Major League Wrestling (MLW) AWA Preview for July 26
Following Major League Wrestling's draft and division into 2 separate brands (see above post for this thread), the AWA brand starts up this week! Here is the AWA's current roster divided into its faces and heels:
Faces Antonino Rocca Bobo Brazil Killer Bees Larry Hennig Curt Hennig Jim Londos Mil Mascaras Jimmy Snuka The Crusher Hacksaw Jim Duggan Yukon Eric Cousin Luke Playboy Buddy Rose Koko B. Ware S.D. Jones Iron Mike DiBiase Ida Mae Martinez
Heels Bobby Heenan and the Heenan Family: World Champion Nick Bockwinkel, King Kong Bundy, and Ox Baker Nikita Breznikov and the Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff Don Muraco Ray Stevens Larry Zbyszko Gorgeous George Cowboy Bob Orton Jr. The Vachons Cassandra (from COTG) and the Heart Thrashers (Brutus Beefcake and Buff Bagwell) The Missing Link Sherri Martel Captain Lou Albano
Because both the World Tag Team Champions Midnight Express and the United States Tag Team Champions the Valentines were drafted into Major League Wrestling's NWA brand, Major League Wrestling (MLW) owner and general manager Bruno Sammartino has declared that the AWA brand will begin its history this week with an 8 man tag team tournament to decide the tag team champions of the AWA brand. Sammartino has further declared that this new tag team title will be officially known as the MLW Tag Team Championship.
Here are the 8 teams participating in this week's tag team tournament: 1. Killer Bees 2. Vachons 3. Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff 4. Double Axe Attack (the Hennigs) 5. Yukon Eric and Cousin Luke 6. Heart Thrashers (Beefcake and Bagwell) 7. King Kong Bundy and Ox Baker 8. Don Muraco and Cowboy Bob Orton Jr.
Because Bob Orton Jr. was a former United States Tag Team Champion along with Richard Hutton as the popular Regulators in Major League Wrestling, Sammartino allowed Orton Jr to choose any partner he wanted for the tournament. But fans, already upset with Orton Jr.'s shocking abandonment of Hutton at the Great American Bash earlier this month following their loss of the United States Tag Team Championship to the Valentines, will likely be further dismayed by his selection of notorious rule breaker Don Muraco as his tag team partner for the tournament.
Also, with Nick Bockwinkel retaining his World Championship after being drafted into the AWA, the Heenan Family has the opportunity to hold all of the gold in the AWA if Bundy and Baker can win Wednesday's tournament. Will all 3 members of the Heenan family indeed be wearing gold at the tournament's conclusion?
In addition to the tag team tournament, Wednesday's AWA show will include an episode of the Hot Seat with newcomer Larry Zbyszko as the guest. Finally, between the Semifinal and Final Rounds of the tag team tournament, a #1 contenders matchup between Antonino Rocca and Jim Londos is scheduled. The winner of the Rocca-Londos match will take on World Champion Nick Bockwinkel in a title match in the main event for next week's first-ever edition of AWA:RAW!
The AWA begins Wednesday July 26 with the tag team tournament to decide the MLW Tag Team Champions!

Major League Wrestling (MLW) NWAPreview for July 27-29 Following Major League Wrestling's draft and division into 2 separate brands, the NWA brand starts up this week! Here is the NWA's current roster divided into its faces and heels: FacesFrank Gotch Road Warriors Giant Baba Dan Severn "Wild" Red Berry and the Fabulous Kangaroos Diamond Dallas Page Ted DiBiase (Legends Teams card) Danny Hodge The Armstrongs Johnny Valiant Richard Hutton Billy "Red" Lyons Boogie Woogie Man Virgil HeelsMaxine Babe (from COTG) and the Horsemen: United States Champion Buddy Rogers and United States Tag Team Champions the Valentines Killer Kowalski Jim Cornette and the World Tag Team Champions Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane) Harley Race Bruiser Brody Rick Rude Steve Williams Ivan Koloff Bob Orton Sr. Phantasy (from COTG) Sandman Justin Credible Steve Corino Dennis Condrey The Terrible Turk "Precious" Paul Ellering. Because World Champion Nick Bockwinkel was drafted into the AWA brand, the NWA brand has no current champion. As a result, Major League Wrestling (MLW) owner and general manager Bruno Sammartino has declared that the NWA brand will begin this week with a 3 day 24 man tournament to determine its champion. In addition, Sammartino has declared that this new title will be officially called the MLW Championship. The tournament will begin this week on Thursday and conclude on Saturday. For a complete list of all 24 wrestlers participating in the tournament: please see the following link where you can also cast your vote for which wrestler you predict will become the first-ever MLW Champion: cotg.proboards12.com/index.cgi?board=pollsforlow&action=display&thread=1153814026Will United States Champion Buddy Rogers win the tournament and thus become BOTH the MLW Champion and the United States Champion? Will Frank Gotch, the NWA's first pick in last week's MLW draft, justify his high selection by winning the tournament? Will Harley Race, long denied a title shot in Major League Wrestling because former fellow Heenan Family member Nick Bockwinkel held the World Championship, rise to this long-awaited championship opportunity? Or perhaps will one of the newly-signed wrestlers such as Rude, Brody, or DiBiase be the last of the 24 competitors still standing on Saturday? As always, MLW Spokesman Splatter says: "Major League Wrestling (MLW). Don't you DARE miss it!"

