Card #254 – 11/16/2007 Erie County Fieldhouse – Erie, PA
The return to the Fieldhouse was marred by news that the first Flying Redheads / Kangaroos match was off! Red Berry claimed that Roy Heffernan was so injured by the “illegal tactics” of Billy “Red” Lyons last week that he would be unable to compete! That sounds like a bunch of malarkey, but it’s beyond our control. There’s still a fantastic show lined up, including a North American title defense by The Sheik! Let’s get to the action…
1. Koko B. Ware b Cousin Luke Riviera Playboy Koko Ware and manager Sherri Martel thought this would be an easy victory, but Luke put up one heckuva fight. Still, Koko got his hand raised after hoisting up the big hillbilly for the Ghostbuster.
2. Bob Armstrong b Larry Sharpe Sharpe used a sneak attack at the bell to get the advantage, but it wasn’t long before Bullet Bob fought up and took care of business. He finished the “Pretty Boy” with his Sleeper.
3. Flying Redheads b Al Costello & Wild Red Berry With Heffernan “injured,” his place was taken by manager Red Berry. At least with Berry in the ring, it would be easier to keep an eye on him. In his younger days, Berry was a tough junior heavyweight competitor, but that was a while ago. The Redheads first took out their frustrations on Costello then turned their attention to the hated manager. Bastien got the win by pinning Berry with a flying bodypress off the top rope.
4. Diamond Dallas Page b King Kong Bundy These two just can’t seem to settle their differences. This was a quick win for DDP, who used the Diamond Dream on Bundy after interference by Rick Rude backfired.
5. Ted DiBiase & Steve Williams b Greg Valentine & Lou Albano Greg Valentine, who since his return to the area has a 7-1 record, will face Williams for the NWF Title next week. Regular partner Ivan Koloff was already signed for a singles bout, so Capt. Lou Albano substituted. Doc was all over Valentine early, but it was DiBiase trapping Albano in the Figure 4 Leglock to win the contest. Valentine was bloodied, but claims he will soon join Buddy Rogers as the only men to hold the NWF, North American and tag titles.
6. Mad Dog Vachon b Ivan Koloff After a great year, Vachon had lost 7 of his last 8 in singles, and needed a big win here. Koloff has been a top contender since his debut, but manager Lou Albano was in the locker room recovering from the tag encounter earlier. Both men had their respective chains on display, and threatened each other with them during the match. Mad Dog took control early and only had a couple of short periods where he wasn’t in charge. A big Piledriver ended Koloff’s night.
7. Harley Race & Larry Hennig b Ray Stevens & Larry Zbyszko It looks like Race & Hennig shook off whatever ring rust they had, and looked very good against Heenan’s combo. This turned into a great match, as both teams had several chances to win. After a long grueling bout, a vertical suplex by Race on Zbyszko ended it. Heenan was not happy that Zbyszko dropped the fall, even shoving Larry and yelling at him in the ring. Zbyszko was fired up, but kept his cool.
8. Nick Bockwinkel b Curt Hennig Heenan had Nick Bockwinkel announced as the “NWF’s 2007 Wrestler of the Year” in a shot at Abdullah Farouk’s claiming that The Sheik deserved the accolade. This was a match of the year candidate. Incredible action, as both men gave it everything they had. Bockwinkel completely dominated the first half of the bout, but couldn’t put Hennig away. Hennig made a huge comeback, busting Bock open in the process. Bockwinkel turned things around and got the Sleeper, but Hennig barely escaped. The see-saw battle continued, with both men bleeding. Hennig went for the Hennig-Plex, but Bockwinkel shifted his weight, got behind Curt and slapped on the Sleeper to win this classic encounter. After the bout, Heenan stood over an exhausted Hennig and said “That’s what it means to be part of the Heenan Family!”
