It's the name, not the look. I think they're very comparable IMO.

A goth guy naming himself after a black bird isn't surprising. I't's inevitable certain namesa are going to be used in both pro wrestling and Champions. Earthquake would be another example. And while the WWF could definitely have borrowed from Champions, let's not pretend Tom didn't originally borrow from Pro Wrestling (Cough Road Warriors/Gladiators, Cough Ric Flari/Vanity)

Raven is a stretch, I'll admit. But if Tom did borrow from pro wrestling, he borrowed stereotypes that every wrestling fed uses. I borrow, too, but mine are more like borrowings from history or culture. Art is all derivative in the end.
Tom's still more creative than the Raw writers 99% of the time.

I definitely agree with that and would apply that to all the Filsinger game writers.

So the original idea came out before CotG (if I remember the timeline correctly that is) but Bischoff's specific inspiration happened later? Survey sez....one more for the CotG guys. Actually, the copyright date for the CPC 2105 edition, in which the CPC was founded, is 1997. Colby threatened to take over the GWF in a few remarks the year before, but there was no separate federation or direct takeover challenge. The NWO started in WCW on Memorial Day 1996. So in that particular case, you can't really say Bischoff stole from Tom's ideas, since the NWO existed first. I also remember a Promoter cover playing off of the NWO "too Sweeeeeet" cliché, so Tom definitely borrowed a bit there. That said, I still agree with Mark's comment that Tom's storylines are pretty much always more original (and certainly more interesting) than those in the WWE. I just had to defend WCW because I miss it.

To stray a little bit, but what came first, the marvel comics civil war or endgame's civil war against massif in the gwf, because when i read the new beginnings stories from 2119-2122, it reminded me of the comics storyline of iron man vs capt america.
