*** MORE NWF BREAKING NEWS *** SUPERBOWL 5 MAIN EVENT SIGNED!! The first meeting of the two most prolific wrestlers in NWF history will headline the 5th Annual SUPERBOWL OF WRESTLING on December 28th in Pittsburgh! NICK BOCKWINKEL – former 5-time NWF titleholder with a cumulative 144 weeks as champion; holds the all-time record for longest title reign at 504 days with 19 successful defenses; most wins of any wrestler in NWF history; 2003 Most Hated Wrestler; 2003 Feud of the Year; 2003 Match of the Year; 2004 Wrestler of the Year; 2004 Outstanding Wrestler of the Year; 2005 Most Popular Wrestler Overall 2007 record 11-5-1; managed by Bobby “the Brain” Heenan THE SHEIK – 2-time and current North American Champion; combined title reigns total 595 days and a cumulative 25 successful defenses; will end 2007 having held the North American for 85 of the last 91 weeks; has suffered only one pinfall loss in 44 singles matches since entering the area; 2005 Newcomer of the Year; 2006 Wrestler of the Year; 2006 Most Hated Wrestler; 2006 Feud of the Year; 2006 Match of the Year Overall 2007 record 15-2-1; managed by Abdullah Farouk The two accomplished grapplers have been at odds over the 2007 Wrestler of the Year honors. Last year, The Sheik barely won the award over Bockwinkel in the closest balloting ever. This year, the same two are the top candidates again, and the race is too close to call!! Due to the rule that no wrestler can concurrently hold more than one championship, the North American Title will not be at stake since Bockwinkel is a current co-holder of the tag titles. From all accounts, this will be a “one night only” event, with no rematch regardless of the outcome. The biggest match in NWF history is just weeks away at SUPERBOWL 5!!

Card #258 – 12/14/2007 Stambaugh Auditorium – Youngstown, OH
Last week was a wild one! Things always seem to heat up when the SUPERBOWL OF WRESTLING is looming on the horizon! To almost no one’s surprise, the first Redheads/Kangaroos tag match was scratched once again! This time the excuse was “transportation problems” for Al Costello. Still, the rest of the card is ready to go, with Steve Williams defending the NWF Title in the main event! Let’s get to the action…
1. Cousin Luke b Larry Sharpe This match almost broke down, as both tag partners were at ringside and very active. Doring saved Sharpe once, but Luke bulled his way to victory with the Hillbilly Drop.
2. Flying Redheads b Roy Heffernan & Wild Red Berry Yet another frustrating win for the Redheads. Due to the continuing excuses by Berry to delay a meeting between the Redheads and Kangaroos, everyone is getting upset, including NWF officials. This time, instead of taking their anger out on Berry, the Redheads battered Heffernan. Lyons eventually made him submit with the Figure 4 Leglock.
3. Jimmy Valiant b Ivan Koloff A big victory for Valiant, although an assist has to go to partner Mad Dog Vachon who was ringside taunting Koloff and waving his Algerian chains around. Koloff was in control before being distracted by Vachon’s actions. Valiant was able to apply the Sleeper for the win. The Chain Match between Vachon and Koloff will definitely be one of the highlights of SUPERBOWL 5.
4. Jim Duggan b Larry Hennig Hacksaw continues his winning ways as the Hennigs continue their slide. At one point, Harley Race got on the apron to interfere, but Duggan hit a Flying Spear that sent Hennig barreling into Race, knocking him to the floor. Duggan followed with a second Flying Spear to get the pinfall.
5. Bob & Brad Armstrong dcor Riviera Playboys This match fell apart quickly as tempers have reached a boiling point between these teams after months of conflict. It wound up with Brad and Rose going at it on the arena floor and into the crowd for a double countout. After a 3-11 start, the Armstrongs are 4-1-1 in their last 6 bouts. After the bout, Bullet Bob challenged the Playboys to a match at the SUPERBOWL where Falls Count Anywhere to settle this long running feud.
