It is now time for Major League Wrestling's (MLW's) Power 25!
Major League Wrestling has assembled a panel of wrestling experts from across the globe who will regularly determine who are the top 25 wrestlers in Major League Wrestling and rank them accordingly. Major League Wrestling (MLW) AWA:RAW Thursday August 17, 2006 Staples Center in Los Angles, CA (First Half of the show)
With only 10 more days to go until Summer Slam, welcome to AWA:RAW!
Match #1: Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs Iron Sheik (accompanied by Nikolai Volkoff and manager Nikita Breznikov)
Volkoff started trying to sing the Soviet national anthem, but Duggan ran to the ring with his 2X4 to chase off both Volkoff and Breznikov. Duggan then began the match by giving the Iron Sheik a double forearm smash followed by some wild haymakers, 2 straight Tough Guy clotheslines, a spinning bodyslam, and then his FLYING SPEAR. After delivering his finisher, it looked like Duggan had the match won. But Breznikov reached through the ropes and struck Duggan with a club to break up the 3 count. The Iron Sheik then took over and proceeded to batter away on Duggan and won the match with his CAMEL CLUTCH. Volkoff then told Duggan that on next week's edition of AWA:RAW it would be his (Volkoff's) turn to beat Duggan's scummy American a*s.
Winner: Iron Sheik
In the Ring: Larry Zbyszko and his bodyguard Cowboy Bob Orton Jr.
Zbyszko started off by telling the crowd that he sees there is a full house tonight in Los Angeles- and of course it helped because they all knew he (Zbyszko) would be here. Zbyszko then announced that instead of an edition of Larry Land, this week he is going to give a demonstration about what happens to those who think they can try and humiliate him. Out to the ring comes Koko B. Ware- who two weeks ago on Larry Land had his bird Frankie attack and take a dump on Zbyszko's head which in turn caused Zbyszko last week to hire Orton Jr. as his manager.
Match #2: Koko B. Ware vs Cowboy Bob Orton Jr (accompanied by Larry Zbyszko)
As Ware set Frankie down on his post outside of the ring, Orton Jr attacked him from behind with a vertical suplex followed by a dropkick and a middle rope splash. Ware attempted to roll out of the ring, but Orton Jr followed him out where he smashed him in the back of the head and threw him back into the ring. Later in the match, Ware managed a very brief comeback and nailed Orton Jr with some combo punches but then missed a snapmare. Orton Jr,. responded by choosing (ch G) to give Ware a power bomb. Ware spilled out of the ring where he was attacked viciously and slapped around by Zbyszko while Orton Jr distracted the referee. Zbyszko then threw Ware back into the ring where a waiting Orton. Jr gave him a SUPERPLEX for the victory.
Winner: Cowboy Bob Orton Jr
Backstage: Mil Mascaras talks to Bobo Brazil in the locker room.
Mascaras: "Bobo, you know, we still don't have a match yet for Summer Slam."
Brazil: "Yeah, you have any ideas?"
Mascaras: "I just came from Sammartino's office and they said we could appear on the PPV if we want to wrestle each other at Summer Slam."
Brazil: "You mean me and you, who together won the Sammartino Invitational last March, competing against each other in the ring?"
Mascaras: "Yeah, you want to do it?"
Brazil: "Lets do it."
Mascaras and Brazil then shake hands to finalize their agreement and these two friends will indeed wrestle each other at Summer Slam!
Intercontinental Championship Tournament Semi Finals
Match #3: Antonino Rocca vs Ray Stevens (accompanied by manager Bobby Heenan and Ox Baker- the Heenan Family's "problem-solver")
Stevens started things off by giving Rocca some brawling punches but Rocca soon countered and almost made Stevens submit to a crushing body scissors. Rocca then got Stevens into his ARGENTINIAN BACKBREAKER- but Heenan jumped on the apron to distract the referee before Stevens could submit. Rocca dropped Stevens and went over to grab Heenan and, after seeking the crowd's approval, hit him in the face which caused Heenan to stumble off the apron and into the arms of Baker. But Heenan's distraction allowed Stevens enough time to recover and he snuck up behind Rocca and gave him a face bite. But Rocca was soon able to counter Stevens' offense and a couple of minutes later had Stevens in another ARGENTINIAN BACKBREAKER and this time Stevens submitted. Rocca has advanced to the Final Round of the Intercontinental Championship Tournament at Summer Slam!
Winner: Antonino Rocca
End of the First Half. The Second Half includes the other Semi Final match of the Intercontinental Championship Tournament, a #1 contender's match between the Killer Bees and the Vachons, and the main event of Jim Londos vs King Kong Bundy and will be posted shortly!

Major League Wrestling (MLW) AWA:RAW Thursday 08/17/06 Staples center in Los Angles, CA (Second Half of the show-First Half is posted above)
Intercontinental Championship Tournament Semi Finals
it is time for the other Semi Final match of the Intercontinental Championship Tournament to determine who will wrestle Antonino Rocca in the Final Round match at Summer Slam!
Match #4: Don Muraco vs Larry Zbyszko (accompanied by body guard Cowboy Bob Orton Jr.)
Things started off in this match between the two rule breakers with Zbyszko stalling for awhile instead of locking up with Muraco until Zbyszko finally nailed Muraco with a sucker punch. The offensive shifted back and forth early in the match between Muraco and Zbyszko until Muraco hit Zbyszko with an Asiatic Spike. Zbyszko recoiled by falling on his back and Muraco went for the pin fall- but Zbyszko managed to kick out. A few moves later, it looked like Muraco might have secured himself a victory and a spot in the Intercontinental Championship Tournament's Final Round at Summer Slam when he nailed Zbyszko with a Hawaiian Hammer. But Zbyszko's body guard Orton Jr jumped on the apron with some unidentified object in his fist. As a confused Muraco advanced toward Orton Jr, Zbyszko grabbed him (Muraco) from behind and held him as Orton Jr nailed Muraco with the object in his fist without causing Zbyszko to get disqualified. Zbyszko then proceeded to continue working over Muraco and soon put him away with a PILEDRIVER. Zbyszko advances to face Antonino Rocca in the Intercontinental Championship Tournament Finals at Summer Slam!
Winner: Larry Zbyszko
Following the match after Zbyszko and Orton Jr had left the ring, the LA crowd erupted in cheers as Superfly Jimmy Snuka suddenly made his first appearance since being placed on the injured list due to Muraco's blind sided attack upon him back at the Great American Bash. Snuka told Muraco that, despite losing his Semi Final match against Zbyszko tonight, that Muraco still had a match at Summer Slam. Snuka explains that he just arranged with Sammartino's office to make his return form the injured list at Summer Slam with a match against Don Muraco and that he (Snuka) is looking for some payback!
Match #5: Killer Bees vs the Vachons in a #1 contender's match
The winner of this match will receive a title shot against MLW Tag Team Champions the Heart Thrashers on next week's edition of AWA:RAW!
