Major League Wrestling (MLW) NWA
Saturday July 29 @ Thomas & Mack in Las Vegas, NV (First Half of the show)
Tonight is the Quarter Finals, Semi Finals, and Final Round matchups in the tournament that will decide the first-ever MLW Champion!
Quarter Finals[/u][/color]
Match #4: United States Champion Buddy Rogers (accompanied by Maxine Babe and the United States Tag Team Champions the Valentines) vs Rick Rude
Rude dominated the early portion of this opening Quarter Finals match to the extent that it appeared that the Boogie Woogie Man's near Second Round victory over Rogers last night was no fluke. But Rogers eventually made a comeback and almost pinned Rude with a piledriver. Rogers proceeded to give Rude an atomic drop, a jumping knee smash, another piledriver, and then his FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE which forced Rude to tap out and allowed United States Champion Buddy Rogers to advance to the Semi Finals.
Winner: United States Champion Buddy Rogers
Match #2: Giant Baba vs Ted DiBiase
The early part of this match was a stalemate as the offensive shifted back and forth between both wrestlers. But DiBiase was later able to make a sustained offensive as he almost pinned Baba via a spinning neckbreaker and then twice more nearly achieved victory over Baba via his LOADED GLOVE. DiBiase then looked at the turnbuckle and decided to do a deathjump with his loaded glove. But Baba rolled out of the way and DiBiase's glove smashed into the empty mat and ricocheted back into his own face. Baba then covered DiBiase for the three count and will meet United States Champion Buddy Rogers in the Semi Finals.
Winner: Giant Baba
Match #3: Frank Gotch vs Bruiser Brody
Gotch and Brody met in the center of the ring. Brody tried to shove Gotch but Gotch refused to budge an inch. Gotch then tried to bodyslam Brody but was unable to lift the big man off of his feet. Brody then suddenly hit Gotch with a dropkick and then picked up Gotch and threw him across the ring. Brody then walked over to Gotch and threw him into the turnbuckle but Gotch raised himself up and kicked a charging Brody in the face. Gotch then gave Brody an Iowa backdrop followed by a rolling kneebar and then his GOTCH TOEHOLD finisher. But Brody refused to submit! Gotch then hit Brody with a couple of forearm uppercuts and then slapped on a grinding headlock. Gotch attempted to follow this with an overhead wristlock but Brody countered with a twisting vertical suplex followed by a big boot to the face and a running leg drop. As Gotch struggled to his feet, Brody hit him with a clothesline followed by his JUMPING KNEE SMASH. But Gotch just managed to get his shoulder up before the three count. Brody gave Gotch another clothesline and then tried to stomp on him but Gotch defended with a headlock takeover and then threw Brody out of the ring. Gotch followed Brody out of the ring where a vicious brawl ensued but Brody won this battle and threw Gotch back into the ring. where he gave him a piledriver. Gotch and Brody continued to battle each other without mercy until Gotch was able to put Brody in in a crossface and arm bar. But Brody's long arms allowed him to grab the ropes and the referee forced Gotch to release the hold. Gotch then immediately hit Brody with another rolling kneebar and another GOTCH TOEHOLD. But Brody still refused to submit. Gotch then gave Brody a guillotine choke and, making sure he was far enough from the ropes this time, placed Brody in yet another crossface and armbar and this time Brody tapped out.
Winner: Frank Gotch
Match #4: Dan Severn vs Harley Race
Race continued to seem intent on winning his first title in Major League Wrestling and controlled about 95% of the match with moves such as knee to gut, swinging neckbreakers, repeated diving headbutts, and an Indian Deathlock. But later in the match Race threw Severn out of the ring and went out after him. A wild brawl ensued but the referee disqualified Race for using a steel chair against Severn outside of the ring. Dan Severn will now wrestle Frank Gotch in the Semi Finals.
Winner: Dan Severn by dq
End of First Half of the Show. The Second Half will be posted next and will include the results of the Semi Finals and Final Rounds to determine the first-ever MLW Champion!

Major League Wrestling (MLW) NWA
Saturday July 29 @ Thomas & Mack in Las Vegas, NV (Second Half of the show-First Half is posted above)
This is it! The Semi Finals and Final Rounds will now be held and the first-ever MLW Champion will be decided before the end of tonight's show!
Semi Finals
Match #5: United States Champion Buddy Rogers (accompanied by Maxine Babe and the United States Champions the Valentines) vs Giant Baba
As they have throughout the tournament, Rogers,Maxine Babe, and the Valentines entered the ring and gave their four fingered hand signal for their Horsemen faction- but the identity of the Fourth Horsemen is still unknown. Giant Baba started off the match in control but Rogers quickly made a comeback and nearly pinned Baba with a jumping knee smash. A couple of moves later, Rogers hit Baba with a piledriver and with a handful of tights covered Baba for the victory. Rogers moves into the Final Round and will face the winner of the other Semi Final match between Frank Gotch and Dan Severn!