9. North American Championship: The Sheik b Jim Duggan To answer Heenan’s barb in the previous match, Farouk had The Sheik also introduced as the “NWF’s 2007 Wrestler of the Year.” Duggan came in holding upset victories over both Curt Hennig and Harley Race, and had the “U.S.A.” chants going right away. Unlike many Sheik matches, this one started with him in control after attacking Duggan from behind before the bell. Hacksaw was busted open by Sheik‘s trusty foreign object, but wouldn’t quit. He made a big comeback and had the evil champion in trouble, but The Sheik eventually got the upper hand. A beaten Duggan got locked in the Camel Clutch as Sheik had a maniacal look on his face. The referee wound up stopping the match, as Duggan was out cold and couldn’t defend himself.
Wow! A match of the year candidite and the continuation of the Unholy Reign of Terror! Next week we're off to the Rochester War Memorial for another show! Here’s the current lineup:
* We know Ray Stevens can fight. We know Ray Stevens can drink. But can Ray Stevens boogie woogie? We’ll find out next week when the tag champ faces Jimmy Valiant in singles action!
* Both Jim Duggan and Curt Hennig suffered tough losses this week. As a result, Hennig challenged Duggan to a rematch of their November 2nd bout that saw Hacksaw emerge victorious! Can Duggan pull off a second upset win, or will this be sweet revenge for Hennig?
* Larry Zbyszko and Bobby Heenan have certainly had their problems recently, with Zbyszko claiming to be the forgotten man in the Heenan Family. Zbyszko actually went to NWF promoters himself and signed an open contract for next week! He may regret his actions, as the person who signed to face him is former 3-time NWF champ Harley Race!
* In a heartbreaking loss to NWF fans (with one notable exception) Antonino Rocca & Ilio DiPaolo have decided not to exercise their option for a rematch at the tag titles! Rocca has signed for several dates in Europe and Japan, while Ilio wants some time off to take care of some ankle problems. Still, DiPaolo said that before he leaves, he’d like to face 5-time NWF champion Nick Bockwinkel one-on-one! How can we to refuse a request like that? You’ll see that big match next week!
* DDP & Dennis Condrey will face King Kong Bundy & Ravishing Rick Rude! While DDP and Condrey aren’t close outside the ring, they certainly have been getting the job done inside the squared circle. Bundy & Rude were close to getting a title shot until being beaten by the DDP/Condrey duo, and are looking to regain a spot at the top of the tag-team heap!
* Your big main event will see Steve Williams defend the NWF Title against top contender Greg “the Hammer” Valentine! Albano is positive that his man has what it takes to beat the powerful Williams! Can the Figure 4 Leglock make Valentine the next NWF Champion?
It’s all going down next week in Rochester!

Good to hear Bock & Hennig had a great match! I'm planning on booking that someday down the line in the AWA. I'll have to get my fed results updated so I can show what I'm actually running now!
DiPaulo vs. Bock sounds like a great match too. You know where I'm putting my bets!

Card #255 – 11/23/2007 War Memorial - Rochester, NY
It’s the day after Thanksgiving, and the fan favorites are looking to beat the stuffing out of those rulebreaker turkeys! Okay, that was really bad. Anyway, we have a great show lined up with Jim Duggan looking for yet another upset win, Ilio DiPaolo’s farewell, and the NWF Title up for grabs! Let’s get to the action…
1. Bob & Brad Armstrong dq Danny Doring & Larry Sharpe The Armstrongs isolated “Pretty Boy” Larry Sharpe and worked him over. Bob had Sharpe pinned after a flying crossbody when the Riviera Playboys ran in and tore into the Armstrongs. They fought back and forth until Bob grabbed a steel chair and cleared the ring.
2. Billy “Red” Lyons b Al Costello Lyons & Red Bastien grow more furious with each attempt by the Kangaroos and Wild Red Berry to avoid a tag-team match. Lyons came in really fired up and just wore Costello out, busting him open and winning with the Sleeper. This was the second stellar singles performance by Lyons, who took Roy Heffernan apart two weeks ago.