MLW Tag Team Champions the Heart Thrashers (Brutus Beefcake and Buff Bagwell) and their manager Cassandra (from COTG) helped provide commentary for this match to determine who they would be defending their tag team championship against next week. After bragging how they would get revenge at Summer Slam upon Phantasy and the Barroom Heroes in their interpromotional mixed-tag match for the attacks suffered upon them last week, the Heart Thrashers remarked that they hoped the Killer Bees won this #1 contender's match because, unlike the Vachons who they respect as formidable opponents, they consider B. Brian Blair and Jim Brunzell a couple of wimps.
But the Heart Thrashers were thus not pleased by what happened in the match as the Vachons controlled almost all of the action and won when Mad Dog Vachon pinned Jim Brunzell via PILEDRIVER. The Vachons will will wrestle MLW Tag Team Champions the Heart Thrashers in a best 2 out of 3 falls title match next week on AWA:RAW! Summer Slam ADD: Sunday August 27. 1. Jim Londos vs World Champion Nick Bockwinkel (steel cage) 2. Frank Gotch vs Diamond Dallas Page vs MLW Champion and United States Champion Buddy Rogers in a triple threat two falls match.. The first fall will be for Rogers' United States Championship and the second fall will be for Rogers' MLW Championship 3. Road Warriors vs Bruiser Brody and Steve "Dr. Death" Williams 4. Fabulous Kangaroos vs World Tag Team Champions the Midnight Express in a best 2 out of 3 falls contest 5. MLW Chairmen Bruno Sammartino vs Ivan Koloff 6. Cassandra and MLW Tag Team Champions the Heart Thrashers (Beefcake and Bagwell) vs Phantasy and the Barroom Heroes (Sandman and Justin Credible) in an inter-promotional mixed tag match. 7. Intercontinental Championship Tournament Finals: Antonino Rocca vs Larry Zbyszko 8. Giant Baba vs Harley Race 9. Mil Mascaras vs Bobo Brazil 10. Jimmy Snuka vs Don Muraco MLW spokesman Splatter says: "Major League Wrestling (MLW). Don't you DARE miss it!"
Match #6, the main event: Jim Londos vs King Kong Bundy (accompanied by manager Bobby Heenan and the rest of the Heenan Family: World Champion Nick Bockwinkel, Ray Stevens, and Ox Baker).
The entire Heenan Family, including Londos' Summer Slam opponent World Champion Nick Bockwinkel, came out and surrounded the ring for this match!
Despite the Heenan Family's attempts to distract and intimidate him, Londos managed several impressive offensive series against Bundy including an impressive crotch lift and slam! At one point it appeared that Londos had Bundy in trouble with a sleeper grip, but Bundy managed to roll out of the ring. Londos followed only to get ambushed by the entire Heenan Family as Bundy distracted the referee. Baker and Bockwinkel then put Londos back into the ring up and up against a turnbuckle where he was then immediately hit with an AVALANCHE from Bundy who pinned him for the victory.
Winner: King Kong Bundy
Right after the match ended, the Crusher and Curt Hennig ran down to the ring where Curt told the Heenan Family that his father Larry Hennig returns from the injured list next week and that Sammartino has granted the Hennigs and the Crusher a 6 man tag team elimination match against Stevens, Bundy, and Baker as the main event next week on AWA:RAW. Heenan responded good because his family would put Larry Hennig right back on the injured list and this time give him some company! Londos then grabbed the microphone and told the Hennigs and the Crusher to ask Sammartino to make this an 8 man tag team elimination match because he wants both himself (Londos) and his Summer Slam opponent Bockwinkel involved in the match as well so he can give Bockwinkel a taste of what he is going to get at Summer Slam!
End of show as screen fades to black- be sure to check back later this week for the results of Major League Wrestling's (MLW's) other brand- the NWA!

Major League Wrestling (MLW) NWA:NITRO Friday 08/18/06 The Pond Anaheim, CA (First Half of the show)
With only 9 days to go until Summer Slam, the NWA brand of Major League Wrestling (MLW) arrives in Anaheim!
Match #1: Roy Heffernan (accompanied by Al Costello and manager Captain Kangaroo) vs an unannounced member of the Midnight Express
On last week's edition of NWA:NITRO, the Fabulous Kangaroos won the right to challenge the World Tag Team Champions the Midnight Express in a best 2 out of 3 falls match at Summer Slam and Heffernan challenged any member of the Midnight Express to face him in singles action this week. The Midnight Express and Jim Cornette last week promised to have a Midnight Express member wrestle Heffernan but refused to say whether it would be Bobby Eaton or Stan Lane.
Heffernan gets into the ring with Costello and Captain Kangaroo in his corner on the ringside floor. Cornette, Eaton, and Lane arrive in the ring and Cornette tells the Fabulous Kangaroos that the contract they signed to wrestle at Summer Slam would be the Fabulous Kangaroos (Heffernan and Costello) vs the Midnight Express but the contract did not specify that Heffernan and Costello would only wrestle Eaton and Lane and in fact Cornette has added a third member to the Midnight Express who will wrestle Heffernan tonight. Cornette adds that this new member of the Midnight Express will also wrestle alongside Eaton and Lane at Summer Slam which means the Fabulous Kangaroos vs all of the Midnight Express for the World Tag Team Championship is now a best 2 out of 3 falls handicap match!
Cornette then introduces the newest member of the Midnight Express: Loverboy Dennis Condrey who will wrestle Heffernan in singles action tonight!
Heffernan vs Condrey turned out to be a great opening bout and the action spilled outside of the ring multiple times which caused Costello, Captain Kangaroo, Cornette, Eaton, and Lane to become involved in the match. Heffernan performed moves such as the Kangaroo Kick and the Crocodile Smash against Condrey who during the course of the match actually managed to survive a total of seven different pin/submission attempts made on him by Heffernan. At one point, it looked like Heffernan had Condrey about to tap out to the STEP OVER TOEHOLD but Cornette jumped on the apron to distract the referee which allowed Eaton to run in the ring and clothesline Heffernan to break up the hold and allow Condrey to regain the offensive. At another point, it appeared that Condrey had Heffernan in a pinning position following a gut wrench suplex. But Captain Kangaroo reached under the ropes to grab Condrey's foot and prevent him from making the pin attempt. The match finally ended when Heffernan dodged a knee drop from Condrey and responded with another Kangaroo Kick followed by another STEP OVER TOEHOLD that this time forced Condrey to submit.
Winner: Roy Heffernan
Match #2: Billy "Red" Lyons vs Ivan Koloff (accompanied by the Terrible Turk)
Challenged last week to a match at Summer Slam by his old enemy MLW Chairman Bruno Sammartino, Ivan Koloff dominated this match against Lyons who failed to land a single offensive move. But Koloff seemed more determined to send a message to Sammartino than on actually winning the match as he got disqualified by the referee after repeatedly hitting Lyons with his chain passed to him from the outside by the Terrible Turk.
Winner: Billy "Red" Lyons by DQ
As Lyons' face gushed out blood, Koloff announced that the same fate awaited Sammartino at Summer Slam. MLW Chairman Sammartino then appeared and announced that, since he has not wrestled in a while, he is going to have a tune up match next week on the last NWA:NITRO before Summer Slam and the match he is going to make will be himself (using the Sammartino card from LOW Bootlegs) vs Ivan Koloff's partner the Terrible Turk!