After thinking really hard about it, I decided I really wanted to keep all my fed results under my original thread here for Major League Westling.
I still have the brand split going for Major League Wrestling, but instead of separating the brands by threads, I decided to just separate them by name and color code at the top of each post. Shows for my AWA brand of Major League Wrestling will say AWA in red at the top of their posts. Shows for my NWA brand of Major League Wrestling will say NWA in blue at the top of their posts.
Since the two brands make up 1 fed, I just decided to keep things all at 1 thread.

Major League Wrestling (MLW) AWA Wednesday July 26, @ Thomas & Mack in Las Vegas, NV (First Half of the Show)
Start of Show: Major League Wrestling owner and general manager Bruno Sammartino is in the ring and thanks all the fans of Major League Wrestling (MLW) for their patience this month while MLW was busy signing enough wrestlers to double its roster and reorganizing itself into its brand split. Sammartino assures the crowd that Major League Wrestling will NOT have another hiatus until the holidays at the end of the year and even then there will be an award ceremony celebrating the accomplishments of various MLW wrestlers and managers. But until then it is full speed ahead with twice as many shows per week as before with MLW's 2 brands! Sammartino finishes by saying it is time to start tonight's tournament and crown the first-ever MLW Tag Team Champions!
FIRST ROUND/QUARTER FINALS
Match #1: Yukon Eric and Cousin Luke vs Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff (managed by Nikita Breznikov.
Except for some periodic but only brief offensive comebacks, the Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff (former United States Tag Team Champions) controlled the majority of this match. The Iron Sheik repeatedly struck both Yukon Eric and Cousin Luke with his loaded boot to wear them down. The end came when Volkoff threw Cousin Luke out of the ring. Volkoff also went out onto the floor and slammed Cousin Luke threw a table before rolling him back into the ring. Volkoff then delivered his BACKBREAKER DROP on Cousin Luke for the victory. Winners: Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff
Match #2: Vachons vs Don Muraco and Cowboy Bob Orton Jr. Although both tag teams in this First Round match up were rule breakers, the fans particularly booed former fan favorite Orton Jr. who had recently abandoned his former tag team partner Richard Hutton when the two of them were the Regulators at the Great American Bash earlier this month in a match that saw the Valentines capture the United States Tag Team Championship. The match started with Muraco offering to shake Butcher Vachon's hand. Vachon went for the handshake only to have to catch/block a surprise kick from Muraco instead. Butcher Vachon then responded with a headlock and a thumb to the eye of Muraco. This match turned extremely vicious as the two teams of heels proceeded to batter away at each other. But the end came when Butch Vachon put Muraco away with a HANGMAN. Winners: Vachons
Match #3: Killer Bees vs the Heart Thrashers (Brutus Beefcake and Buff Bagwell managed by Cassandra from COTG). In an excellent and exciting tag team match, the Heart Thrashers won when Bagwell pinned Jim Brunzell via the BUFF BLOCKBUSTER. Winners: Heart Thrashers (Beefcake and Bagwell)
Match #4: Double Axe Attack (the Hennigs) vs King Kong Bundy and Ox Baker (managed by Bobby Heenan)
Before the match started, Heenan got on the microphone and arrogantly told the crowd that he just saw the Killer Bees lose to the Heart Thrashers in the last match and that the real "Killer Bs" are his men here Bundy and Baker. Heenan then brags to the crowd that he already manages World Champion Nick Bockwinkel and that after Bundy and Baker win this tournament to become the MLW Tag Team Champions that all of the gold in the AWA will then belong to the Heenan Family. Finally, Heenan announces that with Harley Race being drafted into the NWA brand, that the Heenan Family is now looking to add members but "scum" like the Double Axe Attack here need not apply.