6. Rick Rude b DDP The neck injury DDP recently suffered limited his mobility. Ravishing Rick wasted no time going right to work on the injury. DDP had expected Dennis Condrey to be at ringside, but Loverboy Dennis was nowhere to be found. DDP did a great job of avoiding the Rude Awakening, but was pinned after being rattled by a double underhook suplex.
7. Larry Zbyszko & Curt Hennig nc Ray Stevens & Bobby Heenan Unbelievable – the entire match was a setup! With Zbyszko leaving the Heenan Family last week, and embarrassing Heenan in the process, this looked like a great matchup. Hennig, who had been courted by Heenan for months, turned on Zbyszko at the bell! Hennig, Stevens and Heenan beat on Zbyszko continuously, leaving him a bloody mess. Larry Hennig ran out, but got jumped and beaten as well. Finally, Harley Race hit the ring with a load of security to break things up. A shocking betrayal, leaving Larry Hennig both battered and bewildered by Curt’s actions.
8. Harley Race dq Ted DiBiase This was a good bout between former allies with a lot of moves and holds exchanged. Race seemed flustered from the events of the last match. It looked like Harley would get the win nonetheless, having DiBiase in trouble after a swinging neckbreaker. Out of nowhere he was attacked by Ray Stevens! That caused the DQ, and has given the Heenan Family a longer list of enemies. Race has been trying to get at Nick Bockwinkel since he returned to the area, but so far Bock has been protected from meeting his former rival by manager Bobby Heenan.
9. NWF Championship: Steve Williams b Greg Valentine Both Valentine and manager Lou Albano had been claiming “the Hammer” would be the next NWF Champion. In their last meeting, Williams got a DQ win when Valentine nailed the champ with the NWF title belt. This match saw Valentine doing his best to make good on his promise to win the title. He got some very near falls in this high impact encounter. In the end, Valentine and Albano were huddled in the corner discussing strategy when Williams leveled Greg with a standing dropkick that sent Albano plummeting to the floor. Doc rolled Valentine up for the pin, although Valentine claimed he had his shoulder up before the three count.
The craziness continues as we’re only two weeks away from SUPERBOWL 5! Both the Heenan Family and Hennig Family are getting turned inside out! Next week will be the annual “Road to the Superbowl” show! No titles will be on the line, and there will be some unique matchups as a prelude to the big year-end spectacular! Here’s the current lineup:
* The NWF has finally stepped in and put an end to Wild Red Berry’s constant attempts to avoid the Flying Redheads! Threats of both fines and suspensions have made, and Berry is on the defensive! Next week, the teams will meet in singles competition, and the first tag meeting will absolutely, positively happen at SUPERBOWL 5!
* Although he probably has other things on his mind right now, Larry “the Axe” Hennig will have a big match against Ted DiBiase! Hennig will have to put the actions of son Curt out of his mind if he wants to beat the double tough DiBiase!
* Dennis Condrey may not have been around this week, but he will be next week! He steps into the ring against massive King Kong Bundy! Condrey & DDP have signed for another showdown with Bundy & Rick Rude at SUPERBOWL 5! Can Condrey, always known more for his tag-team skills, stop his recent 3 match singles slide against an opponent twice his size?
* Harley Race will team with Heenan Family defector Larry Zbyszko to face Ray Stevens and Heenan’s newest recruit Curt Hennig! This can’t be sitting well with Larry Hennig, who despises Heenan! We’ll see if more of the story unfolds next week!
* In one of the unique tag-team matches on the card, NWF Champion Steve Williams and vicious Mad Dog Vachon will team together for the first time! They will take on Lou Albano’s team of Greg Valentine & Ivan Koloff! Williams and Valentine are ready for their title rematch at SB5. Both Vachon and Koloff will have their respective chains in tow as they prepare for the chain match showdown! The coin toss to determine whether the Russian or Algerian chains get used will happen before this bout!