3. Jimmy Valiant b Ray Stevens This bout gains some importance as Valiant and Mad Dog Vachon have been awarded the next tag title shot. When Rocca & DiPaolo announced they would not be exercising their right to a return match, NWF officials chose Vachon & Valiant, who started 2007 slow, but have been on a tear lately. When Valiant and Stevens have met before, they always seem to have great brawls, and this was no exception. Stevens kept trying for the Bombs Away, but Valiant would move or roll out of the ring. The Boogie Woogie Man finally locked in his Sleeper for the victory.
4. S.D. Jones & Cousin Luke b Riviera Playboys This was an excellent match, although Sherri Martel may dispute that claim. Great showing for Cousin Luke, who used his brute strength to overpower Rose & Koko. It didn’t hurt having the Armstrongs show up mid-way through the match and cause all kinds of chaos. Bullet Bob even busted Buddy Rose open while the ref was distracted. A crazy bout that ended when Luke hit the Hillbilly Drop on a bloody Rose.
5. Jim Duggan b Curt Hennig Lightning can strike twice! Hacksaw bounces back after his loss to The Sheik to get his second clean win over Hennig. Add the earlier win over Harley Race and Duggan is clearly on a roll! This win came partly due to backfired interference from Larry Hennig. After finally breaking the Top 10 rankings, Curt has lost four straight, and was very frustrated after the bell.
6. Harley Race b Larry Zbyszko Notably absent from ringside was Bobby Heenan, who was helping prep Nick Bockwinkel for his big match later in the show. The self-proclaimed “Living Legend” was on his own, but started strong. The double tough Race kept making comebacks and throwing suplexes. After some very good back and forth action, Race hit his third Piledriver of the match for the win.
7. Diamond Dallas Page & Dennis Condrey dq King Kong Bundy & Rick Rude This was a quick DQ. Bundy went wild on Condrey outside the ring, Avalanching him into the ring post while DDP was busy with Rude. Condrey seemed to be looking for help, not realizing his partner was on the opposite side of the ring.
8. Nick Bockwinkel b Ilio DiPaolo DiPaolo will be taking some time off to rest an ankle injury, but requested a match against Nick Bockwinkel, as the two have never met in singles competition. Bobby Heenan is now having Bockwinkel introduced as the “NWF’s 2007 Wrestler of the Year” before every match. Ilio made a good showing, but the former 5-time NWF champ was just too much. The popular Italian star managed to survive the Bockwinkel Sleeper on several occasions before finally falling victim to the Figure 4 Leglock. In a rare show of sportsmanship, Bockwinkel gave Ilio a quick (if somewhat reluctant) handshake after the bell.
9. NWF Championship: Steve Williams dq Greg Valentine Not a lengthy main event. Valentine earned the title shot with his 7-1 record since returning to the area. Manager Lou Albano is telling everyone who will listen that Valentine will be the next NWF champ. The Hammer struggled with the power of Williams, but managed to get the champ tangled in the ropes. Albano tossed his protégé Williams’ title belt, and Valentine drilled Doc right between the eyes for the DQ. As Valentine posed with the belt, Williams untangled himself and chased Valentine from the ring.
The Playboys and Armstrongs just can’t get along! Steve Williams tore up the locker room after getting clobbered by his own title belt, and is looking to make Valentine pay for his actions! With November winding down, you know that the SUPERBOWL OF WRESTLING 5 is just around the corner! Next week we head to the Great White North and the Memorial Coliseum! Here’s the current lineup:
* The battles with DDP & Condrey against Bundy & Rude keep rolling next week as the four meet in singles matches! Page draws former partner Bundy, and the matches between those two have been very heated and neither man has a decisive edge in the outcomes! Ravishing Rick Rude gets tough Dennis Condrey. Despite being what DDP termed a “tag specialist,” Condrey has more than held his own in singles action!