In an angry response to Heenan's words, Larry Hennig took a menacing step toward Heenan with a clenched fist only to be leveled from behind by Baker and the match is on! Despite the planned ambush by Heenan, Baker, and Bundy, the Double Axe Attack fought back and looked great in their MLW debut match. Curt Henning in particular impressed the Las Vegas crowd with his repeated standing dropkicks and running knee lifts to both Bundy and Baker and amazed everyone in attendance by executing a HENNIG PLEX to Bundy. Bundy kicked out at the two count but Curt tagged in his father Larry who delivered an impressive body slam followed by a double forearm hammer to Bundy. Larry Hennig then threw Bundy into the ropes and prepared to deliver a backbreaker drop to Bundy. But Bundy managed to grab Larry Hennig's head instead and deliver a pile driver. As Larry Hennig grabbed the turnbuckle to stagger to his feet, Bundy then nailed him with an AVALANCHE for the three count victory.
Winners: King Kong Bundy and Ox Baker
After Bundy recorded the three count, Baker ran over and knocked Curt Hennig off the apron. Under Heenan's directions, Baker and Bundy proceeded to double team Larry Hennig who was still down on the mat. Before leaving, Heenan told Larry Hennig that is what he gets for trying to hit him at the start of the match. Medical personnel have to come out and carry Larry Hennig back to the locker room.
This is the end of the First Half of the MLW tag Team Championship Tournament. The Second Half will be posted next!

Major League Wrestling (MLW) AWA Wednesday July 26, @ Thomas & Mack in Las Vegas, NV (Second Half of the Show, First Half is posted above)
Following the commercial break, the Second Half of the MLW Tag Team Championship tournament is set to resume!
SECOND ROUND/QUARTERFINALS
Match #5: Vachons vs Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff (managed by Nikita Breznikov)
In the first match of the second round, the Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff advanced to the finals when the Iron Sheik made Mad Dog Vachon submit to his CAMEL CLUTCH.
Winners: Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff
Match #6: The Heart Thrashers (managed by Cassandra) vs King Kong Bundy and Ox Baker (managed by Bobby Heenan).
In another match between two rule breaking tag teams, the action shifted back and forth as both sides scored several near pinfalls against their opponents. But the momentum turned for good when Curt Hennig suddenly arrived at ringside and distracted Bundy and Baker. As Baker turned around to yell threats at Curt Hennig, Beefcake nailed the Heenan Family's "problem solver" with a studded forearm smash for the pinfall victory. Curt Hennig then walked back to the locker room smiling at the Heenan Family after helping cause their defeat by his interference to exact some revenge for them injuring his father in the previous round. To the delight of sports books throughout Las Vegas, the Heart Thrashers have surprisingly made their way to the finals!
Winners: Heart Thrashers (Beefcake and Bagwell)
The Hot Seat: Larry Zbyszko is the guest.
Apter: "I would like to welcome my guest Larry Zbyszko here to the AWA brand of Major League Wrestling.":
Zbyszko (Handing over a paper to Apter): "Actually, I am going to give you this memo."
Apter (reading the memo): "What! I am being replaced?"
Zbyszko: "That's right. From now on the Hot Seat will only be shown on the NWA brand of Major League Wrestling because something better is going to replace you Bill Apter here on the AWA brand."
Apter: "What is going to replace me each week on the AWA?"
Zbyszko: " A weekly interview segment called Larry Land hosted by me, the Living Legend, Larry Z. Now get off of my set!"
Apter leaves.
Zbyszko (looking to the cameras with a smirk): "Next week, and every week after here on the AWA brand, it will be welcome to Larry Land."
Match #7: Antonino Rocca vs Jim Londos in a #1 contender's match.
