Someone asked Mark about Hardcore matches for the CPC at Galacticon and he said that he is not good at creating hardcore matches

I love the CPC in general and one of the aspects I enjoy is that you keep up with the women's division on a regular basis. By any chance are there plans for another woman to join Jesterelli's stable, perhaps one more suited to his tastes?

#1 What do you like bettter Ketchup or Mustard #2 Why doesn't the CPC have made up matches like the GWF, I think the CPC needs some unique matches like a TLC match or maybe a special outlaw fight club match A FIGHT CLUB match ... maybe have rules where the fight takes place in a back alley of the arena, I know thats a bit crazy but you get my overall idea right? (just to clarify the question is the first part not the part about do you get the overall idea right part) #3 I dont know if this has been asked before but who are you favorite wrestlers and does that bias every play into an angle? #1 -- It's now against my religion of Blainetology to consume either, but in the old days, I'd have said "Ketchup please!" #2 -- There is Splatter's Arsenal Match on the back of his Special Edition card, but aside from that, Jim's pretty much right that I don't feel creating special matches is my forte. I agonized over the rules for those OFC matches to make sure I didn't forget any possible scenarios, and I'm sure I did, anyway. I'd prefer to print people's special match ideas in the Promoter (space permitting, there will be one next time). #3 -- I do like Jack of Diamonds, but mainly because of the way I decided to write him. When I took over the CPC writing job, he and Raven were the two prime guys I saw as (so-far) not living up to their potential, so I gave them the big pushes. Jack's character has kind of taken on its own heroic life since then. Aside from that, I like Shylock and Pendekar in the OFC, the (for now) departed Saboteur, and mainly just the people I can give interesting stories to. I'm looking forward to developing Dante, Vidtek, and Prince Zed, as well as Thayne and that bunch when they return. Am I biased? I'd be lying if I said no. That's the beauty of being the writer! But I tend only to push the guys I think people will latch onto, and if for some reason they don't, I do my best to modify my approach. To the other question, I don't really have room to insert a woman into Jesterelli's stable in the next set or two. The women that are coming in or being updated take up the one or two slots per set I want to allot to them. Any more than that and people tend to get cranky at you for ignoring the guys, and rightly so. I'm not even quite sure what the future of that team is, so as always, keep watching.

This is not a CPC specific question, but one I think you'd be the right guy to ask. I know you handle the tally for The Promoter GWF & CPC rankings. Sometimes they really differ from what's going on for me personally, including some real head scratchers.
I'm curious as to the size of the promoter particpation in these rankings. I know the voting is limited to the group of people who are up to the latest sets only.
1. On average how many promoters give you rankings for the GWF each issue?
2. On average what's the sample size for the CPC rankings?

Good question, and one that I haven't covered in a while, so it bears repeating. First off, the best way I've found over the years to do the Promoter rankings is to only count people's champions, not their various contenders' lists. Since not everybody provides these, undue weight would be given to those wrestlers who are listed as contenders (if that makes sense). Major championships (Heavyweight and Tag Team) count as 2 points each. Any minor titles (this includes Women's since there generally isn't more than one women's belt per league) get 1 point each. If a tag team is an "irregular" one (say, for the sake of argument, U.S. Male and Payback), then half the point total would go to Stars and Stripes and half to the Titans. Just makes things easier in the long run. If there are any ties in point totals (as always happens, but not often for the belt positions), contenders are placed in the hierarchy according to their previous positions (if contenders #4 and #7 from last issue had the same points for the current issue, the person ranked at #4 last time would be ranked above the person ranked #7 last time). I keep people's champs for six months. If I don't receive an update from them by then, I delete them from the database. Also, if someone is using a version of a character that isn't the most recent, they're not ranked (for "purity" reasons ). All that being said, sometimes the number of promoters providing rankings is less than I'd like it. You may be surprised at the numbers here, maybe not. Bear in mind that the number of people reporting for any given period is always in flux. GWF - 23 CPC - 18 LWF - 15 Not sure if this covers everything. Ask again if not.

