Wondering how many fight cards would be realistic to do in a year?
Also, how many PPV do you do in a year?
Thanks

Hey Sharpshooter, this question comes up alot, as I think many of us have struggled with it in the past.
I personally like playing lots of cards per year. In 2087 I started up my restart fed with a tv show and a house show every week, and a ppv every other month.
When all was said and done, i had 110 cards for the year! At the end of the year I decided that it was a bit too much. I want to have lots of shows per year, to get a feel for the guys and get the most out of every game year. At the same time, I didn't want to spend 8 months playing out one game year!
Therefore, starting in 2088 (and in my 2119 new beginning fed) I'm running 1 tv show a week and 12 ppv's a year. This gives me 64 shows a year. That's still ALOT compared to most people I see on here.
I think you might have to experiment and see what works for you. I like taking my time and playing out lots of cards. Some people play very few cards in a year. Others don't pick a set number. They just play until they are ready to move on.
Hope this rambling helps in some way, and good luck with your fed!

Like everything else I do, I just do what I want, when I feel like doing it...
it's a lot more fun this way...
I used to try to play by a "calender" and it would just screw me if I had other things in my life taking away my COTG time...
I keep saying my last card of 2120 is coming, and I'm going to take a break...but who knows...I'll just go with the flow and do what I want...
try it out...it's great.

I think it depends what kind of cards you have, adn what point in GWF history you're at.
Early on (with 24 wrestlers or for EC from 20-30) I've been doing 24 cards per game year, with just about everyone on each card (so, 8-9 matches per card) I feel like this gives me plenty of time to explore each game year fully without things dragging. Later, as the roster expands, more cards are needed to do the same things.
Personally, I like the realize of using dates, but I can see the appeal of playing it by ear and just going until you're ready for the next set (which I have done on previous restarts)
I think it really depends if you''re more interested in moving though the sets and watching history unfold or if you more interested in fully exploring each year before moving on to the next.

I used to run 2 shows a week plus an end of the month PPV. Unfortunately 108 shows per "year" were too much. So I scaled it back to 1 a week plus a PPV.
I guess you could play it by ear but I prefer to try and formulate a plan. It seems the WWE has been using the "play by ear" strategy for a while now. You see how that has worked out ;D Thankfully Swarm and the other guys on these forums that do that are better writers!!

I just got into the year 2088 the book with Bishop Hell,Spike ,and The Animen. I play a card on sundays most of the time.I call my cards Titan Clash. My next Titan Clash will be Titan Clash 7.I too have had a problem with when to move on to the next book.It was suggested to me by GWFfan Trav to play 10 cards plus a ppv each month example Jan 10 cards plus a ppv Feb 10 cards plus a ppv.I'm gonna try it this way. I hope this helps you as it has helped me.

I play 2 televised cards each game month for a total of 24 televised cards per game year. Four or five of those 24 cards are PPVs. This formula works for me because I started playing 2074 early in 2005 with the intention of working all the way up to the current COTG editions. This way I ensure that I spend an equitable time on each game edition and each card is momentous and dynamic. This system has still enabled me to develop a rich history as I progress through the COTG game years. I'm currently in August of 2097.

I run around 20-25 cards per GWF year. That includes 5 pay-per-views.
I try to keep it somewhat consistent so my records don't get distorted.

I ran 100 cards per year for 2088 and 2089 when I was really into the game. Problem was that when you run that many cards, you have to stray a lot from Tom's storylines to keep it from getting repetitive. A lot of people don't have problems with that. But then when 2090 came, I found that I had already played out many of the feuds and storylines involving the older wrestlers, and this kind of burned me out a little.
Now I find that Tom's 20-25 cards per year to be a good number to allow all of the feuds to properly develop.
I also agree with Swarm that if I were ever caught up to date, I would just keep playing however many cards I felt like before the next new edition came out.

24 cards per game year.
Jan....2 regular shows Feb....1 reg show, 1 PPV Mar....2 regular shows Apr....1 reg show, 1 PPV
I'm playing Classics years, so 3 cards is plenty of time for me to build up to a PPV considering the fact that I don't have that many wrestlers for much of a variation.

New Beginnings I have one televised card a week with one Supercard a month, and three bonus cards (comes out to 67 total broadcasted cards). I'm also now having house shows, which adds additional cards.
Early Classics, I have one televised card a month, with one of those cards being a Supercard for a total of only twelve broadcasted cards. I plan on increasing this incrementally as the years progress. I also hold two house shows a month.
In my Legends fed, I subscribe to the Swarm school of thought. I run whatever feels right, so there is no set number. ;D
Peace.

I'm one of those people who just changes things on the fly. Usually, I run four shows a month which equals about 48 shows a year. However, near the end of the year I often just skip my small shows and do big ones to get further along, since I'm in 2100 and own up to 2108.
By the end of the year, nothing much is going to change I find, so I just...skip it.

Similar to Tom...I run around 20-25 cards per GWF year. That includes a pay-per-view every 5 cards.

In my New Beginnings fed I do a live show every week and a PPV every other month. December I cut off the last two weeks as the wrestlers are on vacation and the weekly show is a clip job one week and the end of the year awards and press conferences for the next year is the second week.

I use the 64-card model that a few people have talked about already in this thread.

It depends on what I'm running. If it's aCe or GWF Classic, I run a schedule something like Ring of Honor - two or three shows a month, no real PPV's. If it's GWF New Beginning, I run it like the WWE - one show every week, one PPV per month.
