I think he realizes the possibility of things like this happening. Sometimes you screw with the wrong person and get what you have coming.
Regardless, he's a genius and the Borat movie is incredible.

The world would be a better place if people got punched in the face more often?
Right. There's some arcane caveman logic for ya. Look, Cohen is a brilliant comedian and there was no reason for this man to punch him in the face. That's reactionary and the man should have seriously restrained himself.

In the unnamed man's defense: It happened in New york...Although he meant no harm, Cohen probably should have considered that before stepping into his routine...I know there are things that I say in the company of friends that other people would have me drawn and quartered for, but it's all in fun...
Let's just say, I wouldn't quote the Iron Sheik on the streets of New York... ;D

That's no excuse to punch another person. That's the reaction of a ten-year-old schoolyard bully.

No, this is true...The unnamed attacker in question could have spewed all the hateful (possibly) racist vulgarities he chose and it would have been more acceptable than hitting the guy...Cohen was probably prepared for a verbal assault, the physical one was out of line...
I'm finding it curious that i can't find any mention of the guy that him...

That's no excuse to punch another person. That's the reaction of a ten-year-old schoolyard bully. not true. it's a proven fact that punching someone in the face shuts them up. try it sometime. I have a hard time believing if some stranger walked up to you on the streets of New York, got in your face, and was acting like a fool, you wouldn't respond physically... that's why this country is so screwed up sometimes...kids are a**holes because instead of getting their a** handed to them by their parents when they fuck up, they get a "time out", or get their cell phone taken away or some crap like that. there are way too many pu**ies in this world, and way too many people running around like tools, like Borat, who need to be punched in the face. like I said, he got what he had coming to him.

I have to agree with Swarm on this one! When I was growing up (some say that I still haven't as i act foolish and display my crude humor more often than being mature), I messed up...I got punished and not a time out...I see kids these days show their backside and all their parents names or refuse to do something unless they get such and such...not in my household, my kids act that way they get different punisment...like crash and burns (they squat in the corner on their heels and not allowed to touch the wall or floors or they add time...) but I have only switched to spankings on my oldest like four times in his life (1) he put a basketball in my 42 inch TV) 2) he called my wife the "b" word 3) he purposely rammed his scooter into my 10 year old's heel misses the ahilles by a millimeter and caused 8 stitches 4) Stealing something from a store that I frequented and was on a personal basis with the staff and then lied about it...can't stand thieves... I haven't seen Borat's movie but from my understanding he continously berates those of the Jewish faith...and all probability, the assailant was probably Jewish... Plus, someone shouts their mouth off...gets his a$$ handed to him...he doesn't talk smack for awhile...that's life...

Here's one for you. We had a local high school football coach who was fired from his position. You want to know what his crime was?
He yelled at the players. Yep. That's right. The team was getting smacked 53-0. Some of the players decided to quit during the fourth quarter. Some of them took their pads off and one even went into the stands and sat with some friends. So the coach yelled at them and told them to get their butts (yes butts) back to the sideline and get their gear back on.
Some parents complained and the school board fired him from his job.

Here's a good story...
in 8th grade I was hanging out with a girl who's burnout boyfriend was serving a suspension for having pot in his locker...
well this dude found out I had been hanging with her, and cornered me with 4 of his buddies after school one day by the dead end...
all of them beat the [censored] out of me, even going as far as to beat me with my own back-pack (which, is hilarious, I know...), and of course I brought home my 25lb. English book home with me that day (not every GWFfan here is going to get that for obvious reasons...)
so a couple years go by and this guy would [censored] with me a lot now and then...
well then I got bigger, stronger and one day at a friends house, destroyed the kid. he even maced me and I still beat his a**.
his buddy tried to marker me during senior week, and I broke his nose on the spot.
the 3rd kid I ended up becoming friends with...
the fourth kid I had kneeling down in front of me, in a parking lot, crying, begging me not to fight him, years later at a bar i bounced at.
yeah, none of those guys ever bothered me again.
a lot of people like to talk, thinking that the day will never come when their faced with repercussions, and when they are, they either get punched in the face, or cry like the the little b*tches they are.
those are the facts.

He'd walk by and slap me in the back of the head -- he'd try to trip me -- one time he took a paper I needed out of my backpack and ripped it up. I had tried to be kind and ask him to stop but he wouldn't -- so one day when he was doing it I punched him hard in the chest -- he got the wind knocked out of him and went down on his knees to catch his breath but he didn't mess with me again. In a perfect world you could resolve all problems by talking but sometimes you have to teach them a lesson by other means.

If Cohen had actually attacked the guy, these three stories would have been analogous.
Being an annoying smartass does not equate to physical assault requiring self-defense. (And while what Swarm did was not strictly "self-defense," I can understand his response.)
In any case, it certainly isn't going to "shut him up" for long--he went through plenty just in filming the movie. I'm sure the only regret Cohen has about the situation is that there wasn't a camera to film it.

If Cohen had actually attacked the guy, these two stories would have been analogous. Being an annoying smartass does not equate to physical assault requiring self-defense. That's exactly what my friend was being -- I was never under physical assault. No amount of talking to him would make him stop -- I didn't want to hit him but he wouldn't get out of my face. I did him a favor by punching him and teaching him that people will eventually lose their cool the more he keeps intentionally pushing their buttons -- one of the lessons that life teaches and doesn't apologize for. I don't apologize for it either and would do it again if I was pushed far enough. If Sacha Cohen's only regret is that there's no camera -- that just proves he's a complete idiot who's willing to take a beating for the attention it gives him. If that's his outlook -- I can't understand why anyone would feel any compassion for him.
