MMA/COTG Betting Fantasy League A few people have asked me about doing this privately...so if there's enough interest we can get this thing rolling just before UFC 74.
The Fantasy MMA Betting League Tour The system uses live lines that are set by a combo of Sportsbook.com, BetOnFighting.com and Bodog.com. You get $200 in virtual money to spend per event split in any way you want with the odds dictating payouts. The system keeps score. To make it interesting...if at the end of the season (July 2008) anyone comes in first place (no ties) I'll buy them any three CotG game sets of their choosing. If I win I'll buy the second place winner any one game edition of their choice. If anyone else wants to donate to build up the prize pool (strictly voluntary) the more the merrier. If you have been a contributor to this MMA Forum and are interested in joining just register at the site and then hit me up with a PM and I'll send you the league password.

I should make a Briscoe Jiu-Jitsu shirt and have something about springboard moves on it. I train MMA with an emphasis on brazilian jiu-jitsu. Our team is solid and do well around Texas/Oklahoma.

Here are some general rules to help out with strategy. You can 'lock in' odds well before an event. I see Tank Abott at +270 for CFFC 6 - Heavy Hands in late September. Even UFC 77 is on the table. Chose wisely if you see what looks like a bargain. General Rules
In order to continue playing the game should you lose all your money, you are allowed to reload your bank balance at any time. This will clear your betting history and give you a new balance of $200. You will receive an R by your name in the league table and the reload will be noted in your profile. Obviously the point of this is to do it when you have a very low balance. Do it as a last resort only!
To avoid abuse of the reload system, we are releasing some specific rules relating to it.
The penalties for reloading are as follows
* First reload - used as a tie breaker when prizes are issued. If the two top people have a final balance of $1574, the one with no reloads will finish higher in the table.
* Second reload - will count as minus $100 when prize winnings are being calculated. Your league table position and balance will be displayed as normal, however $100 will be deducted when prizes are handed out. E.g. someone with a balance of $510 and no reloads will receive a prize ahead of someone with a balance of $600 and 2 reloads.
* Third reload - As above but a further $150 is deducted from the prize calculations.
* Fourth reload - As above but a further $200 is deducted from the prize calculations.
If you lose all your money after 4 reloads, that's it. Game over.

I must crush you.
I'm surprised they don't have some of the lower card matches listed. I think that is where I'd kick a$$.

This could get me reading into the MMA sites again. I used to look through Sherdog during my spare time but just stopped doing it a while back. Anyway, this should be interesting.

It all comes down to the action with-in the Sportsbooks that the system uses to calculate the odds. Remember the lines are an average of Sportsbook.com, BetOnFighting.com and Bodog.com. If only one book has odds up at this time then the average is on hold. The marque matches (the three covered) already have activity and calculable odds to build a working average...yet that too will fluctuate. As we get closer to the event and more of the books take action...look for more of the undercard to show up.

Here's an important rules clarification on how the scoring system deals with drug failure controversies....
If A Winning Fighter Fails His Drug Test After The Fight...
If a fighter wins in Nevada...then fails his drug test per the Nevada State Athletic Comission...the scoring system will _REVERSE_ the result and award the victory (and purse) to the other fighter (and those who bet on him)
If a fighter wins in California...then fails his drug test per the California State Athletic Comission...the victory and accompanying purse will stand. This is because the CSAC does not have the power to overturn a decision after the fact.
If a fight takes place in another state or outside the US...it will all depend upon the relationship the sanctioning athletic commission has established with the UFC