* Your big main event will see another odd tag-team pairing. On one side you’ll have Bullet Bob Armstrong and his partner, the devious Nick Bockwinkel! Armstrong has already warned the former 5-time NWF champ that he better not try any funny business! Their opponents will be North American champ The Sheik and one half of the Riviera Playboys – Buddy Rose! Rose has already voiced his displeasure with the arrangement, and seems deathly afraid of The Sheik! Bockwinkel and Sheik will meet in arguably the biggest match in NWF history in just two weeks, and this could give everyone an idea of how that bout will go down! This will certainly be a sight to see as we head toward the biggest event of the year!
See you next week in Cleveland for the “Road to the Superbowl” show!

Card #259 – 12/21/2007 “Road to the Superbowl” Cleveland Arena – Cleveland, OH
The 5th annual SUPERBOWL OF WRESTLING is just a week away, and the sold out Civic Arena in Pittsburgh will host the biggest event in NWF history! We’ve got a great show lined up this week to get everyone fired up for the big event, so let’s get to the action…
1. S.D. Jones b Larry Sharpe A good outing for S.D. who started slow but picked up the pace. He won with a Headbutt to keep “Pretty Boy” Larry Sharpe winless.
2. Jimmy Valiant b Danny Doring The Boogie Woogie Man and was about to score an quick win when Larry Sharpe ran in and popped Valiant with some sort of foreign object. Doring was able to take advantage, but once Valiant regained his senses, things turned back around. After winning with the Sleeper, Valiant challenged Sharpe to a match at the SUPERBOWL.
3. Harley Race & Larry Zbyszko b Ray Stevens & Curt Hennig Complete domination by Race & Zbyszko. Both members of the Heenan Family got busted open early and struggled the entire bout. The match ended when Heenan Family defector Zbyszko planted the newest Family member Curt Hennig with a Piledriver. Those two have signed for a singles encounter at the SUPERBOWL, which will be a rematch from November 30th, only with each man on different sides. Larry Hennig was not at ringside, and is reportedly distraught over his son’s actions. When asked about a potential match against Curt, The Axe said under no circumstances would he face his son in the ring.
4. Dennis Condrey cor King Kong Bundy A quick match where Bundy got Condrey outside the ring and pounded on him. Bundy’s partner Rick Rude was ringside and joined in when the ref wasn’t looking. Bundy splashed Condrey on the floor, and it looked like Loverboy Dennis was done like dinner. Bundy hoisted Condrey up and tossed him into the ring. Then he and Rude just walked away, taking the countout loss! It was an odd decision, but made a statement to Condrey and Diamond Dallas Page, who Bundy and Rude will face in tag action at the SUPERBOWL.
5. Roy Heffernan b Billy “Red” Lyons With the first meeting of the Flying Redheads and Fabulous Kangaroos FINALLY set for next week, these two were looking to get things going. Lyons had taken Heffernan apart back on November 9th, and it looked like history was going to repeat itself until he missed a top rope kneedrop. Heffernan took advantage of the situation and used his Stepover Toehold for the win.
6. Steve Williams & Mad Dog Vachon b Greg Valentine & Ivan Koloff This tag bout pitted Lou Albano’s regular team against their respective SUPERBOWL opponents. Valentine claimed poor officiating led to his loss to Williams last week. Doc was more than happy to accept a rematch after enduring a lot of trash talking by both Valentine and Albano. Vachon and Koloff are heading towards a Russian Chain Match showdown, as the pre-match coin toss to determine whose chains would be used was won by Koloff. The match itself mostly saw the feuding enemies paired up. Both Williams and Vachon seemed to get the better of their opponents. The finish saw Doc pin Valentine with the Oklahoma Stampede, although Valentine said his foot was on the ropes. Clearly, Valentine placed his foot on the bottom rope well after the three count, and may be playing head games with the NWF champ.
7. Red Bastien b Al Costello The Redheads and Kangaroos split singles wins heading to their first match. Wild Red Berry did his best to get the upper hand for Costello, but Bastien’s Atomic Drop got the job done.
