It was especially nice to see Manny hit two homers, I think

I'm thinking Wily Mo is going to be playing in Pittsburgh next week, and Damaso Marte's .089 opponent's batting average against left-handed hitters this season will spell the end of Javier Lopez.

hmm, just thinking out loud again... would you include Manny Delcarmen as part of a trade for a big bat, or is he too valuable to the bullpen right now?

Yay for beating up on the Devil Rays! Was the Fossum that pitched for Tampa Bay the same one that was a middle reliever for Boston back in the 90's. If so, he's gotta be in his 50's! He probably remembers pitching to Babe Ruth!

What a rough night at work! Seeing Boston leading. Then a tie game, then scoring 6 runs in the 12th inning! Should never have let Tampa tie things up though. Too bad Lester couldn't make it two in a row. Do I need to mention that Boston is the best in the majors?

He's OK, but as he was heading out to the field to start the bottom of the Fifth Inning, Coco Crisp just hit by the Mariner Moose driving an ATV.

That damn Mariner Moose! I hope he's banned for life! This isn't even the first time the Mariner Moose has had an accident. One time at the Kingdome he drove himself straight into a wall. Hopefully the Mariner Moose isn't drinking and driving.

Despite the attempted vehicular homicide by the Mariner Moose on Coco Crisp, the Red Sox win big! 68-43! I know somewhere in China, Chewey is smiling big. But could somebody please slow down the Yankees!

Here are some comments by the Boston Red Sox that I found about Coco Crisp getting hit by the ATV driven by the Mariner Moose:
J.D.Drew- "How many times a day do you have to go out there and check for traffic?" Drew asked. "Coming out of the dugout, you have to look left and look right? I mean, it's not like you're crossing the highway or jaywalking or anything."
manager Terry Francona-"I've got enough to think about," Francona barked at the thought of worrying about The Moose's drive time. "Whether to play a left-hander or a right-hander, let alone a guy on motorcycle, or whatever the hell he is."

August 18, and the lead is 5 games. 74-49, your favorite team sucks.

Funny, The Cardinals are actually only 4 games out, while the Yankees are still 5, but no one thinks they'll make the playoffs... I'm just sayin

Thank you White Sox for dropping the doubleheader today! I think that puts the Red Sox at 5-1 for the season series.

Congratulations to Paul Konerko for preventing the shutout today! For the series, the Red Sox have outscored the White Sox 35-6! Don't worry, White Sox fans, Tavarez is starting tomorrow so you'll at least get one win in.

Important numbers from this weekend....
46-7: The total number of runs for the Red Sox vs. the total number of runs for the White Sox during the weekend series.
80-51: Boston's record, best in the majors.
7 1/2: The lead Boston now has on the Yankees. Oh wait, wasn't Boston supposed to be giving up the AL East to New York?

You know what's awesome.. the 'elimination number' for the Yankees is LOWER than the Pirates.. and yet there are still people out there that say they can win the division...