Match #3: Boogie Woogie Man and Virgil vs the Barroom Heroes (Sandman and Justin Credible and they are accompanied by their manager Phantasy-from COTG).
Boogie Woogie Man started off the match against Justin Credible and looked great as he gave Credible a running elbow smash and some roundhouse punches and a couple of wind-up elbow drops that forced Credible to leave the ring and regroup. After being stomped on while reentering the ring, Credible managed to dodge an ear clap and responded with a DDT which allowed him to tag in the Sandman. The Sandman began working over Boogie Woogie Man until Boogie Woogie Man was able to make a defensive tag to Virgil. Virgil entered the match on fire as he gave Sandman a kick to the stomach followed by combo punches and his COBRA CLUTCH- but the Sandman refused to submit. The Sandman was able to gain the offensive and almost pinned Virgil via a HARDCORE DDT-but Virgil just managed to kick out. Phantasy then jumped on the ring apron to distract the referee while Credible threw Sandman his SINGAPORE CANE which he used to whack Virgil without the referee noticing. The referee then turned around to make the three count.
The Barroom Heroes managed to win tonight but how will they and Phantasy do against the MLW Tag Team Champions the Heart Thrashers and Cassandra in their inter-promotional mixed tag match at Summer Slam?
Winners: The Barroom Heroes
Summer Slam ADD: Sunday August 27. 1. Jim Londos vs World Champion Nick Bockwinkel (steel cage) 2. Frank Gotch vs Diamond Dallas Page vs MLW Champion and United States Champion Buddy Rogers in a triple threat two falls match.. The first fall will be for Rogers' United States Championship and the second fall will be for Rogers' MLW Championship 3. Road Warriors vs Bruiser Brody and Steve "Dr. Death" Williams 4. Fabulous Kangaroos vs World Tag Team Champions the Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton, Stan Lane, and Dennis Condrey) in a best 2 out of 3 falls handicap match. 5. MLW Chairmen Bruno Sammartino vs Ivan Koloff 6. Cassandra and MLW Tag Team Champions the Heart Thrashers (Beefcake and Bagwell) vs Phantasy and the Barroom Heroes (Sandman and Justin Credible) in an inter-promotional mixed tag match. 7. Intercontinental Championship Tournament Finals: Antonino Rocca vs Larry Zbyszko 8. Giant Baba vs Harley Race 9. Mil Mascaras vs Bobo Brazil 10. Jimmy Snuka vs Don Muraco MLW spokesman Splatter says: "Major League Wrestling (MLW). Don't you DARE miss it!"
End of the First Half of MLW"s weekly edition of NWA:NITRO. The Second Half will be posted next and will include Match #2 in the best of 7 hardcore series between Hardcore Hodge and Steve Corino, Road Warrior Animal vs Steve "Dr. Death" Williams, the newest member of the Four Horsemen-Harley Race on the Hot seat, and the main event of Frank Gotch vs MLW Champion and United States Champion Buddy Rogers!

Major League Wrestling (MLW) NWA:NITRO Friday 08/18/06 The Pond in Anaheim, CA (Second Half of the show, First Half is posted above)
Match #4: Hardcore Hodge vs Steve Corino, a ladder match
This is match #2 in the best of 7 series between Hodge and Corino to determine who is the better hardcore/old school wrestler. Following his victory last week in a falls count anywhere match, Corino has a 1-0 series lead. Can Hodge even things up in tonight's ladder match?
Ring announcer Gary Michael Cappetta explained to the crowd that the winner of this match would be the wrestler who could successfully climb the ladder and retrieve a metal rod hanging from the ceiling.
Hodge started off in control and sought to wear down Corino with a series of moves such as his Hodge Headlock, arm bars, and a sleeper. But Corino was eventually able to counter and then soon hit Hodge with a superkick. Corino started trying to climb the ladder but Hodge knocked the ladder over as Corino was almost to the top and Corino fell and got clotheslined by the top rope. Hodge then grabbed Corino and whipped him into the ladder and then twice smashed Corino's head into the ladder. Hodge then gave Corino an OKLAHOMA SIDE ROLL and attempted to climb the ladder but Corino got up and grabbed Hodge and forced him back down. A few minutes later both Hodge and Corino tried climbing up opposite sides of the ladder at the same time and proceeded to punch each other which caused the ladder to tip over and both of them to fall off. Corino was able to recover first and hit Hodge with OLD SCHOOL EXPULSION. Corino then reset the ladder and climbed to the top to grab the metal rod and win the match.
Corino is now up 2-0 in the best of 7 series and it his turn to pick what type of match that Match #3 of the series will be next week. Corino's answer: Dog Collar!
Winner: Steve Corino. Corino leads the series 2-0.
Hot Seat: Harley Race, identified last week as the mysterious Fourth Horsemen, is this week's guest.
Bill Apter: "Harley Race, why did you decide to join the Four Horsemen?"
Race: "Isn't it obvious? With MLW Champion and United States Champion Buddy Rogers, the United States Tag Team Champions the Valentines, and now myself who has never been pinned or forced to submit since being drafted into the NWA brand, the Horsemen are the premier organization in Major League Wrestling (MLW)."
Apter: "Well, we'll see if that streak of your holds up at Summer Slam when you wrestle Giant Baba who you struck from behind with a steel chair in the main event last week."
Race (giving the Horsemen's' four-fingered hand sign): "Oh it will Bill. It will."
Apter: "Harley Race, don't you think your joining the Four Horsemen might just be a strategic trick on the part of MLW Champion and United States Champion Buddy Rogers? Not only does Rogers get you serving as the backup for you and his two titles, he also eliminates a potential competitor for his championships by having you join the Horsemen."
Race (standing up and clenching his fists): "What are you trying to say to me Bill Apter?"
Suddenly Giant Baba runs onto the Hot Seat swinging a steel chair- the same weapon that Race used to attack him last week. Race immediately retreats from the Hot Seat.
Apter: "Giant Baba, thank you for that. I also have some good news for you. MLW Chairman Sammartino earlier tonight asked me to announce that next week's main event on NWA:NITRO will be MLW Champion and United States Champion Buddy Rogers teaming up with the newest member of the Four Horsemen-Harley Race and they will wrestle Rogers' two opponents at Summer Slam: Frank Gotch and Diamond Dallas Page. And you, Giant Baba, get to be the guest referee!"
Match #5: Road Warrior Animal (accompanied by Road Warrior Hawk) vs Steve "Dr. Death" Williams (managed by Killer Kowalski and accompanied by Bruiser Brody).
This proved to be a violent match in which Animal and Williams repeatedly traded offense against each other. Twice in the match Williams converted his German Suplex into a Backdrop Driver and several times Animal managed to hit Williams with his spike piledriver. The match almost turned into a double dq at one point when the action spilled out to the floor and Hawk joined Animal in brawling with Williams, Brody, and Kowalski. The match ended when Williams pinned Animal via his OKLAHOMA STAMPEDE.
Winner: Steve "Dr. Death" Williams
With Williams' victory tonight and Brody's win over Hawk last week, Kowalski's new Dungeon of Doom has looked impressive so far. But what is going to happen at Summer Slam when the Road Warriors will wrestle Brody and Williams in a tag team match which would seem to favor Hawk and Animal?