Winner: United States Champion Buddy Rogers
Match #6: Frank Gotch vs Dan Severn
The two fan favorites shook hands before the start of this match that would decide which one of them would face Buddy Rogers in the Final Round. Gotch's Semi Final match against Brody appeared to have taken alot out of him as Severn dominated the match. Gotch survived 5 pinfall and submission attempts but finally submitted to Severn's WAKIGATAME. It will be Buddy Rogers vs Dan Severn in the Final Round to decide the first-ever MLW Champion! Gotch wishes Severn luck in the next round against Rogers before the two wrestlers head back to the locker room.
Winner: Dan Severn
Match #7: The Armstrongs vs The Fabulous Kangaroos (managed by Captain Kangaroo- formerly known as Captain Lou Albano).
Between the Semi Finals and Final Round, two new heralded and fan favorite tag teams were scheduled to make their debut against each other for Major League Wrestling (MLW). After shaking hands, the Armstrongs and the Fabulous Kangaroos put on what turned out to be a great showcase for MLW's new tag team talent as both teams dazzled the fans with their acrobatics and displayed good tag team tactics by utilizing a series of quick tags and keeping their opponent in their own corner away from their opponent's partner. At one point Captain Kangaroo saved the match for his team by distracting the referee and preventing Brad Armstrong from pinning Roy Heffernan via a RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP. Helped by Captain Kangaroo's interference, the Fabulous Kangaroos were able to make a comeback and even exhibited their impressive BOOMERANG finisher against "Bullet" Bob Armstrong but Brad Armstrong was just able to make the pin save. The match finally ended when Al Costello gave Bob Armstrong a MARBLE BOR LEGLOCK and, after Bob Armstrong still resisted, tagged in Roy Heffernan who finished "the Bullet" off with his STEP OVER CROSSHOLD.
Winners: Fabulous Kangaroos
FINAL ROUND
Match #8: United States Champion Buddy Rogers (accompanied by Maxine Babe and the United States Tag Team Champions the Valentines) vs Dan Severn
Rogers and the rest of the Horsemen decided to use psychological tactics in this final round as each of the Valentines were stationed across from each other on opposite sides of the ring. Although the Valentines did not physically interfere, Severn found himself constantly checking to make sure he was not going to get ambushed like the Boogie Woogie Man did against Rogers and the other members of the Horsemen in the Second Round of this tournament. This strategy of the Horsemen seemed to pay off as Rogers controlled most of the match and won the tournament by a deathjump.
Winner: Buddy Rogers. By winning the tournament, Buddy Rogers becomes the first-ever MLW Champion and is also still the United States Champion!
Rogers celebrates in the ring with each of his hands clutching one of the two championships he now holds as the Valentines and Maxine Babe pour champagne on him in celebration. Rogers then grabs the microphone and says forget owner and general manager Bruno Sammartino because Buddy Rogers is now the man completely on top in Major League Wrestling (MLW). Sammartino then appears and tells Rogers congratulations on being a double champion. But Sammartino also tells Rogers just to wait until this Friday night August 4 on NWA:Nitro when Sammartino says he will reveal what type of match Rogers will be involved in at Summer Slam!
Show ends as screen fades to black.

Gotch vs. Severn would have been amazing to see, and admittedly I'm not really surprised that Severn won...Awesome match between Gotch and Bruiser Brody though, that was intense...Overall I'm pleased with Gotch's performance, and Severn was worthy of the win... Rogers is too much... Awesome card Stephen..!!!

Major League Wrestling (MLW) AWA Preview for AWA:RAW on Thursday 08/03/06 in Seattle, WA
Following Major League Wrestling's (MLW's) brand split 2 weeks ago and last week's tournaments to decide the first-ever MLW Tag Team Champions and MLW Champion, the AWA brand's first-ever edition of AWA:RAW takes place this Thursday in Seattle!
The main event for the first-ever edition of AWA:RAW will be a match for the World Championship as current champion Nick Bockwinkel will defend his title against challenger Jim Londos! Londos won the right to face Bockwinkel for the World Championship by defeating Antonino Rocca in a #1 contenders match last week between the Semi Final and Final Rounds of the MLW Tag Team Championship tournament. Will Bockwinkel extend his reign that started back in March as World Champion or will MLW newcomer Londos win the World Championship?
Also, the office of MLW's owner and general manager Bruno Sammartino has announced plans to create a secondary title for the AWA brand and this new title will be known as the Intercontinental Championship! This week on AWA:RAW, Sammartino will identify 7 of the 8 AWA wrestlers who will compete in a tournament each week on AWA:RAW to become the first Intercontinental Champion until there are only 2 competitors remaining. The last two wrestlers will then compete in a match at Summer Slam to determine the Intercontinental Champion. The 8th and final spot in the Intercontinental Championship tournament will be determined by the winner of a battle royal this week on AWA:RAW!
