Major League Wrestling: Showtime Preview for Friday June 2 @ Toyota Center in Houston, TX
One week after the Sammartino Invitational, Major League Wrestling (MLW) hits the road to Texas!
MLW owner and GM Bruno Sammartino has demanded that Killer Kowalski return the briefcase with the Sammartino Invitational's $1 million prize money that Kowalski sent the Missing Link to steal from the tournament winners Bobo Brazil and Mil Mascaras after they defeated Dan Severn and Giant Baba in the tournament finals on Monday. Sammartino has threatened to expel Kowalski indefinitely from MLW and proceed with criminal charges if the money is not returned at Showtime. Will the reason for Kowalski taking the money be revealed? Will Kowalski return the money as ordered?
The first Showtime in two weeks will also feature three championship matches. At Monday's Sammartino Invitational finals, United States Champion Buddy Rogers deliberately took a countout defeat rather than resume his match against the challenger Frank Gotch. Sammartino has ordered a rematch on Showtime this week between Gotch and Rogers for the United Sates Championship and, to prevent another deliberate countout by Rogers, Sammartino has declared this title match to be MLW's first-ever lumberjack match.
Also, the Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff, who lost their United States Tag Team Championship to the Regulators on Memorial Day at the Sammartino Invitational finals, have invoked their rematch clause against Bob Orton Jr and Richard Hutton. This rematch for the United States Tag Team Championship will take place Friday on Showtime.
n addition, the Midnight Express, who did not have to defend their World Tag Team Championship at the Sammartino Invitational on Monday because they were still in the tournament until being eliminated in the Semifinals by Giant Baba and Dan Severn, will have to defend their belts this week against an as of yet undetermined opponent at Showtime!
Finally, World Champion Nick Bockwinkel will be the guest on the Hot Seat! All this and more on Showtime this Friday.
Splatter says: "Major League Wrestling. Don't you DARE miss it!"

Very cool. I had the Express as somewhat of a darkhorse to take it all. Good to see that the upsets kept everyone guessing.

Major League Wrestling (MLW): Showtime (first half of the show) Friday June 2 Toyota Center in Houston, TX
Start of Show: This week's edition of Showtime kicks off by showing highlights from last weekend's Sammartino Invitational tournament in Las Vegas that involved 40 tag teams. Footage is shown of the Regulators first round upset over United States Tag Team Champions Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff, World Champion Nick Bockwinkel and Harley Race defeating visiting Japan Tag Team Champions Antonio Inoki and Rikidozan as Bobby Heenan and Ox Baker held down Inoki's legs in the Second Round, the Road Warriors's Quarter Finals victory over visiting Europe Tag Team Champions the Greek Gods, Dan Severn's Semi Finals victory over World Tag Team Champions the Midnight Express, and Bobo Brazil and Mil Mascaras's First Round victory over King Kong Bundy and Ox Baker, Brazil and Mascaras's Second Round victory over visiting Georgia Tag Team Champions the Jacobins, Brazil and Mascaras's Quarter Finals victory over visiting Mid Atlantic Tag Team Champions the Gladiators, Brazil and Mascaras's Semi Finals victory over the Road Warriors by dq when Animal was disqualified for shoving the referee, and Brazil and Mascaras's Finals victory over Dan Severn and Giant Baba to win the Sammartino Invitational. Footage is also shown of the non tournament matches on the last day of the Sammartino Invitational where the Regulators defeated the Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff to win the United States Tag Team Championship on Memorial Day, Frank Gotch defeated United States Champion Buddy Rogers who intentionally took the countout defeat to save his title, and World Champion defeat Antonino Rocca with help from fellow Heenan Family members King Kong Bundy and Harley Race. The highlights end by showing how the briefcase with the $1 million dollar prize winnings was stolen by the Missing Link out of the hands of MLW owner and General Manager Bruno Sammartino and then handed over to the Missing Link's manager Killer Kowalski.
In the ring: After the highlights of the Sammartino Invitational conclude, Sammartino is in the ring with Brazil and Mascaras. Sammartino begins by saying that all of the visiting tag team champions who participated in last week's Sammartino Invitational have returned to their respective territories but negotiations have begun with some of those tag teams who may indeed end up returning to MLW on a more permanent basis later this summer. Sammartino then announces that Kowalski either turns over the $1 million right here and right now to Brazil and Mascaras or he will be immediately suspended indefinitely and charges will be filed with the LVPD. Kowalski appears with the Missing Link who is carrying the briefcase and tells Sammartino he took the money because the only reason Brazil and Mascaras even advanced to the Finals was because his Road Warriors, who completely dominated their Semi Finals match against Brazil and Mascaras who could not even get in a single offensive move, were disqualified by a referee who intentionally jumped in the way of Animal and was later found with a betting slip in his pocket for Brazil and Mascaras. Sammartino concedes this is somewhat true and that the referee in question has since been fired from MLW. Kowalski then challenges Brazil and Mascaras to a match against the Road Warriors next week on Showtime for the $1 million prize money and this time, to guarantee a non dq victory, he also challenges them to agree to have the match in a steel cage! Brazil and Mascaras nobly agree to this challenge with the stipulation that Sammartino hold the $ until next week's match, the first ever tag team steel cage match in MLW history, is over.
Valiants (managed by Captain Lou Albano) vs Heart Thrashers (managed by Cassandra). The Valiants started off strong but the Heart Thrashers regained control and maintained it for most of the match. The match ended when Brutus Beefcake gave Jimmy Valiant a studded armband smash and then threw him into Albano who had jumped on the ring apron in an effort to distract Beefcake and Buff Bagwell. As Jimmy Valiant ricocheted off of Albano, Beefcake nailed him with his FLYING KNEE SMASH for a three count and another victory by the Heart Thrashers.
Announcement by MLW spokesman Splatter: "Major League Wrestling's next PPV will be the Great American Bash at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas on Sunday July 2. Don't you DARE miss it!"
