Yeah I nearly regretted that decision myself as I was way underprepared.

Reading this thread makes me incredibly jealous. I bought Gameboys pretty much solely for the Pokemon games....and while I had no plan to get a DS, just seeing new Pokemon games out is making me strongly reconsider -- maybe even putting a DS ahead of a 360 for me.
The Pokemon games are flat-out awesome.

A DS purchase is one of the most solid gaming decisions someone can make right now. There's so much quality out there (now... at launch it was a different story) that it would take you forever to catch up.

It's a great system....before Diamond and Pearl my wife and I were big on the brain games. May have to go back to those at some point.

Finally finisher the Sinnoh pokedex and got the national pokedex from Professor Oak at Professor Rowan's lab
To finish the pokedex when you get to 150 you need to see the Celestic Town Elder who will show you something that would complete it
Then you go get the National Pokedex
Also found a new area with stronger pokemon called the Spring Path which is located between Veilstone City and the Lakefront
Extremly strong pokemon with about level 50-65 including
Golduck Golbat Haunter Bronzor and his evolved form
And a new pokemon as well in Giratina who is at level 70 and is very tough

Yeah, that thing's a Ghost/Dragon type and is a pain to catch. I tried and failed once; I probably won't bother again until I've got a trained-up Parasect (Spore + False Swipe FTW; of course, I need to use Foresight so I can hit that guy with False Swipe, but hey).
There are several post-E4 Legendaries available, including one you can only get if you import the three Regis to your DS game.

Yeah......this game is one that definitely doesn't end just because you beat the Elite Four. Really, the game is only beginning.

I will import the Regis when I figure out how to trade between gameboy and DS Once you have the National Dex, go to the Pal Park (surf south of Prof. Rowan's town; first you should show your full Dex to Rowan to see a special guest). Once the Pal Park is active, you can upload up to six pokes per day (per cart) via the DS's built-in GBA slot; this is done from the main menu. Then you just go to the Pal Park and catch them with Park Balls (never fail); bring a Pokemon that knows Surf if you uploaded any water types (and some non-water types that like water, like Lileep/Cradily).

Well, you have the National 'Dex, right?
You've been to the Pal Park, right?
If you've done both of those, then the option should exist on the start-up menu after the title screen.

Female Combees are rare; you just sort of have to get lucky either on GTS or when smearing honey. Munchlax and Heracross are both tree pokemon, I believe; Heracross might also be available in the Great Marsh. I didn't care about either of them, as I have plenty of Heracross to import and can breed a Snorlax to get Munchlax if I really want to.
Gible is in the Wayward Cave, which is underneath Cycling Road. Apparently there's an entrance that can't be seen normally that gives you access to the second floor (you need Strength, Cut, and probably Rock Smash to get there).
Feebas is the same annoying pain to catch as it was in Ruby/Sapphire, showing up only on FOUR random water tiles at about a 50% rate. This time the place to look is the foggy cave section in Mt Coronet. Milotic evolves from Feebas at maximum beauty. It would probably be easier to get one via GTS, honestly; Feebas is actually the pokemon that totally killed any interest I might have had in completing the collection, because its so infuriating to actually find the stupid thing.
Super Rod can be received at the Battle Zone; get on the boat at Snowpoint and there should be a fisherman just to the north of the dock who will give it to you.
Not only is Dive unavailable, but you can't transfer old pokemon who know the move (or any other HM, for that matter). When you finally are able to upload pokemon, you might want to save your game in Lilycove (Emerald) or Fuschia (FireRed/LeafGreen) to have ready access to the Move Deleter.

Also alot of pokemon from the other areas are available around the Battle Tower and its different areas including Weezing,Ferrow,Magcargo,Spearrow,Wailer,Ratatata,Raticate, Gloom,Paras,Bellsprout,Weepingbell,Seel,Dewong,Rhydon ,Illumise,Volbeat ,Numel, Camerupt and many others
Plus most of the trainers have pokemon from other regions so it helps add to your national pokedex
Around that area catching and battling I found over 70 pokemon that I needed for me pokedex
Warning
Most of the wild+Trainers pokemon are over level 50
Suggest you stock up on Quick Balls+Ultra Balls
Also some new pokemon found in the Marsh including Shroomish,Scyther,Carvanha

Yeah, but it's just so much easier to Pal Park the ones you've already caught. I think I've only actually caught like a couple of dozen pokemon in Diamond.