Summer Slam ADD: Sunday August 27. 1. Jim Londos vs World Champion Nick Bockwinkel (steel cage) 2. Frank Gotch vs Diamond Dallas Page vs MLW Champion and United States Champion Buddy Rogers in a triple threat two falls match.. The first fall will be for Rogers' United States Championship and the second fall will be for Rogers' MLW Championship 3. Road Warriors vs Bruiser Brody and Steve "Dr. Death" Williams 4. Fabulous Kangaroos vs World Tag Team Champions the Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton, Stan Lane, and Dennis Condrey) in a best 2 out of 3 falls handicap match. 5. MLW Chairmen Bruno Sammartino vs Ivan Koloff 6. Cassandra and MLW Tag Team Champions the Heart Thrashers (Beefcake and Bagwell) vs Phantasy and the Barroom Heroes (Sandman and Justin Credible) in an inter-promotional mixed tag match. 7. Intercontinental Championship Tournament Finals: Antonino Rocca vs Larry Zbyszko 8. Giant Baba vs Harley Race 9. Mil Mascaras vs Bobo Brazil 10. Jimmy Snuka vs Don Muraco MLW spokesman Splatter says: "Major League Wrestling (MLW). Don't you DARE miss it!"
Match #6, the main event: Frank Gotch (accompanied by Diamond Dallas Page and Diamond Doll Maxine Babe) vs MLW Champion and United States Champion Buddy Rogers (accompanied by the rest of the Four Horsemen: Harley Race and the United States Tag Team Champions the Valentines) in a non-title match.
Gotch and Rogers put on a good main event match that saw both men have to survive multiple pin and submission attempts. At one point, it appeared Rogers had Gotch pinned by using the ropes- but Diamond Doll Maxine Babe (Rogers' former valet) pushed Rogers' feet off the ropes to break up the count. Later in the match, Rogers had Gotch trapped in his FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE. But DDP saved the match for Gotch by reaching into the ring and pulling Gotch backward so Gotch could grab the ropes and break up Rogers' finishing hold. Toward the end of the match, Gotch seemed to have Rogers in serious trouble as he applied multiple rolling kneebars and cross face and arm bars to the double champion. The match ended when Gotch threw Rogers out of the ring. Instead of reentering the ring, Rogers grabbed both of his belts and waved his hands as disgust as he headed to the back with the rest of the Four Horsemen following. The referee counted out Rogers and awarded the match to Gotch. But the TV announcers remark that at the two falls triple threat match at Summer Slam versus both Page and Gotch for his two championships, Rogers will not be able to take an easy countout defeat like this to save his titles.
Winner: Frank Gotch by countout
The crowd boos Rogers and the rest of the retreating Horsemen as the referee raises Gotch's arm in victory and the show comes to an end.
Fade to black.

The Roadies vs Williams and Brody? I have to think that the Warriors are going to go down in defeat. Brody and Williams is a good pairing. Can't wait to see the results of summerslam. Great job

I'm seriously behind Gotch winning both belts at SS...It'd be hilarious if he took them both beating DDP... Great stuff as always Stephen...

Thank you for the positive feedback Billy and Splattercat!
I think the Road Warriors vs Bruiser Brody and Steve "Dr. Death" Williams is one of the matches I am most looking forward to at my Summer Slam PPV next week.
I also agree that it would be ironic if Gotch at Summer Slam wins both the United States Championship and then the MLW Championship in the two falls triple threat mach by defeating DDP in both falls (or if DDP scores a major upset by winning both of the titles by defeating Gotch in the two falls). Buddy Rogers would probably be complaining non-stop that he was robbed of his two championships if that happens by claiming he was never personally pinned or made to submit- a possible storyline angle depending on how the dice roll.
Normally I don't like to do triple threat title matches because I don't really think it is that legitimate for the champion to lose his title because another challenger was pinned or tapped out. But since the dice ended up making Rogers a double champion I decided to take advantage of the situation with this type of main event at Summer Slam. It is sort of like when Angle defended both his Intercontinental Championship and his European Championship against Benoit and Jericho at Wrestlemania 2000, a different and unique type of match that does not happen too often.

Match #2: "Bullet" Bob Armstrong (accompanied by Brad Armstrong) defeated Johnny Valiant via a deathjump in the form of a perfect cross body-block.
It is now time for the NWA Slam of the Week: The footage from a match on this past week's edition of NWA:NITRO shows Ivan Koloff literally destroying his opponent Billy "Red" Lyons but losing the match by dq after getting caught using his chain to cause Lyons' head to gush blood. The announcers remark that it seems Koloff is more focused on sending a message to MLW Chairman Bruno Sammartino, Koloff's old enemy and upcoming opponent at Summer Slam, than on winning his match against Lyons. The footage ends with Sammartino coming out and announcing that he would have a warm up match vs Koloff's partner the Terrible Turk next week on the last edition of NWA:NITRO before he faces Koloff at Summer Slam!
Match #3: Richard Hutton easily defeated Bob Orton Sr via ABDOMINAL STRETCH. Hutton continues his success in his feud with Orton Sr.

Major League Wrestling (MLW) AWA:RAW Thursday 08/24/06 Lawlor Events Center in Reno, NV
With just 3 days remaining until Summer Slam, welcome to AWA:RAW!
Match #1: Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs Nikolai Volkoff (accompanied by the Iron Sheik and manager Nikita Breznikov) Duggan and Volkoff started off exchanging offense against each other and continued to do so throughout what was overall a pretty even match. But the end came when Duggan threw Volkoff into a turnbuckle. Both Duggan and Volkoff then charged each other with a clothesline and the result was a double clothesline as both wrestlers fell to the mat. But Volkoff recovered first and gave Duggan a running stomp followed by his BACKBREAKER DROP for the victory. Along with the Iron Sheik's defeat of Duggan on last week's episode of AWA:RAW, it looks like Breznikov's men are currently winning their feud against Duggan.
Winner: Nikolai Volkoff
Match #2: Mil Mascaras and Bobo Brazil vs Gorgeous George and Don Muraco
Before they wrestle each other at Summer Slam, Mascaras and Brazil decided reformed as the tag team, which won this year's Sammartino Invitational, for this match. Jimmy Snuka, Muraco's opponent at Summer Slam when he comes off the injured list after being ambushed by Muraco at the Great American Bash in July, helped provide color commentary for this match.
The match started with Brazil and George facing off in the ring. George dodged a knee lift from Brazil and responded by raking Brazil's face with Georgie pins followed by a knee drop. But Brazil then countered a headlock take down from George who instead received a big hammer punch. Brazil and Mascaras then used a series of tags to keep George on the defensive while his partner Muraco lost his focus on the match because he started arguing with Snuka over at the announcers' table. Brazil and Mascaras worked well together to demonstrate why they were able to win the Sammartino Invitational earlier in the year as they continued to wear down George and the end came when Mascaras defeated George via a slingshot plancha.
Brazil and Mascaras get their hands raised in victory together. But what will happen this Sunday at Summer Slam when these two close friends wrestle each other for the first time ever?
