Figured we'd need a thread for this now that they're out and I know there are several loyal Trainers out there in Filsingerland. Haven't put a lot of time into Diamond yet, just getting the Poketch last night, but I'm sure my Piplup (FEMALE! Who wants eggs when I reach the day care?) and I will be kicking ass soon.
One weird observation, though: I fought a Bidoof last night that hit me with Tackle five times (I caught it); four of those hits were criticals. WTF?

I've had things happen like that for me before on R/S. Of course with a few pokemon now having Strong Luck(multiplies critical hits), you'll probably see it more often. My wife and I do plan on getting them, but we're going to wait a bit while we sort some things out and figure if we're going to make it to G-Con.

This one had Unaware (ignores opponent's start changes) as its ability. I wasn't planning on catching one, but then it went crazy with criticals... I felt kind of ripped off.

Yeah, Murkrow, Absol and Murkrow's new evo Honchkrow are the only Strong Luck guys.

It's been slow-going for me, as I probably won't have the time for a proper head-first dive until the weekend; I just got my first badge last night. Caught an Onix too, which is always fun even if they kinda suck.

Well my wife's pleading for me to buy her Pearl with some of our refund so I guess she'll be looking to make trades soon enough.

And there is a chance to trade/get pokemon from the Game Boy Advance games but its not easy as you must get the National Pokedex to do it and to get that you have to complete the Sinnoh Pokedex

You don't have to catch all them, just see all them.

Can anyone tell me how I can trade pokemon in DS? I am new to DS. Does it use a game link like gameboy advance?

I haven't really played Pokemon since Saphire. It's fun, but nothing really changed since Gold/Silver, with the second set of trainers and Ash. Also, I los that luvin' feeling after getting to nearly the last match in the Battle Tower, but my entire team got crushed by a Weazing.
There's just no coming back from that....
Take care,
Jay

Can anyone tell me how I can trade pokemon in DS? I am new to DS. Does it use a game link like gameboy advance? All DS systems have built-in wireless communications, Jim -- no more wires! Other than that, it's pretty much the same as always: Pokemon Center, top floor, talk to one of the Joys. If you have multiple people wanting to trade, check out the Union Room. As an added bonus, however, you can also trade over the internet if you have access to a WiFi network (either your own or a public hotspot). This can be done both directly and via the Global Trade Station in Jublife City. I just got my 7th badge and am working on the usual "stop evil team" intervention before heading for the 8th.

While on vacation (did you miss me?), I beat the Elite Four -- but I'm not proud of the way I did it. My pokes were all in the low-to-mid 50s, and the Champion's pokes start at like 63 and end around 66, so I was slightly out-gunned; in the end, I resorted to a war of attrition, using Revives and basically just stalling out until she ran out of Full Restores and wore her down via an artificial numbers advantage.
I really wanted to open up the post-E4 quests (and get my National Pokdex), but I'm not going anywhere near the E4 again until I have a properly-leveled team. They will kick your face in.

Yes, you can. Go to Floaroma town...go to the far right and you'll see a small inditation in the trees. There will be a guy who will sell you honey for 100 a pop.

One of the trainers you can encounter has a Wormadam... I think it's around level 25. Check the route between Veilstone and the Resort.
EDIT: Also, you would've seen Drifloon if you had intentionally chosen the wrong answers in Hearthome's gym, as several trainers use it in there.