8. Ted DiBiase b Larry Hennig DiBiase has had a great run since his return, and has yet to be pinned. Ordinarily, Hennig would have been a tougher challenge, but you could see that with Curt becoming a member of the Heenan Family, his head just wasn’t in the match. Harley Race was at ringside to try and keep Hennig focused, but it was a lost cause. DiBiase won with a fistdrop after almost getting the win earlier with the Figure 4 Leglock.
9. Nick Bockwinkel & Bob Armstrong b The Sheik & Playboy Buddy Rose This was a crazy matchup on both sides. Armstrong, the only true fan favorite in the ring, had warned Bockwinkel about crossing him. Bullet Bob may not have Bockwinkel’s title credentials, but he does have a locker room full of supporters. Armstrong also had to worry about both The Sheik, who he will undoubtedly get a rematch against for the North American title, and Playboy Buddy Rose, who he has feuded with since April. On the other side of the ring, Rose was petrified of Sheik, and kept his distance as often as possible. Bockwinkel and Sheik, the two most accomplished grapplers in NWF history, are vying for the 2007 Wrestler of the Year honors, and the bad blood over the award has escalated in recent weeks. This had the look of a mini-lumberjack match when the bell rang, as Brad Armstrong, Bobby Heenan, Abdullah Farouk and Sherri Martel were all patrolling one side of the ring. For the first time in ages, Bockwinkel was loudly cheered, as almost everyone who faces Sheik is (with Ivan Koloff being the only possible exception). Sheik and Bob started, and as soon as Bockwinkel made the tag, the crowd erupted! As soon as Sheik could, he tagged to Rose. That was the only period of the bout where Bockwinkel and Sheik faced off. It ended when Armstrong locked the Sleeper on Rose. Brad stopped Sherri Martel from saving her man, while Heenan and Farouk were busy trading unprintable comments. There was some post match posturing by Bockwinkel and Sheik, but security was in the ring as soon as the bell rang to make sure no extracurricular action would take place.
Next week:

Great stuff, Tim! Can't wait for the Super Bowl. I think Boogie Woogie Man needs to bring in a tag partner to battle Sharpe and Doring. Perhaps.... BUGSY MCGRAW?

The Super Bowl should be great as I have not had Sheik face Bockwinkel yet and wonder how it would play out!
What were the different stips for the Algerian Chain Match by the way?

What were the different stips for the Algerian Chain Match by the way? Honestly...no difference. Just something for them to argue about. I wish I had a more creative answer. Cory - where is Bugsy McGraw?

Cory - where is Bugsy McGraw? Last I heard he was seen in Jamestown, unlike Greg Valentine. Bugsy's been spotted at the Taco Hut, Nanny's Soul Food, and Wilson Farms. He was asked by a Wilson Farms cashier where he and Boogie were going, to which they had no response. Sorry for all the inside jokes!

Can't wait for the Super Bowl! Interesting result in the Bundy vs. Condrey match, wonder what's up? It doesn't matter what kind of chains Mad Dog is using, he's going to pummel Koloff (I hope!)

Card #260 – 12/28/2007 SUPERBOWL OF WRESTLING 5 Civic Arena – Pittsburgh, PA
It’s the biggest show of the year! We’ve got a special appearance by Andre the Giant, a Russian Chain Match, a Falls Count Anywhere Match, Redheads/Kangaroos, the NWF Title and…oh yeah…THE BIGGEST MATCH IN NWF HISTORY! Who needs more of a build up than that? Let’s get to the action…
1. S.D. Jones b Danny Doring These two have had an ongoing undercard feud for much of the year. Doring had won all three previous meetings, but Jones ended that streak. He put Doring away with a suplex in this solid opener, and has quietly won 4 of his last 5 bouts!
2. Ted DiBiase b George South DiBiase got a relatively easy win, taking his 2007 record to 8-2 with no pinfall losses. The Black Glove laid South out. DiBiase will likely be in line to face the winner of the upcoming Sheik / Bob Armstrong North American Title match.