In addition, the first episode of Larry Land (hosted by Larry Zbyszko) will take place, MLW Tag Team Champions the Heart Thrashers and their manager Cassandra have announced plans to give a victory speech in the ring following their surprising victory in last week's MLW Tag Team Championship tournament, and the first-ever ladies wrestling match in Major League Wrestling history will occur as newcomers Ida Mae Martinez and Sherri Martel will compete against each other!
All this and more this Thursday on AWA:RAW!
And now for this week's preview of Major League Wrestling's other brand, the NWA:
Major League Wrestling (MLW) NWA Preview for NWA:Nitro on Friday 08/04/06 in Tacoma, WA
Following his victory in the MLW Championship Tournament last week to become the first-ever MLW Champion while also retaining his United States Championship, Buddy Rogers claimed it was really himself and not MLW owner and general manager Bruno Sammartino who is the true power in Major League Wrestling. As the tournament came to a close, Sammartino responded to Rogers that he had the perfect match for him as a double champion to compete in the NWA's portion of the main event at Summer Slam and that this type of match for MLW Champion and United States Champion Buddy Rogers will be announced on this week's first-ever edition of NWA:Nitro!
Speaking of MLW Champion and United States Champion Buddy Rogers, he and the rest of the Horsemen will be the guests on the Hot Seat at on this week's NWA:Nitro. It has been confirmed to Bill Apter that the Horsemen plan to announce an adjustment of their roster. Will the mysterious identity of the Fourth Horsemen finally be revealed?
In addition, following the departure of the Gladiators after the Great American Bash and the drafting of the Missing Link to the AWA brand of Major League Wrestling (MLW), Killer Kowalski has announced that he has 2 new members for his Dungeon of Doom who he plans to send after the Road Warriors and he will reveal who these new men to his stable are this week on NWA:Nitro!
Finally, on NWA:Nitro there will be a rematch from last week's Semi Final Round match between friends Frank Gotch and Dan Severn and the Fabulous Kangaroos, Harley Race, Diamond Dallas Page, and the Armstrongs will all be in action!
MLW spokesman Splatter says: "Major League Wrestling (MLW). Don't you DARE miss it!"

will the match between severn and gotch be in a cage? i always put my remtches in a cage or death match. For feuds I often will also put rematches in a cage or in some other type of specialty match. But I am not planning a feud between Severn and Gotch (at least not right now). Instead, I have future plans for whoever the dice end up giving the victory to on Friday between Severn and Gotch and this will be explained more on this week's edition of Major League Wrestling's NWA:Nitro.

Major League Wrestling (MLW) AWA:RAW Thursday 08/03/06 Key Arena in Seattle, WA
Because, with the exception of last week's tournament following the brand split, this is the first show for Major League Wrestling (MLW) since its Great American Bash PPV in early July due to MLW's recent summer hiatus, AWA:RAW starts off with the following highlights from the Great American Bash that may influence current storylines in the AWA brand of MLW (for a complete recap of the Great American Bash PPV see my posts from July 4 on this thread):
* Killer Bees defeated Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff in a flag match. But the Iron Sheik and Volkoff refused to salute the US flag as required by the match stipulations and instead attacked the Killer Bees. The Iron Sheik had B. Brian Blair in the CAMEL CLUTCH and refused to release his hold until Hacksaw Jim Duggan, making his unannounced debut with MLW, surprisingly arrived in the ring and nailed the Iron Sheik in the back with his 2X4.
*The Regulators (Cowboy Bob Orton Jr. and Richard Hutton) lost their United States Tag Team Championship to the Valentines as Johnny Valentine put Hutton away with an ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER for the victory. Blaming Hutton for the defeat, Orton Jr, then shocked his fans by shoving Hutton to the mat and then leaving him behind by walking back to the locker room alone.
*Jimmy Snuka defeated Gorgeous George in a dog collar match. Afterward, before Snuka could remove the dog collar form around his neck, a masked man arrived and attacked Snuka from behind and seriously injured him by hanging him over the ropes with the dog collar and then giving him a reverse piledriver. EMTs rushed to the ring to carry Snuka away on a stretcher. The masked man later revealed himself on the Hot Seat as none other than MLW newcomer Don Muraco who said he has some old scores he wants to settle with Snuka from their days together in another wrestling federation.
Highlights are also shown from last week's MLW Tag Team Championship Tournament:
* Footage is shown from last week's First Round matchup between the Double Axe Attack vs Heenan Family members King Kong Bundy and Ox Baker. The tape shows how Bobby Heenan before the match announced he is looking for wrestlers to replace Harley Race, who got drafted into MLW's NWA brand, in the Heenan Family but he will not consider "scum" like the Double Axe Attack here. The tape also shows how Bundy pinned Larry Hennig via an AVALANCHE and then how Baker and Bundy proceeded to double team an already downed Larry Hennig under the direction of Heenan until medical personnel arrived to aid Larry Hennig.