In between the Second/Semifinal and Final Rounds, Rocca is taking on Londos- a newcomer to MLW- for the right to face World Champion Nick Bockwinkel in a title match in the main event of next week's show! Before the match started the two fan favorites shook hands. Rocca started off in control almost pinned Londos twice. But Londos was able to battle back and twice nearly made Rocca submit to his BOSTON CRAB. Later in the match, Londos threw Rocca out of the ring and Rocca just manged to roll back in at the count of 9. But right as Rocca reentered the ring, Londos grabbed him and performed his AIRPLANE SPIN for the victory and the right to challenge World Champion Nick Bockwinkel in a title match next week! After having his hand raised in victory, Londos shakes Rocca's hand once again.
Winner: Jim Londos
Final Round
Match #8: Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff (managed by Nikita Breznikov) vs the Heart Thrashers (managed by Cassandra).
The Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff appeared on their way to becoming the first MLW Tag Team Champions as they had things completely under control for almost the entire match. Toward the end of the match, Volkoff threw Bagwell into the ropes and the result was a double clothesline as both Volkoff and Bagwell crumpled to the floor. Bagwell managed to stagger to his feet first and, seemingly out of nowhere, suddenly hit Volkoff with a double arm DDT for the surprising upset pinfall victory to win the tournament and the MLW Tag Team Championship! Cassandra screams wildly and repeatedly as the referee awards the MLW Tag Team Championship belts to Beefcake and Bagwell!
Winners of the match, the tournament, and the MLW Tag Team Championship: the Heart Thrashers Cassandra, Beefcake, and Bagwell continue to celebrate their newly won championship as the show ends and the screen fades to black.
Remember to check back here tomorrow as MLW's NWA brand has the First Round of its 24 man tournament to decide the first-ever MLW Champion!

Wow Stephen, the Heart Thrashers?! Very cool, and a huge upset IMO... Good to see a team other than the norm win the gold.
Great fed by the way, I look forward to reading more.

Great tournament! I never would have picked the Heart Thrashers to win this thing.
Just out of curiosity, will you still be using the Hot Seat chart for the Larry Land segments? Or will you be making a Larry Legend specific chart?

Slymm, Neil, and Behindthebook,
Thank you for the nice words. It was the first show I was able to do in almost a month due to my recent travel schedule and I am really glad to be able to play my Major League Wrestling fed full time once again!
I was also surprised the Heart Thrashers won the tournament because I did not think the dice would let them get past the Killer Bees in the First Round. Most of the great tag teams are in my NWA brand, but I think my AWA brand still has enough quality tag teams (such as the Vachons, Killer Bees, Double Axe Attack, Heart Thrashers, Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff) to have their own tag team champions so I had the tournament.
That is a good question about a chart for my Larry Land segments. I will need to think about it because Larry Land will be starting up on my next AWA televised show (AWA:RAW).
Thanks again for the feedback!

Major League Wrestling (MLW) NWA
Thursday July 27, @ Thomas & Mack in Las Vegas, NV
Today the NWA brand of Major League Wrestling (MLW) begins its history with the First Round of the 24 man tournament to decide the first-ever MLW Champion! 16 of the 24 wrestlers in the tournament will compete in tonight's First Round. United States Champion Buddy Rogers, Frank Gotch, Harley Race, Giant Baba, Dan Severn, Rick Rude, Bruiser Brody, and Ted DiBiase (Legends Teams card) have received an automatic bye into tomorrow's Second Round.
Start of Show: A woman, who is a newcomer to Major League Wrestling (MLW), is standing alone in the ring with a microphone. She introduces herself as Phantasy (from COTG) and says that she watched the AWA brand's MLW Tag Team Championship tournament last night and says if that "tramp" Cassandra (from COTG) can guide a team like the Heart Thrashers (Beefcake and Bagwell) to a tag team championship then there is no reason a woman of her abilities can not do the same over here in the NWA brand. Phantasy declares she also wants to hold tag team gold like Cassandra and that she will be scouting the competitors in this tournament for men who have the talent to fulfill her desire.
First Round
Match #1: Richard Hutton vs Dennis Condrey.
Before the match, Hutton grabbed the microphone and said that his former tag team partner Cowboy Bob Orton Jr, after turning on him at the Great American Bash earlier this month, was lucky the two of them got drafted into separate brands of Major League Wrestling. But Hutton vowed that the payback he owes Orton Jr. will still be coming sooner rather than later.
The opening match in the opening round ended when Condrey threw Hutton out of the ring and then, apparently with some form of metal object wrapped in his hands, nailed him with an axe handle from the top turnbuckle. Hutton was unable to get back into the ring before the referee counted to 10.