Playboy Buddy Rose vs Harley Race (managed by Bobby Heenan and accompanied by Heenan Family problem-solver Ox Baker). As Rose made his way to the ring, he once again was cheered loudly by the ladies who started flashing their cameras nonstop. Bobby Heenan then got on the microphone and said "Ladies, please control yourselves. If you want pictures that badly of myself, Harley Race, and Ox Baker, they are available for purchase at the merchandise stand in the corridor." Rose then grabbed the microphone and said "Bobby Heenan I don't think any of these ladies here want to see pictures of you, Race, and Baker together" which causes the crowd to laugh at the three members of the Heenan Family in the ring and the match is on! Rose started off in control until he threw Race into the turnbuckle as Race responded with a clothesline as Rose charged at him. A few moves later, Race won the match via his PILEDRIVER. Afterward, Baker climbed into the ring and gave Rose a vicious HEARTPUNCH for the humiliation he caused the Heenan Family prior to the start of the match.
United States Tag Team Champions the Regulators vs the Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff (managed by Nikita Breznikov) in a best 2 out of 3 falls title match. Prior to the start of the match, Volkoff sang the Soviet National Anthem to the derision of the Houston crowd. The Iron Sheik then grabbed the microphone and said "Cowboy Bob Orton Jr and Richard Hutton, you two American cowboys are going to submit tonight to the power of the CAMEL CLUTCH. Iran #1, Soviet Russia #1, USA #zero." The Texas crowd boos but then cheers loudly at the arrival of the United States Tag Team Champions the Regulators to begin the match. First Fall: The action shifted back and forth but the Iron Sheik hit Hutton twice in a row with his loaded boot and then made him tap out to the CAMEL CLUTCH. Second Fall: In a quick fall, Volkoff apparently had the match won via his NECKBREAKER DROP against Hutton when the Killer Bees suddenly appeared to break up the three count with a double elbow smash. The referee immediately called for the disqualification giving the iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff the victory 2-0 by dq. But since titles can not change hands by dq, the Regulators retained the United States Tag Team Championship. The Iron Sheik and Volkoff react in fury toward the Killer Bees for apparently preventing them from regaining the United States Tag Team Championship.
End of the first half of this week's Showtime. Second half is coming on my next post.

Major League Wrestling (MLW): Showtime (second half of the show) Friday June 2 Toyota Center in Houston, TX
Backstage: The second half of this week's Showtime begins with Sammartino backstage with the World Tag Team Champions Midnight Express and their manager Jim Cornette. Sammartino says he is about to announce who the Midnight Express will be defending their title against this week. Cornette then responds by asking to let chance decide this week's opponent for the Midnight Express. Cornette shows an air machine with a bunch of ping pong balls inside it and says he has put the names of all the wrestlers of MLW on the ping pong balls and that the Midnight Express, as the fighting champions they are, will valiantly agree to wrestle whichever wrestlers's names are on the drawn ping pong ball- the Valiants, the Killer Bees, whoever. Sammartino agrees to give this a chance and turns on the machine and draws out a ping pong ball. Sammartino then reads the names on the ping pong ball he drew: S.D. Jones and Virgil! Cornette then responds by saying the Midnight Express will honor the results of this lottery selection and tonight is SD Jones and Virgil's' s lucky break.
S.D. Jones and Virgil vs the Midnight Express (manged by Cornette) in a best 2 out of 3 falls contest for the World Tag Team Championship. Before the the match began, the Midnight Express arrogantly laughed about their seemingly upcoming title defense against Jones and Virgil. Fall #1: Virgil stopped the laughter of the Midnight Express by surprisingly getting in some moves against Stan Lane at the start of the first fall. But Lane made a defensive tag to Bobby Eaton and the two of them quickly wore down Virgil and pinned him via their VEG-O-MATIC tag finisher. Jones never even go to tag into the match! Second Fall: During this fall, an angry Sammartino suddenly appeared at ringside and glared at the Midnight Express and Cornette. Jones and Virgil gave the Midnight Express some trouble in this fall until Lane, after being thrown out of the ring by Jones, threw Jones threw a table to get disqualified. Sammartino then grabs the microphone and says the match will continue and, in the third fall, if the Midnight Express are disqualified again then they will lose the World Tag Team Championship to S.D. Jones and Virgil. Third Fall: Jones and Virgil had control early on and appeared set to score the monumental upset until Lane rebounded, after being thrown into the ropes, by delivering a piledriver to Jones. The Midnight Express then delivered a ROCKET LAUNCHER to Jones and Lane, who saw Jones's foot was on the ropes, delivered a SUPERKICK to Jones for the victory. Sammartino then grabbed the microphone and told the Midnight Express he found out that all the ping pong balls had SD Jones and Virgil's names written on them and that next week he will decide who they will defend their championship against. Sammartino then announces the Midnight Express next week will defend their World Tag Team Championship against the team that eliminated them from the Semi Finals of the Sammartino Invitational: Dan Severn and Giant Baba.
Hot Seat: World Champion Nick Bockwinkel and his manager Bobby Heenan are the guests.
Bill Apter: Nick Bockwinkel, when is your next title defense going to happen?"
Bockwinkel: "I don't know but I think it is time I get a new top challenger- I am tired of having to slap Antonino Rocca's pathetic butt around the ring."
Heenan (interjecting): "That's right. Rocca failed to take the title from Bockwinkel at either Backlash, Saturday Night's Main Event (SNME), or at last weekend's Sammartino Invitational. Rocca is just not up to OUR level."
Antonino Rocca suddenly appears on the Hot Seat to confront Bockwinkel and Heenan.
Rocca: How appropriate it is Bobby Heenan that you say OUR level as I have never gotten a chance to wrestle Bockwinkel one on one. Instead I always have to confront the entire Heenan Family. At SNME, I got ambushed by Ox Baker, who I also saw helped Race and Bockwinkel in the Sammartino Invitational by holding down Antonio Inoki's legs, on my way to the ring. And at the Sammartino Invitational it took an ambush by King Kong Bundy and Harley Race for Bockwinkel to defeat me. Is the Heenan Family courageous enough to give me a chance to take on Bockwinkel with no outside interference?"
Heenan: "Where do you get off talking to the World Champion like that? I think you need a lesson in respect. Gentlemen proceed."
Unnoticed by Rocca, Bundy, Baker, and Race suddenly appear in an ambush and brutally assault Rocca who afterward needs assistance to leave the Hot Seat area.
