My PC version of COTG is finally, finally, finally available to download (barring some unforeseen problem). Many of you know that I have been working on this on-and-off for about 8 years. My latest version is a two-year labor of love that I think is ready for testing. Should you choose to visit my website and download my program, you should be award that this is a test version and may, err probably contains lots of bugs. Obviously, there is nothing that can harm your pc. At most you'll find a glitch or crash in the program itself. I am asking for people to download it, check it out and let me know what you think. Please read through the pages of my website to learn more. I explain a lot on my site, but will point out a couple of things here: 1. The program's zip file is 15 MB. 2. This is important* Your computer must be able to handle 1024x768 graphics resolution. My program will not make this adjustment for you, so be sure to change your settings while using it. This will be fixed later. www.gwfpc.com

Then after that I went to the create section and as soon as I click on create I get this error.
Runtime error 383 'text' property is a read only.
This looks like a good setup from the screenshots I've seen. I've been thinking about designing one myself. I design with VB, I did alot of plugins for TNM7 over the years and I think this idea could really take off.
I can't wait to get in and see how it all works and maybe I can give you some ideas I had for mine.

I think that may have been a problem with the random wrestler generator that I have been problems with. I have sinced routed it and hopefully it's fixed. The updated version is available along with a couple other fixes that were mentioned in the bugs section of my website. It looks like part of your post was missing. Was there anything else wrong? email me at feedback@gwfpc.com

Are you sure you changed anything?
I get that same error as soon as I click on Create A Wrestler.
PS. The top have of my earlier msg was gone. I just wanted to note that when it goes to exhibition mode and it prompts for the *.GWF file when you click cancel it keeps coming back so there's no way out of that window except for loading the file.

This error is a little befuddling. a 'text property is read-only' error is something that I would think would occur regardless of the machine it is run on. It simply means the program is trying to populate a combo box with an item that wasn't added. It comes up and works perfectly on my machine.
I recompiled the program and have listed it again. Be sure that you're only extracting GWF-PC.zip and not the .cab file that is compressed in it. If you are prompted to overwrite anything, do it. The .exe file is the most important one. Let me know how it works out.
As for the other thing, I had to make it so at lest one wrestler is selected. I'm thinking of just reverting back to the main menu if cancel is selected.

I did include Rick Martel and Roddy Piper Legends bootlegs. Have a match with them and let me know how that works, as well.
It might be easier to reply through my email at feedback@gwfpc.com

"I had to make it so at lest one wrestler is selected. I'm thinking of just reverting back to the main menu if cancel is selected." Ya that's what I figured would be best. It's a minor thing but I always think of all situations. I'll try it again. Thanks. Played an exhibition match, looks cool!

Well, I hate to be the "DoomSayer" in all this, but if you've played COTG Desktop 1.1, then you've played GWF PC. Ultimately, once you strip away all the window fluff, it's the same game. Unfortunately, GWF PC falls short on the user-friendly side. I was mostly confused during the matches I ran, until I figured out those tiny blue words over the ring are "explaining" what is going on in the match.
Graphics wise, it looks sharp! The ring is nice, with the starburst behind it. I am sorry, and I don't mean to be harsh in any way (because it's still about 100x better than anything I could ever do), but it wasn't worth the 15 MB download that it took.
So, what could be different? *How about FINALLY getting away from the rolling dice thing, why not just sim the match as they fight it out using the move-set? *Maybe some choice as to which (ch) option you want to go with, it didn't let you decide. *A better graphics interface would be great (I was often confused as to what to click on next). *Luckily, I had no bugs or glitches throw my game off track, which is great to see! *No clue what that Referee Condition was supposed to do, but it sure looked nice! *Overall, it looks sharp, but the controls are very guess-work involved, and it plays just the same as COTG Desktop. I guess I figured it would be more like an actual sim game, and not another "click-roll-click-roll-click-roll" sort of 'game'. Just my 2 cents...

AntiSocial-X-
I agree that a sim-based game would be cool, if it were an actual match like any wrestling video game out there. Unfortunately, I don't have the capabilities to prgram something like that. I was going for a computerized version of the game, dice and all. It can be used to run that second fed that you just don't have enough time for, get caught up quickly or something like that.
I do appreciate your input. I'd like you to elaborate more on the difficulties you found using it. I tried to program it as straightforward as possible. That being said, there was A LOT to include if I wanted to include all charts, special matches, etc.
Basically, you select your match and select the special rules. Then you open the wrestler files, and set which charts you want to include during the match, then you play.
There are two text boxes that let you know what's going on. One tells you who's roll it is, the other tells relays the different prompts on the charts.
The referee is there in case he happens to get hurt. If the hurt referee chart is disabled, or the referee is insignificant in that particular match, it is useless.
I plan to include tutorials on my website. Let me know specifically, where it can be improved.

I think I may download it. I've been playing since 89, but am only on 2105 due to starting over and playing Legends.
This may help me catch up a bit.

