I didn't see this PPV (my buddy ordered it but there was a bad snow/ice storm Sunday and there several auto accidents and didn't want to risk the travel), but this booking shows why TNA doesn't get it. First off, no title matches. Well, except the Women's title match, but c'm on. Then the battle royal that really isn't a battle royal to get briefcases where you are granted title shots (except 1 that contains a pink slip) but you don't open them until next week. That is ridiculous. Also, you have Team 3D, who has done nothing but bash the X division guys and beat all their a**es on iMPACT! shows .........and they face X division guys.........and win? ?? They should lose that match. You could even protect them by dominating most of the match but have them miss a big move and a quick cover by the X guys for the win. Hall no shows after a big 2 weeks of build up. I also don't understand why this fed is in love with tag-team, 6-man, and 8-man matches. That's not what sells tickets and PPVs. Russo is easily the worst booker/match - maker ever. There's no hope for this fed. Each week it gets worse and worse.

I'm obviously a bigger fan of TNA than you are, Payback....but I can't argue much of anything in your post.
Guys like the Motor City Machine Guns seem to be getting over, they are young, and have potential....but the tired old Team 3D actually beats them and, basically, bolsters their claim that the X Division sucks? How is that good booking?
Whether it's a work or not, the Hall thing is LAME. As hard as it may be to imagine, there probably were people that ordered this to see the Outsiders reunion....and having Eric Young....Eric Young!....in the main event instead? The one guy on the roster whose schtick is actually worse than putting someone in a chicken suit.
And then that whole briefcase thing. To have a mess of a stipulation like that -- and THEN make people who paid money for a PPV wait for the results on free TV later that week?
I have been enjoying Impact week to week, flaws and all....and think they are getting some things right....and their ratings have been climbing a little bit....but then to have a PPV written in such a way, doesn't give me a lot of hope.
Again, I too didn't actually see it -- I'm commenting on the on-paper results here. Maybe watching it was better, but I doubt it.

I don't think any of you have the right to complain about the PPV if you didn't watch it. Another dead horse that has not received its rightful beating in awhile.

I just said I don't understand the booking. I didn't say it sucked. I even offered ways it could improve. Come up with your own lines. ....and stop following me.

In code it would look like this If(StupidIDea == true) { booker = "vince russo"; } I think you've got that backwards, Squire. We should be testing the booker before assigning the value to $StupidIdea, not the other way around. Unless Vince Russo was responsible for the Robocop angle in WCW that I'm not aware of. Man, now I've got the urge to start drawing Venn diagrams of stupid ideas, Vince Russo, Vinny Mac, Robocop, the Gobbledygooker, and Havoc.

Just checked out the results... when the best match of the night is the women's title match, you're in trouble. Some things I wonder about: Senshi, Petey Williams, BG James, and Scott Steiner got the briefcases... NONE of them are doing much of anything.. why bother? If I had to guess.. Senshi will get the X div. shot, Williams will get fired, BG gets the tag title shot and Steiner the heavyweight shot...anything else to be 'unpredictible will just lead to a pointless PPV match (I could see Senshi getting the Axe, and Williams the X one, but they haven't done anything with Williams in so long...) Why not have someone, well, good get a briefcase? Like AJ, or Daniels say, who could believably have any of the title matches (not sure they were even in the match, but that's not the point) Never mind making people pay for the PPV then not giving them the info for doing so. Agreed Eric Young in the main event, especially with Joe basically saying he could have picked ANYONE in the locker room, is insane. That's basically saying Eric Young is the top face. So, after MONTHS of showing they don't really think Joe is their guy in their booking, they give him major promo time on a PPV, and have him beat three top heels, with Eric Young?? I'm totally mystified. By the report, this definately showcased all that's bad about TNA booking. Swarm's feedback over on the Observer is hilarious, btw, y'all should go read it

Swarm's comments:
Hi Dave hope you had a good holiday and as is well...
What is wrong with me. Why do I watch this crap?
Thumbs way down
Best: Nothing. Not one match was good.
Worst: Everything this show sucked.
This weekend while at Best Buy I saw two old men almost fight fight over flat screen and some kid call his Mom a "ho" for not buying him an Ultimate Bumble Bee Transformer. Those five mintutes had more action and better story telling than this whole show.
Minus 100 stars. Maybe the worst PPV ever.

Ironically, the promo at the end of the PPV seemed to be setting up exactly the kind of storyline that Bazzy suggested.
And while there would be some cool moments where TNA marks would get to hear some of their feelings verbalized on TV, in the end you face the choice of putting over your "homegown talent" at the expense of guys who you are paying big money to and who are potentially your best draws OR you put over the stars and make longtime TNA talent look bad.
The PPV seemed like it was pretty bad...but that's not that surprising. The IMpacts leading up to it were disjointed and really unfocused. TNA sort of peaked with the episode where Kaz met Angle and then didn't do much else the next three weeks.

Joe apparently has heat with some folks backstage now, even though (aside from the fire me comment to Dixie) he did more or less what she'd asked him too namely put heat on Scott Hall and put over contracted TNA talent. Apparently Joe was accused of 'going into business for himself' despite basically cutting the promo Dixie told him too.

Well, I've watched about 8 minutes of TNA in this calendar year, so I can't adjust for context, but in all the brouhaha I found the Joe promo on DailyMotion.
WOOOOOOOORK. All of it.
a.) Look who's booking. b.) The camera conveniently cuts to Nash for a reaction shot every time Joe mentions him. c.) Nash supposedly goes after Joe backstage but does absolutely jack-all while this unscripted promo is going on. d.) Angle and Styles' contrived, pro wrestling-style reactions. e.) "Want to fire me? Go ahead" in wording, tone, and delivery screams of Joe being told, "Insert a line at this point to make people think you're shooting." f.) Why would Joe bother to publicly announce "THIS IS A SHOOT" (which is more or less how he began things) instead of just, you know, shooting? Announcing your intentions gives TNA the chance to cut the mic. g.) TNA DIDN'T cut his mic off when they easily could have.
I can buy that Hall legitimately no-showed, but the rest of it screams Russovision to me--an attempt to make chicken salad out of chicken s***.

Well if it was all a work, why was he made to apologise for it the next day? Can't say that I'd put it past Russo to throw that in there, too. Or it could be a case of Keller getting worked.

I totally agree with Pete. That promo sounds completely worked.
And everything about it, even the supposed apology afterwards, seems like something Russo would do.

Right down to having Nash pieface Joe backstage, starting an altercation? The promo by the way was ordered by Dixie Carter. She told Joe to go out there put heat on Hall for not showing up and put over TNA contracted wrestlers, so she really has no reason to be angry as that's what he did.