Winner: Dennis Condrey by count out
Match #2: Diamond Dallas Page vs Justin Credible.
This match featured two of the many wrestlers who recently signed with Major League Wrestling. Credible attempted to start the match with a backbreaker to Page. But DDP managed to duck away from Credible and responded with a swinging neckbreaker followed by a Russian Leg Sweep and a DIAMOND CUTTER for the easy victory.
Winner: Diamond Dallas Page
Match #3: Steve "Dr. Death" Williams vs "Precious" Paul Ellering
The announcers of this match remarked that they were impressed that Major League Wrestling managed to acquire Williams from the Japanese territory he was previously working for. Ellering attempted to start this match with a shoulder tackle but it had absolutely no effect on the big Oklahoman. Williams responded with a lariat followed by a football tackle, another lariat, and his OKLAHOMAN STAMPEDE finisher for the decisive victory over Ellering.
Winner: Steve "Dr. Death" Williams
Match #4: Virgil vs Ivan Koloff
The announcers remark that they were surprised Major League Wrestling (MLW) owner and general manager Bruno Sammartino would sign Koloff due to the history between the two men when they both wrestled in the Northeast Territory. To begin the match, Virgil tried to hit Koloff with a forearm swipe that the big Russian dodged. As Virgil stumbled from his missed attack, Koloff nailed him with a hip toss followed by a falling face slam and then his RUSSIAN BEARHUG for the extremely quick victory.
Winner: Ivan Koloff
Match #5: Boogie Woogie Man vs Steve Corino
The Boogie Woogie Man started off in control against Corino with an eye poke followed by a running elbow and a wind-up elbow drop. Corino was able to regain the momentum and grabbed a small metallic ringside object which he used to repeatedly hit the Boogie Woogie Man without the referee noticing. Corino then hit the Boogie Woogie Man with 2 straight Victory Plexes and then an OLD SCHOOL EXPULSION but the Boogie Woogie Man kicked out at the 2 count. Corino continued wearing down the Boogie Woogie Man and recorded 2 more near pin falls. But the end came when Corino went for a death jump only to get nailed in the chin by a suddenly-raised boot of the Boogie Woogie Man. As Corino grabbed his chin in agony, the Boogie Woogie Man slapped on his SLEEPER for the victory.
Winner: Boogie Woogie Man
Match #6: Terrible Turk vs Sandman
This match proved to be a brutal First Round matchup between 2 heels who proceeded to pummel each other with neither one gaining a clear advantage for awhile. But after giving the Sandman 3 straight Neck Wrenchers, the Terrible Turk won the match via a rib crusher. After the match, the Sandman was grabbing his neck in agony after the 3 straight Neck Wrenchers inflicted on him by the Terrible Turk.
Winner: Terrible Turk
Match #7: Billy "Red" Lyons vs Bob Orton Sr.
In what some of the local bettors in Las Vegas considered an upset, Lyons defeated Orton Sr via his FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK in a surprisingly short amount of time.
Winner: Billy "Red" Lyons
Match #8: Danny Hodge vs Killer Kowalski
In the final match of the evening and of the First Round, Kowalski started things off trying to hit Hodge with wild punches. But Hodge expertly dodged the blows and instead placed Kowalski in a Hodge Headlock followed by a Boston Crab. The action continually shifted back and forth in what proved to be the best match of the First Round. Kowalski later threw Hodge out of the ring and proceeded to choke him with the cable from a ringside cameraman before throwing him back into the ring where he applied his dreaded KOWALSKI CLAW. The referee started waving his hands and Kowalski, thinking he had won the match stood up and released his finisher. But, to Kowalski's irritation, the referee pointed out that Hodge had somehow managed to get his foot draped across one of the ropes and thus the match would continue. Eventually Hodge was able to make a comeback and used his OKLAHOMA SIDE ROLL to defeat Kowalski.
Winner: Danny Hodge
As the First Round concluded, ring announcer Gary Michael Cappetta announced the Second Round matchups for tomorrow evening:
Boogie Woogie Man vs United States Champion Buddy Rogers Rick Rude vs Steve Williams Billy "Red" Lyons vs Giant Baba Ted DiBiase (Legends Teams card) vs Danny Hodge Frank Gotch vs Dennis Condrey Diamond Dallas Page vs Bruiser Brody Harley Race vs Terrible Turk Dan Severn vs Ivan Koloff
Be sure to tune in tomorrow night-Friday July 28- for the result of the Second Round matches listed above in which half of the 16 men still eligible to become the first-ever MLW Champion will be eliminated!

