This topic was in another thread, and while I am a set or 2 behind in CPC, I still think it should stay. Should it go, just think of all of the ''free agents" there'd be. It'd almost be like when WCW was bought by Vince, and then there were tons of new talent to pick from. If CPC closed, I think we could see some cool new faces in GWF or some that haven't been there in some time. I think with a guy like Mike Fortune (I don't have his newest card) with a really nice card could come to the GWF and become the Stone Cold lone rebel type and whoop some ass. Not the beer guzzling, middle finger slinger, just the bad ass...if he brought beer, maybe Moulsen? ;D

If it goes, I would be a bit upset, but I know Tom has big plans that would replace them.

If Mike Fortune ever did go back to the GWF you would have to make a tag team to go with him...
one guy to drive him and the other guy to pay for all his sh!t...

Heres my question, I've seen threads like this a few times on the board now...
Why does a fed have to close anyway? I mean, it seems a bit unfair if their selling good. People have bought these sets, invested into these characters, and aCe or CPC might close?
Has there ever been a good reasoning as for why this might happen?

Maybe I understand it because Tom is a friend of mine so I know how he thinks...but it simply boils down to "onto new things"... Tom has all kinds of crazy ideas in his head...believe me. I just think he wants to explore new avenues in the COTG world...no one ever said CPC or aCe were going to be gone forever... and if you look at this board, look at the amount of GWF posts/threads and LWF posts/threads vs. CPC posts... there's your proof right there. of course, this is all just my opinion. For all I know Tom will change his mind.

What Swarm said.
Tom is really great about listening to the fans. So if there's enough support for the CPC in the form of games purchased, and if Mark wants to do it, I'm sure that Tom will listen. It is still a business after all and if Tom feels that there's the opportunity to introduce a game that will do more for Filsinger Games, then he should do that.

for me it comes down to time. a fed can suffer if you havent got time to play it.. Right now I play 3 feds and its tough. I toyed with the idea of having 1 super fed....but I just cant do it. I just make up storylines to keep all feds interesting. eg....Bloodline, Encubus, Valour , Gatekeeper and Stars & Stripes have jumped to the CPC.

I have a couple things on this topic.... I think CPC suffers a bit from the fact that you can't just start a CPC fed... you have to have been though all the GWF years from 2087-2110 or so, and there's alot of us that have never really done that (some like myself due to chronic restarting, other just new to the madness that is GWF) while with aCe the starter pack has really invigorated the set... take a look at the thread totals...aCe is now almost even with CPC, despite its much shorter history.
That being said, and being on record as a big aCe supporter, if there are new ideas to be explored, I wouldn't mind seeing them, with maybe CPC or aCe going on hiatus for a year or two if that's what fed HQ wants, but really I think there's room for lots of different things... sure, we can only play so much, but different ideas and angles (like aCe's goth feel, or CPC's UFC-ish stuff) appeal to different folks and could bring more former or new fans into the fold, which we all want so we get more stuff! When Tom was writing everything, clearly decisions had to be made, but with more creative heads being added there can be more material.
There's no law that say we ALL have to have a fed for EVERYTHING Tom does, after all.

I would LOVE some sort of indy scene set...where the cards are not assigned to one fed but instead we get sort of a territory feel where each chaaracter is said to have worked a variety of different feds, maybe even under different names. That way, we the promoters basically get to decide how to incorporate them into our feds w/o any storyline. I dunno..maybe I've just been playing a little too much TEW altely.

I really enjoy what Mark has done with the CPC but like Soug, I just haven't had time to play much with it, and with the inability of a lot of fans just to step inside, CPC really suffers. I'm also REALLY curious what Tom might have up his sleeve that we haven't seen yet and can't as long as we have four feds running around.

I totally agree that the CPC suffers from its lack of a jump-on point. And it has been discussed with Fed HQ. We'll have to see if anything ever turns up from it.

I like the CPC and the flavor it brings. Outside of the artwork not being to my liking (too much ink shading for my taste), I like the storylines and characters Mark brings to the table. Plus, like every promoter knows, you can always experiment with taking CPC guys and putting them with the GWF guys or the LWF guys or the aCe guys or some indy cards.
As far as disbanding the CPC, I would hate to see it leave, but if it did, a second CPC invasion into the GWF would be pretty cool! My favorite storyline was the GWF vs. CPC from 2105 to 2108. So Heaven forbid the CPC folds, there at least would be a potential return to a storyline I greatly enjoyed...
Would that bring Thantos back? Hmmm.

The CPC has a more gritty, down to earth feel than the GWFor ACE.
Right now most of the characters that are in the CPC are meeting my needs, and fighting the type of matches I like.
The CPC should defintely stay.