Winners: Mil Mascaras and Bobo Brazil
Larry Land: This week's guest is Antonino Rocca.
Larry Zbyszko: "Welcome to Larry Land starring me, the Living Legend, Larry Z. My guest tonight is Antonino Rocca who I am scheduled to wrestle and obviously defeat in the Final Round match of the Intercontinental Championship Tournament this Sunday at Summer Slam."
Rocca comes onto the set of Larry Land where Zbyszko's bodyguard, Cowboy Bob Orton Jr, instantly stands behind him.
Zbyszko (to Rocca): "I was hoping for some competition at Summer Slam before I become the first-ever Intercontinental Champion. But all I have for an opponent is you."
Rocca: "I will be coming into Summer Slam ready to go and probably be more competition than you expect Zbyszko."
Zbyszko: "Really, did you win the World Championship from Nick Bockwinkel at Backlash."
Rocca: "No, but....."
Zbyszko (interrupting Rocca): "Did you win your rematch against Bockwinkel in your steel cage match at Saturday Night's Main Event back in May?"
Rocca: "No, but that was because Ox Ba...."
Zbyszko (interrupting Rocca once again): "Who won the #1 contenders match between you and Jim Londos last month for the right to become the next challenger for Bockwinkel?"
Rocca: "Londos but..."
Zbyszko: "So it seems all you, Antonino Rocca, have done in Major League Wrestling is lose. You are probably the most overrated guy on the entire roster and you should consider yourself lucky to even get the right to face someone of my caliber at Summer Slam."
Rocca: "Zbyszko, when I win on Sunday to become the Intercontinental Champion, all you will have done with this interview is put your foot into your mouth."
Zbyszko: "Speaking of feet, wear some shoes next time you come on Larry Land. Your feet odor matches your recent won-loss record."
Suddenly, Rocca was grabbed from behind by Orton Jr and then smashed in the face by Zbyszko. Zbyszko and his bodyguard Orton Jr continued to pummel Rocca until he was lying on the floor bleeding.
Zbyszko: "Rocca, that's a preview of what's going to happen to you this weekend at Summer Slam when you are lying on the mat hurt as I hold up my newly-won Intercontinental Championship. But it is ok, this time you can cry for me Argentina."
Zbyszko and Orton Jr then leave Rocca lying on the floor as doctors and EMTs arrive to attend to Rocca.
Match #3: MLW Tag Team Champions Heart Thrashers (Brutus Beefcake and Buff Bagwell, managed by Cassandra) vs the Vachons in a best 2 out of 3 falls title match.
The teams looked evenly matched in a great first fall with lots of back and forth action that saw members of both tag teams have to kick out of multiple pin attempts. But Bagwell used his BUFF BLOCKBUSTER to pin Butcher Vachon.
Winners of First Fall: Heart Thrashers. Heart Thrashers are up 1-0.
The Vachons controlled almost the entire action of the second fall and won it when Mad Dog Vachon pinned Bagwell via a PILEDRIVER.
Winners of Second Fall: Vachons. Heart Thrashers and Vachons are tied 1-1.
In the deciding third fall, the Vachons continued to pummel the Heart Thrashers but could not manage to put either Beefcake or Bagwell away. The Heart Thrashers during this fall also managed several impressive offensive series and forced the Vachons to use 2 pin saves to prolong the match. The end came when Mad Dog Vachon threw Bagwell out of the ring and proceeded to charge after him. The referee jumped between Bagwell and Mad Dog Vachon and warned Mad Dog to back off. Mad Dog started to forcibly push his way past the referee when suddenly the Barroom Heroes from the NWA brand jumped out of the crowd and attacked Bagwell who received a HARDCORE DDT from the Sandman and was hit by a SINGAPORE CANE from Justin Credible before they retreated to the back with their manager Phantasy. The referee called for the bell to disqualify the Vachons for the attack on Bagwell by the Barroom Heroes who are set to wrestle the Heart Thrashers and Cassandra in an inter-promotional mixed tag match st Summer Slam on Sunday.
Winners of Third Fall: Heart Thrashers by DQ. Heart Thrashers win the match 2-1 and retain the MLW Tag Team Championship.
Summer Slam ADD: Sunday August 27. 1. Jim Londos vs World Champion Nick Bockwinkel (steel cage) 2. Frank Gotch vs Diamond Dallas Page vs MLW Champion and United States Champion Buddy Rogers in a triple threat two falls match.. The first fall will be for Rogers' United States Championship and the second fall will be for Rogers' MLW Championship 3. Road Warriors vs Bruiser Brody and Steve "Dr. Death" Williams 4. Fabulous Kangaroos vs World Tag Team Champions the Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton, Stan Lane, and Dennis Condrey) in a best 2 out of 3 falls handicap match. 5. MLW Chairmen Bruno Sammartino vs Ivan Koloff 6. Cassandra and MLW Tag Team Champions the Heart Thrashers (Beefcake and Bagwell) vs Phantasy and the Barroom Heroes (Sandman and Justin Credible) in an inter-promotional mixed tag match. 7. Intercontinental Championship Tournament Finals: Antonino Rocca vs Larry Zbyszko 8. Giant Baba vs Harley Race 9. Mil Mascaras vs Bobo Brazil 10. Jimmy Snuka vs Don Muraco MLW spokesman Splatter says: "Major League Wrestling (MLW). Don't you DARE miss it!"
Match #4, the Main Event: Jim Londos, Larry Hennig, Curt Hennig, and the Crusher vs the Heenan Family: World Champion Nick Bockwinkel, Ray Stevens, King Kong Bundy, and Ox Baker (managed by Bobby Heenan) in an 8 man tag team elimination match.
This main event elimination match featured Jim Londos and Nick Bockwinkel on opposing sides right before they wrestle in a steel cage match at Summer Slam for Bockwinkel's World Championship!
Bundy eliminated Curt Hennig Londos eliminated Baker via AIRPLANE SPIN Larry Hennig eliminated Bundy via THE AXE Larry Hennig eliminated by DQ Ray Stevens DQd Nick Bockwinkel DQd
Notes: For most of the match, Bockwinkel stayed on the apron instead of tagging in to wrestle Londos' team. When everyone else was eliminated except Londos and the Crusher vs Bockwinkel, Bockwinkel started losing badly and decided to avoid what appeared to be an imminent defeat by smashing a steel chair into the face of the Crusher to get DQd and then used the chair against Londos. But the announcers remark that Bockwinkel will not be able to use this avenue of escape to save his title against Londos in their steel cage match at Summer Slam on Sunday.
Winners: Jim Londos, Larry Hennig, Curt Hennig, and the Crusher. The survivors were Londos and the Crusher.
Bockwinkel and Heenan retreat to the back amid a chorus of boos by fans angry at Bockwinkel for deciding to take the easy way out tonight as the show ends and the screen fades to black.

Major League Wrestling (MLW) NWA:NITRO Friday 08/25/06 Thomas and Mack in Las Vegas, NV
With only 2 days to go until Summer Slam this Sunday, welcome to the main weekly show of the NWA brand of Major League Wrestling!