* We have the rescheduled first meeting of the Flying Redheads and Fabulous Kangaroos! Last week the alleged “injury” to Roy Heffernan postponed the match yet again. Wild Red Berry has done a masterful job of avoiding the Redheads since he and his team came to the area. Next week, the teams finally meet!
* Larry Zbyszko will face Curt Hennig in what proves to be an interesting bout. Heenan had tried recruiting Hennig for many months. Zbyszko has been unhappy with the way he’s been utilized by Heenan lately, which has led to hard feelings by Heenan. This is a big opportunity for Zbyszko to get back in Bobby’s good graces by taking Hennig out of the picture! It’s also a chance for Hennig to stop his recent slide and knock the Heenan Family down a peg!
* After the DQ decision this week, Steve Williams and Greg Valentine will be on opposite sides of the ring again next week, but this time in a tag-team match as Ted DiBiase and Ivan Koloff join the mix! Will Lou Albano’s tandem become the first team to defeat DiBiase & Williams?
* Jim Duggan is having a heckuva run! With a victory over Harley Race and two more over Curt Hennig, the Hacksaw has become a real fan favorite! Next week, Harley Race looks for a little redemption! Can he succeed where Hennig failed and finally put Duggan’s shoulders down?
* Your big main event will see Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens making the first defense of their newly won NWF tag titles as they face Mad Dog Vachon & Jimmy Valiant! Valiant made an impact this week beating Stevens! Can he and Vachon defeat the red hot Heenan Family combo?
Put on your toques and grab a donut, eh! It’s our last visit to Canada in 2007 as we end November in Niagara Falls, Ontario!

It’s the day after Thanksgiving, and the fan favorites are looking to beat the stuffing out of those rulebreaker turkeys! Okay, that was really bad That WAS really bad! Bock's handshake goes to show that despite his nefarious ways, he's still a class act. Were you reliving the Backlund/Valentine angle when Valentine was trying on the NWF belt? Looking forward to the Kangaroos and Redheads finally getting in the ring! Put on your toques and grab a donut, eh! It’s our last visit to Canada in 2007 as we end November in Niagara Falls, Ontario! A tuque (Canadian French: tuque, sometimes also spelled toque or touque in English) is a knitted hat, originally of wool though now often of synthetic fibers, that is designed to provide warmth in winter. All tuques are tapered, and they often are topped with a pom-pon. Tuques may have a folded brim, or none, and may be worn tightly fitting the skull or loose on top although the latter is considered more standard. The tuque usually is considered Canada's national winter hat, much like the fur hat is in Russia.

Why do I think that Al Costello being busted open and the subsequent injuries will keep him out of action next week. I got a hunch...

Card #256 – 11/30/2007 Memorial Coliseum – Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada
We’re closing out November in the Great White North as we head towards the biggest supercard of the year, the 5th annual SUPERBOWL OF WRESTLING in Pittsburgh! Unfortunately, tonight’s card had to be changed as the result of another Kangaroo “injury” to the team, thus putting the kibosh on the first Redheads/Kangaroos meeting. Still, we’ve got great action lined up including a big tag-team title defense! Let’s get to the action…
1. S.D. Jones b Larry Sharpe S.D. came out strong against Danny Doring’s new tag-team partner. At one point, Doring tried to interfere, but Jones did a unique noggin knocker, ramming both men into his own head! He followed up with a suplex on Sharpe to get the win.
2. Flying Redheads b Roy Heffernan & Wild Red Berry Yet another non-match between the Redheads and Kangaroos. This time, Wild Red Berry claimed Al Costello was “injured” training for the match. Bastien had some early problems with Heffernan, but Lyons turned things around. Eventually, Lyons got the pinfall on Berry using an atomic drop. The first Redheads/Kangaroos tag meeting has been moved to the 12/14 show in Youngstown.
