Strong win by Beckett last night. Hopefully Tavarez can keep up his mean streak. Even when he was sucking as the #5 starter, his stuff was still nasty.
Wildfire, a little glitch... I'd still rather see Beckett-Okajima-Papelbon, but Wakey in long relief is still a big plus.

No. Jeremy Bonderman will go. And rightfully so.

No. Jeremy Bonderman will go. And rightfully so. OKAJIMA is going to the game... valiant effort though... I knew I couldn't make that big a stink of it while the ballot was in process, or ten of you guys would have voted a hundred times a piece and given Bonderman an extra 1,000 votes...

Won last series that was held in Boston? Check. Best record in the majors? Check. Voted Okajima in over Bonderman? Check.
Detroit sweeps Boston this past weekend? About damn time they got a break, if you ask me. We've been whupping them in everything else to the point where it was getting boring!

Great way to rebound from the end of the 1st half sweep and the All Star break. And beat Roy Halladay too. Still the best in the majors!

Tomorrow Jon Lester makes his first appearance in almost a year for the Red Sox since being diagnosed with cancer. He is replacing Julian Tavarez in the rotation.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Lester can do in this comeback. Obviously it's a feel-good story for all, after what he's been through. However, his strikeout numbers have been down, and he has lost a little velocity on his fastball.
Still, Kason Gabbard has been holding the fort like a trooper, but he can't do it all by himself. How long before Curt gets back, and will he come back in shape this time?

Congratulations to Jon Lester in making his first start in almost a year since defeating lymphoma and getting the win today in Boston's victory over Cleveland!

Whooo hoo! First team to get 60 wins! Great to see Lester come back so tough. Hopefully this helps end the July swoon the Sox were going through.

no, the Red Sox traditionally go through the June Swoon, right at the start of the NBA Finals. Everyone in Boston knows that. Just that in Boston this year, June lasted a little bit longer than it normally does. But hopefully it's over now.

1-0 victory. Matsuzaka over Sabathia. I'll bet that was a hell of a game to see! And thanks to the White Sox, Boston is once again best in the majors. And yes, Chewey, I know it's usually June when they swoon. It's the whole rhyming thing.

I really hate playing the Indians right now. The way the Yankees are playing, of course they're going to pick up wins against Kansas City...
So what it means is that if we lose, the Yankees pick up another game on us... but if we win, the Yankees move closer to the wildcard (they're only 4.5 games back)
Things *really* suck right now...

I am glad the Boston Red Sox won today (I had $20 on them at the sportsbook ).

After two 1-0 games, it was nice to see tonight's AL style slugfest. Especially when your team's the one who scored the most runs. And congrats on having good sense, Vegas.

and the Yankees lost, so they didn't make up any ground in the wildcard race from Boston's victory either. win-win, all-around...
