I know it isn't him, but I did send Todd a contact who knew Tommy Rich. I seriously doubt it is him, but he did wrestle in the AWA, wasn't on the wikipedia list and would be a headliner. Some may remember him as a washed up guy, but for a time in the early 80s he was the main man in wrestling. Yeah, for like eight days.

Well, his title reign was for 5 days, but there was no doubt from 80-82 he was the most popular wrestler on the planet.

Well, his title reign was for 5 days OK, I gave him too much credit. He'd not be a bad addition but when someone is withheld it needs to be a huge name. I don't think Tommy would be a huge enough name Was Verne Gagne on the AWA list. I didn't go back and look at the Wiki list but Verne would be a pretty huge name. He probably signed his rights away to the E though. Without researching things again, are either Poffo brother a possibility. Lanny would be alright but not a big enough one. His brother obviously would be.

With Rich, at least you got a former NWA Champ (even if he did get it by "questionable means") and a huge, huge star at once. Actually, I've talked to Lanny on a few occasions and he said he would absolutely love to be in the game (he loved the Curt Hennig pic). I don't know about Randy, but I'm sure Angelo would be a possibility. I've sent Lanny's contact info to Todd a few months back

Tommy Rich would be cool, but despite being a former NWA champion - even for five days - I don't see him as a headliner to a set. Aside from those five days, he was a regional star. Not a major player in any larger company. I'd still be happy to see him in the game now or at some point.

What if it's George "The Animal" Steel? The Animal would be an awesome edition to Legends. I would love to see him in the game

Since we know the 12th wrestler wrestled in the AWA and apparently isn't on Bladeflyer's list, I was wondering about Gene Kiniski who I just read about tonight.
Gene Kiniski was a former AWA Champion and also defeated Lou Thesz for the NWA Championship which he held for 3 years before losing it to Dory Funk Jr.
I got that information from reading about Gene Kiniski tonight in my copy of "The Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame: The Heels" in which Kiniski is ranked the #14 heel of all time- just 1 behind Nick Bockwinkel who is #13 on that list.

There is at least some chance it's him. Tim did give Tom his contact info some time ago but last I heard there hadn't been any talks with Kiniski yet. Maybe they finally did.

Well, I tried.
I'm kind of glad it's not going to be Vader. I plan to push Kowalski as a monster heel, and that'd be hard if Vader was in the fed as well.
Well, hopefully only a couple more weeks until the myster is revealed....
Take care,
Jay

Does anyone else here think Gene Kinisiki might be the 12th wrestler?
He certainly fits the clues we've been given and as a former AWA and NWA Champion (3 year reign) in addition to being among the top 20 heels of all time would definitely make the 12th guy qualify as a big name if in fact it turns out to be him.

All signs seem to point to Mosca (and i would be happy with that)
I would love it to be my favorite Bob Backlund (who started in the AWA and even wrestled once as the Unknown Soldier) but he has an official bootleg......but I can dream
Also what about one of the greatest technical wrestlers of all time Dr Bill Miller....
him or of course Kiniski would be awesome old school additions
lastly Fritz Von Erich (he is not on the list, and was originally build as a German) if you are going to start with a family start at the top
just a thought....

I think my memory is correct on this - Tom contacted Gene Kiniski a couple of years ago and he politely declined due to a conflict with some other marketing arrangements.

Going back to something written earlier, I have to admit that I'm one of the people MFT mentioned would "see it as a letdown" if Mosca ends up being the 12th guy. I guess I'm approaching this set the way I originally felt about Legends Vintage, in that I wasn't really inspired by the names going in. Over time, my view changed somewhat about Vintage as some of the wrestlers were incorporated into my federation. (After all, who doesn't like the AIRPLANE SPIN as a finisher? Uh, put your hand down, Jay.)
All that being said, I have ordered the newest set, and I think Tom and the gang do a great job. Just expressin' what I'm feeling.
And speaking of expressin', I'm thinking it would be great if we had a master list tacked to the beginning of this forum section that listed all the available wrestlers (Pikemojo compiled a list of 301 in a thread on the other board) and what information we, the masses know/have heard about them (as in "contacted but said no"; "sent contact info to Tom and gang"; etc.). That way, we'd at least know the status of some of the wresters we are all interested in, or at least have a reference point.
Paging Mr. Ingersoll on that idea?
