My favorite horror movie is Event Horizon. The part where they finally unscramble that video and watch the orgy of blood in the control room is one of my favorite movie scenes ever.

My 3 personal favorites are:
1. Dawn of the Dead (original) 2. Friday the 13th Part 3 (this was the first slasher movie I ever saw) 3. Aliens (first horror movie I ever saw in the theater)
Those are NOT the 3 horror movie I consider the best, they're just 3 that for various reasons really had an early impact on me.
For this current decade, some of my favorite recent horror movies are Dawn of the Dead (remake), Shaun of the Dead, Joy Ride, and Identity.

For the nostalgia value, and since nobody else will mention it:
Creepshow.

Stream of consciousness:
Night of the Living Dead, Psycho, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, White Zombie. I love the black and white vibe for horror.
Gory movies aren't scary to me, they're funny.

Have to go with Evil Dead 2, but BDS' Event Horizon pick is awesome as I had to sit up with my brother one night after he watched it.(He kept asking me if that is what Hell's like. I guess I should know ) Rahl

I'm a big horror movie guy, just got done watching the Howling on DVD (man, you figure it's the Saturday before Halloween and there would be some horror movies on!! None on any channels)
But I guess I go with Halloween. We fix up my parents house every year (not cheesy, but we go all out). I dress like Michael Myers (I fit the part, being a pretty big guy, so I'm believable).
I'll post some pics of it next week....

Dead Alive's my favorite. Dawn of the Dead original is 2nd. After that it's a big pile of horror movies fighting for third, everything from Friday the 13th movies to 28 Days Later to House of a 1000 Corpses. Also like Shaun of the Dead, Event Horizon, and From Dusk Til Dawn. Creepshow is good too (had Tom Savini in it and you can't beat that). John Carpenter's the Thing is also a favorite.

Did anyone check out the scariest movies this weekend on Bravo. It's a repeat, but it's fun watching it again

Saw the 30 scariest this year. Wasn't as impressed. Seemed to have a bit mre filler in it. Dead ALive did make the cut this time, so did Army of Darkness (which I guess was left out last time because it's part of the Evil Dead series). Lot of recent stuff in there this time around. Makes me wonder what would have made it into "Another 100 Scariest Moments" show instead of just 30.

I'm not much of a slasher/gore fan since most of those movies are pretty much the same. I like a good story and something that sticks with you.
In no real order:
Jaws The Ring The Grudge Psycho The Others Halloween (one of the few slashers I enjoy).
By the way, has anyone seen The Changeling? It was rated one of the scariest movies back in 1980, but neither my fiancee and I even flinched. Man, we must be desensitized!
Take care,
Jay