Good to have you back! I am as surprised as anybody about Beefcake and Bagwell; they would have been #8 seed in my book. My picks for the tournament: Rogers over Boogie Woogie Dr. Death over Rude Baba over Lyons DiBiase over Hodge (too close to call!) Gotch over Condrey Brody over Page Race over Turk Koloff over Severn (also a tough call) Should set up some great match-ups for the quarterfinals!

Nice Work Stephen, I love reading your stuff.. I'm going all out and predicting Gotch to take the Title...I think I always do whenever Gotch is in a Title situation... Gotch ftw... ;D Splattercat, I am glad to hear you like my fed! I think your fed is cool because you have it structured as an offshoot of CPB's awesome Legends fed from his website. That is a great idea. As for Gotch, he usually does really well for me so that is probably a good pick to win my current tournament to decide my first-ever MLW Champion. But now that I said that the dice will probably have him lose to Dennis Condrey in the next round. ;D

Major League Wrestling (MLW) NWA
Friday July 28 @ Thomas & Mack in Las Vegas, NV (First Half of tonight's show)
Tonight is the Second Round of the MLW Championship Tournament!
Second Round
Match #1: Boogie Woogie Man vs United States Champion Buddy Rogers (accompanied by Maxine Babe and the United States Tag Team Champions the Valentines)
As Rogers,Maxine Babe, and the Valentines entered the ring, they all gave their four fingered hand sign which we learned at the Great American Bash meant they all belonged to a faction called the Horsemen. The announcers remark that it is still unknown why Rogers and the Valentines are signaling the number 4 when there are only 3 of them. Could there be a Fourth Horsemen? If so, who is it?
Rogers started off trying to give the Boogie Woogie Man a hip toss. But the Boogie Woogie Man blocked it and astonished everybody by unleashing an offensive onslaught against the United States Champion that included a spinning toe hold and repeated running elbow smashes and roundhouse punches. The crowd seemed poised for a surprising victory for the Boogie Woogie Man as Rogers had to kick out of 3 pin attempts to prolong the match. Several times Rogers gained the offensive only to lose it quickly once again to the Boogie Woogie Man. Finally, the Boogie Woogie Man put his SLEEPER on Rogers. Rogers resisted at first but the Boogie Woogie Man refused to relinquish his finishing hold and it appeared that Rogers was about to succumb. But then Maxine Babe and Greg Valentine jumped on the apron and distracted the referee while Johnny Valentine entered the ring and leveled the Boogie Woogie Man in the back of the head with a forearm hammer. The Boogie Woogie Man instantly released his finisher on Rogers who took advantage of the distraction caused by his fellow Horsemen to make a comeback. Rogers gave the Boogie Woogie Man a pole ram followed by a jumping knee smash that resulted in a pinfall attempt- but the Boogie Woogie Man kicked out at the 2 count. Rogers then gave the Boogie Woogie Man an atomic drop followed by another jumping knee smash that resulted in another pin attempt and this time the Boogie Woogie Man did not kick out.
Rogers advances to the Quarter Finals in tomorrow's tournament but it seemed apparent to many that only the "gang interference" of the other Horsemen prevented the Boogie Woogie Man from achieving a monumental upset.
Winner: United States Champion Buddy Rogers
Match #2: Rick Rude vs Steve Williams
This match featured 2 of the many newcomers to MLW with Rude making his debut match and Williams making just his second appearance after coming off his easy victory against "Precious" Paul Ellering in the First Round last night.
This match began by seeing the offensive shifting back and forth between Rude and Williams. Rude later hit Williams with a swinging neckbreaker and then his RUDE AWAKENING. But Rude arrogantly failed to hook the legs of Williams while going for the 3 count and failed to get the victory. Williams managed to battle back and hit Rude with a standing dropkick followed by lariats and a football tackle. But Rude eventually regained control and won the match by hitting Williams with a suplex and a handful of tights. After winning the match, Rude arrogantly posed for the crowd.
Winner: Rick Rude
Match #3: Billy "Red" Lyons vs Giant Baba
The 2 fan favorites in this match shook hands before the bell rang. Although Giant Baba dominated almost all of this match, Lyons impressed everyone with his valiant refusal to submit as he managed to kick out of 5 pin attempts including 3 NECKBREAKER DROPS! But Baba then hit Lyons with a devastating Baba chop followed by a fourth NECKBREAKER DROP and this time Lyons did not kick out.