Frank Gotch vs United States Champion Buddy Rogers (with Maxine Babe) in a lumberjack title match. The lumberjacks are Yukon Eric, Jimmy Snuka, Danny Hodge, the Flying Redheads, the Valentines, Gorgeous George, the Sandman, and "Precious" Paul Ellering. Gotch stats off the match strong and nearly gets Rogers to submit to a crossface and arm bar. Gotch then throws Rogers out of the ring where he is double teamed by Yukon Eric and Jimmy Snuka before being thrown back into the ring. As he throws Rogers into the ring, Yukon Eric noticed Maxine Babe and takes his eyes off of the match to stare at her strongly. Rogers regains the offensive and twice nearly pins Gotch via a jumping knee smash and via an atomic drop. But Gotch regains control and nearly pins Rogers after two straight Iowa backdrops. Rogers leaves the ring in defense but accidentally on the wrong side as he is attacked by the Flying Redheads as Billy "Red" Lyons gives Rogers his SLEEPER HOLD before throwing him back into the ring to Gotch. Gotch then goes for the pin but Rogers just kicks out. Rogers finally manges to regain control and throws Gotch out of the ring where Gorgeous George smashes a steel chair over his head and the Sandman levels him with his SINGAPORE CANE. Yukon Eric was nearby but failed to come to Gotch's aid because he was intent on staring at Maxine Babe. Gotch is then thrown back into the ring where Rogers, with aid from the Valentines who each grab one of Rogers's hands for extra leverage, makes him tap out to his FIGURE-FOUR GRAPEVINE. Yukon Eric is still seen staring at Maxine Babe as she and Rogers celebrate in the ring as the show fades to black.
See you next week for Showtime in San Antonio when Bobo Brazil and Mil Mascaras will take on the Road Warriors in a steel cage tag team match for the Sammartino Invitational's $1 million prize money and the Midnight Express have to defend their World Tag Team Championship against Dan Severn and Giant Baba- the team that eliminated them from the Sammartino Invitational.

The ping pong angle was straight up Cornette/Southern style booking.. I gotta suggest an angle for ya...don't know if you ever did it. Sammartino is going to pick their opponents for the next show...if they Express happen to defeat them, have Cornette and the Express show up for a big party complete with a cake. They're celebrating how they outsmart Bruno, etc. The team they defeated, and this is Cornette and the Midnights, so it's going to be somewhat devious...have them come out and shove Cornette's face in the cake. This has been done countless times to Cornette in the past... LIke Yukon checking out Maxine...(like we all dont! )

I have to admit I never saw much of Cornette when he was in the South. I based my ping pong ball idea on last year's Smackdown angle where JBL picked his challenger from a hat. JBL picked Shannon Moore but then it turned out that all the papers in in the hat had Shannon Moore written on them. It will be interesting to see if the Midnight Express can defeat Dan Severn and Giant Baba this week after losing to them in the Semi Finals of the Sammartino Invitational two weeks ago.

Major League Wrestling: Showtime Preview for Friday June 9 @ SBC Center in San Antonio, TX
Major League Wrestling (MLW) continues its tour of Texas as this week's edition of Showtime is in San Antonio!
On last week's Showtime, Killer Kowalski returned the Sammartino Invitational's $1 million prize he stole from Bobo Brazil and Mil Mascaras on the condition that his Road Warriors get the opportunity to compete for the money against Brazil and Mascaras in a tag team match inside a steel cage. That match will happen on this week's Showtime!
Also, the Midnight Express, after failing to deceive MLW owner and General Manager Bruno Sammartino in their ping pong ball contender's lottery on last week's show, will have to defend their World Tag Team Championship this week in a best 2 out of 3 falls contest against Dan Severn and Giant Baba- the same team that eliminated them in the Semi Finals of the Sammartino Invitational two weeks ago.
In addition, after being ambushed on the Hot Seat last week, Antonino Rocca says he is determined to confront the entire Heenan Family this week. Furthermore, Rocca claims he is not coming alone!
All this and more, including United States Champion Buddy Rogers with Maxine Babe as the guests on the Hot Seat, this week on Showtime!
Note: This week's edition of MLW: Showtime will likely be "preempted" until Saturday (this is annually my busiest week of the year at work).

Major League Wrestling: Showtime (first half of the show) Friday June 9 @ SBC Center in San Antonio, TX
Start of Show: The Midnight Express's theme music is heard as the best 2 out of 3 falls match for the World Tag Team Championship between Dan Severn and Giant Baba vs the Midnight Express is set to kick off this week's show!
Match #1: Dan Severn and Giant Baba vs World Tag Team Champions Midnight Express (managed by Jim Cornette) in abets 2 out of 3 falls contest for the World Tag Team Championship.
Fall #1: The Midnight Express appeared to remember that Severn and Baba was the team that eliminated them in the Semi Finals of the Sammartino Invitational two weeks ago by taking this match seriously and used a series of quick tags to dominate the action for most of this fall against Severn. Severn managed to survive 5 pin attempts including one VEG-O-MATIC from the Midnight Express and even briefly gained the offensive after being thrown out of the ring by Stan Lane. But Lane maneuvered out of Severn's choke slam attempt (Choice chart) and tagged in Bobby Eaton who put Severn away with a stinging right hand and then got away with grabbing the ropes for extra leverage to get the three count against Severn and win the first fall. Giant Baba never even got into the match during this first fall as the Midnight Express controlled almost the entire action.
Fall #2: To ensure he got into the ring during this fall, Giant Baba started off against Lane and took control early with a series of forearm smashes and Baba Chops. Baba appeared to have the match won with a NECKBREAKER DROP against Lane but Cornette threw his tennis racket to Eaton who smashed it on the back of Baba's head to break up the three count. The Midnight Express then performed a double goozle followed by a flapjack against Baba. But Baba regained control with a Baba Chop followed by a pile driver and a boot to the face. Baba then won this fall via his NECKBREAKER DROP against Lane for the three count and to tie the match at one fall apiece.
