Dan Severn had been taken to the hospital, but was happy to find out later that his teammate had beaten their hated rival. *****
10) After an intermission, in which the ring crew cleaned Sheik’s blood off the mat, the second main event began. World Heavyweight champion Nick Bockwinkel took on Mil Mascaras in a non-title Alley Fight Match. Bockwinkel was looking to avenge two injuries suffered thanks to Mascaras, while the luchador was hoping to score a victory over the champ, even if the title was not at stake. The rules again were that after a pinfall or submission was scored, referee Jerry Calhoun would administer a 10-count. If a wrestler could not answer the count, his opponent would be declared the victor.
The first fall was actually very long and grueling, as both wrestlers were busted open during the first fall. Bockwinkel used his sleeper a few times, but mainly focused on Mascaras’ legs, slamming them into the ringpost and applying the figure-four leglock on several occasions. Mascaras would utilize both his crossbody attack and flying body press to wear down Bockwinkel and try and gain victory. Bockwinkel scored a submission in the first fall, as well as in the second and third falls. Mascaras’ leg was hurt, but he managed to get to his feet and continue each time. It looked like Bockwinkel was on his way to a sure victory, but “The Man of 1,000 Masks” was not done. Despite the injured leg, Mascaras climbed the ropes and hit a beautiful flying body press to get a three-count. Bockwinkel wasn’t too hurt and got to his feet. The champ came back and began to beat on the luchador. Bobby Heenan gave him a steel chair, which was totally legal in this bout. Bockwinkel brought the chair into the ring, but Mascaras thought on his feet and executed a big dropkick, kicking the chair right into Bockwinkel’s face! He covered the champion and scored a pinfall. Fans were delighted to see Bock get a taste of his own medicine. Bockwinkel was knocked woozy, but still answered the bell. Mascaras hit a crossbody attack in the next fall, the same move that gave Bockwinkel a concussion earlier this year. It put Bock down for the fall, but he answered the bell again. Mascaras would utilize a submission hold—the octopus to get a win. But again, Bockwinkel got to his feet. Mascaras scored another pinfall with the crossbody attack. Bockwinkel was coated in blood, but still held in there. Mascaras hit a sunset flip, but Bobby Heenan jumped in the ring to break up the pin attempt. “The Brain” quickly jumped back out to escape an onslaught from Mascaras. Mascaras applied the octopus again, but Heenan again jumped in and nailed Mascaras in the back. The luchador shook it off and nailed “The Brain” with a big dropkick, sending the manager out of the ring and to the floor. Mascaras whipped Bockwinkel into the ropes and came back at him with another crossbody attack. He pinned Bockwinkel again. Calhoun put the count on Bockwinkel, who lay covered in blood. Bockwinkel could not get to his feet and Mascaras was declared the winner! The other Heenan Family members came down to ringside, to check on their manager, but also on Bockwinkel who had to be helped to the back. It was not revealed what injuries, if any, Bockwinkel suffered, but he didn’t look good at all. And he has to defend the title against Rikidozan in six days! *****

AWA-USWA TALENT EXCHANGE The USWA has announced a one-time exchange with the AWA (American Wrestling Association). The AWA World Tag Team champions Johnny and Greg Valentine will defend on the USWA’s 150th card on Thanksgiving night at the Louisville Gardens against the USWA team of Danny Doring and Cousin Luke. USWA fans are very familiar with the Valentines. Greg has been splitting time between the USWA, where he is the Texas champion, and the AWA. His father Johnny was the inaugural USWA World Heavyweight champion and held the USWA Tag Team titles with his son. The Valentines were undefeated in the USWA in 2004. Johnny appeared at the WMC-TV studios on November 17 with Greg. Capt. Lou Albano stated that “his” men would easily beat Doring and Luke. Johnny didn’t seem too thrilled by that statement, but his son intervened and said that this is a one-time appearance for his father in the USWA. In exchange, the USWA World Tag Team titles will be on the line on November 23 on an AWA card at the St. Paul Civic Center, when champions The Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy defend against former USWA and AWA champions The Road Warriors. Hawk and Animal, much like Greg Valentine, have wrestled in AWA when not scheduled on USWA cards and are very well-known to the local fans. Bobby “The Brain” Heenan stated that he is disappointed that he cannot attend the AWA card, where he used to manage, but he will be busy managing USWA World Heavyweight champion Nick Bockwinkel as well as Bob Orton, Sr. the night before in Louisville. At this point, there are no future plans for exchanges between the USWA and the AWA. Check back in a while for the full line-up for Thanksgiving night!