3. Bob & Brad Armstrong b Riviera Playboys (Falls Count Anywhere) This would be the final battle in a lengthy feud. The early battles saw the Playboys routinely cheat their way to victory with the help of manager Sherri Martel. After months of frustration, the Armstrongs decided to fight fire with fire and their fortunes turned around. Bob has become a real veteran leader in the fan favorite locker room, and gained a lot of respect after his recent match with The Sheik. This was a fantastic match, and the Armstrongs started fast and took things to the floor right away. The wild brawl reached just about every corner of the Civic Arena, including the souvenir stands and rest rooms. Bob got busted open first, but was closely followed by Buddy Rose. The finish was crazy. Rose did the Bombs Away from the apron to the floor on Brad, but Bob saved. Brad recovered and the Armstrongs did a double Russian Legsweep on the floor to Rose. As Koko tried to break up the action, Bob locked him in the Sleeper just as Brad hit another Russian Legsweep on Rose in the aisle to get the pinfall! After the bell, Sherri slapped Bob, who dragged her into the ring and spanked her over his knee as the crowd went wild! Suddenly, against usual NWF protocol, “Bad to the Bone” started playing over the PA system, and the Armstrongs were groovin’ in the ring.
4. Jimmy Valiant b Larry Sharpe It has been a hard luck year for Valiant. He wrestled more singles matches than anyone. He also lost more singles matches than anyone, despite scoring some memorable upsets along the way. Sharpe had made the mistake of giving Valiant a rough time last week and paid the price. Valiant got a quick win after some punishing roundhouse punches. Despite the somewhat disappointing year, Valiant finished strong, winning 4 of his last 5, and may wind up in the Top 10 rankings for the first time.
5. Harley Race & Larry Hennig b Ray Stevens & Bobby Heenan Another great match, and very heated given all the recent events involving the Heenan Family. The Brain did some hit and run attacks on Hennig before the big man finally latched onto the overconfident manager and let him have it! Out of nowhere, Curt Hennig showed up and interfered on behalf of his “new family” which turned the match around. It was an explosive, yet awkward situation when Race would taunt Curt from the apron. Hennig twice had Heenan pinned, but pulled him up both times to continue the beating. Finish saw a bloody Stevens pinned by Race’s swinging neckbreaker to keep the team unbeaten at 3-0.
6. Special Attraction: Andre the Giant dq Big John Studd This was a huge (literally) special attraction. Studd, at 6’ 10” and 364 lbs claims to be wrestling’s real giant. Studd got the early advantage thanks to a sneak attack before the bell. Andre survived a pin attempt, easily tossing Studd aside. Andre came back, causing Studd to bail out of the ring. Andre followed. Studd displayed his enormous strength, picking up the ring steps and hitting Andre with them for a quick DQ. Studd yelled to the crowd “There’s your so-called giant” and “I am the true giant of professional wrestling.” He should have paid more attention to his opponent, as Andre regained his senses and sent Studd flying over the guardrail with a headbutt. Andre climbed over the guardrail, and the two fought all the way back to the locker rooms.
7. King Kong Bundy & Rick Rude b Diamond Dallas Page & Dennis Condrey This would be a memorable match for DDP – and that’s not a good thing. DDP came in with a neck injury and was wrestling against doctor’s orders, but still started the match for his team. After a while in the ring, he went to tag Condrey. Loverboy Dennis responded by flipping him off! A bewildered DDP got clotheslined and schoolboyed by Rude for the pin! Condrey grabbed the house mic and said there is only one thing DDP cares about, and that’s himself! He added that Page was a terrible partner who never was around or did anything to help him. Condrey continued, saying that in his career, there have been people who helped him and stood by him – and out of nowhere came Bobby Eaton and Jim Cornette! All three hit the ring and used Cornette’s tennis racquet to do a number on the already injured DDP. Cornette announced that it will be a Happy New Year, because the Midnight Express are back in business, and back in the NWF!