3. Brad Armstrong b Koko B. Ware It was a good week for the Armstrongs. Bullet Bob was notified that his 8-4 singles record has earned him a title shot at The Sheik next week! Then Brad picked up the win here against Koko in a really good match, as the Armstrongs/Riviera Playboys feud rages on. There was a good sequence where Sherri Martel was causing havoc, and Bob came to the ring with a baseball bat! That allowed Brad to get a near fall with the Russian Legsweep. The referee ejected both Sherri and Bullet, and Bob chased Sherri all the way to the locker room. Brad got the win a short while later with the Russian Legsweep.
4. Rick Rude b Dennis Condrey DDP wasn’t at ringside with Condrey, choosing to prep for his match with Bundy. In their last meeting, Condrey gave Rude fits, but things didn’t go his way tonight. A quick distraction at the bell by Bundy gave Rude an advantage he didn’t relinquish. To make a point, the Ravishing One hit three straight Rude Awakenings to get the victory.
5. Diamond Dallas Page b King Kong Bundy Another big win for DDP, who controlled most of the action. Bundy survived an early Diamond Cutter, and was saved by Rude on a Diamond Dream. Finally, DDP got the win with a big discus clothesline. With Condrey being tended to in the trainer’s room, Bundy & Rude took advantage of the opportunity and double-teamed Page. It looks like the injury prone DDP suffered a neck injury.
6. Greg Valentine & Ivan Koloff b Ted DiBiase & Steve Williams Big win for Albano’s duo, as they become the first team with a win over DiBiase & Williams. Valentine was very aggressive and busted Doc open early. Koloff got a couple of near falls on DiBiase, but it was Valentine who polished Ted off with his patented elbow hammer. A great confidence builder (like he needed it) for Valentine who will get a rematch against Williams for the NWF Title in two weeks.
7. Harley Race b Jim Duggan Maybe Duggan’s upset ability is nullified when he leaves the United States. There were no “U.S.A.” chants tonight, as Hacksaw’s rematch with Race didn’t go as well as his rematch with Curt Hennig. Race was very serious and focused, and it showed. Race got a near fall with his first Piledriver of the night, but it was the second one that did Duggan in.
8. Larry Zbyszko b Curt Hennig Heenan was at ringside for Zbyszko, but spent much of the bout jawing at Hennig about Curt rebuffing the offers to join the Heenan Family. Zbyszko, who has had his ups and downs (mostly downs) with Heenan lately, told the Brain “Hey, you’re supposed to be my manager, not his!” After a strategic match with not much action, Zbyszko nailed Hennig with a Piledriver. Hennig got his foot on the ropes, but Heenan knocked it off, allowing Zbyszko to get the win. After showing a lot of promise, Hennig drops his 5th straight decision.
9. NWF Tag-Team Championship: Mad Dog Vachon & Jimmy Valiant dq Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens This was the first title defense for Bockwinkel & Stevens. Heenan is still having Bockwinkel announced as “NWF’s 2007 Wrestler of the Year.” Crowd was especially riled up, as despite his Algerian heritage, they love Vachon in Canada. The champions looked sharp, and were doing a lot of damage, but neither Mad Dog nor Valiant has any quit in them. The finish was crazy and came out of nowhere. The Sheik and manager Abdullah Farouk showed up and were after Bockwinkel! Valiant was in their way and got smashed with Sheik’s North American Title belt, which caused a DQ, but the action wasn’t over. Both Heenan and Farouk feel their respective charge is a lock for the prestigious NWF Wrestler of the Year award, and have been very vocal about it. Once Sheik got on the ring, he went right at Bockwinkel, and both men landed a couple of shots before security hit the ring and broke everything up.