* Finally, footage is shown of the Heart Thrashers (Brutus Beefcake and Buff Bagwell managed by Cassandra) surprisingly defeating the Killer Bees, Baker and Bundy, and the Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff in the First, Second/Semi Final, and Final Rounds respectively to become the first-ever MLW Tag Team Champions!
The highlights end and AWA:RAW begins on the following posts.

Major League Wrestling (MLW) AWA AWA:RAW 08/03/06 @ Key Arena in Seattle, WA (First Half of the show)
Following the highlights of recent events (see previous post), AWA: RAW is set to begin!
Start of Show: new MLW Tag Team Champions the Heart Thrashers (Brutus Beefcake and Buff Bagwell) and thier manager Cassandra are in the ring.
Cassandra (speaking to the Seattle crowd): "My name is Cassandra (from COTG) and I know that all you sloppy coffee-drinking, raincoat-wearing, and computer-programming nerds want me! But forget it because you are not in my league."
Cassandra: "So Phantasy (from COTG) over on the NWA brand called me a tramp last week. She has got lots of nerve talking about me like that. We Googled her and found out that her former job was to fulfill the pleasures of men who worked for a place called the Penthouse Suite. She is only talking trash about me because she is jealous of the success I am having after winning the MLW Tag Team Championship last week. And now she thinks she can put together a tag team capable of defeating my Heart Thrashers? I say bring in on, you *****!"
Seattle crowd starts chanting: "You're a tramp! You're a tramp!"
Beefcake (to Seattle crowd): "You guys call this place the Emerald City? Well that is nothing compared to the size of the gold MLW Tag Team Championship belts now around the waists of Buff and myself."
Bagwell: "Now I know why the Sonics are threatening to move to Oklahoma City after next season. It is because you guys, their fans, are pathetic."
Cassandra and the Heart Thrashers leave the ring to the jeers of the crowd.
Match #1: S.D. Jones vs the Missing Link
On the first match of the first edition of MLW's AWA:RAW, the Missing Link got away early in the match with hitting Jones with a wild chair shot followed by a BACK FLYING HEADBUTT. Although Jones kicked out at the 2 count, the Missing Link immediately hit him with an atomic drop and this time scored the victory.
Winner: Missing Link
In the Ring: MLW owner and general manager Bruno Sammartino with the following pieces of important news:
* Jimmy Snuka is still unable to wrestle due to the injuries he suffered at the hands of Muraco but he will be expected back by the end of the month. * Larry Hennig is also out for a couple of weeks following the attack upon him last week by members of the Heenan Family. * A tournament to decide the first-ever Intercontinental Champion begins next week on AWA:RAW . Antonino Rocca, Mil Mascaras, Bobo Brazil, Ray Stevens, Larry Zbyszko, Don Muraco, and the Crusher (pictures of the wrestlers flash on the big screen as their names are called out) will be 7 of the 8 participants in the tournament and the final wild card spot will go to the winner of a battle royal tonight on AWA:RAW! * Now it is time for the first-ever women's wrestling match in Major League Wrestling history!
Match #2: Ida Mae Martinez vs Sherri Martel
Yukon Eric came out to ringside eager to see the women wrestle each other. Before the match, Martinez stunned the crowd by grabbing the microphone and yodeling:
"Yodl-Ay-EEE-Ooooo." "Yodel adee tee." "Yodel adee tee, ee ay dee tee!"
Yukon Eric appeared turned on by Martinez's yodeling and started clapping his hands emphatically. But Sherri Martel had enough of it and started the match by giving Martinez a head scissors to shut her up. Martel then went for the quick pin by giving Martinez a suplex followed by a TOP ROPE SPLASH but Martinez was able to kick out. Martinez immediately went for another pin attempt via a clothesline but once again Martinez kicked out. Martinez was able to battle back and almost pinned Martel with a bodyslam before placing her in a standing headlock to slow down the pace of the match. Later in the match, Martel gave Martinez a snap mare while holding her hair and then a clothesline before throwing her out of the ring. Martel then amazed the crowd by climbing to the top turnbuckle and leaping to the outside to hit Martinez with a falling cross body. Yukon Eric tried to help Martinez reenter the ring but was unable to do so before the referee counted to 10.
Winner: Sherri Martel by countout
After the match, Yukon Eric entered the ring and grabbed a microphone to speak with Ida Mae Martinez.
Yukon Eric: "Ida, sweet as apple cider, will you go out with me?"
Martinez (looking uneasy): "I don't know Yukon Eric. I will have to think about it."
Yukon Eric (taking a piece of paper out of his pocket): "I don't have one of those cell phone things. But the house where I live with my Granny has a telephone. Just call her and tell her if you will go out with me or not."
Yukon Eric then leaves Martinez in the ring.
Match #3: Killer Bees vs Vachons
At the start of the match, the Vachons introduced their new manager- "Wild" Red Berry. In a great and probably 3 1/2 star match, the action shifted continuously back and forth. But the end came when Mad Dog Vachon threw B. Brian Blair out of the ring and then, at Berry's direction, smashed Blair's head into a steel rail. The referee came out to warn Mad Dog Vachon but Mad Dog Vachon just threw the referee aside and onto the floor to earn the instant dq.