Match #1: Fabulous Kangaroos (managed by Captain Kangaroo) vs World Tag Team Champions Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey and Bobby Eaton, accompanied by Stan Lane and managed by Jim Cornette).
This was a non-title match as the Fabulous Kangaroos get set to meet all 3 members of the Midnight Express in a 2 on 3 best 2 out of 3 falls handicap match for the World Tag Team Championship at Summer Slam. The Fabulous Kangaroos started the match on the offensive as Roy Heffernan gave Condrey a Tiger Suplex and they controlled most of this opening tag team match. It appeared on a couple of occasions that the Kangaroos had Condrey pinned via their BOOMERANG but Eaton ran in to make the pin save. The end came when Cornette slid his tennis racket into the ring toward Condrey. But Al Costello intercepted Cornette's tennis racket and managed to get away with whacking Cornette on the head with it and this led to a 3 count victory. Although the Midnight Express will send all 3 of their members against Heffernan and Costello in two days in a handicap match, they will have to wrestle better than they did tonight or the Fabulous Kangaroos will become the new World Tag Team Champions at Summer Slam!
Winners: Fabulous Kangaroos
Match #2: Hardcore Hodge vs Steve Corino in a dog collar match (match #3 in their best of 7 series to determine who is the better hardcore/old school wrestler).
Hodge started off in control with a series of moves that included a forearm to chest, a couple of Hodge Headlocks, an armbar, a standing dropkick, a Boston Crab, and finally an OKLAHOMA SIDEROLL- but Corino kicked out. A couple of moves later, Hodge tried to whip Corino into the ring post but Corino reversed the move to instead send Hodge into the ring post followed by OLD SCHOOL EXPULSION- but Hodge was able to get a shoulder up before the referee could finish his 3 count. Corino then viciously smashed the dog collar into the side of Hodge's head and then threw Hodge over the top rope where he proceeded to hang him with the dog collar before pulling him back into the ring to give him another OLD SCHOOL EXPULSION- but Hodge managed to kick out yet once again. A couple of minutes later, Corino threw Hodge into the ropes and tried to punch Hodge as he rebounded off the ropes. But Hodge twice managed to duck Corino's punches and kept rebounding off the ropes on opposite sides of the ring until Corino delivered a clothesline to him. As Hodge stumbled to his feet, Corino hit him with a superkick which allowed him to pin Hodge. Corino is now up 3-0 in their best of 7 series. But it is Hodge's turn to decide what their match (Match #4) will be for next week. Hodge's answer: a Singapore cane match which is the match in which he scored an impressive victory over the Sandman at the Great American Bash to proclaim himself "Hardcore Hodge."
Winner: Steve Corino. Corino leads 3-0.
Match #3: Armstrongs vs Barroom Heroes (Sandman and Justin Credible, managed by Phantasy).
This turned out to be a really short match as the Barroom Heroes seemed more intent on sending a message to their opponents at Summer Slam, the Heart Thrashers, then on actually competing for a victory over the Armstrongs tonight. The Barroom Heroes wee DQd 5 minutes into the match when the referee saw Sandman hit "Bullet" Bob Armstrong with his SINGAPORE CANE. Sandman continued hitting "the Bullet" with his SINGAPORE CANE a few more times after the match ended. As Brad Armstrong attended to his father, Phantasy got on the microphone and said she hoped the Heart Thrashers and their manager Cassandra were watching because "Bullet" Bob Armstrong there on the mat could easily be either Brutus Beefcake or Buff Bagwell at Summer Slam on Sunday.
Winners: Armstrongs by DQ
Hot Seat: This week's guest are the Road Warriors
Bill Apter: "Hawk and Animal, you have a tag team match this Sunday at Summer Slam against Bruiser Brody and Steve "Dr. Death" Williams who are the two new members of the Dungeon of Doom led by your former manager Killer Kowalski. After Williams defeated Animal in singles action last week and Brody's singles victory over Hawk two weeks ago, are you two worried going into your match with the Dungeon of Doom at Summer Slam in 2 days?"
Animal: "Brody and Williams are great singles wrestlers but at Summer Slam it is going to be a tag team match and there is no tag team in all of Major League Wrestling as good as the Road Warriors."
Hawk: " That's right Animal! At Summer Slam, the Road Warriors are going to snack on Bruiser Brody and dine on Dr. Death. For aligning themselves with Kowalski, they're going to pay the Road Warrior way!"
Suddenly Brody and Williams and their manager Kowalski come onto the Hot Seat and start brawling with the Road Warriors. The 5 men destroy the Hot Seat and brawl all the way to the back where it takes the combined effort of NWA wrestlers Richard Hutton, Virgil, Dan Severn, Rick Rude, "Precious" Paul Ellering, Bob Orton Sr., Johnny Valiant, Ted DiBiase, Billy "Red" Lyons, and the Boogie Woogie Man to separate them. What's going to happen in 2 days at Summer Slam when the Road Warriors wrestle Brody and Williams in a tag team match at Summer Slam?
Match #4: MLW Chairman Bruno Sammartino vs the Terrible Turk (accompanied by Ivan Koloff)
note: I am using the Sammartino card from LOW Bootlegs.
Just 2 days before Sammartino is scheduled to come out of retirement for one match to wrestle his old enemy Ivan Koloff at Summer Slam, he decided to schedule a tune up match first against Koloff's partner the Terrible Turk.
In his first match since retiring as an active wrestler from the Northeast Territory to start up Major League Wrestling (MLW), Sammartino looked great and the announcers remarked that it seemed Sammartino had not lost a step at all since back when he was a celebrated champion on the East Coast. The Terrible Turk started the match by trying to shove Sammartino to the mat but this attempt seemed to have no effect on Sammartino who proceeded to take over and control the match from that point on. Sammartino's offense included dropkicks, grinding headlocks, power forearms, repeated stomps, a Boston Crab, and head first body slams. Sammartino appeared to have the match won via his BACKBREAKER but had to drop the Turk as Ivan Koloff attempted to rush into the ring to make the save. Sammartino however fought off the attack of Koloff, his opponent at Summer Slam in 2 days, and threw him out of the ring. Sammartino then immediately applied his BEARHUG to the Terrible Turk who quickly submitted.
Winner: Bruno Sammartino
Summer Slam ADD: Sunday August 27. 1. Jim Londos vs World Champion Nick Bockwinkel (steel cage) 2. Frank Gotch vs Diamond Dallas Page vs MLW Champion and United States Champion Buddy Rogers in a triple threat two falls match.. The first fall will be for Rogers' United States Championship and the second fall will be for Rogers' MLW Championship 3. Road Warriors vs Bruiser Brody and Steve "Dr. Death" Williams 4. Fabulous Kangaroos vs World Tag Team Champions the Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton, Stan Lane, and Dennis Condrey) in a best 2 out of 3 falls handicap match. 5. MLW Chairmen Bruno Sammartino vs Ivan Koloff 6. Cassandra and MLW Tag Team Champions the Heart Thrashers (Beefcake and Bagwell) vs Phantasy and the Barroom Heroes (Sandman and Justin Credible) in an inter-promotional mixed tag match. 7. Intercontinental Championship Tournament Finals: Antonino Rocca vs Larry Zbyszko 8. Giant Baba vs Harley Race 9. Mil Mascaras vs Bobo Brazil 10. Jimmy Snuka vs Don Muraco MLW spokesman Splatter says: "Major League Wrestling (MLW). Don't you DARE miss it!"