Crazy! Never before has the Wrestler of the Year award provoked such hostility. The 2006 voting came down to Sheik and Bockwinkel as well, with the Syrian madman getting a narrow victory. We’ll have to wait and see how things play out, but there are more immediate things to consider – like next week’s show in Buffalo to kick off December! Here’s the current lineup:
* With his father in the main event, Brad Armstrong will team with friend S.D. Jones to face Sherri Martel’s Riviera Playboys! Special Delivery was the man who brought Armstrong to the area. Now the two will team again as the feisty Armstrong clan just can’t seem to get rid of the Playboys!
* The “injury” to Al Costello must not have been too serious (shocking!) as the captain of the Kangaroo team returns to face Billy “Red” Lyons in singles action!
* Ted DiBiase & Steve Williams will team again after taking their first loss earlier tonight! They’ll face Williams’ next challenger Greg Valentine and former Albano protégé Ravishing Rick Rude! Rude left the Albano stable on good terms, and with both Ivan Koloff and King Kong Bundy signed for singles matches, returns to the fold for a night! DiBiase & Williams will do their best to ruin the reunion next week!
* As mentioned Koloff and Bundy have singles matches signed! Not surprisingly, Bundy will face the man he injured here tonight, former tag partner Diamond Dallas Page! Koloff will meet Mad Dog Vachon in a battle of chain swinging brawlers!
* Larry Zbyszko claims to be the “red-headed stepchild” of the Heenan Family, but he’ll be getting some attention next week as he teams with manager Bobby Heenan against Larry & Curt Hennig! Curt has been taking singles matches of late, as his father has been teaming more and more with Harley Race. After breaking into the Top 10 Rankings, Curt hasn’t been too successful. “The Axe” hopes that teaming will get Curt back on track, while also giving the big man a chance to get his hands on Bobby Heenan!
* Your big main event will see The Sheik defend his North American Title against Bullet Bob Armstrong! Armstrong has the support of the locker room, but that won’t help once that dreaded foreign object makes an appearance! Everyone knows Bob is tough as nails, but Sheik is on another great run as champion! Can the Bullet blow the roof off The Aud by winning the North American Title?
Next week will also bring a big (really big) announcement about SUPERBOWL OF WRESTLING 5, so wear your woolen knit caps and spring for the extra large beer (it is the best value) – we’ll see you at The Aud!

I knew the Kangaroos would pull that crap. You knowthey'll pull something off on 12/14 as wel. This first match is bound to happen at the Superbowl of Wrestling. When is the SBOW5 anyway? Bullet Bob has no chance...how did he get a top ranking anyway...I guess the championship committee doesn't look at tag records. My vote for Wrestler of the Year is Bock. Maybe those 2 should have a match the SBOW5 to decide this once and for all.

Looks like the Superbowl of Wrestling may help decide Wrestler of The Year...A scenario that I am seeing is that Bockwinkel wins the award and challenges the Sheik for the NA Title. Farouk is reluctant to do so, but forces Bockwinkel to bet the award for a title shot...Anyway that it happens, I will be on the lookout.
I had the Kangaroos and Redheads square off in my fed, and they had some AWESOME matches. Some of my best and memorable tag-team matches and hope the delay pays off for you!
Great fed!

Although I'm not much of an interactive booker, I will probably do a poll for Wrestler of the Year and Tag-Team of the Year. I'll run down the major accomplishments and annual stats for the contenders. I can't say I'll go with the result, but it will be considered.
WOTY is between Bockwinkel and Sheik, with Williams probably third. TTOTY is about a five or six team tossup.
I'll set up the polls before SUPERBOWL 5 (Card #260 on 12/28), post the links here and see what happens.
TM - Bob Armstrong has an 8-4 singles record, which ain't too shabby. My home computer died, and it had my monthy rankings info, which is why I haven't posted the mointhly rankings for a while. The Armstrongs record as a team stunk until they finally turned things around in October.
Thanks to everyone for reading!

