After reviewing what went down at Destination X, I've got to say that bringing in Steiner isn't a terrible move. Do I agree that he is WAY past his prime...yes. But he is a fairly 'big' name, and from the looks of it, he's strictly there to help JJJ take out Sting. This gives Sting someone he should beat while continuing to fight with JJJ and thus lets some of the other younger guys stay out of that 'storyline' which is a good thing, because a medium name TNA guy wouldn't draw the same interest against Sting as Steiner would.
Bringing in Shannon Moore, Elix Skipper and others is one thing...but Steiner, as broken down as he is, is still a draw and can't really hurt them.
The simple fact is, as good as some of the homegrown TNA guys are, some of them aren't ready for the NWA Title limelight...so until they are (if ever) then guys like Sting and BPP will help bring in a few extra fans and keep others interested.
Steiner is a pretty good heel, and in my eyes works as more 'muscle' for JJJ and his army. On his best day he's probably sub-par in the ring, but the name, the 'look' and the attitude are what TNA brought him in for...not his wrestling skills.

I respectfully disagree with this...used correctly, either AJ Styles or Christopher Daniels could have been the flag-ship wrestler for a fed like TNA that is filled with guys who wrestle thier style... for TNA to have ever made it, they needed to put these two on top, vs. each other, and bleed it dry with a series of ***** matches for the TNA Title or whatever the hell it is called...this fed was going to sink or swim from the beginning based on how they used these two guys... and they fucked it up. bad.

I find it funny that folks will go on and on how much they hate Steiner but I bet most of them will tune in this Saturday to see what Steiner has to say.

I would like dispell the notion that Scott Steiner or Sting or anyone else is going to help TNA draw "casual viewers."
Impact airs at 11 p.m. EST on Saturdays. The casual viewers TNA hopes to draw in are out or they are doing something else. The only people who are going to watch wrestling at that time are wrestling junkies, many of whom are Internet fans. Judging by what the IWC likes, Steiner will only lead to bitching moaning. Now, these people aren't going to change the channel, because they like to complain, but Steiner isn't going to draw new, mainstream fans because those people are not going to tune in at that time.
As for Canadianpitbull's assertion that those hating on Steiner will tune in to see what he has to say: Not me. I might catch him on Monday's replay if I'm still awake, but I won't be watching Impact this Saturday, or any other one for that matter.

Ahh but you did say "might" so I guess I will be right either way. If a Steiner/Sting feud takes off you cannot tell me it won't bring back WCW fans and disgusted WWE fans thus bringing more interest to the TNA product. I guess we will have to see what the ratings bring in over time. Steiner has said that his foot is not 100% but he can still go. Time will tell besides it is not even known how long Steiner is there for as there has been nothing official that he is apart of the Roster yet. If your going point fingers about who is doing nothing look at Kevin Nash, another guy I really enjoyed watching but since his chest pains scare he has not even been on television and I would assume TNA paid a pretty penny to bring him in. Ultimately I don't care how old some of these guys are as long as they work hard and help the younger guys. Does Steiner being there hurt AJ Styles or Christopher Daniels or even Samoa Joe? Hell no! These guys have solidified themselves as the top dogs in the X-division. And have had a major program going on for the X-division title. Whether Steiner helps or hurts the program will have to be seen.

As someone who watches Impact almost every week but cannot get the PPV's (I don't have PPV capability), I was excited when I read PPV report and heard about Steiner's appearance. He always succeeded in making me "hate" his character. I guess yo can say I "love to hate" him. Few wrestlers are able to generate that kind of "hatred" from me. So to me, Steiner is a great heel. Bringing him in for a short run in a program with Sting could be fun.
But I do agree with Swarm in that A.J. Styles and Christopher Daniels (and I would add Samoa Joe) need to be the main event guys. Seeing guys like Steiner and Sting is great for nostalgia and can be entertaining, but the spotlight needs to be on Styles, Daniels, and Joe. I do think that they did a good job spotlighting these three guys in the last couple of months. I hope they keep it up. (And according to spoilers for upcoming editions of Impact, it sounds like they will be giving Joe another big push, which is good).