Actually, the Road Warriors have not held the AWA tag team championship in my fed's history. Who knows what the future may hold though.
I can imagine that Johnny Valentine wouldn't be thrilled with Capt. Lou. He's not fond of the AWA managers, esepcially Jim Cornette!

Here is the full line-up for the huge 150th USWA card on November 22, Thanksgiving night, at the Louisville Gardens!
• The newest Team RPW member Danny Hodge will tangle with S.D. Jones. Hodge has won his first two matches in quick time. Although his win-loss record isn’t the greatest “Special Delivery” can put up a fight against any opponent! • The Sheik will go one-on-one with Virgil. You can bet The Sheik will be fired up after losing the Southern Heavyweight title and poor Virgil has to do battle with him! • Know we know that Capt. Lou Albano’s new team is The Killer B’s—Brutus Beefcake and Buff Bagwell! The B’s will debut against the formidable duo of The Flying Redheads. Beefcake has competed in the USWA in the past, teaming with Greg Valentine as The Dream Team. Bagwell was embarrassed in his only USWA match in 2005, when he was eliminated first in the Battle Royal at New Year’s Knockout II, to determine the inaugural USWA Texas champion. Ironically Bagwell was thrown out by B. Brian Blair! The B’s could be an tough team, but can they get by the exciting Redheads? • In a special attraction, former Southern Heavyweight champion Killer Kowalski returns to take on his hated rival the wild Yukon Eric. Eric has been in Louisville all week making public appearances and performing any wild antics that the fans have dared him to do. Kowalski will have one possible advantage, as his former manager in the USWA Capt. Lou Albano will accompany him to the ring for this bout. Who will win this battle of the big men? • Antonio Inoki returns to the ring for the first time since losing the USWA World Heavyweight title to Nick Bockwinkel. He’ll take another two-time former champion “Playboy” Buddy Rose. This will be the first time the two former champs have met in the ring and both are looking for a victory to get back in the title hunt. • A big six-man tag team bout will take place as “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka, Bruiser Brody, and Giant Baba will take on The Midnight Express and Justin Credible! Manager Jim Cornette claims his men will come out on top, because they have more experience as a unit, and Cornette will have the “hometown advantage” in Louisville. How will the fans react to the “Louisville Slugger”? Past appearances for Cornette haven’t proven to be favorable! • In another special attraction as part of the previously mentioned talent exchange, USWA Texas champion Greg “The Hammer” Valentine teams with his father Johnny to defend the World Tag Team titles of the AWA against “Dastardly” Danny Doring and Cousin Luke. The Valentines are a rough and ready team. Doring and Luke hold upsets in the USWA, but usually due to illegal tactics. Can the unorthodox duo upset the Valentines and shock the world? • Dan “The Beast” Severn was scheduled to do battle with his rival Sabu in a No-Disqualification Match, but after last week in Johnson City, Severn is questionable after suffering broken ribs. Team RPW has made no public statement either way as to whether or not Severn will appear. As an interesting note, neither Southern Heavyweight champion Frank Gotch nor “coach” Dick Hutton is scheduled to compete on this card. As always, card is subject to change, so stay tuned! • A big grudge match will take place as Louisville’s own Ed “Strangler” Lewis returns from a neck injury to battle “The Big O.” Bob Orton, Sr. Lewis wants to get one more match with Orton before he takes on Nick Bockwinkel. Remember, no Heenan Family members are allowed at ringside for this bout. (Masked Superstar and King Kong Bundy for sure will not be there, as they will be in Minnesota for the World Tag Team title defense the following night.) Can former champ Lewis get the win? • The main event will be for the USWA World Heavyweight championship. Three-time and current title holder Nick Bockwinkel will put the belt on the line against the 11-0 Rikidozan! USWA fans have been clamoring for this bout. But the champion’s physical status is in question after his loss to Mil Mascaras in the Alley Fight Match. Bobby “The Brain” Heenan wouldn’t give any details on Bockwinkel’s condition, but said his man is ready to fight and put an end to Rikidozan’s “15 minutes of fame”. The usual eloquent and boastful Bockwinkel was quiet during the interview. He had several bruises and stitches on his face from the bout with Mascaras. Will his third reign turn out to be a quick one or will the champ pull off a miraculous victory?
That’s Thanksgiving night at the Louisville Gardens! Enjoy the big meal with your family, then head on out to the Gardens for this historical wrestling event!

Actually, the Road Warriors have not held the AWA tag team championship in my fed's history. Who knows what the future may hold though. My bad, brother! Perhaps they'll win USWA gold on AWA turf.