Winner: Killer Bees by dq.
End of the First Half of AWA:RAW. The Second Half will be posted next and will include the first-ever edition of Larry Land, a battle royal to decide the wild card spot for the Intercontinental Championship Tournament, and a title match between Jim Londos and World Champion Nick Bockwinkel!

Major League Wrestling (MLW) AWA AWA:RAW 08/03/06 @ Key Arena in Seattle, WA (Second Half of the show, First Half is posted above)
Larry Land: On the first-ever edition of Larry Land, the guest is Koko B. Ware
Larry Land is a weekly interview session hosted by Larry Zbyszko.
Zbyszko: "Welcome to Larry Land hosted by me, the Living Legend, Larry Z. Here comes my guest now."
Ware (to the Seattle crowd): "Seattle it is time to get up and get down because the Bird Man is back in town!"
Ware then starts dancing around the set of Larry Land while flapping his arms and his bird Frankie is also dancing on his arm.
Ware (singing the song "Piledriver"): "Sometimes love is like a slow dance. You can tiptoe around, but don't make a sound. You can make a little..."
Zbyszko (irritated, interrupts Ware): "Cut that crap out now before I give you a choke hold. You could not carry a tune if it had handles on it."
Zbyszko: "So you are Koko B. Ware. I think I met your mother Tupper. Looking at you I am not impressed. How much success do you think you are going to have here in Major League Wrestling?"
Ware: "Me and Frankie are going to go as far as our talents will let us fly."
Zbyszko: "Yeah, about that bird. Don't bring him onto Larry Land again unless he is in a shake and bake bag."
Ware (upset): "Sick him Frankie!"
Frankie then jumps onto Zbyszko's shoulders and starts biting him on the back of the neck as Zbyszko yells in pain. Frankie then jumps on Zbyszko's head where he takes a dump before flying back to Koko B. Ware. Ware and Frankie then leave the set of Larry Land.
Zbyszko (angry and covered in bird droppings): "Next week on Larry Land I will show everybody why I can promise that something like this will never happen to me ever again!"
Match #4: Battle Royal for the final spot in the Intercontinental Championship Tournament.
The 14 wrestlers in the battle royal: Gorgeous George, Iron Sheik, Nikolai Volkoff, Yukon Eric, Cousin Luke, Koko B. Ware, Red Bastien, Iron Mike DiBiase, Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Curt Hennig, Cowboy Bob Orton Jr., Playboy Buddy Rose, King Kong Bundy, and Ox Baker.
Order of elimination: Iron Mike DiBiase, Orton Jr, Cousin Luke, Rose, Yukon Eric, Volkoff, George, Bundy, Baker, Ware, Bastien, Iron Sheik, Curt Hennig.
Winner: Hacksaw Jim Duggan
Battle Royal notes: Seeking revenge for the injury suffered by his father in last week's MLW Tag Team Championship Tournament, Curt Hennig went right after Bundy and Baker and battled these two for most of the battle royal- it was Hennig who eliminated Baker. Rose and George were battling each other intently until George threw out Rose. The last 3 men were Duggan, the Iron Sheik, and Curt Hennig. Duggan eliminated the Iron Sheik and then C. Hennig for the victory and to win a spot in next week's Intercontinental Championship Tournament.
Match #5 (Main Event): Jim Londos vs World Champion Nick Bockwinkel (managed by Bobby Heenan and accompanied to the ring by Heenan Family problem solver Ox Baker) in a title match.
Londos gets this title match after winning the #1 contender's match against Antonino Rocca last week between the Semi Final and Final Rounds of the MLW Tag Team Championship Tournament.
Before the match, Antonino Rocca came up to Londos in the locker room. Rocca told Londos he had wrestled Bockwinkel several times before but had been unsuccessful partly due to the interference by other members of the Heenan Family. Rocca warned Londos to be careful of this interference- especially from Ox Baker.
The match between Londos and Bockwinkel began with both wrestlers exchanging offensive moves against each other before Londos started to take over. Alternating between his BOSTON CRAB and his AIRPLANE SPIN finishers, Londos made Bockwinkel refuse to submit or kick out of 6 attempts to put him away and win the World Championship. Londos finally appeared to have Bockwinkel about to tap out via a BOSTON CRAB. But Heenan ordered his "problem solver" Baker into the ring. Baker pummeled Londos and the referee called for the bell. Londos wins the match but Bockwinkel retains the title because it was a victory by dq for Londos.