Winner: Giant Baba
Match #4: Ted DiBiase (Legends Teams card) vs Danny Hodge
DiBiase, via his FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK, defeated Hodge in a surprisingly short match that only lasted a few minutes.
Winner: Ted DiBiase
DiBiase's victory over Hodge marks the end of the First Half of tonight's Second Round matches of the MLW Championship tournament. The Second Half of the Second Round is coming up next

Major League Wrestling (MLW) NWA
Friday July 28 @ Thomas & Mack in Las Vegas, NV (Second Half of tonight's show, First Half is posted above)
The Hot Seat: The guest is Captain Kangaroo (formerly known as Captain Lou Albano).
Apter: "Welcome to the Hot Seat which will now only be seen on NWA brand shows as Larry Zbyszko's Larry Land segments start up next week on the AWA shows. Tonight we welcome the NWA's newest manager, who came to us in a trade with the AWA as mentioned in yesterday's MLW press release, Captain Kangaroo"
Apter: "Why are you now calling yourself Captain Kangaroo?"
Captain Kangaroo: "Because I have always been the Captain and now I manage the Fabulous Kangaroos."
Apter: "So Captain Kangaroo, why were you traded just a few days after Major League Wrestling (MLW) held the draft for its brand split? "
Captain Kangaroo: "Manager Wild Red Berry wants to manage the Vachons in the AWA, so I requested this trade in order to manage the Fabulous Kangaroos and to be involved with the greatest tag team division in Major League Wrestling. The AWA brand still has some good tag teams. But over here in the NWA brand you have teams such as my Kangaroos, the Road Warriors, the World Tag Team Champions Midnight Express, and the United States Tag Team Champions the Valentines."
Apter: "The NWA brand also has the Armstrongs and do not forget that Phantasy last night says she is looking to put a tag team together."
Captain Kangaroo: "All of this competition will just make it even more meaningful when I guide the Fabulous Kangaroos to the top and I have already started the process."
Apter: "How?"
Captain Kangaroo: " I have arranged for the Fabulous Kangaroos to make their debut match here in MLW against the Armstrongs tomorrow night between the Semi Final and Final Rounds of the MLW Championship Tournament. Bruno Sammartino is eager to showcase his new tag team talent and I am eager to get my Kangaroos moving up the ladder in the tag team division."
Apter: "We will look forward to seeing both the Fabulous Kangaroos and the Armstrongs make their MLW debut tomorrow night against each other. Now back to the rest of the Second Round matches of the MLW Championship Tournament."
Second Round continued
Match #5: Frank Gotch vs Dennis Condrey
Although Condrey put up strong resistance, Gotch managed to hit Condrey with a couple of rolling kneebars followed by his GOTCH TOEHOLD for the win.
Winner: Frank Gotch
Match #6: Diamond Dallas Page vs Bruiser Brody
In his debut match, Brody looked extremely impressive as he obtained the victory in just a few moves via his JUMPING KNEE SMASH.
Winner: Bruiser Brody
Match #7: Harley Race vs the Terrible Turk
Race started things off trying to apply a headlock to the Terrible Turk who manged to doge out of the way and instead throw Race into the turnbuckle. The Terrible Turk charged after Race with a raised double axe-handle. But Race seemed to time things perfectly by moving out of the way just before the Terrible Turk hit the empty turnbuckle and crashed to the mat. As the Terrible Turk struggled to his feet, Race hit him with a PILEDRIVER for the victory. The announcers remark that Race seems determined to win his first championship in Major League Wrestling.
Winner: Harley Race
Match #8: Dan Severn vs Ivan Koloff
This final match of the night proved to be one of the best of the entire Second Round. After the offensive shifted back and forth numerous times, Severn seemed to have the match won his WAKIGATAME finisher. But the Terrible Turk came out to rescue Koloff. As the Terrible Turk entered the ring, Severn knocked the Turk's head into the head of Koloff and went for the pinfall but Koloff somehow got his foot on the rope and the match continued. Several times Koloff managed to get away with hitting Severn with his chain without getting dqd as he and his new ally the Terrible Turk worked well together in quickly passing the chain back and forth. But eventually the referee did catch Koloff using his chain and awarded the match to Severn by dq.
Winner: Dan Severn by disqualification
