I gotta agree wtih BDS.. the Sox and Yankees are the show as far as ESPN is concerned... Probably because that's where the majority of their viewers live... you can't blame them for that. IT could also be that they've accounted for most of the drama and success in baseball in the last, say 10 years. I remember marvelling at how long it took them to hop on the Rockies bandwagon last year. I think the Cubs do get SOME love, but that in general, the AL gets more coverage than the NL,and of that the majority is Sox-Yankees. Wildfire, how dare you throw your support behind the Cubs fan! ESPN is biased toward the New York Yankees. Why? Because they're the greatest heels in baseball. ESPN is also biased toward the Boston Red Sox. Well, everyone knows that Peter Gammons, Buster Olney, and Bill Simmons are all Sox fans, so why not? I'll give you that, but the Cubs still get more coverage than they deserve: their every personnel move is watched, the status of Mark Prior and Kerry Wood have been on the top of the newswire for years, and whenevever the team struggles sports columnists all over America try to figure out what they can do to fix the club. You don't see the Colorado Rockies or the Arizona Diamondbacks getting that kind of love. Name me a single NL ballclub besides the New York Mets who get anywhere close to the attention that the Chicago Cubs do. You won't find one. So quit your yapping, or start following the league that matters.

You can all say what you want GO CARDS! (I guess I will get hate for this one) Get the hell out of this thread. Go hang out with Havoc or something. ;D Havoc does seem like a nice fellow. I agree on a lot of his thoughts. So thanks for the suggestion

All the announcers were Card supporters and well the production staff wasn't and it was weird. Then again the Sox winning was more exciting and I guess that's what they were aiming for. So whatever to them all.

ESPN is in it for the ratings.. they're not trying to be fair and unbiased.. you gotta keep that in mind.
@ Chewey: ESPN used to like the Sox (and all Boston teams) when they were the plucy underdogs, now that they're all good they don't like them as much.. it's not as good copy anyway

I'm not defending the erstwhile Brewers. Sadly, I cannot. All I'm saying is that you put yourself through this over and over again. Last year. The Bartman Year. When will you learn that the Cubs are a doomed, cursed franchise who will NEVER win the World Series. Never. I believe I told you at the start of the season that the chance of the Rays winning a WS is greater than the Cubs....and even that's already starting to shape up Rays FTW I just wanted to bump this late May post of mine. 1) The Rays are whupping the Cubs. 2) If the Rays keep their Cinderella story going, they may turn me into a prophet by indeed winning a World Series before the Cubs do. I'd put money on the Rays sooner than the Cubs

I can't wait to see how this year's Cubs find a way to go down in flames. As good as a Cubs/Sox World Series would be for the city as a whole, I think it'd give me an ulcer. Until the Sox won, then I'd be buggin BDS until the end of time.

So who's going to be the one to stop the Cubs this year? The Dodgers or the Brewers? (I have very little confidence in the D'backs or any team in the NL East right now).

The answer to your question is the Cubs. They always find a way to stop themselves.
Dodgers are my alternate pick.

I was telling Aquinas the other day that while the Cubs are known as a team that tends to self-destruct, so are the Brewers, Mets, and Phillies. Between the four of them, SOMEbody has to not self-destruct, right?
So maybe the Dodgers will be the one after all, following this logic.

Congratulations to Carlos Zambrano and the Cubs for getting a no-hitter against the Astros tonight. Too bad they're still not going to win the World Series this year!