Winner: Jim Londos by dq
Bockwinkel then set up Londos so Baker could give him a HEART PUNCH. But before Baker could land the blow, Curt Hennig ran out with a steel chair to chase off the Heenan Family. C. Hennig helped Londos roll out of the ring to safety but suddenly C. Hennig was attacked from behind by a headlock and choke and then a double underhook suplex by Ray Stevens who suddenly appeared in the ring to help the Heenan Family. Meanwhile King Kong Bundy had also come to the ring. Heenan introduced Stevens as the newest member of the Heenan family and then directs Stevens, Baker, and Bockwinkel, to hold down C. Hennig while Bundy prepared to give him an AVALANCHE. Heenan was telling Curt he was about to join his father Larry in the hospital when the Crusher suddenly ran down to the ring with a club in each hand and chased off the entire Heenan family. The Crusher then helped Curt Hennig to his feet as the show came to an end and the screen faded to black.
Be sure to check out later this week the other show (NWA:Nitro) of Major League Wrestling's (MLW's) other brand- the NWA!

Major League Wrestling (MLW) NWA:NITRO Friday 08/04/06 Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, WA
Because, with the exception of last week's tournament following the brand split, this is the first show for Major League Wrestling's (MLW's) NWA brand since MLW's Great American Bash PPV in early July due to MLW's recent summer hiatus, NWA:NITRO starts off with the following highlights from the Great American Bash that may influence current storylines in the NWA brand of MLW (for a complete recap of the Great American Bash PPV see my posts from July 4 on this thread):
* Danny Hodge defeated the Sandman in a Singapore Cane match via a deathjump that involved striking the Sandman with the Singapore Cane in the head.
* The Valentines defeated the Regulators (Cowboy Bob Orton Jr. and Richard Hutton) in a best 2 out of 3 falls contest to win the United States Tag Team Championship as Johnny Valentine defeated Hutton with an ATOMIC SKULLCRUSHER in the deciding fall. Afterward, Orton Jr. disappointed his fans by blaming Hutton for the loss of the United States Tag Team Championship as Orton Jr. shoved Hutton to the mat and then abandoned him in the ring.
*United States Champion Buddy Rogers defeated Yukon Eric to retain the United States Championship and to prevent Yukon Eric from getting the chance to spend a night-long date with Rogers's valet Maxine Babe. Before making Yukon Eric submit to his his FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE, Rogers sucker punched Yukon Eric's kin Cousin Luke. After the referee awarded the match to Rogers, Cousin Luke entered the ring and started attacking Rogers with his horseshoe before the Valentines arrived to rescue Rogers by giving a beat down to Cousin Luke. Rogers, Maxine Babe, and the Valentines then gave their four fingered hand sign as Rogers announced "the Horsemen have arrived." But the questions are why are Rogers and the Valentines giving a four fingered hand sign if there are only 3 of them and if there is actually a Fourth Horsemen, who is it?
*The Midnight Express defeated Bobo Brazil and Mil Mascaras (Brazil and Mascaras won the Sammartino Invitational back in May) 2 falls to none to retain the World Tag Team Championship.
* Killer Kowalski (the former manager of the Road Warriors) and the Gladiators defeated the Road Warriors and Splatter in a steel cage elimination match as Massacre pinned Hawk via a falling knee smash after throwing Hawk 2 times into the side of the steel cage for the victory with Massacre as the only survivor.
Highlights were then shown of last week's MLW Championship tournament:
* Footage is shown of United States Champion Buddy Rogers defeating Boogie Woogie Man (with assistance from the Valentines) in the Second Round, defeating Rick Rude in the Quarter Finals, defeating Giant Baba in the Semi Finals, and defeating Dan Severn in the Final Round to become a double champion by capturing the first-ever MLW Championship while also still retaining his United States Championship. Rogers then announced that he, and not MLW owner and general manager Bruno Sammartino was on top of Major League Wrestling (MLW). Sammartino then appeared to congratulate Rogers but also to warn Rogers about the main event he had planned for the double champion in the NWA brand of MLW for Summer Slam.
With the highlights from recent events shown, it is now time for Major League Wrestling's (MLW's) NWA:NITRO!

Major League Wrestling (MLW) NWA NWA:NITRO FRIDAY )8/04/06 @ Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, WA (First Half of the show)
Following the highlights of recent events, Major League Wrestling's (MLW's) NWA:NITRO starts off with immediate action in the ring!
Match #1: Boogie Woogie Man vs Rick Rude
In the first-ever match of MLW's NWA:NITRO, the Boogie Woogie Man started off in control by giving Rude an eye poke followed by a series of offensive moves. But the tide turned once the Boogie Woogie Man threw Rude into the ropes. As he rebounded off the ropes, Rude ducked under a thrown punch by the Boogie Woogie Man and went back into the ropes once again. This time the Boogie Woogie Man tried to give Rude a back body drop but Rude countered with a piledriver. Rude then went on the offensive and never lost control in the match from that point on. Although the Boogie Woogie Man survived several pin attempts from Rude, the end came when Rude gave the Boogie Woogie Man a top rope sledgehammer and the referee proceeded to count 1-2-3 for the victory.
Winner: Rick Rude.