Match #5, the main event: Frank Gotch and Diamond Dallas Page (accompanied by Diamond Doll Maxine Babe) vs MLW Champion and United States Champion Buddy Rogers and Harley Race (accompanied by United States Tag Team Champions the Valentines) with Giant Baba as the guest referee.
This week's main event featured Gotch and Page teaming together against their fellow opponent Rogers in the triple threat 2 falls 2 title main event at Summer Slam. Rogers has his fellow Horsemen Race as his tag team partner in this match officiated by Giant Baba who is Race's opponent at Summer Slam.
Rogers and Race started off in control against Page who twice nearly submitted to Rogers' FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE. But Page was finally able to counter forearm smashes from Rogers and make a tag to Gotch. Gotch came into the ring and hit Rogers with a double leg takedown followed by an Iowa backdrop and 3 different attempts to win the match via his GOTCH TOEHOLD- but Rogers managed to grab the ropes on 2 of these GOTCH TOEHOLDS and was rescued by outside interference from the Valentines during the other GOTCH TOEHOLD. Rogers finally managed to tag in Race who proceeded to pummel Gotch and several times appeared to have the match won by pinfall (including twice by PILEDRIVER) but Gotch kept kicking out at what Race alleged to be slow 3 counts on the part of guest referee Giant Baba with whom he proceeded to argue. Race finally hit Gotch with another PILEDRIVER and this time Giant Baba, although seeming to make another slow 3 count, had to award the victory to Race and Rogers as Gotch could not kick out.
Winners: MLW Champion and United States Champion Buddy Rogers and Harley Race
Along with the Valentines, Rogers and Race proceed to celebrate their victory tonight. But the announcers ask if these two men will still be celebrating in 2 days from now at Summer Slam when Race wrestles Baba and Rogers has to defend both his MLW Championship and United States Championship against Gotch and Page as the show comes to an end and the screen fades to black.
See you in 2 days for Summer Slam!

Bockwinkel at first tried to compete against both Londos and Crusher. But after being pummeled by both men, Bockwinkel took the easy DQ defeat by smashing a steel chair against the heads of both the Crusher and Londos. Major League Wrestling (MLW) Summer Slam Sunday 08/27/06 Thomas and Mack in Las Vegas, NV (First Half of the PPV)
Summer Slam (presented by both the AWA and NWA brands of Major League Wrestling) was preceded by Major League Wrestling:Fight Night which recapped all of the major story lines leading up to the matches at Summer Slam and included the following dark matches:
AWA Dark Match: Hacksaw Jim Duggan defeated Gorgeous George by DQ.
NWA Dark Match: Dan Severn and Rick Rude battled to a double DQ.
Match #1: Mil Mascaras vs Bobo Brazil
A good competitive opening match between two friends who in May together won the Sammartino Invitational. At one point, Brazil almost won the match via a COCO BUTT that followed a falling elbow. But the victory ended up going to Mascaras who scored the pinfall via his FLYING BODYPRESS. Mascaras and Brazil shook hands after the match and announced they now had a name for the tag team they occasionally form together: Brothers of Other Mothers.
Winner: Mil Mascaras
Match #2: MLW Tag Team Champions the Heart Thrashers (Brutus Beefcake and Buff Bagwell) and their manager Cassandra vs the Barroom Heroes (Sandman and Justin Credible) and their manager Phantasy in an inter-promotional, mixed tag, and non-title match.
This turned out to be a decent match even though the Barroom Heroes controlled most if the action. The women only got in the ring one time and that was when Beefcake tagged in Cassandra which forced the Sandman to tag in Phantasy. Despite being serenaded with chants of "bar slut," Phantasy looked impressive and twice almost won the match for her team via SWEET SUICIDE before Cassandra was able to regain the offensive and tag in Bagwell. The end came when Phantasy handed Credible his SINGAPORE CANE which he got away with hitting Bagwell with for the 3 count.
Winners: Barroom Heroes and Phantasy
Match #3: Giant Baba vs Harley Race
Race was in control early on in the match until Baba blocked a head butt and then gave Race a Russian leg sweep, boot to face, and NECKBREAKER DROP. But Race's fellow Horsemen, Buddy Rogers, suddenly appeared to make the pin save for Race by providing interference. Rogers attempted to clothesline Baba. But Baba dodged out of the way and Rogers hit Race instead! A shocked Rogers was then thrown out of the ring by Baba who then gave Race another NECKBREAKER DROP. But the other two members of the Horsemen, the Valentines, arrived and Johnny Valentine tried to distract the referee while Greg Valentine attacked Baba. But the referee caught this and called for the bell to DQ Race. Rogers, Race, and the Valentines, proceeded to simultaneously kick and beat up Baba until MLW Chairman Bruno Sammartino showed up and warned the Horsemen that if any of them show up at ringside like this to interfere in Rogers' defense of both his United States Championship and his MLW Championship later tonight, then they will be fired on the spot! Rogers got enraged at Sammartino for this added stipulation for the defense of his 2 championships tonight.
Winner: Giant Baba by DQ
Match #4: Jimmy Snuka vs Don Muraco
This one got off to a quick start as Muraco tried to attack Snuka right as Snuka entered the ring while Gary Michael Cappetta was announcing the match's participants. But Muraco's attempt at a rolling neck snap was countered by Snuka who responded with a leap frog and chop that stunned Muraco and caused him to fall back onto the mat and almost allowed Snuka to score the pinfall. Snuka then gave Muraco 2 flying head butts which led to 2 more near pinfalls. Snuka then threw Muraco out of the ring and climbed to the top turnbuckle where he waited as the referee was busy giving Muraco a 10 count to get back into the ring. As Muraco, rolled back in the ring under the bottom rope, Snuka hit him with a perfectly-timed SUPERFLY LEAP for the quick victory. But after scoring the win, Snuka was not done and gave his enemy Muraco yet another SUPERFLY LEAP before heading back to the locker room.
Winner: Jimmy Snuka
Match #5: MLW Chairman Bruno Sammartino vs Ivan Koloff (accompanied by the Terrible Turk).
(note: I am using the LOW Bootleg card of Sammartino who is coming out of retirement just for this one match against his old nemesis Koloff)
Koloff started off in control by giving Sammartino an arm lock followed by an ax handle to the back. But Sammartino soon gained the offensive and looked really impressive to the extent that the announcers remark that perhaps he retired prematurely. A couple of times, Koloff regained the offensive but only for a couple of moves as Sammartino managed to counter each time. However, Koloff at the end managed to block a hip roll and responded with a backbreaker. Koloff then managed to get away with smashing his chain against the forehead of Sammartino and quickly passing it back to the Terrible Turk without the referee noticing and as a result picked up the pinfall victory.
Winner: Ivan Koloff

Major League Wrestling (MLW) Summer Slam Sunday 08/27/06 Thomas and Mack in Las Vegas, NV (Second Half of the PPV)
Match #6: Final Round of the Intercontinental Championship Tournament. Antonino Rocca vs Larry Zbyszko (accompanied by bodyguard Cowboy Bob Orton Jr).
