What do you guys think? Good move?
Angle was working as a dominant champ, but maybe the DUI cost him (and rightfully so).....so with that said....
I've long admitted to being a Sting mark in his TNA run, despite his diminished abilities all around....so I'm cool with him as champ, ideally setting up to hand it over to one of the deserving younger guys after a time.
There seem to be indications that Sting may retire at year's end (unless it's a money ploy)....if that's true, then I definitely like the idea of him getting one last major title and retiring.
Thoughts?

I personally had no problems with Kurt been the champion . Maybe he could of had it abit longer . My main problem is not who the champion is . More it seems to be the same old wrestlers all the time , getting the title shot . New challengers so we can see new matches , wouldn't be a bad idea ? .

I just can't wait until he loses it to Kevin Nash. Then he will simultaneously hold the WWE, Heavyweight Title, and TNA title. Wow!!! The only thing that would be cooler would be for him to go to the tanning booth to get a really wicked tan (the moratorium is up).

Sounds pretty right to me.

Please put the belt on AJ Styles. Thank you. That is all. That'd be great. Sadly, it will take roughly two years to re-buld him after playing the loser-goober-sidekick for all these months. Arguably the best worker on the roster, the one the fans connect to the most easily (you can almost hear them DYING to pop for AJ every timehe pulls a move ut of his repertiore), and the TNA franchise player for years...and he's cutting promos thanking Pokemon and Ivan Drago from Rocky IV.

As to the topic: would normally say this is a bad move because Kurt makes the poerfect heel champ, but honeslty Angle did nothing for the ratings, nothing for the buy-rates, and TNA completely trashed the one money-making feud they had with Kurt so there's really no reason for him NOPT to drop the belt and Sting is as good as anyone.
A feud with Angle and Nash over the title will be entertaining at least and if the match is a clusterf*** it will probably be watchable. I have no idea what TNA would do after that though because their other heel challengers seem busy...Christian? Killings? Chocolate Reign?

I really can't stand the whole goober persona for AJ Styles either.....they are wasting an all-around awesome wrestler. He and Tomko make credible tag champs, but Styles could be used so much better.
If I had a pick a younger talent that deserves the baton passed to him, I'd pick him. Doesn't seem in the cards anytime soon though, sadly.

See.....and this an old debate going back a ways...everything went downhill with AJ when they put him in the tag -team with Daniels.
It made for some great matches, and an incredible feud with LAX (which led to exactly nothing for LAX)but it firmly entrenched the guy who was the face of the company, and who's style was a representation of what ses them apart from the competition, as a permanent midcarder.
Even worse was the follow up: he turns heel on Sabin, and Sabin turns heel approximately five minutes later (which made AJ's turn forgettable and pointless) and then he becomes Christian's partner. At first, as a way of "earning" a title shot, but eventually he's just a lackey sidekick.
If you've watched TNA for more than a year or so: First off, I feel your pain. Secondly, AJ is the man. He carried that company on his back when it was absolute dreck. Dreadful. When nothing else was watchable the X Division kept that company alive and AJ was the star.
The 2 hour Impacts have been surprisingly well-booked for the most part. But the way they use AJ is a huge waste of talent and money.

I've been watching TNA for about 1 1/2 years, so I also missed out on probably the high point of Styles' tenure there. I also agree about the 2 hour Impacts being largely pretty good -- I hope they slowly and surely start figuring out the details and really turning it around.

Here's the thing with AJ, as i see it. He's the best home grown talent they have. And he's a lifer, they know he will be there for the long run. So why not take him out of the main event for a bit just to have him fight new people? He's not going anywhere. When they want him to step back up all he has to do is turn on Christian and beat him at one PPV. Bam, old AJ is back and is a World Title Contender again.
I don't mind the sidekick role, but then I can't deny it's a step down from when he was the face of the company 2-3 years ago.

A) Who's to say he's a lifer? He signed a five year deal shortly before Impact debuted (if you believe the rag-sheets). That means he has 3 years left. He'll be 32. You don't think he'd at least consider going somewhere else?
B) It has not been "a bit." He hasn't held the World Title since 2004. He hasn't been a "main eventer" since his three-way feud with Daniels and Joe in 05.
C) Did you not hear what Aquinas said? There are quite a few viewers who are just now getting exposure to TNA. They don't even really refer to him as a "triple champion" o boradcasts. If he stays much longer there will be a segment of the audience that literally has no clue how important he is. One PPV win won't do it.
I'm sorry. AJ Styles is a horrendou waste of talent right now. For all those people who bit*h that AJ should never sign with the E because they would waste him, I say that they couldn't book him any worse than what TNA has done for the past 2&1/2 years.

To make AJ matter again, all they need to do is break him off from Christian/Tomko and have him head up the X Division again! With AJ at the helm, the X Division will rocket to even greater heights!
Seriously, at this point, give the belt to anyone - it doesn't matter. AJ? Roode? Cage? Joe? (No, not Joe - that would require a push.) Does it really matter when they'll be sucked into the latest Russo sex angle?