Match #2: Johnny Valiant vs Harley Race
Johnny Valiant started off the match trying to give Race an elbow to the throat. But Race dodged out of the way and responded with a forearm slug and then a headbutt followed by a swinging neckbreaker and then a PILEDRIVER for the convincing victory. Race, who was never pinned or made to submit in last week's MLW Championship Tournament, looked awesome in his defeat of Johnny Valiant.
Winner: Harley Race
Hot Seat: the Horsemen (MLW Champion and United States Champion Buddy Rogers accompanied by Maxine Babe and the United States Tag Team Champions the Valentines) are this week's guests.
Apter: "Buddy Rogers and the Valentines, how can you explain your sudden dominance over the NWA brand of Major League Wrestling?"
Greg Valentine: "The Horsemen are the elite in professional wrestling. We have all the gold because we earned it and we are the measuring stick!"
Rogers: " I have a really big house on the best side of town and I drive around in one of my 5 cars saying Whooooo! You know why I do that? Because I am a double champion. Bright lights, big cities, pretty ladies, look out because here comes the Horsemen!"
Apter: "If you are done congratulating yourselves on the back, I agreed to this interview because I was promised a roster update for the Horsemen. Is Maxine Babe the Fourth Horsemen?"
Johnny Valentine (laughing): "The key word in Horsemen is men. Does Maxine Babe look like a man to you Bill Apter?"
Apter: "She certainly does not. But if you are not going to announce the identity of the Fourth Horsemen, what type of a roster update for the Horsemen was I promised?"
Greg and Johnny Valentine both look at Buddy Rogers.
Rogers: "Maxine Babe you are fired."
Maxine Babe (shocked): "What? How can you do this Buddy after I helped guide you to both the United States Championship and then the MLW Championship?"
Rogers: "When you are a limousine riding, jet flying, kiss stealing son of a gun like the Horsemen you can not limit yourself to just one women. So, Maxine Babe, your services are no longer needed."
Maxine Babe (crying): "Buddy, no, this can't be."
Rogers (with a finger in Maxine Babe's face): "Toots, you need to go before I slap you down like a domino."
Maxine Babe then exits the Hot Seat crying hysterically.
As Buddy Rogers and the Valentines arrogantly proceed to give their four-fingered hand sign, an angry MLW owner and general manager Bruno Sammartino arrives on the Hot Seat.
Sammartino: " Buddy Rogers your statements and implied violence toward Maxine Babe is considered completely unacceptable by Major League Wrestling and I now have some news for you, player. At Major League Wrestling's Summer Slam PPV on Sunday August 27, the NWA's portion of the main event will be a triple threat two falls match in which you Buddy Rogers will defend both your United States Championship and your MLW Championship. The first fall will be for your United States Championship and the second fall will be for your MLW Championship. I will decide your two opponents, one of which will be the winner in tonight's match between Frank Gotch and Dan Severn who were the last two men to be eliminated in last week's MLW Championship Tournament."
Sammartino" "Furthermore. Buddy Rogers, tonight on NWA:NITRO I am going to empty the locker room as you will wrestle MLW's spokesman Splatter in a lumberjack match and I think it will be OK for Splatter tonight to swing away with Arsenal without being DQd."
In Ring: Killer Kowalski to announce his new Dungeon of Doom members.
Kowalski, the former manager of the Road Warriors, says he realizes Hawk and Animal want to get get their hands on the Gladiators following the events of the Great American Bash but that rematch will have to be for another time and another place as Brute and Massacre have returned to their own Mid Atlantic territory. Instead, Kowalski challenges the Road Warriors to a match against the new members of his Dungeon of Doom.
Kowalski's first new Dungeon of Doom Member: Bruiser Brody
Kowalski's second new Dungeon of Doom Member: Steve "Dr. Death" Williams
The Road Warriors then come out to answer and accept Kowalski's challenge.
Hawk: "Oh, it's on! At Summer Slam, the Road Warriors will snack on Bruiser Brody and dine on Dr. Death!"
The first complete match (Road Warriors vs Bruiser Brody and Steve Wiliams) for Summer Slam has now been made![/
End of First Half of the show. The Second Half will be posted next.

Major League Wrestling (MLW) NWA NWA:NITRO Friday 8/04/06 @ Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, WA (Second Half of the show, First Half is posted above)
Match #3: Fabulous Kangaroos (managed by Captain Kangaroo- formerly Captain Lou Albano) vs the Armstrongs
Eager to even things up after last week's defeat against he Kangaroos between the Semi Finals and Final Round of the MLW Championship Tournament, the Armstrongs started off in control as first "Bullet" Bob Armstrong and then Brad Armstrong kept the Kangaroos on the defensive. At one point it appeared it appeared Brad Armstrong had Al Costello pinned for the victory as Roy Heffernan's pin save attempt was blocked by "the Bullet's" karate chops. But Captain Kangaroo jumped on the apron to distract he referee and to prevent the Armstrongs from winning the match. The end of the match came when Brad Armstrong performed a flying forearm smash first death jump against Al Costello. Costello ended up tangled in the ropes. The referee tried to free Costello but was pushed aside by Brad Armstrong for the instant dq.