Card #257 – 12/07/2007 The Aud – Buffalo, NY
You can tell we’re getting closer to the SUPERBOWL OF WRESTLING because everything is heating up! Last week saw the surprise Bockwinkel/Sheik confrontation, and this week has a lot of hot matches as well! Let’s get to the action…
1. Danny Doring cor Cousin Luke The ongoing struggle for undercard supremacy sees Doring take the victory. He duped the simple-minded hillbilly into chasing him around the ring, then dove back in the ring just beating the 10 count.
2. Riviera Playboys b Brad Armstrong & S.D. Jones With Bob in the main event, Brad turned to S.D. Jones for help against the Playboys. Rose & Koko gave each of the favorites a beating using all sorts of illegal tactics. The lack of teamwork hurt Brad & S.D. who couldn’t sustain any offense. Rose pinned Brad with the Bombs Away for the win.
3. Al Costello dq Billy “Red” Lyons Costello makes a miraculous return from “injury” to face Lyons. Continued interference from Wild Red Berry brought an outraged Red Bastien from the locker room. Bastien sent Berry flying then used an Atomic Drop on Costello in the ring, resulting in the DQ. Heffernan ran in as well, but the Redheads got the best of the exchange.
4. King Kong Bundy b Diamond Dallas Page DDP has become the new Jimmy Snuka, in that he’s always the target of enemy attacks and seems to be constantly injured. He finally broke into the Top 10 rankings in November, and this loss will likely knock him back out. DDP could have used Condrey at ringside, as Page was in trouble most of the bout and was pinned with a running powerslam.
5. Larry & Curt Hennig b Larry Zbyszko & Bobby Heenan This was a wild match, with a lot of time spent with Larry Hennig pounding on Heenan. Zbyszko started the bout, but once he tagged out, he never allowed himself to be tagged back in. Zbyszko and Heenan have had a lot of problems, but this seemed to be Larry’s way to pay back his manager. Curt was a little reluctant to continue beating on the downed manager, but his father had no such problem. Larry Hennig pinned Heenan with The Axe to end it. After the bell, Zbyszko started slapping Heenan around, telling him that he was officially leaving the Family. He picked Heenan up for a Piledriver, but Nick Bockwinkel & Ray Stevens ran in, causing Zbyszko to bail out.
That’s a shocking way to go to an intermission, but you never know what will happen in the NWF! Well, one thing we DO know will happen is SUPERBOWL 5, and the promised “big” announcement was made as fans readied themselves for the second half of the show. In a special attraction, Andre the Giant will make a return appearance to the area! His opponent will be the man who claims to be wrestling’s true giant - the 6’10” Big John Studd! It’s lucky we’re in the steel belt, because we’re going to need to reinforce the ring for this “gigantic” match!
6. Ray Stevens b Jimmy Valiant This was the usual great brawl between these two. Stevens was working Valiant over when The Sheik snuck out and blasted Nick Bockwinkel’s tag partner with the North American title belt while the referee was distracted by Bobby Heenan. Luckily for Stevens, the resulting chaos gave him time to recover and win the match with the Bombs Away.
7. Mad Dog Vachon dq Ivan Koloff Koloff had Albano back at ringside after the manager was unavailable when Ivan lost to Vachon on November 16th. This was a long bout where Albano’s distractions allowed Koloff to use his Russian chains on numerous occasions. The chains busted Mad Dog open, but Vachon was hitting some big moves as well. Finally, the ref caught Ivan blasting Vachon with the Russian chains for the DQ.
8. Ted DiBiase & Steve Williams b Greg Valentine & Rick Rude Former Albano protégé Ravishing Rick Rude agreed to team with Valentine. He had some issues with Williams in the recent past, which helped with the decision. Match was sheer dominance by Doc & DiBiase. It wound up with DiBiase using a long Figure 4 Leglock to get the win over Rude. Valentine is still touting himself as the next NWF champion.
