Note: These messages include references to numerous stables in Ring of Honor, both past and present. Present stables No Remore Corps, Resilience, and Sweet and Sour International are all alluded to. Also, The Prophecy, a stable from ROH's first 2 years, is also mentioned. These hints suggest Project 161 concerns a new stable of wrestlers in ROH.
I was especially intrigued by the message "DEFINE US," which stated: "THE INSURGENCY WILL FALL." What insurgency would that be?
I was also struck the large number of references to "The Prophecy." Phrases such as "TAKING OVER IS KEY," "NO HONOR," "THE PROPHECY HAS BEEN REVISITED AND REVISED," "CRUCIFY," and "DESTROY HONOR AND TAKE OVER" are all reminiscent of Christopher Daniel's now-defunct faction in ROH.

This Project 161 stuff has really gotten out of hand. I don't know who it is but they are calling me at home now, bringing my family into it. The whole website thing is just pulling my family into this thing and playing right into their hands. I'm trying to figure out who is behind this but please don't let them bring my personal life into it and please take the pics of them off your site.

Speculation: New Wrestler? (Update 14)
Some have insisted that Project 161 will usher in a new wrestler into Ring of Honor. Some names that have been thrown around include Tyler Black (pictured with Jimmy Jacobs), Marek Brave, Josh Abercrombie, Arik Cannon, and others. This new wrestler could debut alone, alongside an established wrestler, or as part of a new stable.
Please post your ideas for a debuting wrestler in the COMMENTS section. I will update this post with suggested wrestlers.

Speculation: The Number 161 (Update 13)
The phrase "Project 161" has appeared on both the abusedsociety.com and nhsociety.com websites. This has led to a great deal of speculation on the significance of the number 161.
Most theories revolve around the 161st Ring of Honor show. This show is scheduled for September 15 in Chicago. Project 161 may be revealed at this event. Interestingly, this event is also the 3rd ROH pay-per-view taping.
It has also been suggested that "161" refers to an event in England. 161 is the area code for Manchester, England. ROH has run events in the UK before, and Project 161 could signify a revelation at an ROH show in Manchester.
This one is pretty dubious, but the letters "A" and "F" are the 1st and 6th letter of the alphabet, respectively. Maybe Project 161 refers to Project AFA, as in Afa Anoai of the Wild Samoans. Are the Wild Samoans coming to Ring of Honor? I doubt it.

Speculation: Shane Hagadorn (Update 12)
Many speculate Shane Hagadorn could be a part of Project 161. As Adam Pearce's assistant, he would be expected to be part of any group/gimmick involving Pearce. Hagadorn was one of the first ROH students and has made a name for himself thanks to his cocky smirk and ability to easily generate hatred among the fans. He seems to be poised to make a big impact in ROH. If Hagadorn is part of a new, hot angle, it could instantly make him a bonified star in ROH.
The Pearce/Whitmer promo at Respect is Earned featured Hagadorn as Pearce's assistant (Update 4). It is suspected that Hagadorn will also be part a precited angle at the 2nd PPV (Driven) involving Pearce and Rave. One aspect of Project 161 may be to feature this promising young talent in a pivitol, innovative angle.

Project 161 linked to Gabe/ROH? (Update 11)
Update 9 discussed the Dixons who registered the Project 161 websites. These people are friends of ROH booker Gabe Sapolsky. They registered the site as a diversion away from ROH.
The first myspace friend listed on Sarah's myspace site is the site for Gabe's wife:
www.myspace.com/39378176 . This site includes many pictures of the ROH booker including the one shown. Possibly Gabe and/or his wife recruited a friend to register the Project161 sites. This is strong evidence that Project 161 is an ROH angle.

Speculation: Jimmy Rave (Update 8)
Many people have suggested Project 181 involves the return of Jimmy Rave to Ring of Honor.
Jimmy Rave was recently injured with a reported ruptured eardrum. It is unknown how long he will be out of ROH.
At the 2nd PPV taping (ROH: Driven on June 23 in Chicago), Rave was soundly defeated by ROH Champion Takeshi Morishima. This quick squash was very similar to the beating BJ Whitmer took at the first PPV.
It has been speculated that Pearce may cut another promo at the 2nd PPV. This time, he will talk about Rave's fall from grace. Maybe Project 161 is to promote a new stable with Pearce, Whitmer, and Rave. Or maybe Project 161 only concerns Rave's return to ROH from injury.

These posts were not deleted by forum moderators for a couple hours. Interestingly, registration on the ROH Messageboard had been closed for months. Suddenly, registration was opened last night, just before TheWorldsParasite registered and started "spamming" the board. By the next morning, registration was closed again. This strongly suggests Project161 is being run by ROH itself.

What City is This? (Update 6)
The skyline on
www.nhsociety.com may be London, England. The buidling in the center resembles the Clock Tower (Big Ben) in London. Project 161 may have an English connection, as well... However, Parliament is not visible and the skyline does not appear to be identical to London. If anyone has any alternate ideas for the city in the picture, please post it in the COMMENTS section.
UPDATE: This may be an old picture of Chicago. The central building could be the Wrigley building. This would be yet another Chicago connection to Project 161. Please post any ideas you have.