Winner: Fabulous Kangaroos by DQ
After the match, the Fabulous Kangaroos and Captain Kangaroo said they were not satisfied with a dq victory and challenged the Armstrongs to a no dq no countout match next week on NWA:NITRO. The Armstrongs accepted the challenge.
Backstage:
Phantasy is walking down the corridor when she is asked about her response to the challenge made to her this week on AWA:RAW by Cassandra- the manager of the MLW Tag Team Champions the Heart Thrashers (Brutus Beefcake and Buff Bagwell).
Phantasy, while still walking, says she has formed a new tag team and will respond personally to Cassandra's challenge next week on AWA:RAW!
Meanwhile, Phantasy walks past Richard Hutton. Hutton is suddenly lassoed from behind and jerked back by Bob Orton Sr.
Orton Sr tells Hutton that he might think he is lucky he got drafted into a separate brand than his (Hutton's) former tag team partner and Orton Sr's son Cowboy Bob Orton Jr. However, Orton Sr says he has now arrived in Major League Wrestling and will do his son a favor by disposing of his son's"trash". Orton Sr proceeds by choking Hutton with his rope before finally releasing Hutton by making him fall to the ground.
Match #4: Diamond Dallas Page vs Virgil
Before the match started, Page challenged MLW Champion and United States Champion Buddy Rogers to be one of his two competitors in the triple threat two falls match for the United States Championship and the MLW Championship at Summer Slam.
Page then introduced his new "Diamond Doll": Maxine Babe!
Virgil started off the match in command by giving Page a kick to the stomach followed by a forearm swipe, a kneedrop, and multiple combo punches. But DDP ultimately gained the offensive by dodging a swinging chop and then nailing Virgil with a discus clothsline soon followed by a DIAMOND CUTTER for the victory.
Winner: Diamond Dallas Page
Right after Page got the victory over Virgil, MLW owner and general manager Bruno Sammartino came out and said that he was happy at how DDP was treating Maxine Babe compared to Buddy Rogers's treatment of her earlier tonight and thus, upon principle, Sammartino has decided to make DDP one of Rogers's two opponents in the triple threat two falls match for Rogers's United States Championship and MLW Championship at Summer Slam!
In the Ring: Danny Hodge
Hodge demands that footage of his victory over the Sandman in their Singapore Cane match at the Great American Bash be re-shown where Hodge scored the victory after doing a deathjump while holding a Singapore cane that struck the Sandman right in the head. Hodge then announced that he has made a statement and that he can now defeat anyone in Major League Wrestling in either a standard wrestling match or a hardcore match and he will now be known as "Hardcore Hodge."
Steve Corino then came out and said he was the real and only "old school" wrestler who could also dominate the hard core ranks. Corino then challenged "Hardcore Hodge" to a best of 7 series to decide who the true old school/ hardcore wrestler was with each match in the series being a different type of hardcore match. Hodge allowed Corino to pick the type of match for next week's match #1 contest. Corino's answer: falls count anywhere match!
Match #5: Dan Severn vs Frank Gotch As Sammartino announced earlier tonight, the winner of this match will be the final competitor in the NWA's portion of the main event of Major League Wrestling's Summer Slam in which MLW Champion and United States Champion will defend both of his titles in a triple threat two falls match with the first fall for the United States Championship and the second fall for the United States Championship.
Severn started off in control with a top wristlock followed by a shoulder throw and then an arm wringer. Severn then tried a head and arm throw but Gotch blocked the move and responded with an Iowa backdrop. Gotch then performed a rolling kneebar immediately followed by his GOTCH TOEHOLD that made Severn tap out. Gotch has won the right to be the other participant along with Buddy Rogers and DDP in the NWA's main event at Summer Slam in the triple threat two falls match for Rogers's United States and MLW Championships!
Winner: Frank Gotch
Match #6 (Main Event) Splatter vs MLW Champion and United States Champion Buddy Rogers in a lumberjack match (non-title)
The lumberjacks: Justin Credible, "Precious" Paul Ellering, Giant Baba, Ivan Koloff, Terrible Turk, Dennis Condrey, Billy "Red" Lyons, Ted DiBiase (Legends Teams), Sandman, and the World Tag Team Champions Midnight Express.
Splatter battered the living H**l out of Rogers and almost pinned him via MEET ARSENAL- but somehow Rogers managed to kick out. Rogers looked liked he wanted to leave the ring and regroup but was prevented from doing so by some of the lumberjacks. Splatter continued to pummel Rogers until finally Rogers gained the offensive and a few moves later put Splatter away with is FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE.
Winner: MLW Champion and United States Champion Buddy Rogers
Rogers and his fellow Horsemen, the Valentines, celebrate yet another victory by "the Nature Boy" as the show ends and the screen fades to black.