8. Curt Hennig dq Larry Zbyszko The last time these two met, Zbyszko was being managed by Heenan, and Hennig was gaining popularity amongst the fans. Now the roles have reversed. This one didn’t last long. They exchanged a few moves before Zbyszko left the ring to go after Heenan! He was chasing Bobby around the ring with a steel chair, and Hennig tried to ambush him. Zbyszko saw him coming and popped him with the chair for the DQ.
9. Ivan Koloff b Mad Dog Vachon (Russian Chain Match) Koloff won the coin toss last week, so his Russian chains were used. Of course, Koloff claimed the superior strength and craftsmanship of his chains would help lead him to victory. It helped that Koloff attacked Vachon before the bell as the referee was attaching the chain to Mad Dog’s wrist. Vachon continued to fight back, but Koloff never lost the advantage that sneak attack gave him. After whipping Vachon’s back unmercifully, Koloff entangled Mad Dog’s arms and applied the Russian Bearhug for the win.
10. Fabulous Kangaroos b Flying Redheads FINALLY! It took threats of fines and suspensions by the NWF Board of Directors, but the long awaited first meeting between these teams was finally set! Bastien scored two very close near falls right away on Costello to set the tone. The unbeaten ‘Roos came back using their unique double-teaming skills and some timely interference by manager Red Berry. Lyons, who had done a number on both Kangaroos in singles matches, took the brunt of the attack. With Lyons out of it, Bastien was faced with a tough 2 on 1 situation. After a gutsy performance by Red, Heffernan got the pin with the Boomerang using the ropes for added leverage. Berry stopped a glassy-eyed Lyons from breaking up the pin.
11. NWF Championship: Steve Williams b Greg Valentine After claiming he was robbed of a title victory on December 14th by the referee, Valentine and manager Lou Albano complained long and loud, resulting in another chance at the gold. Unfortunately for “the Hammer,” the decision here left no doubt about the rightful champion. Valentine did his best to chop Williams and soften up the legs, but a backdrop driver and Oklahoma Stampede put the challenger down and out. It was a great display of power wrestling by Dr. Death, who has looked unstoppable since winning the title in August.
12. Nick Bockwinkel vs. The Sheik – “One Night Only” While the 2007 Wrestler of the Year award may have been the catalyst, you know there had to be something always nagging at these two. Each had heard all the comparisons, but the question remained - who would win a match between them? The styles can’t be more different. Bockwinkel is the great technician who will take shortcuts to win, Sheik is a madman who relies on illegal tactics, but will occasionally show some wrestling skill. These two have dominated their respective titles for the past two years, but have never met in singles competition. Not until tonight. Don’t expect to see this match again in the near future - there are no rematches scheduled. Bobby Heenan and Abdullah Farouk have done their best to prepare their fighters, so let’s see what happens! Bockwinkel received a thunderous ovation, a first since reuniting with Bobby Heenan. Bockwinkel’s strategy early was to take Sheik down and tie him up on the mat. It was effective for a while, but Sheik always finds a way. The dreaded foreign object turned things around for The Sheik, but his advantage didn’t last long. Bockwinkel got the Sleeper locked in, but Abdullah Farouk interfered to save the current North American champ. That gave Sheik a chance to recover, and he started working Bockwinkel’s lower back, including a couple of Camel Clutch attempts where Nick barely managed to get to the ropes. Sheik was getting frustrated, and went to his most devious weapon – the Fireball! As Farouk had the ref distracted, Sheik launched the flame at Bockwinkel! It was a glancing blow, but still enough where it looked certain that Sheik would get the win. The ref started his count, but at two, Bobby Heenan draped Bockwinkel’s foot over the bottom rope to break the count! It was perhaps the only ovation Heenan has received for cheating in his entire tenure in the NWF. The two tired and bloody combatants exchanged moves for several minutes. Bockwinkel once again began to get the upper hand. Then, Sheik did something unprecedented…he used a second Fireball that caught Bockwinkel flush! The former 5-time NWF champ crumpled to the mat holding his face and Sheik pounced on him to get the controversial victory in this fantastic main event!
