You know what's awesome.. the 'elimination number' for the Yankees is LOWER than the Pirates.. and yet there are still people out there that say they can win the division... Things like this just make my day. Go Sox!

Wow, get woken up by what I think were gunshots, come online and see this awesome, awesome news. Congratulations, Mr. Bucholz. An amusing side note....when the Sox brought him up a couple weeks ago, Bucholz was told that he'd be going back to the minors, even if he threw a no-hitter. Ooops!

Haha and Francona said after the game "Well there's no going back to the minors now" Awesome story! With one glaring exception, this year has been full of awesome stories! (Verlander and Bucholz's no hitter, Rick Ankiel., Jake Peavy being amazing, the Cardinals being a total joke, like 30 awesome rookies, Prince Fielder's coming out, A-Rod shutting up the haters.) edit: (Michael Barrett getting punched out by ZAMBRANO then getting shipped off to the Padres haha, the Brewers shooting themselves in the foot by trading away the future of their pitching staff for a DONE Padres middle reliever)

Nothing like a series against the Orioles to help soothe being swept by the Yankees. Let's hope things continue well and that Seattle gets things together and keeps the Yankees and Tigers out of that wild card spot.

Taken the first two of three from Toronto and Schilling's pitching tomorrow. Could be a sweep! Man, this Jacoby Ellsbury kid is looking great, 2 HR in 30 AB with the Sox after having only 2 HR this season down in the minors. Getting some great help from the young guys.
Now if only someone could knock the Yankees out of the wild card spot, doesn't look like the Tigers or Mariners can do it. Damn.

Just in case anyone wasn't paying attention....87-57, best record in the majors. Beckett gets win number 18 and Coco Crisp gets the GWRBI. Need to do well against the Devil Rays and get that momentum going for the Yankees next weekend. I hope Chewey is keeping up with things over in China.

Thank goodness for David Ortiz! Why oh why are the Red Sox having to come from behind to beat Tampa Bay!?!?

Been a rough few weeks for the Sox and the Yankees are red hot right now. This final week of the season will be tough to watch. Congrats to Beckett for becoming the only 20 game winner in the majors and to the Sox for being the first to clinch a playoff spot.

Thank you to Baltimore for beating the Yankees tonight and giving Boston the AL East title! I know this makes Chewey double proud. Still, the Yankees are still looking good but Boston won't have to face them in the first round thankfully. But it was nice to come home from work and find out the good news! Go Sox!

Yeah, apparently with all the uproar about the "great" NL end to the season, it's been forgotten that the Red Sox ended the season with the best record and they just blanked the Angels 4-0 tonight. Let's hope that Dice-K and Schilling paid attention to how Mr. Beckett pitched tonight.

And now not only are the Sox up 2-0 on the Angels, but the Indians are 2 up on the Yankees. Loving the post season! National League, prepare to be stomped in the series!