Fall #3: The third fall proved to be extremely exciting as both sides combined for a total of 15 unsuccessful pin/submission attempts against each other in a fast-paced match that saw the San Antonio crowd stand the entire time as they realized either side could suddenly score the win in this deciding fall! Lane and Eaton started off strong by performing their devastating tag moves such as the double goozle and the flapjack to both Severn and Baba. Severn kept trying to wear down both Eaton and Lane with repeated fireman carry and slams. Neither Eaton or Lane nor Severn and Baba (with their respective finishers WAKIGATAME and NECKBREAKER DROP) could quite score the important pinfall against their opponents. The end finally came when Eaton threw Severn into the ropes and Severn rebounded off the ropes with an incredible flying body press which he turned into a pin attempt against Eaton. Cornette threw his tennis racket to Eaton. But Severn, apparently remembering what happened in the previous fall, appeared to be waiting for this and intercepted the racket which he smashed against the head of Eaton for good measure for the pinfall victory to win the match 2 falls to 1.
Dan Severn and Giant Baba are Major League Wrestling's (MLW's) new World Tag Team Champions!
Backstage: Antonino Rocca is approached by reporters who ask him who he is bringing with him tonight to confront the entire Heenan Family. Rocca responds that he is not going to say yet because he wants it to be a surprise for the Heenan Family.
Match #2: Danny Hodge vs Gorgeous George Hodge manged to survive 2 of George's SPINNING TOE HOLDS. Hodge twice manged to reverse George's momentum and wore George down with a series of armbars, Hodge Headlocks, and head scissors. Hodge ended up continuing his recent run of success by scoring the pinfall victory over George via his OKLAHOMA SIDEROLL. The announcers remark that Hodge looks especially tough when he faces lighter-weight competition such as George.
Splatter's announcement. After Hodge's victory, MLW spokeman Splatter's voice is suddenly heard throughout the SBC Center saying: "Coming on Sunday July 2- the Great American Bash. Don't you DARE miss it!"
Backstage: After Splatter's announcement, George is seen walking away backstage in an angry mood as reporters ask him about his reaction to suffering an upset at the hands of Hodge. After rudely ignoring several questions, George suddenly asks "What smells so bad back here?" George then sees his former enemy Jimmy Snuka walk past him on his way to the ring and says "I should have recognized that as the source of this rancid odor!"
Match #3: Jimmy Snuka vs the Sandman. The Sandman appeared more intoxicated than usual as he started off the match with a pathetic and unsuccessful attempt to bodyslam Snuka who responded with a vicious chop that sent Sandman slumping to the mat. Snuka then performed an incredible version of his SUPERFLY LEAP (+5) against the nearly comatose Sandman for the victory./color] The cameras then showed George watching this match backstage and reacting angrily to Snuka's easy victory after his surprising loss to Hodge.
Backstage: Killer Kowalski is with Hawk and Animal and reminds them that the Dungeon of Doom is going to become rich tonight after they defeat Bobo Brazil and Mil Mascaras in a tag team steel cage match tonight for the Sammartino Invitational's $1 million prize. Kowalski then tells the Road Warriors that they better redeem themselves after they lost in the Semi Finals of the Sammartino Invitational two weeks ago. Hawk tells Kowalski not to worry because the Road Warriors will make sure the money goes to who truly deserves it.
Match #4: Killer Bees vs Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff (managed by Nikita Breznikov). The Iron Sheik and Volkoff start things off by enraging the Texas crowd by singing the Soviet National Anthem. The Iron Sheik then provokes the San Antonio crowd by telling them that earlier today Volkoff, Breznikov, and himself toured the Alamo which they enjoyed very much because they got to learn how those Americans were all defeated and killed 170 years ago. The Iron Sheik then nearly causes a riot when he tells the crowd that he would have put both Davy Crockett and James Bowie in the CAMEL CLUTCH and then broke their backs to make them humble and claims that Crockett did not fight to the death but was instead killed by being shot in the back while trying to run away from certain defeat like a coward. The crowd reacts with thunderous chants of "USA,USA,USA" and cheers the arrival of the Killer Bees to start the match. The Iron Sheik and Volkoff controlled most of the match but the Killer Bees valiantly fought back via their MASKED CONFUSION routine. The crowd kept chanting "USA, USA, USA" to urge on the Killer Bees but the Iron Sheik and Volkoff regained the momentum. After hitting him several times with his loaded boot, the Iron Sheik placed Brunzell in the CAMEL CLUTCH for the victory much to the disgust of the crowd in San Antonio who littered the ring with debris in protest as the Iron Sheik, Volkoff, and Breznikov had to be escorted to the back with heavy security as it appeared chaos was about to break out in the SBC Center.
End of the first half of the show. Second half will be posted next.

Major League Wrestling: Showtime (second half of the show) Friday June 9 @ SBC Center in San Antonio, TX
Hot Seat: The guests are United States Champion Buddy Rogers and his valet Maxine Babe.
Bill Apter shows footage of last week's lumberjack match in which Rogers defended his championship against Frank Gotch as the Valentines grabbed Rogers's hands for extra leverage while Rogers made Gotch submit to his FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE. The footage also shows how Yukon Eric, one of the lumberjacks, lost interest in the match by becoming distracted by Maxine Babe who he continued to stare intently at for the duration of the match.
Apter: "Buddy Rogers, I would like to congratulate you for your victory last week against Frank Gotch but I'm afraid I can't due to the manner in which you won the match. Are you going to be teaming up now with the Valentines?"
Rogers: "I like the Valentines style. As Bobo Brazil and Mil Mascaras have already found out and Frank Gotch now knows, no one can keep up with the United States Champion Buddy Rogers. Whoooo!"
Rogers: "Now I need someone to step up who thinks he is actually at my level and thinks they can take the United States Championship away from me."
Suddenly Yukon Eric appears on the Hot Seat carrying flowers which he offers to Maxine Babe.
Apter: "Yukon Eric, what in the world are you doing here?"
Yukon Eric: "I am here to answer the challenge of Buddy Rogers and to ask Maxine Babe to go out with me on a date."
Yukon Eric (to Maxine Babe): "Maxine Babe, I think you are the cutest creature in the whole wide woods and I want to ask if you will please go out with me. I could take you back to my place where my granny could show you how I like my buzzard eggs boiled. I could also offer you a glass of white wine- my granny, my Cousin Luke, and myself just made a fresh batch last night."
