I think it's safe to say that, if the Cubs do take the division, they'll be out in the first round. If they find themselves paired against, say, the Diamondbacks, they're screwed.

I think it's safe to say that you smoke crack in a dark closet at night. ;D The Cubs have the personnel to match up with any team in the league. They've got a quality starting rotation, and it's not at all inconceivable that their four guys could be the guys to get hot and ride through the playoffs. That's all it takes. Once they're in, if they're in, I believe they've got the same chance that anyone else does. If last year taught us anything, Aquinas, it should be that.

That is unless they face the Phillies then its over We know what happens then right? Phillies score 6-7 runs a game and still lose thanks to their bullpen

In all seriousness, there is not one unflawed team in the NL.....the Mets are listing badly....the Cubs are limping to the finish line (if they make it)....the Diamondbacks are looking good but haven't won it yet....the Padres seriously are blowing their finale.
If a team like the Rockies makes it in as the wild card, at least they'd be a team with momentum and make some noise.

The NL is wide open... really ANYONE could be the team that gets to lose in the world series to the winner of the inevitable Sox-Yankees series.
Right now, I'd say IF Colorado or Philly make the playoffs, they'd be the teams I'd want to avoid...they're both just too hot.
The Cubs, if they hang on, could really end up with any one of the other six teams vying for the other 4 spots... depending on what division the WC comes from.

I just want to collectively wring the necks of the Brew Crew if they fail to take the division. Here we go again -- the Cubs ARE choking. Don't let them trip into the playoffs!

The Magic Number is two, there are three games left, and life is good. Too bad your Brewers don't want to get into the playoffs, eh guys?
GO CUBS!

Your Cubs obviously don't want to get in either....but I can't argue that the Crew apparently doesn't.
The Central sucks. Cardinal Suckitude has infiltrated all the teams.

What do you mean that the Cubs don't want in? They won 8 out of 10 recently to get up to a three-game lead, and now they're coasting. They want to win, they've just done all of the hard work already. They're pacing themselves.

That's a good try, BDS, but you don't coast before you've clinched... ask the Mets.

Exactly....the Cubs have already begun their letdown/crash....it's just the Brewers, with losers like Turnbow leading the way and "Clueless" Yost, didn't take advantage.
The Cubs get eliminated by whomever they face in the first round. Bank on it.
