Ohhh I forgot bout Salem's Lot.......When I was a kid, my sister and I watched it one night....I was maybe 11 and she was 10...man we couldn't sleep that night..that part when that boys friend was hovering outside the window saying "let me in Billy". He almost did it, and the Vamp kept scratching on his window and saying let me in!!! Scary stuff when your 11. We both started looking at our friends different after that night!

Saw the 30 scariest this year. Wasn't as impressed. Seemed to have a bit mre filler in it. Dead ALive did make the cut this time, so did Army of Darkness (which I guess was left out last time because it's part of the Evil Dead series). Lot of recent stuff in there this time around. Makes me wonder what would have made it into "Another 100 Scariest Moments" show instead of just 30. Yeah, my wife even said that 30 added scariest wasn't as great. Hostel number one!?!??! Okayyyyyyy,,,,right

I think Evil Dead was the first movie to freak me an my friends out. Had to stop watching it halfway through (it was the middle of the night). Had to walk him to his car that night (yeah, we were like Juniors in hgh school, get over it). First and only movie to actually give me bad nightmares was Pihrana. Don't ask me why, I think I was ten or something. We fished a lot back then so you can imagine why it took me a few years to rewatch that one.

Dawn of the Dead (the original) is my favorite horror movie of all time, but the only movies to ever scare me were The Blair Witch Project and Event Horizon (AWESOME movie)

Actually, I take back what I said about Creepshow. There's one movie that will scare the pants off me no matter how many times I watch it... Deliverance. Bah-dum-bum.

Hell yes.
In no particular order:
THE EXORCIST (Hands down the most frightening movie ever made)
THE EXORCIST III (AKA Legion. A very underrated sequel.)
NIGHT, DAWN, AND DAY OF THE DEAD (I like zombies. Romero is the man. We've talked about this already. Next.)
PET SEMETARY (The most effective Stephen King horror adaptation.)
THE SHINING (More Kubrick's vision than King's...Dick Halloran's explanation of things that "shine" is awesomely chilling.)
THE GATE (A childhood favorite. I always wanted a pet 'Minion' after seeing this one.)
LORD OF ILLUSIONS (A tad dated, but still bada$s.)
NIGHTBREED (Clive Barker is a twisted dude.)
THE BLOB (The seriously rad remake. I'm not kidding. The remake is rad. Seriously.)
PSYCHO (Classic. 'Nuff said.)
CREEPSHOW (You're not alone Ashby. Who doesn't enjoy seeing a murderous Leslie Neilson getting done in by Ted Danson-zombie?)
EVIL DEAD (Low budget at it's f'n finest.)
POLTERGEIST (three words: respect Zelda Rubenstein.)
EVENT HORIZON (Looks like all of us appreciate this beaut.)
ALIEN (Only the first one was true horror...and probably the best sci-fi horror flick ever made.)
THE THING (Carpenter's version - good call Werner.)
BRAM STOKER'S DRACULA (Great movie all around....Oldman is a beast.)
THE DEVIL'S REJECTS (Realistic stuff always gets me...and the soundtrack rocks. Funny, I hated House of 1,000 Corpses.)
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (The original...when Freddy hadnt gotten 'cute' yet.)
DEAD ALIVE (Peter Jackson + Zombies = A Gory Good Time!)
FEAST (A recent addition. Couldn't ask for a smarter script.)

Just watched one last night called "Undead". It's Australian and a little tongue in cheek. Rented it because it invoked the name of Dead Alive and I thought "well, it's a dollar, let's see if it can stand behind it's write up". It was worth the dollar (I would have paid the full new release price for it so that tells you something right there). The "hero" of the movie reminded me so much of Torgo from Manos the Hands of Fate that it lended to the experience.

Exorcist, Exorcist III, and Rosemary's Baby are the only movies that truly disturbed me...so they hold a special place for me. Rosemary's Baby is the only movie that I've never watched a second time. I also like Dominion and Exorcist: The Beginning. I am a fan of Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead (original, and remake), Dracula (original and remake) are also good, although I like the remake with Gary Oldman a lot more, Evil Dead, The Shining, Jaws (although I don't consider this a horror movie), Halloween...there are so many movies horror movies that I've enjoyed that it's impossible to name them all.
But for my all time, hands down favorite...The Exorcist. This movie was the first one that made it hard for me to sleep at night, and I still occasionally have moments where I remember something from the movie, see Linda Blair's demon possessed face, and get freaked out.
Peace.