9. North American Championship: The Sheik ddq Bob Armstrong The second wild match of the night. Sheik used his object right away, but the rest of the match was entirely Armstrong. Perhaps Bullet was looking to avenge his son’s beating at the hands of The Sheik back in June. Bob just tore the champion apart. With Armstrong on the brink of victory, the craziness began. Nick Bockwinkel ran in and jumped on The Sheik! At nearly the same time, the Riviera Playboys ran in and blindsided Armstrong! The referee threw the match out, and Brad Armstrong joined the fray as well before all sorts of security hit the ring to finally restore order.
Yikes! This show was insane! The Heenan Family is in turmoil! The Sheik and Bockwinkel are at odds over the 2007 Wrestler of the Year award! What’s going to happen next week in Youngstown? Here’s the current lineup:
* Okay, we’ll say that PERHAPS next week will see the first tag-team meeting of the Flying Redheads and the Fabulous Kangaroos! After the stuff that Wild Red Berry has been coming up with lately, who knows what’s going to happen? NWF officials are not happy about billing matches that don’t happen, and are keeping a watchful eye on the situation! We’ll see if the Kangaroos can make it to Youngstown injury free!
* It’s not quite time for “Ho Ho Ho”, but it is time for “Hoooooooo!” as Hacksaw Jim Duggan makes his way to Stambaugh Auditorium! He’ll have a tough task ahead of him as he tackles big Larry Hennig!
* It’s the Armstrongs versus the Riviera Playboys in the feud that won’t die! These teams have spent a majority of 2007 battling one another tooth and nail! The Playboys and wily manager Sherri Martel got the best of things until the Armstrongs decided to fight fire with fire! Now, it’s the Armstrongs who hold the upper hand going into this tag encounter! No matter the outcome, you can bet that these two teams will meet yet again at SUPERBOWL 5 to determine a final victor!
* Although they have some NWF history as allies, Harley Race and Ted DiBiase won’t be shaking hands when they get in the ring for singles action next week! These two veterans of the mat game have put up some good numbers in 2007. DiBiase’s only loss of the year was by countout to The Sheik. Race’s only loss was the upset by Jim Duggan, which he has since avenged. This one could steal the show!
* A shocking turn of events this week saw Larry Zbyszko get the best of the Heenan Family! Can he do it again next week when he teams with former rival Curt Hennig to face Ray Stevens & Bobby Heenan?
* Your big main event will see Steve “Dr. Death” Williams defend the NWF Title against Greg “the Hammer” Valentine! Williams picked up the DQ win last time, but these two are both looking for a decisive win in this encounter! Capt. Lou Albano is saying that Valentine is destined to be the next NWF champ – has Albano seen the future, or is this just another one of his crackpot promos?
An update on SUPERBOWL 5 and more great NWF action is on the way next week in Youngstown!

Are the Roos ever going to fight the Redheads? Berry has to run out of excuses sooner or later. This longtime AWA fan cannot accept Larry Z. as a face, he's much too crabby! I'll have to cheer for the Heenan Family in this one.

It's good the NWF doesn't offer refunds when the card line-up changes. Those evil 'Roos and Berry!
Seriously, I do like the creative ways you've come up with to hold off on their first two-on-two meeting.
That main event sounded like a wild match!
Great stuff as usual, Tim!

*** NWF BREAKING NEWS *** SUPERBOWL OF WRESTLING UPDATE!! With Ivan Koloff creating all sorts of havoc with his Russian chains of late, it was only a matter of time before someone took him to task. That someone is also a chain wielding madman - Mad Dog Vachon! Since becoming a fan favorite, Vachon has toned down the use of his chains, but is ready to fire them up again! He recently challenged Koloff to an Algerian Chain Match at SUPERBOWL 5! Koloff countered, saying he wants a Russian Chain Match! This has led to heated debates about the various qualities and properties of Russian and Algerian steel. The NWF has approved the match for SB5, and on Card #259, the annual " Road to the Superbowl" show, there will be a coin toss to determine which chains are used!