This match began with Rocca dodging a dropkick attempt by Zbyszko and responding with a victory roll and then his ARGENTINIAN BACKBREAKER for the quick victory attempt- but Zbyszko refused to submit. Zbyszko was soon able to retake control of the match and four times nearly achieved victory via 1 Larryland Sleeper and 3 PILEDRIVERS- but Rocca kept refusing to be defeated. Frustrated, Zbyszko threw Rocca out of the ring toward his bodyguard Orton Jr. The referee immediately came over to warn Orton Jr from trying to attack Rocca and Zbyszko used the referee's distraction to his advantage by removing a turnbuckle pad! A few moves later, Zbyszko threw Rocca into the exposed turnbuckle twice and gave him a running shoulder tackle and then a double axe handle. As Rocca grimaced with pain from being hit with these moves while up against the exposed turnbuckle, Zbyszko hit him with a spinning back kick followed by a PILEDRIVER for the victory and the Intercontinental Championship.
Winner: Larry Zbyszko. Zbyszko is Major League Wrestling's first-ever Intercontinental Champion.
Match #7: Road Warriors vs Bruiser Brody and Steve "Dr. Death" Williams
After recent singles victories over Hawk and Animal by Brody and Williams respectively, Kowalski's men started off in control of this match. But the Road Warriors soon took over and demonstrated why being an established tag team has advantages as they used a series of quick tags to isolate and wear down Williams who ended up losing the match for his team when Hawk pinned him following a DOOMSDAY DEVICE.
But right after the match ended, Kowalski entered the ring and he, Brody, and Williams proceeded to batter the Road Warriors who they left in the ring bruised and bleeding. It appears that the feud between the Road Warriors and Kowalski's Dungeon of Doom is far from being resolved.
Winners: Road Warriors
Backstage: Buddy Rogers is complaining to his fellow Horsemen Race and the Valentines about Sammartino banning them from ringside in his triple threat two falls defense of his MLW Championship and his United States Championship and says it seems like Sammartino is determined to make him lose his titles. Race tells Rogers that if he does indeed lose either of this two championships tonight, then he considers those belts fair game and he will go after them.
Match #8: Fabulous Kangaroos (managed by Captain Kangaroo) vs World Tag Team Champions Dennis Condrey, Bobby Eaton, and Stan Lane of the Midnight Express (managed by Jim Cornette) in a 2 on 3 handicap best 2 out of 3 falls title match.
Fall#1:
Despite being outnumbered 3-2, the Kangaroos looked great in this fall during which they controlled almost the entire action. The end of this fall came when Al Costello pinned Dennis Condrey via BOOMERANG. The Midnight Express are in trouble and in serious danger of losing their World Tag Team Championship as the Kangaroos are looking great!
Winners of Fall #1: Fabulous Kangaroos. Fabulous Kangaroos are up 1-0.
Fall #2:
This fall turned out to be a complete reversal of the first fall as the Midnight Express were able to control most of the action this time. Toward the end of the fall, Lane appeared to have Costello defeated via a Midnight Lariat but Captain Kangaroo (formerly Albano) jumped on the apron. Lane grabbed the ropes to flip Captain Kangaroo into the ring and whipped him into Costello. As Roy Heffernan brawled with Condrey, Lane and Eaton then performed their ROCKET LAUNCHER finisher to pin Costello and even things up at 1-1.
Winners of Fall #2: Midnight Express. Kangaroos and Midnight Express are now tied 1-1.
Fall #3:
This turned out to be a great fall as both teams showed their clear determination to win this deciding fall that would determine who would leave with the World Tag Team Championship. During the first half of this fall, the Kangaroos were mostly in control and twice appeared to have the match won as they had Condrey covered for a pin but Eaton and Lane made the pin saves. During the second half of this fall, the Midnight Express started to take over as both Dennis Condrey and Stan Lane worked with Bobby Eaton to perform their ROCKET LAUNCHER finisher- the second of which led to Eaton pinning Costello to win the fall and thus the match.
Winners of Fall #3: Midnight Express. Midnight Express win the match 2-1 to retain the World Tag Team Championship.
Match #9: Jim Londos vs World Champion Nick Bockwinkel (managed by Bobby Heenan) in a steel cage title match.
Before the match started, the Crusher and the Double Axe Attack came up to Londos in the locker room and told him they would escort him to the ring tonight because they heard the Heenan Family was planning to ambush him before he even gets into the cage with Bockwinkel. On their way to the ring, the Crusher and the Hennigs indeed have to defend Londos as Ray Stevens, King Kong Bundy, and Ox Baker all try to jump him at some point. Thanks to his friends, Londos is able to arrive in the steel cage unscathed.
Despite the attempts by his manager Heenan to rely on an ambush of Londos, Bockwinkel really dominated this match. Londos started off trying to deliver a hip roll. But Bockwinkel countered with a back suplex and continued to maintain control for most of the remainder of the match. Londos valiantly at first refused to submit to Bockwinkel's FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK and BOCKWINKEL SLEEPER and also kicked out of another pin attempt. But Bockwinkel eventually made Londos tap out to his FIGURE FOUR LEGLOCK.
Winner: Nick Bockwinkel. Bockwinkel retains the World Championship.
Match #10: Frank Gotch vs Diamond Dallas Page vs MLW Champion and United States Champion Buddy Rogers in a two falls triple threat title match. The first fall is for Rogers' United States Championship and the second fall is for Rogers' MLW Championship.
First Fall: During this fall, Gotch almost pinned Page via an Iowa backdrop while Rogers was momentarily out of the action after being knocked into a ring post. Rogers, however, later managed to make DDP tap out to his FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE to retain his United States Championship before Gotch could make the save to continue the match.
Winner of Fall #1: Buddy Rogers. Rogers retains his United States Championship.
Fall #2: Early in this fall, Gotch had DDP trapped in his GOTCH TOEHOLD and appeared set to win the MLW Championship. But Rogers managed to make the save to continue the match. Gotch controlled large portions of this fall and overall looked like the better competitor but Rogers ultimately prevailed as he once again got DDP to tap out to his FIGURE FOUR GRAPEVINE to retain his MLW Championship.
Winner of Fall #2: Buddy Rogers. Rogers retains his MLW Championship.
After strapping both of his retained titles around his waist, Rogers then got on the microphone and said: "Despite Sammartino's denying my fellow Horsemen from accompanying to ringside tonight, I still managed tonight to retain both the MLW Championship and the United States Championship. Bruno Sammartino, you can go to H**l because the Nature Boy is just not going to be stopped. Not tonight, not next week, and not ever. WHoooooooo!"
Sammartino then appears and announces that this Friday on NWA:NITRO Rogers will once again defend his MLW Championship and this time it will be against the one man he did not pin or make submit in either of the two falls tonight- Frank Gotch. Furthermore, to continue assuring that there will be no outside interference by the Horsemen, Rogers on Friday will defend his MLW Championship against Gotch in a steel cage!
Rogers looks irate at hearing this news as Summer Slam ends and the screen fades to black.