Hey, Mark, since I'm really curious how you're going to play it out, any chance that you might play up the Barnabas/Puma ongoing saga in the Promoter so we'll have something to whet our appetite on till 2120?

Two replies for the price of one...
#1 - The deadline for Promoter rankings is usually around the 25th-27th of every odd numbered month (January, March, Mary, July, September, November). So that means the next deadline doesn't come up until the end of September, as I've already submitted my material for the Promoter coming out at the beginning of September. But feel free to submit at any time. I can always update things as needed.
#2 - I don't know how much room will be in the Promoter to develop the Puma/Barnabas story, but if there isn't, I'll do my best to tease people in alternate formats (like this board). The resolution is already planned, though, so don't think you can influence me one way or another on the outcome!

Hey Mark I just heard some bizarre rumors, I thought I would ask you to see if any of them had any truth to them ...
#1 CPC 2120 is going to be a landmark since it will be the ninth edition of CPC to be released counting the classic edition, there will be something that changes everything this year (is their?)
#2 Rumor has it that the reason you continue to tell everyone you hate special matches is because you came up with a chart and Tom is actually going to release it this year ... the bra & panties match chart ... IS THIS TRUE?
#3 Another old face from the GWF shows up, angry he was cut by Massif he signs with Colby for less to show he can still perform ... did you steal Euritar???
#4 Anything interesting new with you?

#1 -- Nine is indeed a sacred number to those of us involved in the discipline of Blainetology, as this is the number of nose hairs our benefactor David Blaine pulls from his nose prior to every amazing stunt he performs. Naturally, this will translate to the ninth CPC edition, as well, else my standing in The Church may go down. #2 -- It wasn't so much the Bra and Panties match I was ashamed of as it was the Chocolate Pudding Hair-vs-Hair Barbed Wire Baseball Bat Match that bugged me. But you know, a man has to work for a living. #3 -- I did not steal Euritar. He came to me of his own free will as a new Blainetology convert. ;D #4 -- Anything interesting new with me? Well, I was just nominated for an award in my real world job of narrating audio books, the American Foundation of the Blind's Scourby Award for Nonfiction narration. The book is former Yankee pitcher David Wells' autobiography "Perfect I'm Not." For more info (plus an audio clip if you're curious), go to www.afb.org/scourby.asp and see and hear for yourself. You can even vote once per e-mail address for your favorite in each of three categories (ahem...). Aside from that, in the COTG realm, I just consolidated my GWF Interstellar, Hardcore, and Cruiserweight Titles in a Triple Threat Match in which Bloodline (Hardcore) beat Encubus (I-S) and Switchblade (Cruiser). And I finally got Colossus to drop my CPC Title to Jack. He's gone! (P.S.: Sorry to those of you who don't watch South Park for all the Blainetology references above. Trust me, they're funny.)

It would take the Collector 2 years to improve Smooth. But I do like having an undercard bum around again.

True. But still..... Well Mark's got several months to make CPC 2120 the biggest edition ever. Hey Mark, Tom mentioned he might be releasing some cards without an official edition, will that apply to the CPC or not? Mostly because there's a couple guys I'd really like to see with new cards as soon as possible.

About the Collector: I don't know that he'll be moving on just yet, but more than likely he'll see a few people he can make projects out of in a couple of years. J.J. Smooth? Maybe...
About the between-sets cards: I haven't discussed doing any with Tom yet, but I'd like to do at least one just to keep things flowing a bit. Anyone you've got in mind? Remember that I may have some scheduled for updates in 2120, so you'll get your wish regardless if any of those folks are on the list.

I'm looking at a 2121 or 2122 update for Raze. Depends on storyline shakeups with the True Way and what direction they go. But he won't be long, I promise.

Personally, I would like to see either a Talisman manager card, or an updated Vidtek card.