See, the way I see it TNA did put Daniels and Styles at or near the top of the food chain when TNA started out and everyone was raving about AJ. Now, the fed is trying to add more talent, while still keeping AJ, Daniels and Joe in the limelight in the X Division. Sort of how ECW gave RVD the TV Title and kept it on him for 2 years. Everyone wanted him to be the 'top dog' holding the ECW Title, but Paul E was smart, and still made RVD the top dog, but had him own the TV Title instead of 'holding' the ECW Title.
Same thing here...the X Division Title is a very important Title in TNA, and TNA has done a good job with the feud between the three main X guys with others being thrown into the mix. Joe has made his name in TNA by being undefeated, and the guy who 'broke the code' of the X Divison. All 3 of these guys will be in the NWA Title hunt down in due time, and will be more credible contenders because of the time they spent killing each other in the X division...jmo.
**I don't really dissagree that making Daniels and Styles the 'Encubus and Bloodline' of TNA right away would have been good...but I still think they're getting there...

Swarm says Styles and Daniels should be main eventers but then he will say Daniels is too skinny and Styles sucks on the mic. Doesn't sound like main eventers to me.

I don't think Christopher Daniels being too skinny should matter, Bret Hart never looked that big and he was a 5 time champ, and look at Chris Jericho, granted no one would say he was skinny, but he wasn't that big either, Daniels is a great performer in ring, and solid on the mic, plus if you back him up with 3/4 of the roster like Jarrett does, he could be champ for years, as for AJ, i like AJ, but i think he would need a mouth piece manager to get a good run as champ. I like them using Christian for now, and then maybe giving Samoa Joe a chance, but for the most part there are some great points here, TNA needs to tell spike tv to stay out of there business and let them run their own tv show...instead of giving big air time to guys who won't be around in a year.

Well, Daniels IS a midget and Styles DOES suck on the mic...
God love him, he cut the promo of his career (sadly) on the last Impact before Destination X.
Styles can suck on the mic if he can find a way to connect with the fans on a visceral level.
Sting was never great on the mic, but rarely got anything more than a full-fledged face reaction from about 1990 on...heck, that was true even during his heel run. It's all about connecting...Goldberg, Sting, Luger, Benoit, Rey...all guys who range from "okay to bad" on the stick, but can (or could) get the crowd behind them.

I thought Sting always sounded like a complete doofus on the mic until later in his career. He seemd to get better after he dropped the surfer boy hairdo. Just my take on it though. The one thing you can say about Sting is he did have that way of connecting.
The TNA crowd is pretty rough, and it's hard to judge who has the connection and who doesn't. They seem to appreciate actual wrestling a lot more than talking. While I don't think Styles is very good on the mic, it's hard to tell how he'd do in front of a different type of audience.

Although I am not as indepth as the other promoters on this board...I take wrestling as what it is-entertainment, pure as simple...I don't know much about the politicing and am totally retarded when it comes to history of wrestling before the start of Hulkamania back in the mid-80's (matter of fact, I used to hate wrestling when I was younger...I was forced to watch it but do remember some of the wrestlers like Haystack Calhoun, Gagne, etc...). However, I think Poppa Pump is da bomb...granted he has problems with manuevability and all BUT he can be a great heel...he also as Scott Steiner has created several wrestling moves that others use today... Sting...I don't really care for the Crow thang...totally misused...but was awesome back in the day... Now, at the present time, these two were brought into the TNA to bring some of the viewers (whether it be WWE fans or the casual viewers) to the fed...it needs to be done folks! I have never really cared for TNA as it seems that it is a wrestling fed designed aroung JJ getting the title... plus any good talent is sorrounded around him ala NWO and he beats up on jabronis...but I have to give it to TNA for trying to make a run against the big bad evil empire... These two new additions have caught my eye and I am watching it regularly last week or so...I now know of Chris Daniels, AJ Styles, and all them...okay, I will get off my soap box and get back to the wise cracking, ignorant, and sometimes simple answered Raving Lunatic...ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!ha!ha! ;D

Well if we are going to say that TNA was a fed designed around Jeff Jarrett getting the title then you better think the same thing around HHH in the WWE because lets face it, Trips will be taking the title at WM and then we get more of the "Manlove" once again. Before it was with Austin and The Rock and now it will be with Cena.
Not taking anything away from HHH but if your going to make comments like the Jarrett one you better look at the WWE as well. All federations whether on tv or not have their "politics".

I agree...didn't mean to start an argument...just my opinion...just for the record-don't care for HHH and figured he would face the champ at Wrestlemania regardless of who it was...plus....if you read the second part of my rant-I am actually getting into the TNA thang...

I miss Tony Schiavone, because he could say:
"Triple H and John Cena... yeah that'll really put so me butts in the seats."
Whether it really would or not, I'd still enjoy hearing it.