Whew – what a way to end 2007! We’ve got some housecleaning to do before we start 2008. There are year-end awards, final December rankings and some other things to take care of. When we do get 2008 started, the first show will be on January 4th at the Erie County Fieldhouse! As usual, no titles will be defended to give everyone a little break after the SUPERBOWL, but we do have a few things lined up!
* It’s the return of the Midnight Express! Loudmouth manager Jim Cornette will substitute Dennis Condrey for Stan Lane in this incarnation. The Eaton & Lane combo held the NWF Tag-Team Titles a record three times! Can the new lineup be as successful?
* It’s a rematch between the Flying Redheads and the Fabulous Kangaroos! With all Red Berry’s avoidance tactics out the window, look for these two teams to be major players in the tag-team division in 2008!
* Nick Bockwinkel will be back in the ring despite taking a beating in tonight’s main event! He was checked by the medical staff in Pittsburgh, and despite a recommendation to take a couple of weeks off, he wanted to get back in the ring. He’ll take on former stablemate Jimmy Valiant! The two haven’t been on good terms since early 2006. Will the Boogie Woogie Man be able to take advantage of Bockwinkel’s weakened condition?
* Your big main event will see Heenan Family members Ray Stevens & Curt Hennig battle Harley Race & Larry Zbyszko! Hennig and Zbyszko have become even more bitter towards one another since they switched sides! Race is itching to get his hands on long-time rival Nick Bockwinkel, but so far hasn’t been able to get Tricky Nick in the ring! He’ll have to settle for Bock’s tag partner…for now.
A Happy New Year to all, and we’ll see you next week in Erie!

Great to see the refs will have names. Other than Curtis, were the others real refs in the NWF territory? I believe they were around for the pre-NWF "Studio Wrestling" days. Probably mostly in Pittsburgh. Bucky Palermo was supposedly the big bump taker and Izzy Moidel was the "blind" ref who always missed everything. Of course, Brian Hildebrand (Mark Curtis) was a close friend who was trained by Dom DeNucci and refereed a lot around the Pittsburgh area before catching on with Smoky and WCW.

Oh yeah, I had forgotten that Curtis started in the Pittsburgh area. Great write-up on the Superbowl! Music and someone getting flipped off?! What has happened to the NWF?!?!

Since my home computer died a while back, I haven't posted monthly rankings. I'm pretty sure this is where things stood at year-end for December. Overall W-L records for the year are in "( )"
DECEMBER 2007 RANKINGS As of Card #260
NWF: STEVE WILLIAMS (10-3-0) NA: THE SHEIK (16-2-1) 1. Ivan Koloff (11-6-0) 2. Harley Race (5-1-0) 3. Bob Armstrong (8-4-1) 4. Ted DiBiase (8-2-0) 5. Rick Rude (11-7-0) 6. Nick Bockwinkel (11-6-1) 7. Greg Valentine (7-4-0) 8. Jim Duggan (6-2-0) 9. Red Bastien (7-5-0) 10. Jimmy Valiant (7-17-0)
TAG: NICK BOCKWINKEL & RAY STEVENS (9-2-0) 1. Mad Dog Vachon & Jimmy Valiant (7-7-0) 2. Fabulous Kangaroos (7-0-0) 3. Bob & Brad Armstrong (8-12-1) 4. Flying Redheads (12-5-0) 5. Ted DiBiase & Steve Williams (6-1-0)
Notes: Steve Williams had a huge impact in 2007, finishing off the year as champ. He'll have to contend with Harley Race in 2008, as the former 3-time champ has been named his next challenger. What a great story for Jimmy Valiant to make both charts! Despite having a horrible year overall in singles, he closed things out by winning 4 of his last 5 and did the same w/Mad Dog in tag! The Armstrongs are a similar comeback story, finishing 5-1-1 after a dismal 3-11 start.
Year-end awards will be up soon! Did Bockwinkel or Sheik come out on top?
Have a great New Year everyone!