Rogers: "Look at you! This is professional wrestling pal! If you want to dress like a hick, go back to your farm with Old Blue, your Cousin Luke, and your granny where you can shackle some corn, slop some hogs, eat your beef jerky, and make some moonshine. But don't come out here bothering me and my woman."
Yukon Eric: "Buddy Rogers, maybe Maxine Babe will see I am worthy of her if I defeat you at the Great American Bash for the United States Championship."
Yukon Eric then becomes distracted as Maxine Babe slowly advances toward him in a provocative manner. Rogers takes advantage of this distraction to smack Yukon Eric upside the head with the steel chair he was sitting on in the Hot Seat and then proceeds to apply his FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE and refuses to relinquish the hold until he is certain Yukon Eric is injured.
Maxine Babe: "How could you think I would ever be interested in you, you ear-less freak?"
Rogers: "Yukon Eric, I accept your challenge for a match against me for the United States Championship at Backlash- I will be able to make PPV money in the easiest title defense in my entire career."
Rogers and Maxine Babe then leave the Hot Seat and the Flying Redheads have to come out to help Yukon Eric to the back.
Match #6: Mil Mascaras and Bobo Brazil vs the Road Warriors (managed by Killer Kowalski) in a steel cage for the Sammartino Invitational's $1 million prize. The Road warriors dominate the entire match and score the victory when Hawk pins Brazil. Kowalski then grabs the briefcase containing the $1 million in triumph and enters the cage. Kowalski arrogantly taunts Brazil and Mascaras with the suitcase when suddenly Animal gives Kowalski a boot to the midsection and Hawk then gives their manager a vertical suplex. As the crowd watches on in astonishment, the Road Warriors then give their manager Kowalski a DOOMSDAY DEVICE. Hawk then grabs the briefcase that Kowalski dropped and hands it over to Brazil saying "This really belongs to you for winning the Sammartino Invitational. We only agreed to this match to prove a point." Hawk and Animal then walk over to where Kowalski is lying on the mat and tell him "Since you like tag team steel cage matches so much, me and Animal challenge you and a partner of your choice to confront us in a steel cage match against the Great American Bash. Hawk and Animal then kick their now former manager Kowalski and leave the cage to the cheers of the stunned crowd.
In the ring: Inside the still-erected steel cage from the previous match is Antonino Rocca and MLW owner and General Manager Bruno Sammartino.
Rocca says he is tired of being ambushed by different members of the Heenan Family as he was once again on last week's Hot Seat and he is now calling out the entire Heenan Family to meet him here and right now in the ring. Bobby Heenan and all of his family members (World Champion Nick Bockwinkel, Harley Race, King Kong Bundy, and Ox Baker) come to the ring where Rocca tells them he has gotten permission from Sammartino to confront them all at one time in the main event of the Great American Bash on July 2 in a War Games Match! Heenan asks Rocca if this is a War Games Match, where is his army- or is he able to find anyone willing to team up with him?
Rocca then introduces one by one who he will team up with in the War Games match against the entire Heenan Family.
First, Rocca will have on his side the man who served as the special referee in his match against Bockwinkel at Backlash only to be later given an AVALANCHE by Bundy when his back was turned. Here is one-half of the newly-crowned World Tag Team Champions Dan Severn.
Second, Rocca introduces the man who Ox Baker put into the hospital with his dreaded HEARTPUNCH, the other half of the newly-crowned World Tag Team Champions Giant Baba.
Third, as his final partner Rocca introduces the man who was once both also put into the hospital and even poisoned once before a match by Heenan and Race, Frank Gotch. Severn, Baba, and Gotch all join Rocca inside the still standing steel cage and face off with the Heenan Family. Bobby Heenan sneaks out of the cage as Gotch says, "Why wait until the Great American Bash? Lets get this started right now!" A wild brawl between the two sides commences that sees all the Heenan Family members eventually have to retreat out the door of the cage as Rocca, Gotch, Severn, and Baba stand alone in the center of the ring while the crowd goes wild and the show ends as the screen fades to black.

Thanks for the positive feedback Billy! I also enjoy reading about your LPW. For the War Games, I think I am going to use the War Games special match rules over at the Legends Yahoo group. This Friday in Major League Wrestling, Kowalski is going to identify who will team up with him against the Road Warriors in the steel cage at the Great American Bash!

Major League Wrestling (MLW) All Stars (my "B" show) Saturday June 10 (broadcast date).
After a three week absence, Major League Wrestling All Stars makes its return!
Match #1: S.D. Jones defeated Dark Knight. Jones easily won this match in just three moves via his Philly shuffle and KO punch.
Match #2: Virgil defeated "Precious" Paul Ellering via his COBRA CLUTCH.
Match #3: War Chief Omega defeated the Missing Link. War Chief Omega secured the upset over the Missing Link (who was not accompanied to the ring by his manager Killer Kowalski) with a TOMAHAWK THRUST.
Match #4: Playboy Buddy Rose defeated Scimitar. Scimitar started off strong and gave Rose lots of trouble with his Scimitar Chest Chops. But fan favorite Rose battled back for the win via a half Boston Crab.
Match #5: The Flying Redheads (managed by Captain Lou Albano) easily defeated the Country Rangers as Red Bastien pinned Dirty Black Bart via an ATOMIC DROP.
MLW's Grand Slam of the Week: Footage is shown from last Friday's edition of Showtime in the tag team steel cage match where the Road Warriors easily dominated and defeated Bobo Brazil and Mil Mascaras for the Sammartino Invitational's $1 million prize that the Road Warrior's manager Killer Kowalski earlier stole from the tournament winners Brazil and Mascaras. The footage then shows how Kowalski then grabs the briefcase containing the $1 million in triumph and enters the cage and arrogantly taunts Brazil and Mascaras until Animal suddenly gives Kowalski a boot to the midsection and Hawk then gives their manager a vertical suplex. The footage continues to show how the Road Warriors then give their manager Kowalski a DOOMSDAY DEVICE and Hawk then proceeds to grab the briefcase that Kowalski dropped and hands it over to Brazil saying "This really belongs to you for winning the Sammartino Invitational. We only agreed to this match to prove a point." Hawk and Animal then walk over to where Kowalski is lying on the mat and tell him "Since you like tag team steel cage matches so much, me and Animal challenge you and a partner of your choice to confront us in a steel cage match against us at the Great American Bash. The footage then ends with Hawk and Animal kicking their now former manager Kowalski and leaving the cage to the cheers of the stunned crowd.