Also, the choice option is something that is very important to me. I did program it in one of my earlier versions. It will definitely be incorporated soon.
But as for the difficulty you found in what to click next: At any given time there is only one button to click, it is either an offense button or defense button depending on the move that is being rolled. Once the match is over all buttons disappear. You just double-click pretty much anywhere to exit.
Were you able to use the Create-A-Wrestler?

If I can ever get the download to complete, I'll give it a go...right now it would be of limited use to me, but when the Fed Options are in, I'm THERE.

So, what could be different? *How about FINALLY getting away from the rolling dice thing, why not just sim the match as they fight it out using the move-set? If that's what you want, you'll like what I'm working on. I am currently working on my "Federation Tracker X" and part of my plans will have a simulation mode if you desire amongst other thing that I don't want to say yet. If you know the TNM7 scene and the plugins and matches I've made for it, you'll be happy with what I have planned.

Stephen;
Believe me when I say, what you have created is NOT junk by any means, I want to make that clear right up front. It is still light years ahead of anything that I could have ever done. For that, I definitely commend you on the hard work you have put into it!
Specifically, here's some things I noticed that could be tweaked just a tad: *The buttons for NEXT, CLEAR, EXIT, etc. could be highlighted in some way so they stand out a bit better. *I had no problems with the Create-A-Wrestler option whatsoever. Other than what appears to be a lack of option on putting a picture on there, it was very straightforward in its design. Not having to type in "dazed-1" or "down-3" all the time certainly made it much easier to manipulate. *Something popping up after a match was over "click anywhere to exit" or something similar would have been great. *Clicking on "Federation" did nothing. Do you need a caertain number of wrestlers in the database before you can click on that? *The screen allowing you to choose what advanced rules you want to use was extremely cool, a nice touch. In that sense, it allows you to customize your matches a bit more. But, as I stated, when using the (ch) charts, I didn't see anything that allowed me to decide which (ch) option I was going to go with, it chose it for me. *I understand now that the Referee Condition would be there for the "Hurt Referee" section? If that's the case, it was a nice addition. Maybe a way to customize it to allow wrestlers as special referees?
I just hope you understand that I'm not trashing your creation in any way. I just want to make sure you get as detailed of an analysis as possible for it. Heck, you should see the one I made, all it had was two dice and THAT'S IT!! So, there's no way I'm gonna bad-mouth this. This is the downside to me being a GWF over-perfectionist I guess...

I'm working on the exit thing. That was one of the things that slipped through the cracks when I was programming. At this point there are so many ways for a match to end that I may have to cheat a little to get it up.
You can put a picture in the Create-A-Wrestler. In fact, you can select to have it oriented portrait(upright) or landscape (horizontal). You can also add a small picture to make it clearer, when he/she is used as a manager or when it show up in tournament brackets. This will also be used when I incorporate the new card design.
As for the referee. There is a generic picture there now, and that's there for a reason. When I created it, I had every intention of incorporating special referees in the future.
The Federation mode hasn't been programmed yet. It's explained on my website.
I appreciate your review, if you will. I'm not getting defensive. I put this out knowing it wasn't perfect. A couple of your concerns were about things that I thought you may have overlooked and wanted to clarify.
Thanks again for your input.

The Create-A-Wrestler tutorials are up on my website. I am still working to develop Wrestler Specific instructions. (Currently only the instructions for Chaos' Alpha Stone are up). But the overall instructions are there. Check it out. www.gwfpc.com

Just notice a glitch: After playing a Total Anarchy match, if you play another match (different rules), when a pinning situation comes up, instead the text box says "match can only be won by pinfall outside the ring"

Thank you. This error was a simple oversight that required one line of code to fix. For now, you'll have to exit the game and reload after playing a Total Anarchy match.
An updated version of the game will be available later this month.

Hey Stephen, You have no idea how much I have been looking forward to this program! A couple months ago I actually posted on here hoping you would update us on your progress, but I see you like surprises Although I know you have a lot of work left to do, allow me to thank you for what you have given us so far. Clearly you poured countless hours into this and I am so thankful. It should allow me to catch up, especially once you add in the Federation modes. That is something that I truly cannot wait for!! I am in the process of scanning my cards so I can start using the program. Thanks again, and please keep us posted on the progress of updates and/or new versions. A thankful fellow promoter, B2BG

Thanks for the great feedback. I hope people are truly enjoying the program. I just got Early Classics today and was truly blown away by how satisfying it is. I am itching to start again from the beginning and would like to use my program to do. I feel inspired to get going on Fed mode. Believe me, I know how tedious the scanning and entering of playing cards can be. But we all know there is no other way. Lucky for me, I have them all done ;o) I appreciate all of the feedback. Everybody please contnue to provide it. I neeeeeeed it! I have set up an email address specifically for this feedback@gwfpc.com.