Chicago (Update 5)
When the background image on
www.abusedsociety.com is turned upside down, it resembles the Sears Tower and surrounding buildings. Furthermore,
www.nhsociety.com prominently features the words "second" and "city." This could refer to Chicago, the "Second City."
Whatever Project 161 is, it seems to be focused on Chicago. The 161st ROH show (and next PPV taping) takes place in Chicago. Many clues suggest this event is a focus of Project 161.

Speculation: Adam Pearce & BJ Whitmer (Update 4)
A segment on the first ROH pay-per-view (Respect is Earned) featured a intriguing promo from Adam Pearce. The PPV had begun with ROH main-staay BJ Whitmer being quickly beaten by ROH Champion Takeshi Morishima.
The promo segment opened with Pearce, dressed all in black, talking to his assistant, Shane Hagadorn. Pearce said:
Hagadorn, the eyes are the gateway to a man's soul. Go find him.
Shane then runs off. After introducing himself to the audience, Pearce continues:
...there is a hell of a lot of soul-searching to be done in Ring of Honor.
He then tells the history of ROH's growth from a small regional promotion to PPV. This is followed by:
Every member of the Ring of Honor locker room now has to step up, you see. They have to make that step. They have to ask themselves, "What am I willing to do to take my piece?".
Shane then enters the frame, saying he found "him." Shane and Pearce walk off as the camera follows. Down a long hallway we see BJ Whitmer sitting with his head in his hands. Pearce says:
The man down the hall's name is BJ Whitmer. This is a man whose soul is in so much pain that even he cannot reveal it to the world. BJ has made sacrifice after sacrifice after sacrifice for Ring of Honor...and for Ring of Honor's fans. He's had his flesh torn and his bones broken, and made a hell of a lot more than 1 trip to the hospital. A few months ago BJ lost in one of the most violent feuds in history to Jimmy Jacobs. And now he sits there, a man before you whose spirit is broken. Every day he will have to look in the mirror and ask himself, "How can I break free?".
As if that wasn't enough, we can add one more thing to the resume, because now BJ Whitmer is forever going to be known as the man who lost the very first match on RIng of Honor Pay-Per-View. Every night as he sleeps..as he dreams..and as he wakes up the next day...the question on his mind: What do I do to get relief? How do I make peace?...How do you make peace when the pressure is on? How do you make peace when the stakes continue to rise and eventually it's over your head? How do you do it? Every man's going to react in his own way. As I've said now every man is now forced to dig deep, to search within, to find that spot in their soul where clarity lives. They have to truly know...TRULY KNOW... what they're capable of. I know what I'm capable of. And soon every single one of you will know it, too.
Pearce then walks down the long hallway and places his hand on Whitmer's shoulder.
It is obvious Adam Pearce is starting a new gimmick in ROH. It looks like he may be forming an alliance with BJ Whitmer. Is this alliance related to Project 161? Is this the NHSociety? (NO HONOR Society??). That is a prevalent theory on Project 161.

Speculation: Jimmy Jacobs (Update 3)
Is Jimmy Jacobs part of Project 161?
Jimmy Jacob's character in ROH is in the middle of a transition. For over a year, Jacobs has been chasing after his love, Lacey. Details of this storyline can be read here. After finally beating his rival, BJ Whitmer, Lacey offered to finally give herself to Jacobs. Jacobs decided he wanted to win her heart, and not just her body. What ensued was a series of online vignettes where Jacobs tried to win over Lacey through a series of ill-fated dates. These dates can be watched on YouTube:

Day 3
Day 4
At the end of the 4th date, Lacey and Jimmy (apparently) have sex. The video ends with Lacey professing her love for Jimmy. Jimmy, though, looks upset and dissastisfied.
Jimmy has been out with an injury for months, but his return is expected soon. Could Project 161 relate to the return of Jacobs to ROH?

Conjecture (Update 2)
Here are some ideas being thrown around concerning Project 161:
1. This is an ARG/Viral marketing campaign for a new gimmick in Ring of Honor (ROH). It will usher in a new wrestler, stable, or new gimmick for an old wrestler.
2. This could involve Jimmy Jacobs. The blood pouring out of Lady Liberty's eye resembles Jacob's eye makeup.
3. The words "Second" and "City" on the 2nd website may refer to Chicago, the Second City
4. The name "Project 161" could refer to the 161st ROH show. The 161st show is September 15, 2007, in Chicago, IL. This show is the 3rd ROH pay-per-view taping.
5. This could revolve around a new storyline in ROH involving Adam Pearce, BJ Whitmer, and Shane Hagadorn. Pearce's promo on the first ROH pay-per-view (Respect is Earned) suggested a new, dark gimmick.
6. It may be the new gimmick for Jimmy Rave. Alternately, Rave may be part of a new stable.
7. A new stable named "No Honor Society" or "Abused Society" could be coming. (Guessed members include Pearce, Hagadorn, Whitmer, Rave). The stable would be made of people "abused" by the fans, and quickly beaten by ROH champ Morishima.

1. At the July 27/28 Ring of Honor shows, flyers were found by fans. These flyers said:

2. On bathroom mirrors at the ROH shows, the words "ABUSED SOCIETY" were written.

www.abusedsociety.com shows a picture of the Statue of Liberty bleeding out of her eye, the words "NOTHING SAVES" and the following poem:

Along the bottom of the site, it repeats "Project 161"
4. Clicking on the words "YOU WILL SOON DISCOVER" takes you to a second site (http://www.abusedsociety.com/other.html)