The announcers on MLW: All Stars remark that Kowalski is expected to name his partner this Friday on MLW: Showtime!
Match #6: The Valentines defeated the Valiants (managed by Captain Lou Albano) by dq. Before the match, the Valentines refused to respond to questions by reporters about rumors that they are forming a faction with United States Champion Buddy Rogers. The match ended when Johnny Valiant was disqualified for slamming a steel chair against Johnny Valentine's head after the action spilled outside of the ring.
Add for the Great American Bash: Coming Sunday July 2, Major League Wrestling presents the Great American Bash! Already signed matches include a) a War Games match with Antonino Rocca, Frank Gotch and the new World Tag Team Champions Dan Severn and Giant Baba teaming up against the Heenan Family: World Champion Nick Bockwinkel, Harley Race, King Kong Bundy, and Ox Baker, b) Yukon Eric vs United States Champion Buddy Rogers, c) Road Warriors vs Killer Kowalski and a tag team partner to be named in a steel cage match. Additional matches to be announced later.
Match #7, the Main Event: United States Tag Team Champions the Regulators defeated the Heart Thrashers (managed by Cassandra). In a solid main event, Cassandra got clotheslined and tumbled over the top rope by Richard Hutton for trying to interfere. Bob Orton Jr. delivered a SUPERPLEX to Buff Bagwell to get the three count. After Bagwell, Brutus Beefcake, and Cassandra left the ring area, the Valentines suddenly ambushed the Regulators from behind and Greg Valentine applied his FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK to Hutton and refused to relinquish it until the Valiants came out to make the save as the show ends and the screen fades to black. See you Friday for Major League Wrestling: Showtime!

Major League Wrestling: Showtime Preview for Friday June 16 @ Erwin Center in Austin, TX
Major League Wrestling (MLW) continues its tour throughout Texas as it arrives in Austin- the capital of the Lone Star State- this Friday!
On last week's Showtime, a War Games match was set up for the Great American Bash with Antonino Rocca, Frank Gotch, Dan Severn , and Giant Baba challenging the Heenan Family: World Champion Nick Bockwinkel, Harley Race, King Kong Bundy, and Ox Baker. The conflict between the two sides continues this week as Frank Gotch will wrestle Harley Race in Showtime's main event and the winner of the match gets the right to have their team enter the third wrestler into the War Games match at the Great American Bash! Which side will win this important advantage?
Also, last week Dan Severn and Giant Baba won the World Tag Team Championship from the Midnight Express. After a week of complaining by the Midnight Express's manager Jim Cornette that Severn and Baba "stole our gold," a rematch is set for this week on Showtime!
In addition, both the Road Warriors and their former manager Killer Kowalski will be on the Hot Seat this week where they will sign the contract for their tag team steel cage match at the Great American Bash. Kowalski has vowed to identify on the Hot Seat this week who he has selected to enter the steel cage match with him to confront the Road Warriors at the Great American Bash!
Finally, the animosity between United States Champion Buddy Rogers and Yukon Eric (who has announced his desire to go out with Rogers's valet Maxine Babe) continues. Although he is set to confront Rogers at the Great American Bash for the United States Championship (and perhaps Maxine Babe's hand?), Yukon Eric is unable to compete this week due to the injury he suffered on the Hot Seat last week at the hands of Rogers. As a result, Yukon Eric has called home and got his Cousin Luke signed up with MLW. Cousin Luke will make his debut by wrestling Rogers this week!
Splatter says: "Major League Wrestling. Don't you DARE miss it!"

Major League Wrestling: Showtime Friday June 16 @ Erwin Center in Austin, TX First Half of the show
Start of Show: Just like last week, the show starts with the music for the Midnight Express being played as the rematch between the Midnight Express versus World Tag Team Champions Dan Severn and Giant Baba is set to start off this week's show.
Match #1: World Tag Team Champions Dan Severn and Giant Baba defend their belts against the Midnight Express (managed by Jim Cornette) in a best 2 out of 3 falls match.
Fall #1
Dan Severn started off this fall strongly in control and leveled both Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane with multiple fireman's carry slams and German suplexes. But the Midnight Express were finally able to turn things around and the end came when Eaton pinned Giant Baba via VEG-O-MATIC. The Midnight Express are up 1-0.
Fall #2
The Midnight Express had Baba in serious trouble early and it appeared they were set to win this fall and thus also regain the World Tag Team Championship. But Baba finally countered a move by Lane and tagged in Severn who quickly proceeded to make Lane tap out to WAKIGATAME. Dan Severn and Giant Baba and the Midnight Express are now tied 1-1.
Fall #3
In this third and deciding fall, the Midnight Express once again had Baba in serious trouble early on. Dan Severn never even got in the match. The end came when Eaton pinned Baba via a top rope elbow and then placed his feet on the ropes for extra leverage as the referee made the three count. The Midnight Express win the match 2-1 and regain the World Tag Team Championship! As the Midnight Express were celebrating in the ring, Major League Wrestling's (MLW's) owner and general manager Bruno Sammartino came out and told them that their first title defense would be at the Great American Bash and their opponents then will be Bobo Brazil and Mil Mascaras- the team that actually won the Sammartino Invitational last month!
Match #2: Danny Hodge defeated the Sandman.. Hodge continued his recent run of success by defeating the Sandman via the OKLAHOMA SIDEROLL in just 4 moves!
Match #3: Bob Orton Jr vs Greg Valentine.
Before this match started, replays from last week's main event on Major League Wrestling: All Stars was shown in which the United States Tag Team Champions the Regulators (Orton Jr and Richard Hutton) defeated the Heart Thrashers (Brutus Beefcake and Buff Bagwell). The footage ends by showing how, after Bagwell, Brutus Beefcake, and their manager Cassandra left the ring area, the Valentines suddenly ambushed the Regulators from behind and Greg Valentine applied his FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK to Hutton and refused to relinquish it until the Valiants came out to make the save.