THE SHINING (More Kubrick's vision than King's...Dick Halloran's explanation of things that "shine" is awesomely chilling.) The first time I ever saw The Shining, I was at a girlfriend's house as a Freshman in college. We started the movie at 2:30 AM, 'cause that was a good idea, and she was asleep on my lap within 15 minutes. So, I was pinned to the couch, forced to watch the whole thing, and for all intents and purposes. After the movie, I went to leave in the wee, pre-dawn hours of the morning. Of course, it's the dead of winter, my car's been frosted over and I have to spend 15 minutes out in the snow scraping the ice off of it while I wait for Jack to bury an axe in my skull. Good stuff.

I'll toss a few out there...
The Halloween series - I am such a fan of these that I even bought the bootleg Halloween 6 Producer's Cut off of eBay.
Wes Craven's A New Nightmare - The best version of Freddy ever.
The Friday the 13th Series - Not that I like everything about each movie, but all in all, I enjoy the film series.
Saw 1 & 2 - Reinvigorated the horror genre with the most unique villain in years.
George Romero's Dead Series - Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead and Land of the Dead...the quintessential zombie movie experience.
Shaun of the Dead - Not REALLY a horror movie, but a phenomenal film with zombies in it that can make you laugh and cry.
Tom Savini's Night of the Living Dead remake - This is how a remake should be done. HE had his own vision, but still had a tremendous love and respect for the original, and in fact, had George Romero sign on as a producer almost entirely so Romero could regain some of his rights to the original film.
28 Days Later - Forget J-Horror..gimme British horror.
Dog Soldiers - The single best werewolf movie I have ever seen.
Ginger Snaps series - The best werewolf series I have ever seen.
Salvage - The best horror movie I have seen since Saw II, and a sadly overlooked film. Clearly low budget, with a no-name cast, but they all put in realistic performances, and it features one of the most unique twists I have ever seen in a film. Seriously....WATCH THIS MOVIE.

Oh, I almost forgot Wes Craven's Prince of Darkness...the film itself is "okay"...but that ending, for some reason, sends a HUGE chill up my spine every time I watch it.

Night Breed is a solid movie too... plus, David Kroninberg (SP?) is in it!

Chronenberg in Nightbreed was damn creepy. You don't see many villians that creepy and he was the director.... Dog Soldiers was a real good movie too. I don't know if you'd count Brotherhood of the Wolf but I really liked that one (even though the main character was very Triple H-esque... Levesque-esque..... I don't know). Laugh at me but I liked Jason X too.

The Night Flier by Stephen King is a hugely underrated flick.
I think it might've been an HBO original movie, but I rented it one night .... then bought it the next.
Not my favorite per se, but one that any horror fan should check out.

Wes Craven's A New Nightmare - The best version of Freddy ever. I'm ashamed to say I've never seen this one. I'll be renting it shortly (been meaning to do that for years). Saw 1 & 2 - Reinvigorated the horror genre with the most unique villain in years. Funny, I find the character of Jigsaw to be way too similar to Spacey's John Doe from Se7en...at least in his method of killings. Dog Soldiers - The single best werewolf movie I have ever seen. Been looking for a good werewolf flick. Thanks, Tommy. Just purchased this one. I'll let you know what I think when I'm done. ...which reminds me. I forgot a big favorite of mine: AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON - I saw this flick when I was like 8 years old and it scared the SHlT (gotcha ) out of me for about three nights straight. Gotta love that ending too. Salvage - The best horror movie I have seen since Saw II, and a sadly overlooked film. Clearly low budget, with a no-name cast, but they all put in realistic performances, and it features one of the most unique twists I have ever seen in a film. Seriously....WATCH THIS MOVIE. Looks like I'm simply going to have to follow orders here. ~ :-Xsk ps - The Night Flier by Stephen King is a hugely underrated flick. Gonna have to look in to this one too. Thanks, Good-Z.

The original Nosferatu flick from the 20s. The guy they had playing Dracula was really creepy.
