So far, I've been impressed by the Triple X match, mildly intrigued by the Rhino versus Christian, and thrown into fits of laughter by the drug brothers (aka The James Gang, the New Age Outlaws, and apparently the Voodoo Kin Mafia) challenging Vince McMahon and the boys up the coast.
Let's be serious for a moment; wouldn't TNA - still MILES away from being in position to ruffle Vince's feathers - be better served by just focusing on their product and not trying to drag an acknowledgement of their existence out of the WWE? Sure, the disgruntled DX'ers were only trying to stir up a little noise to garner some attention, but this was pretty dumb.
What'll they do next, try to burn a U.S. flag? Holy . . . is that LAX with a blow torch and a flag?

I liked it for the most part. There were some segments on the show I coudl have done without, but all in all I thought they did a good job with the two hours. They took the opportunityto reintroduce some of the characters, they dipped into TNA history a little bit, and they did a pretty good job of showing what the promotion is about. Good stuff.

ok. TNA sucks. after what I just saw, I'm not even sure sucks is a strong enough word for what utter [censored] this show is and what total and complete retards the people that write this crap are...
so let me get this right...
they just turned their most popular character into a total heel for no reason.
amazing.
did you hear the impact mutants go silent when Joe kicked Angle in the head?
nobody cared.
unreal. just unbelievable.
and what's with the commercial at the end of the show?
they show all these TNA guys but rattle off names like Hogan, Macho Man, Hall, Nash, The Tennessee Titans, Rick Steiner, Buff Bagwell, Leg Luger and the pitcher from the white sox?
someone please explain this [censored] to me.

I didn't watch TNA before for various reasons (PPV or the 11 PM timeslot). But before giving a true opinion, I wanted to at least watch the prime time special.
Admittedly, I started to fall asleep. (Damn flu) But amazingly it was the Voodoo Kin Mafia that woke me up and kept my attention. Don't know why but it actually struck me funny. Hell, I will go as far as saying that I was entertained.
Points of concern IMO:
**Get rid of Tenay. Just because his name almost sounds like TNA when spoken really fast, doesn't mean he needs to be a commentator. Way to many flaws in his delivery.
**Why is it that 3 days before a PPV does the challenger to your "World" Title wrestle a match he can't win for obvious reasons. Could ANYBODY suspend doubt for one minute that Kurt would lose? Now they had said challenger go over the champ in the end (albeit a corny way of doing so) but the days of the challenger going over an obviously lesser opponent and then cutting a really good promo aren't dead yet; are they?
**The triple threat match for the X-Division Title was good. But for Petes sake, why the hell would Mike Tenay (there he is again, can you tell I dont like him) say that there was a "miscommunication" between Daniels and Styles when it was a TRIPLE FRIGGEN THREAT? Last I checked it was every man for himself.
Oh well; I will admit that I was entertained and may watch what happens next week. They aren't a threat to the real VKM yet; no matter what the Voodoo Kin Mafia might say

Gotta admit... it's called TNA for a good reason. Total Nonstop Action for the full 2 hours. Love it or hate it, these guys definitely kept the action coming at ya at 350 MPH!
Vincent McMahon... I hope that you were taking notes, bubba.
I'll be glued to the tube next week, for sure.

I'll give it a whirl, but first, my thoughts on the show. First of all, Kevin Nash once again proves he is comedy gold. While I have seen better from him, I still got a chuckle out of a couple of his one-liners. Nice mash-up of two tried and true "backstage" elements: The mock trial and the bathroom scene. Rhino-Cage was better than their BFG match. Kudos to Cage for bleeding like he did. I don't remember him blading much in WWE. I really liked the "bonus" items and how they played into the match (Cage using the bolt cutters to try to escape over the top). Nice move by having the match end right at 10:01, trying to prevent anyone from channel surfing. The VKM bit was mildly interesting. When I saw them come out, I yawned, but they cut a decent promo and injected some energy into the crowd. Sad they have to dog the real VKM to get over though. We'll see where this goes. I'm really tired of Styles vs. Daniels in any way, shape, or form. Nice twist into a Cage-Styles feud though. I see some good matches there. sickman, I think West is the problem. On second thought, I KNOW West is the problem. Tenay is okay with me. I had no clue about the LAX-AMW feud. Good stuff. Nice way to turn AMW face again. Abyss-Angle was a letdown. I for one thought it would end in a clusterf**k, but I was wrong. IT IS PLAIN STUPID TO HAVE THE NUMBER-ONE CONTENDER TO THE NWA TITLE TAP OUT DAYS BEFORE HE IS TO CHALLENGE FOR THE STRAP!!! This was a Class A-1 F-Up!!! I don't care if it was Angle; Abyss should not have tapped!!! Also, how do Sting & Abyss go from brawling on the ramp to Sting being hung upside down in the back like a meat slab from "Rocky" in a matter of 60 seconds? Unbelievable, in a bad way. Pretty decent show until the end. I say 7/10. Now, for the movie at the end. TNA was basically trying to appeal itself to the casual fan who normally doesn't stay up until 11 and has probably never seen TNA, the one who might have quit watching wrestling after the Monday Night Wars and WWE screwed up the most unscrewable (Invasion) angle in the history of professional wrestling. They figured if Joe Q. Dude saw some past big names on a TNA highlight reel, that JQD just might tune in next week to get another glimpse of the show. Yeah, it's a bit deceiving, but it's marketing all in the same. When Abyss-Angle started at 10:37, I wondered just how they were going to stretch it out for that long, but then when they pulled the movie at the end, I saw why it was done that way. Lastly, I was saddened by the absence of a man I'd like to have an adult beverage with, SENSHI.

thanks for an honest answer Big Bri. I agree with most of your post.
that ending was just garbage.
and that commercial...I mean really, how many "casual" fans who haven't watched wrestling in years just happen to catch that 5 minute commercial and go "oh, I'm a total idiot...I had no idea there was fed that Hogan, and Luger, and Macho, and Duggan, and Nash and Hall all wrestle in? and it's called TNA? and look! they have a six sided ring! awesome! I should start watching this show..."
I don't buy that. I buy that TNA is run by a bunch of retarded monkeys and that's what they're thinking, but I don't buy that it works.

Now now now, calm down everyone.
Someone asked a marketing-based question, and I get into stuff like that. I couldn't resist trying to explain a marketing tactic to someone. As TNA grows, it's interesting to see what kind of tactics they try to use to lure viewers in, tonight's "commerical" being one of them.

I've been in marketing for 7 years and it's obvious the points they are trying to get across. They just are highlighting the wrong points and aiming for the wrong audience. Nothing major.

The one thing I haven't seen from TNA is something WCW did during the Monday Night Wars. Every chance he got, Bishoff would show a clip of a current WWE star getting their a** handed to them when they were in WCW, trying to say that they weren't that good, that's why they went to WWE. I am interested in seeing where the VKM vs. VKM storyline goes. Will they pull something similar to DX when they showed up outside the arena during a WCW taping in a tank? And, will DX or McMahon answer back on Raw this week? Or, will they just ignore the verbal assault and hope it goes away?
All that said, I'd have to give tonight's Impact a 6 out of 10. I got a little tired of the crowd chanting like they were at a Bingo Hall ECW Event.

The WWE would have nothing at all to gain from mentioning anything about them.

I'd just like to point something out...a ton of you on here are constantly bringing up Vince McMahon's butt and his KMA club...you cry about it, complain about it, and talk about how much you hate it...
you know what that means?
That means Vince is doing his job. "Mr. McMahon" is a heel character on a television show...it's his job to get you, to hate that character...
and it works brilliantly.
I just wanted to point that out.