Now the Valentines are in the ring and both of them suddenly give a four fingered hand sign. The announcers respond with confusion, what does this hand signal being given by the Valentines mean? The Valentines then announce that they are challenging the Regulators to a best 2 out of 3 falls match at the Great American Bash for the United States Tag Team Championship. Orton Jr and Hutton then come out to the ring for Orton Jr.'s match against Greg Valentine. Hutton is on crutches from last week's attack but is expected back in time for the Great American Bash. The Regulators accept the Valentines challenge to meet at the Great American Bash and the match between Orton Jr. and Greg Valentine then begins.
Greg Valentine started off in control by giving Orton Jr a shoulder tackle followed by a flurry of punches. But Orton Jr came back and nailed Greg Valentine with a piledriver followed by a stepover toehold. However, Greg Valentine regained the offensive and appeared to have Orton Jr pinned via a neckbreaker but Hutton hit Greg Valentine on the head from out side of the ring with one of his crutches to break up the three count. Orton Jr. regained control of the match as Greg Valentine was still stunned from being hit by Hutton's crutch and nailed Greg Valentine with a middle rope splash and then, to the cheers of the crowd, knocked out Johnny Valentine who was trying to interfere in the match. Orton Jr then finished off Greg Valentine via a SUPERPLEX for the victory and then told the Valentines "See you boys at the Bash."
In the ring: The Iron Sheik, Nikolai Volkoff, and their manager Nikita Breznikov announce that they are disgusted to be here in Austin- the capital of Texas and named after the father of Texas-Stephen F. Austin who they claim the Iron Sheik could put in the CAMEL CLUTCH and break his back to make him humble if he was still alive today. The Iron Sheik and Volkoff also say they had the displeasure of being here this Wednesday June 14 because that is the national holiday Flag Day and all they saw around town were flags of the United States. The Iron Sheik and Volkoff say they want everyone now instead to show respect to the Soviet flag and they want this done at the Great American Bash (GAB) The Iron Sheik and Volkoff then challenge any two wrestlers back in the locker room to meet them at the GAB in a flag match where the first team to capture their own flag wins the match and then the flag of the victors will be raised to the rafters and the losers will then have to salute the flag of their opponents. The Killer Bees then come out and accept the challenge to meet the Iron Sheik and Volkoff in a flag match at the Great American Bash!
End of the First Half of the show. The Second Half will be posted next.

Major League Wrestling: Showtime Friday June 16 @ Erwin Center in Austin, TX Second Half of the show (first half is on my previous post)
Match #4: Cousin Luke vs United States Champion Buddy Rogers (non-title match, Maxine Babe is Rogers's valet). Rogers enters the ring first and stuns the crowd by giving the same mysterious four fingered hand signal as the Valentines did earlier tonight. The announcers react once again with confusion about the meaning of this sign- especially since the Valentines and Rogers have not been seen together so far. Rogers announces that he is so confident that he is going to defeat Yukon Eric at the Great American Bash that he is willing to put not just the United States Championship on the line but also Maxine Babe as well. As Maxine Babe reacts with a mixed look of surprise and disgust, Rogers explains that if Yukon Eric somehow defeats him at the Great American Bash, then he will get to date Maxine Babe for one whole night- even though it means Rogers will probably have to spray Maxine Babe with disinfectant before he can touch her again.
Yukon Eric then announces that, since he is unable to compete this week due to the injury he suffered at the hands of Rogers on the Hot Seat last week, he has brought in his kin Cousin Luke to wrestle Rogers. Cousin Luke then comes out to the song "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" and performs the Hillbilly Hop with Yukon Eric as the crowd claps in tune to the song. Yukon Eric tries to urge Maxine Babe to join them in the Hillbilly Hop- but she refuses.
As Cousin Luke is busy stomping his foot and clapping his hands, Buddy Rogers starts off the match with a running tackle form behind to Cousin Luke and then nails him with a piledriver. Rogers went for the quick pin, but Cousin Luke kicked out. Rogers then immediately hit Cousin Luke with his finisher the FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE for the victory as Yukon Eric was too distracted staring at Maxine Babe to make any effort to save Cousin Luke.
Hot Seat: This week the Road Warriors and their former manager Killer Kowalski, along with Kowalski's mystery tag team partner, are the guests as they will sign their contract to meet in a tag team steel cage match at the Great American Bash (GAB).
After the Road Warriors sign the contract, Kowalski starts to laugh diabolically and tells them he has had the stipulations for the match changed and it is now a six man tag team steel cage elimination match and the Road Warriors have to choose their partner by next week or they will be wrestling Kowalski and his two partners alone at the GAB.
Apter then asks Kowalski who his tag team partners will be at the GAB. Kowalski points and says "them" and suddenly the Road Warriors are attacked from behind by the Gladiators Brute and Massacre who Kowalski explains he has hired from the Mid Atlantic Territory until the GAB is over!
As Hawk and Animal are knocked out and lying on the floor, Kowalski reminds them that they have one week to choose their partner for their match at the GAB!
Backstage: Jimmy Snuka is being interviewed by a reporter for MLW when suddenly he hears the words "remember me?" and is suddenly attacked by a steel chair by Gorgeous George. George then tells Snuka who is now lying on the concrete floor that Snuka only won their steel cage match at Backlash last month because the steel cage is Snuka's type of environment- animals like him should feel naturally at home in a cage. George says he is demanding another shot at Snuka at the GAB and this time the type of match will be something George is more comfortable with- a dog collar match!
Add for the Great American Bash (GAB): Coming Sunday July 2, Major League Wrestling presents the Great American Bash! Already signed matches include a) a War Games match with Antonino Rocca, Frank Gotch, Dan Severn, and Giant Baba teaming up against the Heenan Family: World Champion Nick Bockwinkel, Harley Race, King Kong Bundy, and Ox Baker, b) Yukon Eric vs United States Champion Buddy Rogers, c) Road Warriors and a tag team partner to be named vs Killer Kowalski and the Gladiators in a tag team steel cage elimination match. d) Bobo Brazil and Mil Mascaras vs World Tag Team Champions the Midnight Express in a best 2 out of 3 falls match, e) United States Tag Team Champions the Regulators (Bob Orton Jr and Dick Hutton) vs the Valentines in a best 2 out of 3 falls match, f) Jimmy Snuka vs Gorgeous George in a dog collar match, g) Killer Bees vs Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff in a flag match. Additional matches to be announced later.
