Hooray for being back in first because the Brewers got CRUSHED by the Pirates. Life is good!

Lets take a realistic look at the NL Central for a minute. The Brewers have four series left this year: 3 at Houston, 4 at Atlanta, 3 vs. St. Louis, and 4 vs. San Diego. They've also go no more days to rest, either. The Cubs have 3-game series left vs. Cincy, vs. Pittsburgh, at Florida, and then at Cincy. They've also got two days off in there, and they're only going to have to pitch their fifth starter one more time this year. If the Cubs play .500 ball the rest of the season (against teams with a combined winning percentage of .445, mind you), they'll finish up at 84-78. To force a playoff, the Brewers would have to go 8-6 in their 14 games. Looking at the fact that they've got to face Oswalt in Houston, they're a horrible road team, and that the Padres will probably still be playing for something, I'm not sure they can pull that one off. I'm feeling pretty good right now.

Yeah, after rolling up St. Louis the Cubs are looking good, Milwaukee definately is at the disadvantage schedule wise

The best thing I can say about the Brewers right now is that the offense appears to be clicking again. Fielder is on fire, and going to destroy the Brewer single season HR record now that he just broke it. Hardy is getting hot again....and if unexpected guys like Gross and Weeks keep getting on base like they are.....this offense will keep churning out runs. And that doesn't even factor the Rookie of the Year, Ryan Braun into it....
Pitching scares me. They need Sheets to essentially be flawless the rest of the way. Suppan needs to stop acting like a Cardinal and get reliable (last night helped).....the relief staff -- Turnbow and Linebrink in particular -- is shaky to say the least.
No one will convince me that the Cubs are more talented from top to bottom than the Brewers.....I think the difference between them right now, frankly, is that the Cubs have a winner like Lou Pinella running the show, and the Brewers having Ned Yost, who over-manages and doesn't have a good grasp. I'm sick of Yost, and have no faith in him.
With that said, I think the Brewers can power their way over inconsistent pitching and tough it out.

Here's what I'm predicting from here on out: Brewers go 2-1 at Houston, losing the game Oswalt pitches. Brewers go 2-2 at Atlanta Brewers go 2-1 against St. Louis Brewers go 2-2 against San Diego Cubs go 2-1 against Cincy Cubs sweep Pittsburgh Cubs go 2-1 at Florida Cubs go 1-2 at Cincy I've got the final records at 86-76 for the Cubbies and 84-78 for the Brewers. But the Cubs are only losing the second game against Cincy because it won't matter.

Living in a world where the Cubs can be down by 2 in the ninth and I don't have to panic is pretty cool.
Go, Cubs, Go!

Talk to me tomorrow after Oswalt blanks you, Aquinas. Or after your boys choke in Atlanta.
None of this worries me in the slightest. Everything is right on schedule.

A withered attack. I can sense your doubt all the way from here. Choking is losing to the Reds. Talk to me tomorrow after Oswalt blanks you, Aquinas. Or after your boys choke in Atlanta. None of this worries me in the slightest. Everything is right on schedule.

I hate to tell ya BDS, but Havoc is correct.. JuanGuiterrez is listed as the Probable for the Astros... making his 2nd career start.
From CBS Sportsline:
Interim manager Cecil Cooper said Roy Oswalt will be bumped from his Wednesday starting spot this week due to the pending birth of his second child. He will fly home to Weir, Miss., on Monday and his wife, Nicole. Oswalt is expected back with the team Friday and tentatively will start Saturday's game in St. Louis. "He wouldn't be in any shape to pitch Wednesday," Cooper said. "We'll bump him and hopefully by the weekend in St. Louis he'll be ready."

What a p***y. Flying home to be with his wife and impending baby. Absurd.
No matter. The Crew still loses today. I remain unconcerned about this.

"Evacuate? In our moment of triumph? I think you overestimate their chances".....then BOOM The Chicago Death Star's doomed.
