CotG happens to have a few features before others pick it up. It came up with the idea of six sided rings long before TNA existed and if Pit Viper's VENOM BLAST is what I think it is, then Tom even came up with the idea of the Shining Wizard long before Keiji Muto created it.
Note: Obviously, TNA did not come up with the idea of six sided rings. Such rings have been used in Mexico for years, long before TNA was even created. Although for how long I don't know. It would be interesting if Tom did in fact came up with the idea before the Luchadors did.

Spike was using the shining wizard before Muto IIRC. His 2091 knee to the head was the shining wizard.

Tom pulled off the "brand extention" better, earlier, and more plausibly than the WWE did as well. And then he did it two more times!
The idea of one guy booking a promotion for 20 years straight is unfathomable. While Tom doesn't have to deal with as many business issues, any scandals, or any egos among wrestlers, that kind of lasting creative drive is pretty rarely found.

He did the Invasion angle first, COTG had DX long before the WWF/E copied it. Tom had the Greek Gods long before Power and Glory came along. The list is long and these are but a few.

It's safe to say that at least at some point in the history of COTG, someone on the WWE payroll has had a copy of the game.

Surely not ! (a WWF/E employee buys the game) Ha ha I have wondered that for many years ?

The (De)Generation X and Metalhead's tongue-out pose are pretty suspicious to me, and to Tom as well, to hear him tell it at a past GalactiCon. Plus the CPC/nWo similarities. No way we can prove any of it and maybe it's hubris to think that it's going on, but I've certainly wondered over the years. Personally I think it would be smart of the WWE writers to keep track of a wrestling game that has had a loyal following for two decades and see what stories they're using that keep fans so interested. Now if they come out with some guy named the Conspirator, I'm gonna have to raise an eyebrow...

The basic NWO idea started in Japan so that';s a bit harder to say it was stolen by WCW. In fact as I recall, it predated the GWF even existing.

New Japan ran an "invasion" angle as early as 1981 (the IWE Army) but Bischoff's specific inspiration was the NJPW/UWFI feud in '95.

So the original idea came out before CotG (if I remember the timeline correctly that is) but Bischoff's specific inspiration happened later? Survey sez....one more for the CotG guys.

The copyright date on Raven's first COTG card (Sudden Death 2095) is 1991.