Backstage: Bobo Brazil and Mil Mascaras run into Killer Kowalski and the Gladiators. Brazil and Mascaras complain that when they got back the briefcase containing the $1 million for winning the Sammartino Invitational from Kowalski last week, there was $500,000 missing. Kowalski responds, "How do you think I paid the Mid Atlantic Territory to allow me to borrow the Gladiators for a few weeks? I knew ahead of time that I could not trust the Road Warriors." Brazil and Mascaras then challenge the Gladiators to a match next week on Showtime!
As Kowalski is starting to walk away, he runs into Sammartino who tells Kowalski that next week he will have to face the Road Warriors mystery partner in a singles match on Showtime!
Match #5: Frank Gotch vs Harley Race (managed by Bobby Heenan). Gotch was accompanied to the ring by his teammates (Antonino Rocca, Severn, and Baba) for their upcoming War Games match at the GAB. Race was accompanied to the ring by his teammates (World Champion Nick Bockwinkel, King Kong Bundy, and Ox Baker) for the upcoming War Games match at the Great American Bash. It was announced that the winner of this match would receive the right to enter the third wrestler in the steel cage at the War Games match and thus give his team an important advantage.
The match went back and forth but Race ultimately pulled off the win via a PILEDRIVER as Baker assisted him by holding down Gotch's legs from outside of the ring during the three count. The Heenan Family now has won the right to enter the third, fifth, and seventh wrestlers into the War Games match which means they will at times have an advantage of 2 on 1, 3 on 2, and 4 on 3 in the War Games! As the Heenan Family celebrates, the show ends and the screen fades to black.

Major League Wrestling (MLW) All Stars (my "B" show) Saturday June 17 (broadcast date).
Match #1: "Precious" Paul Ellering defeated War Chief Omega by countout. Ellering controlled the entire match to the extent that War Chief Omega was too battered to climb back into the ring after being thrown outside to the floor by Ellering. After obtaining the victory, Ellering got on the microphone and announced he knew the meaning of the mysterious four fingered hand sign being flashed by United States Champion Buddy Rogers and also separately by the Valentines and that soon everyone else would know too!
Match #2: The Valiants (managed by Captain Lou Albano) defeated the Country Rangers (Dirty Black Bart and Austin Turk). Before this tag team match began, replays from Friday's edition of MLW:Showtime were shown in which the Midnight Express regained the World Tag Team Championship from Dan Severn and Giant Baba. Upon entering the ring, the Country Rangers tried to obtain the support of their fellow Texans in the crowd, but instead they were booed unmercifully. Although they were on defense against a clearly better tag team, the Country Rangers managed to prolong the match with a good series of defensive tags. The end came when the Valiants performed their TOP ROPE ELBOW tag finisher to Austin Turk. Dirty Black Bart successfully made the pin save. But as Bart was returning back to this corner, Johnny Valiant immediately hit Austin Turk with his SPINNING ELBOW for the three count.
Match #3: S.D. Jones defeated the Missing Link (managed by Killer Kowalski). The Missing Link started off really strong with a shoulder tackle followed by flailing forearms, a bite to Jones's forehead, a Link bodyslam, and a running knee lift. Jones managed to gain control and the action proceeded to shift back and forth. The end came when Jones dodged a dropkick by the Missing Link and then leveled the Missing Link with a suplex followed by a HEADBUTT for the three count. After the match, Kowalski screamed and hollered at the Missing Link for his upset defeat to S.D. Jones.
Major League Wrestling's Grand Slam of the Week: The footage from Friday's edition of Showtime shows the Road Warriors signing a contract to meet their former manager Killer Kowalski and a mystery partner in a steel cage match at the Great American Bash. After the Road Warriors sign the contract, Kowalski is seen laughing and informing the Road warriors that their match is now a six man tag team steel cage elimination match and then announces his partners will be the Gladiators who he has temporarily hired from the Mid Atlantic Territory to put the Road warriors out of commission. The Gladiators then suddenly show up and attack the Road Warriors from behind and Kowalski tells the Road Warriors they have one week to choose their partner for the Great American Bash. The footage ends with MLW's owner and general manager Bruno Sammartino telling Kowalski that he will have to face the Road Warriors's mystery partner in a match next week on Showtime! Who have the Road Warriors chosen as their tag team partner?
Match #4. Playboy Buddy Rose defeated Virgil. As Rose came out once again to the adoration of all the Texas ladies, Virgil as seen on camera shifting some type of foreign object around in his hands. Rose began the match by hurling Virgil strongly across the ring and into the opposite turnbuckle. As Virgil crashed to the match, Rose noticed and snagged the foreign object from his hands which he used to smash Virgil upside the head for the three count. To the crowd's delight, Rose managed to defeat Virgil in less than 20 seconds!
Match #5, the Main Event for All Stars: The Flying Redheads (managed by Captain Lou Albano) defeated the Heart Thrashers (managed by Cassandra). Billy "Red" Lyons started off the match by dodging a clothesline from Buff Bagwell and then responded in tandem with his tag team partner Red Bastien with a series of rapid fire dropkicks. Lyons then appeared to have this match quickly won with a SLEEPER to Bagwell as Bastien nailed Brutus Beefcake with a flying head scissors to prevent him from making the pin save. But Cassandra got on the ring apron and apparently said something to upset Lyons who proceeded to release his hold on Bagwell and chase Cassandra around the ring to the cheers of the crowd. But Bagwell left the ring and nailed Lyons with a forearm shot from behind and then threw Lyons back into the ring while tagging in Beefcake. Beefcake worked over both Lyons and Bastien and almost pinned Bastien via a studded armband smash. But Bastien managed to make a defensive tag to Lyons who went on the offensive and finally managed to make Beefcake tap out to his FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK.
See you Friday for Major League Wrestling(MLW): Showtime!
